I just came home from a great experience at Performance Motor Works. Was driving home yesterday and a paint bucket flew from another lane and...... bam! Landed right on my front end. My kidney grills were all popped out and was afraid there was more damage inside. Called this morning, spoke with Ron and he was very courteous and said I could come in today. So, drove over there and met him and Dave, one of the owners. They were professional and made me feel at ease. They wrote me up, took the car out back and later they showed me what happened. Since there was no major damage, they fixed the grills for me and did not charge me for the inspection. I cannot tell you how relieved I am since BMW parts and service can be quite expensive. Took my BMW 650i to fix the lower coolant hose, which they did fix, and told me they had found a "hairline" crack in the actual coolant tank. Then, a week later, I was still leaking coolant and took the car back to them. They said that the tank's "hairline" crack had gotten worse and they quoted me a price which was not cheap. I then checked with another place in town that had done previous work on my car and they gave me their quote for the work which was about $90.00 cheaper than Performance, so when I spoke to the owner and shared that price with him, he didn't even both to match it and lost my business now and any possible future business. If you're looking for an auto repair shop these guys are the best I've experienced to diagnose and repair pre-smog test code errors. I had two errors preventing my car from being smogged. Dave, Dan, Travis and Mike were relentless in figuring out that two "needle in a haystack" issues were the culprit, a stuck secondary air valve and old/loose vacuum lines. They worked within my budget and didn't nickel and dime me to death based upon the time needed to figure out what was really going on. Outstanding and fast professional service. I bought in my daughters VW Passat with front end damage to the lower grill, lower spoiler and wheel well plastic cover. My daughter had hit a coyote running across an intersection in Rocklin at night. Performance Motor Works ordered the parts and had the car repaired by the next day! Looked like brand new. Excellent work done on the car. They also performed a safety check on the entire vehicle and I was advised by email of all the things that may need service (2 items) and advised about all of the items that were very good on the car with a very professional check list. The service performed was photographed and an explanation was given on the work to be done, the cost and if I would okay the work or deny the work all on the email form. I also received a phone call to discuss everything to be done. I was very impressed and the repair costs were very reasonable. My daughter is happy and I am satisfied with the repairs. I can't tell everyone enough about how amazing this place is. I love to work on my own cars as much as I can but there are certain things I'm not capable of doing, especially anything electrical related. We all know how many computers/electronics these newer Mercedes/Bmws have. It's very difficult for me to trust someone with my cars but after reading the reviews of this place and seeing for clean the shop and waiting area is, I had to take 2 of my cars (M5 and G500) in there. They took my X5 to run errands to the nursery and Target. I had to leave the car overnight as service was not completed in one day. I picked it up and found a sheet of plastic in the trunk from a nursery with used irrigation parts, dirt from plants and a sand play set from Target. When I asked owners Dave and Mike who had used my car they were "baffled" and the 2 mechanics also denied using my car. This was my first experience with them......and my last. I've been taking my car here for the last three years. Their service is excellent and very reasonable. A very clean shop. They are very friendly and will give you a ride if needed. The only reason I don't give them the fifth star, is they took my license plate frames off and put their business ones on without my consent. They did put mine back on after I informed them of it. Since there isn't an option for a 6, I'll give them a 5. I brought them what I would consider an impossible task, every other place turned it down until I lucked into this place. I had a car with no engine, that had gone through two replacements from salvage yards that didn't run and were put in and removed by total hacks. I had another engine shipped and I brought down a box of random parts along with what was stuffed in the car by the hacks. Between Dan and Tyler, somehow they got it done via several parts searches, salvage yards etc.. (This is the short version of a very long process) When it came time to discuss the final bill, they proceeded to amaze me again. I'm so accustomed to being taken advantage that I was just ready to take it, (because of their ability throughout the process) but, no, not these guys. This place was recommended to me by another local mechanic who couldn't fit me into his schedule when I was going to be in Rocklin. Said, "call Dan at Performance Motor Works. Maybe he can fit you in. He'll do a good job and they specialize in German cars." So I called and Dan was just fabulous! I was only going to be in Rocklin for a day and needed the oil pan on my bmw resealed. Apparently that's a nearly all day thing. He checked his schedule and was able to fit me in!! I arrived first thing when they opened at 8am and he got me all checked in (they are all digital and things were so easy) and handed the car over to his bmw guy, (Phill, I think he said). I had to work while I waited and they have a fabulous little waiting area with free Wi-Fi, coffee, water, and soda, and a lovely restroom!! Very comfortable and fabulous "office for a day"!! They kept me appraised of the status of things and they even had my car done by 2pm!! Everything runs smoothly now and the cost was easily $5-600 less than the dealer!! Thanks Dan and Phil!!!
