I had already checked on Yelp and other places to see if I could find info about Performance Motor Works and any other shops in the Sacramento/Roseville area. I am really glad I decided to go with PWM. Yes, it saved me money but the other big part about it is customer service. Go to the stealerships and you're just the next customer in line. I was looking for a BMW service center in the Roseville/Rocklin area for things I don't have the equipment to do myself - like a/c recharging. My a/c wasn't blowing as cold as it was previously so I knew the car was losing refrigerant in the a/c system. I contacted several service centers here on Yelp and Performance Motor Works responded quickly with a great price on a promotion they are having on a/c system recharging. Honest and capable shop. I spin my own wrenches but just didn't have the time to deal with whatever was ailing my 2006 Mini Cooper S Convertible. Pulling away from a stop briskly it just started freewheeling like the engine and transmission were disconnected from each other. I took a peek and the halfshafts were intact. No crunchy or grinding noises so I assumed the gearbox internals were likely OK. I popped the airbox and confirmed that the shift linkage cables were fine. Hmmm. At this point I'm thinking I stripped out the differential or maybe spun the center out of the clutch friction disc. I was hoping for the latter because it would be cheaper. So I ordered up a new Valeo clutch kit: disc ,pressure plate, flywheel, throwout bearing and bolts as I toyed with the idea of installing it myself.. I knew a cheapo clutch was installed right before I bought the car a year and a half ago, so it seemed the most likely problem. I was also getting an occasional groan when pulling out in the morning which I believed to be the driver's halfshaft. Had one on the shelf waiting to find the time to install it. Had it towed to their shop with the notion I'd be paying for 10 + hours of labor blah blah blah for a new clutch install. In no rush and out of town I return to a call from them. Car is ready. The halfshaft splines stripped out and it was spinning internally. A really unusual failure, which I missed on a quick glance. Grand total...$330. They also diagnosed an intermittent TPS monitoring and ABS failure as a couple of faulty ABS sensors. I'll take care of those myself. Bottom line, I got a very fair price for honest competent work. They could easily have gone ahead and swapped out the clutch - a MUCH bigger $$$ job on this car and I would've been none the wiser. They didn't. Honest shop, good work, fair price. read more

I took my 2009 Audi S3 here for a problem with my thermostat that was causing a check engine light. They were able to find the problem and do the repair and now my car runs awesome. We had a small issue later in the day after picking up the car that was unrelated to the repair they had made. With no questions, they took the car in and fixed the problem at no charge. I found this shop on Yelp and it was conveniently located close to my work off Pacific in Rocklin. I spoke to Dan on the phone about bringing my car in and he was really friendly and helpful. When I brought my car in the next day Dave the owner met me at the counter and checked me in. I was suprised how friendly and helpful he was. My experience in the past is when I bring my car into be fixed I'm dealing with someone who is good at talking to cars but NOT to people. We had a good conversation and I told him the things I dI'd already to help them trouble shoot the issue. I was afraid I was going to have to get a new engine because my car was throwing 9 error codes and was running on 3 of 6 cylinders. I asked them to use their code reader to see if it worth salvaging. To my surprise later that day they found a loose bank of fuses and a broken spark plugs and ignition coil. I had a number in my head that I was willing to spend before it was just going to scrap the car and they fixed it for way less and my now runs perfect! This is my very first post, which means I am compelled to write this review! I have been taking my BMW here for a couple of years and have been very happy with the service. I recently brought my car in because all the panel lights were on, the wipers would come on randomly, sometimes it was hard to steer the car and many more problems. Because of the complexity of the computer boards and wiring, it was very difficult to determine the issue (but mainly because my car would act up only occasionally making it more difficult to pinpoint the issue). While it did take some time to figure out this issue, Dan and Travis during this time were fantastic at explaining everything they were doing to get the issue resolved. They went above and beyond for me and gave me a more than a fair price for all the time and effort they put into my car. They could have easily charged me much more than they did. If I could have given them a tip, I would have. They are honest, trustworthy, patient and extremely knowledgeable about the intricacies of these complex German cars! Thank you guys!!! read more

During our last year of factory service in 2013, I scouted out 3 different non-dealer BMW service places. I picked PMW and have been happy since. Now we have two BMW's and these folks have really helped. Easy to work with, honest, responsive, timely. They do all our tire work too. I've been really happy here. They even gave me a referral for my Lexus service that has worked out pretty well also. read more

I've been going to PMW off and on for almost 5 years now. At first, the service was excellent however, it has fallen off a little over the years. Almost every experience has been a good one except the last. I went in to get an oil leak and coolant leak fixed. The same day I got my car back it overheated and the check coolant light came on. I discovered that there was no antifreeze in the car. I thought maybe they forgot to add it so I added some and it came right out and spilled all over the garage floor. This really sucked because it was on a Friday night and they aren't open on weekends and they had already had my car for a day because they had to order the part. As a result, I was left without a car for 5 days. They paid to get my car towed and fixed the problem. I was told the part they replaced was faulty. As a loyal customer, I felt I should have been compensated a little more( free oil change or discount). Prices are definitely cheaper than the dealership and the owner is a cool guy but its still expensive and I expect better service for the amount of money paid. read more

We , like many people who own a BMW, searched for an alternative to having the dealer work on our vehicle. grant it, we have almost 300,000 miles on our car and we've taken great care of it, but it's time to get things repaired or replaced. Well, I should know by now, you get what you pay for and today was the day that we had a wake-up call. We were explicit in telling Mike about the noise coming from the back wheel ,especially when backing the car out of a space. You could not miss the noise as it sounded like mettle on mettle. we thought it was the back brakes but we were told that the "lip of the rooter was Lifted" and this was the cause of the noise So they replaced the rooter and brakes on the FRONT of the vehicle. When we picked the car up, the load noise from the back is still there and now they claim , oh, that's from the "Drive Shaft" which will coast you another $1000 to fix! We still had another 2000 miles left on our front brakes. Mike claims he NEVER heard the noise from the rear of the car, which is a LIE, because he was the one that told us the NOISE was coming from the FRONT BRAKES! We are furious. The money spent on fixing the front brakes (which could have waited) would have gone towards fixing the DRIVE Shaft that is driving us nuts! Mike apologized and asked what he could do to fix the problem. He could have admitted his mistake and put that $500 that he just charged us for fixing the front brakes towards fixing the drive Shaft, the noise for which we brought the car in for repair! Instead, he offered to pay for a weekend car rental at $28 a day and fix the Drive Shaft for an additional $1000.00. We will not go back to Performance Works or any other business that claims to be BMW Experts. The lesson is this, You get what you pay for and these places do not save you money in the long run, instead you will end up taking your car in for repairs on a consistent basis. At least with the Service department at the dealer, you have some recourse if the person working on your vehicle screws it up! Do no trust your high performance vehicle to Performance Works. You will be sorry and end up paying more than you expected. PGill/JSteele read more

What a welcome relief to finally talk to and deal with professionals without getting the feeling of getting fleeced. My son recently bought a used BMW from a private owner where the rear view mirror was incorrectly installed. PMW not only installed the mirror correctly at no charge, but also replaced the windshield at no charge because it was an after market glass and cracked while they were removing the mirror. The passenger seatbelt also had an issue. Mike asked me to talk to a specific service technician at Niello BMW and check if the seatbelt assembly is covered under the certified pre owned BMW warranty. It sure was covered and thanks to the honesty of Mike, I am getting the seatbelt fixed at BMW for no charge. Thanks Dave and Mike, you have a customer for life! read more

After the work was completed we had a little issue but Dan, the service manager went out of his way to make everything right. This place, hands down, the place to be for any type of euro vehicle. this is the go to shop whenever I have any type of service to be made. Dave and Dan genuinely care about the car and the customers. So my fuel pump was having problems. First reaction, take it to performance. These guys called BMW, turned out I had a warranty on the piece ( which I had no idea) and let me know i could get it fixed for free! I have been taking my 2005 BMW M3 convertible to PMW for about a year now. I used to patronize another independent shop but have since moved my business to Performance Motor Works. This shop is amazing! Excellent work, decent prices, and a very knowledgeable staff make for a pleasant experience in having work done on my Bimmer. I would recommend this shop to anyone with a German vehicle. One more thing. I called with questions while attempting to do some repairs on my car and Dan was extremely helpful, answered my questions, and gave me the answers that were necessary to complete the repair. I'm new to the Sacramento area and have been looking for the right place to take my BMW for service. My little 330i has never let me down and I want to give it the knowledgeable care it deserves. I took it to Performance Motor Works for the first time today and Mike explained clearly everything that would be done for its 100,000 mile service and inspection. He called me when he said he would and the car was ready when he said it would be. He described a couple of places where there were tiny amounts of oil seepage and the time I had before I needed to fix each one. I was just so relieved to find a place where things were explained clearly and I wasn't pressured to fix things that could safely wait to be fixed. I felt completely secure that I was being treated honestly and my beautiful little car was being maintained by skilled professionals. As long as she keeps running, I will continue to go back to Performance Motor Works for all of her service. read more
