I asked for quotes from a few cleaning services and decided to go with Perfect Shine because my coworker uses it and says it's good, although they had to request a different cleaning team once. The first cleaning is time based, $95 an hour for regular product or $105 for "green" products, and however much time it takes for the crew of two to clean the space. I don't like time based cleaning in general because the incentive of efficiency and the balance between efficiency and thoroughness is hard to align. But I liked the potential of doing a one-hour quick regular cleaning afterward, which could be much cheaper than many other services in the long run. First impression: After my call, the company responded quickly to arrange the cleaning, and send detailed info via text. That was great. The job: the team came and took two hours to clean our 1-bedroom/2-bath. We have two bedrooms but since my husband is working in the master bedroom, I asked them not to clean it. The nursery has nothing but two mattresses on the carpeted floor either, and I vacuum it often myself, so shouldn't take too long. Our main concern was the bathrooms and the kitchen anyways. Two hours wasn't too terribly long, but the results weren't as great as expected. Pros: the stovetop and the area around was pretty greasy and was cleaned pretty well. All the cosmetic products the jars and bottles in the bathrooms were wiped clean. It was pretty nice at the first look. Cons: the obvious surfaces in the living room weren't dusted (tv, tv stand). The toilets looked clean at the first glance but if viewed at a bit lower angle, they weren't clean under the rims. (I have to say our silicone toilet brush might not be the most powerful, but it seemed like the work wasn't carefully checked.) cleaning tools were left in our garbage disposal in the kitchen sink and we realized only when using the disposal and had to dig it out. A sharp tool was left in our fridge which could have been dangerous for my toddler if she got her hands on it before I noticed it. (See pictures) Customer service: I told the customer service about it and sent pictures. There wasn't any response or comments. I suggested having a quick call to give some feedback, and in my mind i was ready to try a different team and do regular cleanings. A call time was agreed but nobody ever called or followed up. Let me start off by saying, I am in property management and use cleaning vendors daily. I am very knowledgeable of what an acceptable cleaning job looks like. This company does NOT meet those standards in any way! I will be providing the disgusting pictures of what this company considers acceptable. I hired them for a "move out cleaning" Good quality cleaners know exactly what this means. However, lucky for them, the house was pretty much clean, I just needed hem to focus on the bathrooms and kitchen. I contracted them last min due to my vendors having an emergency and couldn't make it. I chose them strictly off their reviews as they seem to have a lot. However at this point I'm thinking the positive reviews must ether being paid for or employees. This IS the WORST CLEANING COMPANY EVER!!!! Basic stuff wasn't done, they didn't touch my dishwasher as the pics will show all the geese caked on it. The cabinets doors were unbelievable sticky, the pics will also show how nasty they left the cabinets and light fixtures... And I'm not talking dusty... I'm talking sticky, grimy, caked on crud, geese and oil. I ended up redoing the enter kitchen myself and the amount of Nasty Clorox wipes that I had them throw away was unimaginable. Please look at the pics I attached just to prove how I couldn't be exaggerating if I tried. At the end of the horrible experience, I reached out to them and questioned everything. Showed her pics, sent MANY videos and all they kept saying was "you said they were great" I said the women were great, very kind and fast, however the work SUCKED!! I was moving in that day and had a zillion things going on around me the last thing I should have to do is redo the work I PAID FOR!!! She told me she would send the women back but by that point, I had already redo it all myself and send her videos of me doing it!! She refused to give me any money back and eventually stopped communicating with me all together to find a appropriate solution. The lack of accountability on this companies part is absolutely astounding!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE save yourself a shit ton of money and DO NOT hire this company! I paid $450 bucks for nothing but a dirty ass house and a nasty taste in my mouth! The worst experience ever. This review is for recurring appointments (every 3 weeks) that were set up for regular cleaning of the house, so if you are getting a one time deep clean for move in or move out, your experience and quality of service might be different (I haven't gotten that done so I can't comment on it.) Number of things that are making me give them a 1 star review: 1. They overcharge you : The first time they came to my house, they were working very slowly and wanted to drag it for 2hrs so they can get their payment for 2hrs. Once I set up recurring appointments, they fixed my hourly rate and automatically charged me for 2hrs every service. The cleaners came and used to take 1hr and 15mins and after I called the owner multiple times, he finally started charging me for 1.5hrs after at least 3-4 months. Which again didn't seem fair because I never got a refund for the times they worked for 1.25hrs and I had to continue to pay for 1.5hrs! 2. Not punctual: I had these appointments set up for the full year and yet they continued to have "clashes" and always came late. I don't understand if I'm pre booked, how can they have clashes. If I had made a last minute appointment, I can understand, but since that's not the case, it only tells me how committed they are. They never give you a heads up about them being late so there is no way you can plan around it. If the time that they come at (which is 1 or 2hrs after your alloted time slot), they will charge you cancellation fee because you weren't home when the cleaners got there. In fact, there are times when the cleaners coming home are not even aware of your time slot. They say they are on time and that's what the Manager told them when preparing the schedule. 3. Weak Management and customer service: They are very rude and don't care if you are having bad experiences. I have highlighted it to them multiple times with absolutely no improvement, which is why I finally discontinued the service. I gave them enough feedback on the phone (which merely consisted of me telling them - give me any time slot, just be on time). It was too much to ask apparently. 4. Cancellation Policy is very one sided: If you have to cancel, you have to honor 24hrs cancellation window. However, there have been times where they have canceled the service or rescheduled because of a "conflict" literally a few hours before they are supposed to come, and sometimes when I text them to get and ETA and their response is a new time slot which you have to make it work otherwise they expect you to leave the keys to your house outside and their staff can come and clean. Or you schedule for another day with no guarantee on what time they will arrive. This is the Bay Area, there is always someone who will give you a better service for lesser price. Don't waste your time here. Agreed that whenever they come they clean the house but because of all the above hassle, I really don't think this is worth it and I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

This is a review for the deep cleaning move out service. I was suggested to hire this company through my rental company when I was moving out. The pricing seemed competitive and it was easy to schedule an appointment. If I knew what I know now I would of hired the other suggested cleaning service. The day of the appointment two women showed up to clean my 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment for $180. They stated that it should take 2 hours to complete. The women started at 9:30am and I returned around 11am to check on their progress. One of the women approached me and stated that they had finished cleaning the apartment, but the vacuum was broken and they needed to wait for a different cleaning crew to drop a new one off. The women waited outside in her car for around 35 minutes for a different crew to drop off a vacuum. The women assured me that I would not be charged for the time they needed to wait for the vacuum. The cleaning crew left around 11:45am. I returned to my apartment to find that the cleaning crew did a subpar wipe down on the apartment, there was clearly items that we not cleaned and that I went over with a Clorox wipe and the marks were easily removed. I contacted Shirley who managed the women and stated that I was upset with the service and sent her pictures of items that we not cleaned. When I talked about decreasing the price I was being charged for the cleaning she insisted that the cleaning crew come back "they need to learn what they did wrong" (her words not mine) and that I should show them what they missed (If I hired deep cleaning I expect not to have to babysit the cleaners). The cleaners came back and told me that what I was pointing out to them were scratches that needed to be painted over. They begrudgingly wiped down randoms items and when they left I could hear them on the phone with Shirley stating, "they are scratches that needed to be painted over not marks we missed". When I asked the women about being charged for the 2 full hours even though they didn't clean that entire time she told me that while she was waiting in the car the other cleaner hadn't finished the kitchen and so she was still working during that time (Last time I checked I hired two cleaners not one). I ended up deep cleaning my apartment and afterwards sent Shirley a 2nd round of pictures of items missed before and after I had cleaned them (remind you I only had Clorox wipes not proper cleaning materials) she merely apologized for my inconvenience. When my manager did my move out walk through a day later she noted that the apartment was not cleaned properly. I notified her that I used the service that they suggested and she stated that I would need to send them the invoice to prove that I had hired them. I had to reach out to Shirley TWO more times to get the invoice emailed to me. In the end I paid full price for a subpar cleaning (definitely not deep cleaning) in which the workers didn't work the entire time and all I got in the end was an apology and extra work. The integrity and honestly of this company is highly questionable. I found them on yelp , but Im writing up a review for my experience. I start using their cleaning service nearly a year ago. Inconsistency of scheduling from the disorganized management was one of the problem. Maids either show up late or they call and said they want to come early. That didn't bother me the most. As long as they charge a fair rate and get the job done. I don't have major issue with them until another serious problem arise recently. My bathroom faucet and bathroom sliding door handles have severe discoloration. (See pictures ). And I found that out after the latest cleaning service done by a maid named Erica , she has been the one cleaning my house all year long. I believe this maid have used erosive cleanser which discolored the surface of faucet. I called perfect shine management and complained. At first the two Brother owners - Marc and Eric said the maid is gone to Mexico. Then they said the maid told them my faucet has always been like that way. And they have kept picture as proof. But yet , either them or the maid is unable to locate the pictures !? ( how hilarious!). They have to wait til the maid comes back from Mexico and then go from there. It's been 3 weeks now and no calls from perfect shine and no follow up about the pictures they said they have as proof. It's very obviously they're not going to take any responsibilities and address the complaint. Yelpers : So my experience tells me that when you bring up complains about their service ( see another review from Shao-Wen about money stolen and Candy S about damaged stove) they don't want to deal with you. It's all excuses and made up of stories by Perfect Shine to make you go away and deny all responsibilities of their mistake. My suggestion is - you take pictures of your appliances and vanities before they came to your house so you can keep a record of it. This was my first time reaching out for this cleaning service and I was disappointed for several reasons: - The value of $99/hour for a "deep clean" felt like a regular clean I can do on my own. - The ladies were kind and nice yet there was a huge language barrier where they didn't understand English and I blame the company for not asking if I speak Spanish or not because it made it very difficult to communicate with them. - They did not seem to know how to clean windows. even though that was my main request for bringing the cleaners in since I'm pregnant and unable to do that on my own these days. (They were smudged rather than clear and I noticed that after they finished). Tried to help them to use something different for shining the windows but again the language barrier was not helping. - They we're not well equipped and I had to provide them with cleaning detergent, paper towels, etc... - You have to tell them about every single and simple detail for them to clean or else they don't do it (even though the company said that as a first timer they know what to do as a deep clean service) - They do not pay attention a lot (bless their soul) while moving around and they scratched parts of my wall and furniture and I had to point it out. In conclusion, when I phoned the company to let them know they finished within 1.5 hours and share my feedback they said next time they can provide me with English speaking women and that they have specialists for windows I should have asked for and hung up directly before I finished my sentence. Emma and Maria came and cleaned the duplex our little family moved in to. It was in a desperate need of a clean. A little back story.... it is approximately 60 to 70 years old and has had the same tenant for 6 years. She got her deposit back I guess but man, I don't think she cleaned more than once every 6 weeks! The bathroom alone was scary. Cobwebs even in the oven! After my husband and I both took a go at it, we decided that we just couldn't do it on our own. I called a few places and low and behold, I got a phone call back from Eric. He was VERY helpful and called a few times. When we connected he told me he was able to get a team out THAT DAY!!!! Of course, I was down. Anyhow, we left a key for them and went about getting moving going. They showed up on time (I get a text letting me know they were there) and cleaned EVERYTHING! Window tracks, made the shower and bathtub shine (AMAZINGLY!!!), wiped down every cabinet, door, drawer, and got rid of a ton of mildew. Overall, we were impressed enough that when we got a call to see if we were satisfied, we of course said yes. In Fall 2015, we hired Perfect Shine cleaners to do a "move out" cleaning of a 4 bedroom/2 bathroom rental home based on good Yelp reviews. Our understanding was that a team could come out and get the entire job done in 4-5 hours. Instead, two women did the general house cleaning over several hours. At a different time, a man steam cleaned the carpets then returned in the late afternoon with a woman helper to clean the windows. Cleaner #1 was a younger woman who was in charge and spoke English. She asked if I'd like her to clean the oven. I said, "Yes." It was a self-cleaning oven but needed some extra work. Instead of using the self-cleaning feature while cleaning other parts of the house, she sprayed on oven cleaner and manually scrubbed the oven for hours. (I came back several times to check on their progress.) When she said the oven was done, I checked it and found that the inside top of the oven hadn't been cleaned. She told me she doesn't do that part. (What?!) Cleaner #2 did not speak English and worked diligently to vacuum and clean walls, bathrooms, light fixtures, etc. It seemed that Cleaner #2 did most of the house cleaning and worked very hard. They used cleaning solutions that were contained in generic spray bottles, which had been labeled with a black marker for the type of cleaner such as "oven cleaner." No manufacturer or chemical ingredient information was listed. The bottles all looked the same; no differentiation by color or symbol. This became a problem when Cleaner #2 grabbed a spray bottle on the kitchen counter to clean the first set of horizontal aluminum window blinds in the kitchen. Unfortunately, instead of being a general cleaning solution, it was oven cleaner. She discovered this when she wiped the cleaner off some of the blinds because the paint bubbled up and came off, exposing bare metal. When I dropped by later, Cleaner #1 told me they had a little problem and showed me the blinds. :-O The blinds had been old but presentable--now they were ruined. I asked what had been sprayed on them and found out about the poorly labeled spray bottles. Cleaner #1 insisted that although it was oven cleaner, it was non-toxic and sprayed some on her arm to prove her point. Cleaner #1 said the spray bottles are refilled from large containers but couldn't tell me what was in any of their cleaning products. The black marker labeling was rubbing off of some of the bottles. I had to rush order custom window blinds which wouldn't arrive until after we were scheduled to do the walk-through with the landlord. No thank you to Perfect Shine for the negative impression given by the horrible looking blinds. However, they did reimburse us for the cost to replace the blinds. On a positive note, Cleaner #2 did a good job of cleaning the walls, sills, light fixtures, and bathrooms. Cleaner #3 steam cleaned the carpets. Upon inspection, I pointed out some areas that needed additional work. He had to come back the next morning to re-clean those areas as he had another appointment. After he left, I was not happy to find that his truck had dripped oil on the driveway, which I had to clean up. Cleaner #3 removed the window screens and hosed them down in the backyard. He worked on the outside windows while Cleaner #4 did the inside windows and window sills. There were many large ceiling to floor windows so this took awhile. The job was finished after dark, and Cleaner #3 was in a rush to leave. Nonetheless, I inspected all of the windows and glass doors. When I pointed out a new 11" horizontal crack in a window, I got the feeling they already knew about it by the exchanged glances. He asked if I was sure the crack wasn't already there. Yes, I was sure. The windows above and to the side of the front entry door hadn't been cleaned. One of the window screens hadn't been cleaned. Apparently, they had not checked their work. They rushed to complete the cleaning. Cleaner #3 returned early the following morning to replace the broken glass and complete the carpet cleaning. When we hired them, I expected a clean house, not a bunch of additional problems and stress! We did end up with a clean house, but I do not recommend Perfect Shine Housekeeping due to the problems: - Poor communication - Destroyed a set of custom window blinds that couldn't be replaced before landlord inspection - Dirty carpet areas re-cleaned only after I insisted on it - Missed dirty windows and window screen, cleaned only after I pointed them out - Broken window - Oil stain on driveway read more

When I been promised for a re-cleaning, I told them I don't wanna see that cleaning team again since they're so lazy. And they sent the same team to my house at 11:10am, which is not the time we agreed on: 2pm. After I showed them which areas they didn't do a good job of, they just told me that they will clean Thorpe areas. And they call that a "re-cleaning." So I told them you don't have to do the re-cleaning no more. Since theirs time are much more valuable than mine. Sometimes I got confused from this team for who's the cleaner and who's the customer. There was one time they even used my vacuum cleaner instead of theirs, and of course, they didn't bother to tell me or take out the trash in that cleaner. I contacted a few different companies, but most just spent a lot of time writing a lot of back and forth emails, but never actually were able to come out in a timely fashion. One company I contacted even insisted on needing a week's notice to come out and do a consultation first, in the middle of the day on a Wednesday! Obviously if I was able to be at home during that time, it would probably mean that I didn't have a job and would clean my house myself! I digress. I don't know why so many people give this company good reviews, but I do have a bad experience. Over the phone, they told me that they will send two people for 75 dollars per hour. The apartment only has two bedrooms and a very tinny kitchen. They start cleaning from 8:30 and left at 11:30. (I was not there, but my tenant mate them when they left). My tenant even told me that there is only one person work there. They charge me 450 dollars for cleaning the kitchen and bathroom and 100 for three glass window for this three-hour house clean with only one person. After I question them their price, they never pick up my phone since I called them 3 times, and email them 2 times. read more

DO NOT USE this service unless they are your very last option! You will start noticing the poor management run by Eric and Marc. Eric offered to give me a discount if I post a 5 star review. At first, it sounded interesting and I started using their service. However, after meeting Marc, I learned this business is all about making money off of you. Marc said my verbal agreement with Eric was no longer valid after the second month of my service and planned to charge me double of what we initially agreed on. I tried to negotiate for a better rate, but not only was I turned down by Marc, he also made a racist comment toward me saying, "you asians are so cheap! We don't want your business. New and ongoing customers of perfect shine of housekeeping should beware of such offensive and discrimatory remarks made by the owners. After I told Eric about this incident, he just brushed this off and said Marc is loved by all employees and customers. And of course, why wouldn't he? They're brothers afterall. I love these guys! We moved here two years ago and after a string of terrible housecleaners I stumbled upon Perfect Shine and I haven't looked back. I have been sent 2 different teams and they are both wonderful and so pleasant to talk to. Today Mary and Nicoletta (sp?) came and did a deep clean for our move out in 2 days. Such a wonderful team. They helped move the mattresses from room to room so they could clean and even helped with a bulky bed frame. Both teams have been prompt and courteous and the gentleman who answers the phone is very polite and calls back promptly when I leave a message. I highly recommend Perfect Shine. read more

BEWARE!!!! I have been using Perfect Shine Housekeeping for house cleaning services for over a year now and I love the cleaners that come to my house every month. However, I started to be concerned with their tardiness or sometimes not even showing up on the day of my scheduled appointment. I understand that accidents happen that caused them not to show up or show up late so as long as it doesn't happen so often, I was willing to continue with Perfect Shine services. HOWEVER, today when I was meeting with Marc Mcdonald to get a quote for my office for initial cleaning and bi-weekly cleaning, I was talked down on by Marc when I mentioned my concern with the cleaners not being on time. I only brought this up because we have to operate our business at a certain time and I would not want the cleaners to come late and clean during our business hour as we have to meet clients as well. Marc instantly went off on me and raised his voice. I am a small girl and he is probably over 6 feet tall so when he was yelling at me just because of my concerns, I just stood there in fear and didn't want to respond him as it could upset him even more. No customers should be treated like this, especially by the Co-Owner of a reputable company. Did I think he was going to attack me? Yes. Did he apologize? No. He even told me that I should switch my cleaning appointment to a weekday so the cleaners would arrive on time. I told him I do not prefer this as I am a renter and not the owner of the house. I was willing to have the cleaners come to my office during non-operating hours when nobody is there because my CEO is fine with it. However, my landlord does not approve the cleaners coming in the house without someone presents. I told Marc this and he replied saying Perfect Shine is insured and bonded and got, even more, anger at me for not trusting his company and his cleaners to come in my house without someone presents. I believe that everyone has a right to their own preference and he shouldn't yell at me and tell me it is my fault that I need cleaners to come on the weekends so I should not complain about their being late or not showing up. After he finished verbally attacking me, he walked off as if he no longer wants my business. I contacted perfect house cleaning based on a recommendation of a friend who had used their service. Mark scheduled the appointment for their move out cleaning service immediately for the weekend according to my request. The cleaning ladies- a mother daughter duo arrived within the 2 hr window they gave me. They did a good job of cleaning everything -the Windows, doors, kitchen, bathroom and vacuumed the carpet. The only downside was they a little more time than the estimate. They took a total of 3 hrs for a 1 bed 1 bath apartment I am happy with the service and will contact again if I ever need it read more

This is my second time having Perfect Shine House Keeping to clean my bathroom. Impressed both times, but unfortunately I was a bit bothered by the time conflicts. I will continue to use Perfect Shine Cleaning, but just wanted to be transparent with my experience. I received two emails confirming my 1:00-2:00PM time frame and was aware that the cleaners would come between this time frame for an estimated one hour cleaning. At around 1:45 PM I called to confirm because no one had arrived yet. I get a call back from another associate saying that they were on their way and would be here at around 2:20 PM.... which is out of the time estimated arrival time frame. They arrived at 2:32PM. Associate informed me that Eric had notified me about a *2 hour time frame* since the "area traveled is so large". I looked over all of my emails and did not read anything about this 2 hour time frame due to distance traveled. Luckily I have time off from work so that I was able to stay home and continue to wait, but what concerned me is the lack of communication. One of my light bulbs was shattered during the cleaning (accidents happen), I called and was offered a reimbursement for the price of the bulb which I really appreciated. I used this company years ago and they were great. I was in need of a cleaning service so I reached out to them again. The cleaning service performed was ok but a few spots were missed which I notified the company about. The company was more concerned with payment than having a satisfied customer. In addition I was overcharged for the service and they made no effort to correct the issues. The customer service is great when they are trying to get your business however if there is an issue afterwards good luck. I would not recommend this company read more

This is the second time my boyfriend and I have used Perfect Shine Housekeeping. After they did such a good job the second time, we decided to give in and do a monthly service. Our landlord was visiting from out of the country and we needed a deep clean on a short notice, our house was disgusting. I gave the manager specific instructions on what we needed done and they really went above and beyond. Our blinds and refrigerator look BRAND NEW. The staff is absolutely wonderful, and even followed up with me after the cleaning to make sure everything met expectations. As a working individual that spends 50 hours at the office, and 10 hours a week with night classes and homework, it is so nice to come home and not worry about doing house work, it's a huge weight off my shoulders and I can't thank PSH enough! read more

After one of the owners died, the business has gone downhill. Zero personal attention, texting as a main form of communication, and management does not investigate concerns of client. High-turnover of their employees, numerous scheduling mishaps and no shows, inconsistent quality of work were examples of the ongoing mismanagement of the business. After years of service, management decides my house requires more time to clean, thereby increasing my price by a 1/3. After trying to voice my concerns, the owner hangs up on me, telling me they will not service my house. I had given them loyalty, but alas they gave me none. Be wary future clients, I do not recommend Perfect Shine Housekeeping. Ownership here is indifferent, unpredictable and the employees are untrained. Poor customer service by owner, Mark McDonald, will ensure your needs will NOT be handled. Read the other poor reviews- there is a common complaints in all of them. The HOUSEKEEPING BUSINESS is VERY COMPETITIVE. They cannot compete. I have replaced them. read more
