We had one of those Wayne Dalton garage door openers. I'm not entirely sure why they exist because no one aside from maybe Wayne Dalton actually seems to like them. Sometime in the afternoon I heard a very strange "pop" or "snap" sound. It's hard to describe. I go take a look around and can't see anything amiss. Later, my wife gets home and tells me the garage door didn't want to open when she got home. I go out, take a look around, "Great, it won't open and whatever is going on is beyond my skill level." Right around 6:00pm I call expecting a voicemail or something. Instead, I believe I got Craig on the phone, who schedules me for service the next morning. A conversion was done (no more Wayne Dalton) and I can tell now that prior spring system had been a problem for a while. The door is smooth and everything works great. Service took less than two hours. The gentlemen (I think I dealt with Craig, but I can't remember now) who handled the install was informative, nice, and respectful of our space (more so than he needed to be for me). Great experience overall aside from... well... I wasn't in the mood to pay for a replacement but things break--especially Wayne Dalton springs apparently. What can you do? One thing to note: my door is an 8' door. When you get a quote on the phone, it's going to be for a standard 7' door. There was an additional charge at the time of service because of that. I'd actually suggest they ask potential clients about that ahead of time. I wasn't surprised because I've learned all about 8' doors since I moved in here, thinking they were "standard" when they are not! But this might shock someone who wasn't expecting that. read more

They have 2 locations. This and another by Vistancia(N Peoria). The person who repaired my garage springs is Craig. Not sure which location he reports to. One of my springs broke around 3pm on a Saturday. I knew I was not getting any service until the next day or Monday after calling two other garage door repair co's. I spoke to Craig. I explained the broken springs. He said no problem I can be there around 5. He gave me a quote over the phone and we agreed on a price. He came after 5pm and finished the repair in approximately an hour. He was able to work around the garage with a car in jack stands(I was in the middle of a car repair). He also replaced my old flimsy rollers with heavy duty ball bearings rollers. Craig is a pro! Check out the yelp voucher; $150 for $200. Who said you can't get great service at fair pricing! Talked to Craig on October 12 at 9:30 am. That experience was good. He took all the information and even suggested if I wanted to save money, I can buy the garage door myself and only have them install it. Great suggestion. Set the appointment for October 23 and explained everything in detail, as I was the one who would be paying for the installation as a gift to my real estate client. Everything was set. My client takes off work from 2-4 pm and no show. My client calls Craig and he tells her no appointment was ever set. I call Craig and he tells me the same thing. I then reminded him of our exact conversation, and he recalled it then. He said long haul covid has his memory in shambles. I was sympathetic, even have friends who experience the same. He was a bit rude about my client taking off of work and being inconvenienced but he agreed to make it up by installing on the weekend. I talk to my client, she suggests a Sunday mid-morning installation would be best, and I call and relay the information. Craig says Sunday is not an option. His guys need a day off from work. I said he should have made it clear because the weekend typically includes Saturday and Sunday. He hangs up on me. Moving on to another company. It seems in another review Craig was guilty of not respecting people's time off. read more

Upon leaving for work the sprocket on my garage door opening system broke. After doing some research Performance Door Service seemed to be the most recommended business for my needs in Peoria. I called and Alesha was able to help me and schedule someone to come out within the hour. 15 minutes before getting to my house the technician Rick called to let me know he was on the way. He was very friendly upon arrival and looked at our problem and gave me all my options. Basically repairs (we had another issue in addition to the broken sprocket) or replacement of the whole unit. Seeing as the price difference was so close I opted to go for replacement. He had the old one off and replaced in under an hour. He saw that the current setup we had on our garage wall was more advanced than the one that came with the new unit so he found a comparable one in his truck that he offered instead. He was worried that it had a couple of scratches on it, but I was just so happy he was willing to do that I honestly couldn't have cared about the few cosmetic scratches. It works great and has all the features we were use to. He even took the time to walk me through how to program the remotes (old and new) and the keypad outside. After he finished he cleaned everything up and made it look like he had never been there. He was excellent, explaining everything along the way. I will definitely be using Performance Door Service again in the future for any of my garage door needs. (Hopefully it won't be too soon - no offense.) This is a continuation of my review from Smokey's Garage Door. Performance Door Service was AWESOME! They were pleasant, on time - meaning early is on time and on time is late ;), very knowledgeable. The repair tech Craig was the best. I had him replace a plastic part that broke, but come to find out the motor was burned up as well as a result of the garage door malfunction. He didn't charge for the 2 hours he was her for installing that plastic piece. He only charged the reasonable amount to replace the garage door system and labor. Fantastic. Called at 2pm and Craig came out after his last repair at 5pm He could have just scheduled me for the next day but he wanted me to have a working garage door that night. He showed up with all the parts needed to fix it and was done in under an hour. Even replaced the light bulb in the garage for me. I recently had 2 door openers installed. The first install went very well. The next day I had opener installed on my RV garage. The install went well but I'm knocking down one star, here's why. When Craig the owner of Performance Door was installing the opener in the RV garage the door was in the up position. The opener and rail were ready to hang and I asked Craig if he was going to wrap a rag around the end of the rail to prevent marks on the door, he said no. As he was working I heard the rail sliding on the open door. When the job was finished there was black marks from the rail on my door panels. Craig said it will come off. Two issues here, why didn't he wrap a rag around the rail to prevent damage and why did I have to clean the black marks, he should have did that. Also when I got the marks off the paint on the door was scratched. Craig, I assume you will read this, please take this as away to improve your business. I give Craig credit for being a hard worker and he puts in long hours to support his business. Will I recommend him to others? Yes. read more
