Went here for the 1st time to get a dip manicure. Made an appointment as I read previous reviews about the wait time. Even with my appointment, they took me 15 min late. The manicurist did not trim the cuticles, nor clean up my polish around the edges of some of my nails. Attention to details was lacking. The place is also not very clean/sanitary; no cleanup was done before I was taken. The Previous client just moved over to a different chair and the manicurist started on my nails without wiping down the station or the area or even bringing out new tools. I have not written a review in quite some time but I was very disappointed with my experience (or lack there of). I had purchased a Groupon for a $15 no chip manicure. I've been looking for a salon and was excited to try this place as I've never had a no chp and it's on my way home from work. So, I grew out my nails and called in advance for an appointment. I always make sure to mention I have a groupon so they know. They said "ok great see you then." I get there and they tell me that my Groupon has expired. I show them the Groupon with the expiration date on it as November, 2011 and they tell me to wait and they will confirm. I waited for about 30 minutes while she made calls and finally told me "well the groupon expired but we'll honor it....can you wait another 15 minutes?" So basically I would not get the manicure until almost an hour after my appointment. I said no thank you. Now I've worked with Groupon before and it is the company's responsiblity to check the PDF they send you to make sure all the info is accurate before posting it. If you do not catch the mistake then you should honor the Groupon no questions asked and not make someone sit there for an extended period of time. I was soooo excited about a manicure and I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the customer service. The one star is for the woman I spoke to. I understand it was not her fault directly and she was nice, but it was not good business to make me sit there and tell me sorry it expired when I'm showing you the groupon. read more

I started coming here about one year ago since it is near my work. At first, I thought they delivered a great mani, but as I continued to go there, the manicures and experience overall went down. Main reasons I will not come here again: 1. One of the men has inappropriate conversations. He has talked to me about gay men and sex. I am quite pro homosexuality and was quite offended by this. Regardless of my views, this should not be discussed! Not to mention the talk about sex. At this point I should have stopped going here, but at time, I just couldn't make it to my regular spot. 2. They put thinner in their polishes. You can just tell by shaking them, but if that wasn't enough, they did it right in front of me too. You cannot do that in front of a customer! Sign of a place not using high end products/don't replace them when it's time. 3. Lastly, I was in the middle of getting a mani when a lady walked in and asked for the lady doing my nails to do her pedi (she didn't even have an apt). She left me sitting there for 5 min at which point, I walked out and will never go back. Didn't even get a top coat on! Go to 675 Nails instead, right down the block. I try to not give out poor ratings, however, the reviews for this salon were very misleading. First off, they don't even have their store name up. All they have is a sign that says "Nails" and if I didn't look for the address, I would have never found it. Secondly, when we got there, I mentioned I made an appointment but everyone seemed confused and just told me to pick a color. Side rant, I should have walked out when I saw how cluttered and dirty everything looked. It goes downhill from here. They directed me to the pedicure chair and my guy comes to begin. Every tool they used looked super unsanitary, but like I am, I always have the benefit of the doubt. The pumice rock was so worn down, the pores weren't even visible and did not hold its rectangular shape. He used the scrapper to scrap my heels and didn't think to use any softener or anything. Whatever tool he used to push my cuticle back felt like it was cutting into me every time and I kept moving and instead of asking if I was OK, he said I scared him. I also felt super rushed and I really get nervous when people rush especially if they are using the nipper because I bleed easily. Another technician came next to me and did my manicure. She seemed fine over all except there were times while using the nipper, I felt her cut too close. The overall polish job was horrible, as if a child painted my nails, no offense. But if I am paying $35 plus tip (and also paying for my S.O.), I expect it to be a superb job. Also, I've never in my life had my nail Polish chip off within two days after getting them done. Ridiculous. Never, ever, ever, going back there again. Sticking to my main techs... I just need to make an appointment a week or 2 early because of how great they are! I've only been here twice and both times were for pedicures. Loved both of them! The first time I had the 'Perfectly Pedicure", which included a sugar scrub and foot mask, which I'll admit took a long time, but it was worth it! My feet felt amazing. I also had a Groupon deal for it, which was a bonus. The second visit, I just got a classic pedicure. I had the only male esthetician, which made me nervous because of a review I read prior to. He was actually really nice and knowledgeable. Before he started the trimming and scrubbing on my left food, I told him I had what I thought was a callus on there so I told him to be careful. He told me it was actually a plantar wart and gave me steps on what to use to remove it and also steps on how to prevent ingrown nails. He was very helpful and tried to scrub down my wart to make it less painful, which was painful, but good at the same time, if that makes sense. The warm towel on your feet after the pedicure is always a nice touch. My pedicure is still intact and it's been 2 weeks! He even offered me candy afterwards. Reminded me of a doctor's office when you give candy to a child to stop them from crying. haha! I'll be back for another pedicure :) read more

Out of all the nail salons I've ever been to since the age of 16, Perfectly Polished is by far the best. Not only is the salon clean and neatly organized, they cater to each customer and the staff is extremely friendly. Some of the qualities of this salon you will not find at any other. For example, if you become a regular customer for your pedicures, you will receive a VIP kit that they label with your name and save for you for every visit. That means no reusing things such as pumice bar, file, etc. This at no additional charge. Pedicures also include a message with a warm towel! Like some salons they offer a discount card (Loyalty Member Card) which they sign off on every time you visit. After your 9th visit, you receive $10 off your 10th visit. I love this salon and highly recommend it! Why wouldn't you want to go where they remember your name and actually talk to you (instead of one another in a language you don't understand) after spending your hard earned money? Try it! Perfectly polished is a really cute and clean place that is tucked away in a mini strip mall area across the street from the Marathon gas station on Dempster, 1 block west of McCormick. There's private parallel parking out in front, or small lot just west of the building. I learned of this place through a Groupon deal, and was able to get an appointment for a pedicure really easily. I have a fear of commitment and had requested to change my appointment time a couple of times, but they were extremely accommodating each time. The good news: The place is filled with large TV screens playing movies/Sex & the City to entertain and possibly fill in any awkward silences that may come up while getting your nails did. The bad news: I missed the beginning to The Blind Side (yes, I'm a dork). They know what they do and they're fast at it! Helen was super sweet, and the manager even gave me tips on how to grow out my nails to minimize my discomfort. The best part was that he was able to do an awesome job with my callouses (it's reviews like these that make me really glad my bf doesn't know I yelp..), something that most places tend to neglect. Bonus: if you're a regular customer, it's a hygienist's heaven! As a regular, they'll store your own pedicure kit in the store (nail file, pumice, buffer) so your visits will not only make your feet look pretty, but won't be so up close and personal with billions of other feet via nail files and whatnot. Waxing was thorough & meticulous, but I won't lie... it was a bit slow. They had rearranged the room on the poor lady so that may have contributed to it, but honestly this place isn't called Perfectly Waxed, so I didn't mind too much. Their prices are slightly under the average cost for a no-chip ($35 for no-chip and they're always running specials), which is always great in my book. The only con is they currently do a mani/pedi offer, but that may be due to the fact that they have several types of mani/pedis. Time will tell if the no-chip manicure will last (it better, since it costs $3 to have them remove it!) but they were extremely welcoming, friendly, and even told me to keep a look out on livingsocial for a future deal with them in it! As a random (hey, let's find a nail salon in Skokie) with my girlfriend, I researched a bit on Yelp and decided to pick one out of the 2 nail salons along Dempster that we passed up first and had mediocre reviews. Why it receives mediocre reviews, I HAVE NO CLUE! This place is amazing! A small shop along a strip mall, but I understand why they have such dedicated locals coming to get their nails done. The service is great. My friend and I surprisingly both got no-chip manicures and pedicures all done by men. Granted, there were women there but they were all taken by other customers. They guys however, were very friendly, helpful and knew what they were doing. They made a 2 hour nail job, a fun gossip-talk. And it kept me and my friend completely forgetting that we were hungry for dinner because we were having so much fun! Did I mention that they took their dedicated time to make sure we got a complete service done and weren't rushed to finish at all and they were still working on our nails even after an hour after the salon closed? That's dedication right there, and we felt like VIP. Their selection of nail polishes are great and their no-chip even better. I've recently become a fan of no chip but discovered that this salon does this 2 tone no chip that changes color under hot or cold conditions. It's fun! Although I didn't get that done, my friend did and she kept playing with ice water after we left the salon. When I moved down the street 3 years ago, I was in need of a local nail salon and I was lucky enough to find Perfectly Polished. Let me first say that I am Vietnamese so I know what a quality nail salon offers. This place has people that speak English and know how to carry on a conversation if you want them to or they know to leave you alone if you just want to get your nails done. As a busy working mother, I don't have time to get my nails done each week so I opt for the no-chip manicures. Every 3 or 4 weeks I get a fresh manicure only because my nails have grown out, not because the polish has chipped off. They have the largest selection of no-chip colors AND color changing polish. I've been doing the color-change for the last 6 months because they're so much fun. Everyone I run into comments on how cool my nails are. First off let me explain my 1 star review. I had two separate people. One person did my pedicure ($25.00) and the other did my full set acrylic ($25.00). The woman who did my pedicure was wonderful. She was very gentle and took her time, along with making sure I liked the color and its opacity. This review doesn't affect her. (She gets a 5 star in my book) When she moved me to get my acrylics I was given to the only male in the store (beware!) and he did a horrible job. When filing my nails with the filing instrument he wasn't careful at all or even aware of my skin. He kept jamming it further and further (past my cuticles) to the point where I bled. I disregarded the first knick because we all make mistakes but the incident reoccured. After filing my nails like this for an hour and a half with no intentions of painting any time soon I got up and left. After paying for my pedicure he had the nerve to charge me for my full set and ask when I was going to reschedule with him. After leaving very annoyed I went to another salon who sympathized with my situation and fixed my nails for FREE! I will definitely be returning to Royal Nails in Skokie. read more

If I could give zero stars I would worst nail salon! To give some background my mother and I used to come here often about a year ago our normal nail salon was booked up so we decided to go back and give them a try. Awful choice ! I have never ever had a worse pedicure and no chip in my life. I get no chip about every two weeks and a pedicure every month for years. Let's start with the pedicure: the man who was my technician was so rough literally cutting my skin with the cuticle cutter needing to use a sort of blood clotting solution to stop the bleeding. While buffing & grating my foot he took two large chunks of skin off my big toe super painful I told him it was hurting he laughed. The buffing stone was so worn out as to why he must have been scrubbing so hard. I look at my toes after I left parts of the side of the nails are not even painted. For the no chip: still having the man I asked is there any way you can do this nail design super easy literally blue with some pink glitter on ends his response no. I asked what can u do he says just pick a color so I attempt all the colors were pretty empty but I ended up picking pink as he's doing my nails. He sliced my pinky under my nail once again having to use the solution to stop the bleeding as he's painting and I'm drying them I look and notice he's literally not even painting the whole nail just the middle, I ask can you please fix this and show him the white nail on both sides of the paint he gets upset. Giving me attitude the whole time. Let's just say I literally hate my no chip it looks like someone globbed color on my nails. As I go to sit by my mom who has the owner doing her nails she notices how upset I am and asks to look at my nails and decides she needs to add more glitter to my ring finger nails because as she said it didn't look complete. As I ask my mom how she was feeling when we were leaving she said her feet and her hands were hurting because of how many times she was cut by the cuticle cutter DO NOT GO HERE unless you'd like to get butchered! read more

I've been coming to Perfectly Polished for several years, and I can't believe I still haven't written a review. I mostly come in for pedicures and the occasional no-chip. The service is always great, and my nails look great . The end result is all that matters, so what else can I ask for. I would have given a five star review, but I had a few occasions of nails not filed evenly or dead skin not polished off all that well (still good, just not 5-star-worthy). That being said, this is still the best place in Skokie that I've found so far. I have to say, this is the only place that really does expert no-chip. First, they have a huge selection of colors from several different gel polish manufacturers (like OPI, Gelish, etc.), so you're going to find the exact color you want. Every other place I had a no-chip done, it quickly bubbled and peeled, but not with Perfectly Polished. Yea, this is the only place I'd go for a no-chip mani that I know will be worth the money. Perfectly Polished tends to get pretty busy on lunch breaks and after work hours, so I highly recommend making an appointment if you want to get in after 4:00. In my experience, they've always honored my appointment slot. I am aware of other reviewers having problems with appointment windows being given away to walk-ins, but this has never happened to me in the past two years since I discovered the place. My husband and I are in Lake Tahoe for a week celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary. I looked up salons the day prior to see where we could go for a relaxing mani pedi! I found this little salon tucked away in a small shopping center one night after work when I was in desperate need of a pedicure before my Saturday night out. I can't say that I was super impressed but I can't say anything negative. The lady who did my toes didn't try to strike up a conversation with me, which was nothing bad at all as I was deep into 50 Shades of Grey so it didn't bother me. The purpose of a pedicure is to remove dry/dead skin, shape nails, trim/shape cuticles, and make your feet look and feel great. I went in with a moderate amount of dry/dead skin on my feet. I left Perfectly Polished with a moderate amount of dry/dead skin on my feet. I should've just thrown $24 in the garbage can!! Hardly any of my dry/dead skin was removed. My feet did not feel or look pretty after she was done. Their website even says "a special treatment is applied to remove ALL your dead skin." Nope. Wrong. Only, like, 10% of it. And, no, my feet aren't crusty and caked with layers of dry skin. This was so disappointing. I am not sure if i got an incompetent worker that day or what. I will never go back there. read more

I did not mind it, but the profanity could be off-putting to some. The pedicure was good, and I did not have to wait long, despite not having an appointment. The man who did my pedicure was young, but seemed to know what he was doing. I would have given the place a higher rating, if it wasn't for the fact that my nail polish bubbled and subsequently smudged/got wiped off one little toe despite letting it dry for close to 30 minutes. i have my regular "go to" place for my gel fill ins however it was a sunday and they were closed i called around and found this place, perfectly polished. it an odd shaped with one lane of parking strip mall on dumpster (more parking just steps away in a lot) i finally found it when i walked in they had me sit down with phoung. wow, she was detailed and took great care. i was impressed. then dooey had her use no chip polish so i could check it out and that was a nice surprise. i am loyal to my "go to" place however phoang and dooey at perfectly polished are my next choices and i would recommend to anyone nice job and thank you so much read more

Took a chance coming here for a manicure & pedicure since I read great reviews here. Making an appointment the day of when I wanted it was easy and liked they were open until 8. I figured with a 630pm appointment, they wouldn't rush it through. I was wrong - my pedicure was decent but my manicure was another story -- I honestly could've painted my nails better myself. She kept insisting on a no chip manicure and I replied that I just came for a regular manicure. I noticed she was painting them quickly and wasn't sure if it's because she was in a rush or because she was able to paint them efficiently but still have a flawless application. She was in a rush, I had to point out sides that she missed on numerous nails and had her redo two of my fingers because she kept layering coats on quickly without letting the previous dry! After hearing that I had weddings to attend this weekend she replied "see you should get no chip!". I mean with the paint job I received I might as well. I was in looks for a great nail shop and until i found perfectly polished i hadn't found one. I saw a groupon but missed the deadline for the offer and found the nail shop yet again on yelp. I get the best treatment there...its almost like i was long time friends with the staff. Its such a relaxing enviornment and you feel so pampered and relax afterwards. They play movies while you soak your fingers and or toes in warm water or sit and get a full set, whatever the case its awesome. I love the no chip when I don't do the gel overlays.
