a long review but: Stick with me on this one, ok guys? First off- these men are great to talk with. I just went back to Perfection for my thirdddd time to have them do work on my Kia. They were able to work within my schedule and my timing which was nice (thank you!!!) - But i left this time around not feeling not sure that I'll continue to use them. They had done previous work on my car which did NOT hold up, due to the error of whoever painted my car last time (the other gentleman Bob stated to me that there was a missing step in the order of the paints/sealants they put on last time bc it should not have chipped and eroded away so badly in only ~1.5 (max 2) years time. Even if there was an "inciting" event like "a rock" that "peeled it away". Ok. ...So anyway, after this past winter season I inquired if they could fix their work for me, for free. They agreed. I had other work to get done on my car, so i thought hey, I'll make it worth their while and pay them to do extra work while they fix what they said they would for free. Right? Hopefully yall are following my logic here. He provided me two estimates. One for the work I'd pay to do ($1944). Then- The "free" work estimate, I asked for him to work up a quote on that just so I could get an idea / gauge of their prices-- if I wanted to keep coming back to them. This quote was, in his words as well, $1100. So- By his logic, for him to fix the part of my car where their poor job was before- which was, at most, 7 inches of peeling paint, he said that would have been $1100. thu: to fix my ENTIRE whole front bumper & undercarriage was $1900, (so in theory as two separate jobs, the bigger one is "only" $800 more?? with literal new parts?) so his estimates did NOT make sense to me. Oh and, the final I paid today was +$4.00 from what he originally quoted me. I don't mean to split hairs so I didn't gripe. And- they didn't even use the protective floor mats this time nor did they vacuum my driver seat floor (I could see their dirty footprints). Sure there's probably things I'm not understanding as to how they do their business but... I just paid $4 more from their estimate and most likely just covered their CC merchant processing fees while receiving my interior back dirtier than it was before. ... His exact words to be going into this were "It will all most likely be less than the estimate, I will let you know once we get the car in and parts off!" Not once did he touch base w me before moving forward w the work. I had to call him ...I digress. Just make sure you are vigilant & stay on top of them and communicate every step of the way. Unless you have a couple extra hundred(s) to play around with. I didn't want to be a pest to them and call every day for the week they had my car- John always sounded hurried on the phone as I do understand they're busy. But I'm not sure how I feel after this experience. I will most likely do the rest of my car repairs in my hometown at a non-Cook County price gouge. TLDR: Good guys, good work- if you have the $ & to maybe have to come back and have their work repaired, or ya know. Everything else I said. read more

Was backing out of my brothers garage and hit the hatchback and broke the rear window of our Honda crv. They fixed and painted the damage and you can't see anything now. Nice people to work with. Insurance covered everything. Recommending to our nephew who just had an accident. read more

I don't write many review but felt compelled to after the great experience I had working with John, Bob and Perfection Auto. My 2012 Honda Odyssey got in back to back minor accidents that created several major repair needs. My lifelong experience in getting car repairs typically resulted in expensive quotes without a lot of detail around what was actually being fixed and why it cost so much. That usually resulted in a shoulder shrug and getting the work done because what other choice do you have. The process with Perfection was easy, detailed and seamless. From giving me a great breakdown where all the damage occurred in the car, why and how they'd repair it, and how they'd take care of all the details with the insurance company. John called with detailed updates regularly and best of all the van hasn't looked this good since we drove it off the lot. They say that the best jobs are ones that you would do the work whether you get paid or not. I'd say that's the case at Perfection. They are neighborhood staples, love what they do and make the auto repair experience, dare I say a pleasure. read more

John is a true professional who cares about the quality of the work his shop produces. Replacing my front bumper, he did a great job correcting some errors that another Oak Park auto body shop carelessly let get past them when they had a go with it. He also advocated on my behalf with the auto insurance company to get a proper adjoining part, which the insurers were trying to low ball us on. He also delivered as promised on the delivery date, something the other Oak Park auto body shop did a poor job with. (That other Oak Park shop, by the way, was far more expensive.) The next time I need auto body repair, there's no question but that this is the shop I'm going to use. read more

I was rear-ended by a careless driver in Chicago, and my Volvo mechanic recommended this place. I needed a new bumper assembly, muffler and other parts. Not only was the work performed excellently, the interaction with Allstate and Enterprise rental car was speeded along by these great guys. I am an older lady and this was my first car accident. My Insurance gave me a choice of a couple places to go and this was the closest to me so I chose this one. They put in a work order and I was suppose to get a call but I didn't and called the next day myself. When I called the guy that answered told me, with no empathy to speak of, it would be over 2 weeks before I could even bring my vehicle in for an estimate. I said that's too long and hung up. Needless to say I chose to go somewhere else. Sure not a full review, but a bad first impression that made me go elsewhere. read more

It's not that I'm a bad driver. But I get distracted and bump into things at low speeds. So I'm a regular at Perfection Auto. They not only do good work, they are fairly priced and very honest. Example: we were putting our 1997 Honda up for sale. It had a few dings, and I thought it would sell better with them fixed. The guy there showed me how, with some wax and effort, they would look much better and no repairs would be needed. He could have earned some money off me that day, but instead earned my undying loyalty. read more

I stumbled upon Perfection Auto Body while looking for someone to take care of some blossoming rust spots on my '04 Honda. A number of the places in the area quoted me in excess of $100 (keep in mind this was maybe 5 smaller-than-dime-sized rust spots but I'm hopeless when it comes to anything automotive). Frank had me stop by for a estimate and I dropped the car off to be worked on a few days later. Not only did they do a stellar touch up job but he refused my offer of a tip in addition to the $30 total. These guys are honest and do wonderful work. I'll definitely be back for any future body work and will be recommending them to anyone that asks (and maybe some who don't). read more

He was not friendly, seemed grumpy. He didn't listen to my request. He sent me a quote that was not what I had asked for when I was there in person. I responded saying that I must not have communicated clearly and asked for a quote with my simple specifications (I wanted something less detailed, which would mean less money for them) - they never replied. read more

My car was rear ended, and the back bumper looked like someone had taken a sledgehammer to it. My insurance company didn't want to pay to have the bumper replaced. I was extremely skeptical that a mere repair would get the job done, and thought there was no way the bumper would ever look the same again. My doubts were erased when I went to pick up my car. The bumper looked brand new. Not only were there no signs of impact from the rear-end collision, but Frank and his team sanded out, and painted, the rest of the bumper as well (there were scratches and minor dents here and there from a year of parallel parking in the city). The bumper now looks better than it did when I bought the car used a few years ago. I was so pleased, surprised, and impressed by the quality of their work (they also cleaned the inside of my car, and vacuumed the floor for good measure, and didn't charge me a dime). So dissapointed! I recently got into an accident with my 08 civic si, and I was going around town looking for quotes to see how much it would cost to get my quarter panel fixed. I called this place and the guy on the phone tells me Come in anytime after 12 and we'll take care of you. So awesome right?... When I walked into to the shop and some old man who really needs a lesson in customer service and hospitality walks up to me and I let him know of my earlier call and as I try to explain my situation he's just shaking his head the entire time and cutting me off as I'm trying to ask these questions saying he's booked all month and can't do it and how i have to have only state farm insurance to come to them (which no one stated in the phone or online) and just walked away from me. I was referred to this body shop by my insurance company. I called about setting up a time for an estimate. I went out for the estimate and arrived 2 hours before they closed. I walked into the waiting area and read all of their great customer service signs. The person finally came to the office area and I began to tell him that I was there for an estimate. Before I could even finish my sentence I was told that they didn't have time and to come back in 2 weeks and he turned around and left. Next time don't tell me to come out anytime and once I get there, tell me you don't have time. Absolutely crappy customer service! read more

I called Perfection to request an estimate, my car window had been shattered by a tree limb in a storm, and I was told that I could come in anytime and gave me their hours. I went over there 3 hours later and was rudely told that he was too busy to help me and told me to come back on Monday. I have gone to Perfection in the past and been satisfied but after the way I was dismissed today I would not recommend Perfection Auto body to anyone. read more

Here is an update on a vehicle that was recently repaired by this shop. Apparently, the paintwork was not up to be par after the vehicle was traded in. As a result, the vehicle was returned to Perfection Auto Body for repair and buffing. Unfortunately, the interaction as well as the work at this shop is less that "Perfection". read more

Took my car in after pulling fender off by backing out over a rock (hidden by some plants, unfortunately....). Bump City in Oak Park told me they'd have to order a new fender and it would cost $1,700. I then took it to Perfection, and Frank took 4 hours to replace the plastic clamps (I have a Volvo wagon and the fender apparently is held on by plastic clamps) for $80!!! It's been a few weeks now and the fender is on, rock-solid. I tried to pay Frank $100, to thank him for the quick turn-around -- and great savings - and he refused the extra $20. This is my second happy experience at Perfection and I recommend them highly. read more

when I called about getting an estimate I was told to come any day from 8-5p. I showed up the next day around 1pm and was told immediately it would be at least 5-6 weeks to get to my job. I said time wasn't important but was he saying he didn't want the job. He said yes, that he didn't want my business and then gave me the bum's rush out the door. Have no idea why he was so rude but he just seemed hell bent on getting me out and not working on my car. Very rude and I would never consider going back read more

I had my car fixed twice by Perfection Auto. They are a top notch body and fender shop. After my car accident, Frank, the owner, wrote a v detailed estimate and explained the major points and answered all my questions. After the repair he showed me step by step pictures on the computer how my car was repaired which was so interesting and gave me such clarity. Again, he answered all my questions in such a cordial manner. He is soooo nice and v professional in his approach to business, which I appreciate so much. My father had a very reputable body and fender shop in Chicago years ago. He had an excellent reputation because all Chicago car insurance agents brought their cars specifically to him to fix. He would talk about his work with such pride and I learned a lot about what constitutes well done auto repair. Frank is much the same like my father with his shop. You can see he takes great pride in the work his shop produces. They do excellent work. I'm so happy to see there are still people in the car repair industry who do business with integrity, honesty and personal pride in their work and on top of that, being soooo nice & a pleasure to do business with. He has a reputation among his own peers that his shop produces excellent work too. Im really happy with the way my car looks---like new again. And they finished it two days Before the estimated due date. That is a Big Wow! Side story--- my dog rides in the car with me everywhere I go. She had a water tube in the car that was broken while the car was being repaired. Frank had one of his men go out and replace it! Not only that, it was the exact same one. I was so touched & amazed. 10.10.2014 - NOT HAPPY @ ALL!! went to them for a quote and he turn me down stating that he (Frank) had a contract with Volvo and StateFarm and it's 3Weeks out.. .I told him it's fine, I don't mind and will wait. The he said he wouldn't do it because everytime they added a car, it would go ahead of me. And I said, are you turning down my business?? He said, I'm sorry and walked away!! RUDE! read more

We had a parking lot accident where some driver marked out rear door panel while backing out apparently. We had several estimates that ranged from $1500 to $1300. I stopped at Perfection on the recommendation of friends. The owner had me pull the car in to the shop, called over one of his craftsmen who brought his buffer and buffing compound. He did two buffings and restored the car to a normal appearance. I wasn't there 10 minutes and drove out the door with a restored car. The boss was courteous, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and caring. I can't guarantee you will get out in 10 minutes, but I do believe I got excellent service and expect you will too. We will be taking our next auto work to Perfection Auto. read more

We highly recommend Perfection Auto. Our 2012 Silver Hyundai Santa Fe had a big swipe on the right rear door; the right front corner bumper had pulled away when we backed over one of those cement tire blocks (car had more weight in it when we backed up!) and a couple of serious scratches. We met with John Schneeweiss and he spent a good deal of time with us, inspecting the car, asking questions, making suggestions. After verbally agreeing about the work we wanted done, he sent us a quote in April - and it was completely in accord with what we had discussed (which included replacing the door and matching the paint). We're a one-car family, so we booked a date in early September when we were going to be away for a week. The car was finished on time and it looks brand new. Moreover, even though the quote was issued more than 4 months before we had the work done, the bill was for the exact amount of the estimate. I'm quite sure his operating costs had gone up some in that period, but he stayed within the quote. John is a REALLY nice guy, and he's patient, explains things well, and is very responsive when you have additional questions. read more

The body work on a 2005 Volvo was perfectly done. It was ready in the promised two days. The price was reasonable -- midway between other higher and lower estimates. Apparently, there's a good reason they've been in business 44 years. read more

Worst body shop I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They even took my review down because it didn't praise them. My insurance company recommended this place after I was hit. First I was told to bring it in and they will have a look, so I did. I was told that it would be 3 weeks before they could repair it and the insurance company ok'd the use of a rental car. I was told by Frank that they would call me the week it was ready and give me a status update. Well Friday of the 3rd week came and I received no "update" but did receive a call at 230 on Friday afternoon from Frank asking me to pick up my car on Saturday. When I asked what happened to the status phone call? I got "we were too busy" So I told Frank if he would have contacted me like he said he was going to he would have known that I was leaving town on Saturday. When I told him this he said well ok come get the car at 430 I am not paying for your rental for the weekend. Little known fact I didnt know until I had the displeasure of dealing with this so called body shop, Insurance companies give body shops so many hours to complete if they do not they are responsible for the cost of my rental car. When I arrive to get the car, there is still paint, from the sanding process all over the inside of my car, they didn't even bother to vacuum it. Then to top this all off a week later my sensor for my tire pressure system went off (I was hit in the drivers rear tire). So I do what we all would do call the last person who touched it. When I called I was told by Frank, Mr. Customer Service, that it was not his work that caused the problem, it had to be something else. So I took the car to a JIFFY LUBE a Jiffy lube and they were able to reset the light in 5 minutes and told me the code was never cleared after the repairs were made. Horrible business I would take my sons tricycle to this buffoon. read more
