I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent experience at your CarMax…read morelocation on Cyfair with salesman Patrick Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham initially reassured me that I could trust him despite my past negative experiences with other dealerships. I was preapproved for a 2020 Kia Sorento (navy blue) with a $2,000 down payment, and after test driving, I was very excited about the purchase. However, when it came time to finalize my income details, my down payment unexpectedly increased from $2,000 to $2,800--even though I had already chosen my bank and received approval. Since I could not afford the increased amount, I agreed to consider a different option--a 2019 Kia Sorento(burgundy). Mr. Cunningham assured me that this vehicle would be ready for pickup on Friday, September 12. On that day, he asked me for my Social Security number again, which I found unusual, but I complied under the assumption it was a verification step. To my shock, my credit was run two more times that morning. This not only further lowered my credit score but also caused my down payment to increase to $4,100--more than double the original agreement. The experience left me frustrated, upset, and in tears. Instead of offering genuine solutions, I was told my only options were to provide a co-signer or to pay the additional $2,000, which I did not have. For comparison, when I later visited your Southwest Freeway location, salesman Jordan provided outstanding customer service. He worked with me to find alternatives and successfully presented my original credit application to the bank. As a result, I was approved for the 2020 Kia Sorento with the original $2,000 down payment--exactly what should have happened from the start. Instead of picking up my car now I have to wait for the car to get shipped again to a different location further away. This situation caused unnecessary stress, financial strain, and wasted time. While I am happy to have ultimately received the car I wanted, the process at the Cyfair location was unacceptable and avoidable. I hope CarMax takes this feedback seriously and ensures that customers are not subjected to repeated hard inquiries, miscommunication, and misleading information during the car-buying process. I am giving two stars since I am getting the car I wanted originally.

Buying a car is never a fun experience. However its an necessary evil if you want to buy a car, or…read moreso they want you to believe. My experience with Northwest Dodge is not as extremely terrible as many of those who went there for service, however it was an experience that may benefit other if shared. Backstory: My wife tasked me with finding a cheap cash car for her dad. I was not given any particulars on what to look for other than a cheap reliable car. So after a quick Autotrader search I landed at a few cars which were duds, or were already sold before we arrived at the dealerships. The last car on her our short list was a low mileage ford fiesta. I called the dealership and spoke to "Karen" and she confirmed she had the car. After confirming she had the vehicle Karen gave me the scripted response, so when are you coming in. I told Karen I would be there at 6:30. Karen again gave me the scripted response ok great, ill have the car ready for you when I get there. To be fair, I am sure there are a lot of "customers" who ask about a car and flake which is probably extremely annoying. How hard is it to treat person with decency? Nevertheless I arrived at the dealership 15 minutes early. I walked and spoke to the receptionist who was extremely polite. After checking in with her I waited for not Karen, but Terrance. Terrance arrived with gusto, right away he was personable. Terrance got the keys to the car and made a copy of my ID. Terrance brought out the keys and the dealer plate and gave me the green light to take the car for a spin. I performed a visual inspection of the car. The car looked decent for what it was. The only con about the car and it wasn't the dealerships fault was the car didn't have power windows. ***** The car is a 2016 and doesn't have power windows ::::mind blown::::**** So I drove the car and it drove well enough. The car wasn't anything special but it was on par with the vehicle price. I showed the boss and got her opinion of the car. She was luke warm to the idea of the car, but figured if we could get a really good deal it could work. But if it wasn't a great deal she would rather us walk away from. Keeping that in mind to war I went or so I thought. Again not the dealerships fault but an oversight of mine, in my "excitement" I didn't notice the little sneaky sticker on the passenger side windshield. The infamous dealer add on sticker with almost 2500 worth of add on on a car listed for $5995 hmm...What!! Why would they do that?? Obviously I know why, but come on Northwest Dodge. A fool is born everyday and if you don't try I guess you don't know what you can get away. The generic dealership response is many people find value in these unwanted in my situation additions for a "small" premium. After realizing there was a Dealer Add on Sticker which equated to a high percentage of the vehicle sale price. I handed Mr. Terrance the keys and the dealer plate and told him it was not going to work. I thanked him for his time. If there was a bright spot it would have been my interaction with Mr. Terrance. He was understanding and seemed to shoot straight with me. Terrance without bashing his employer appeared to be honest and genuine with me. Which was much appreciated!! I thanked Mr. Terrance for his time and left without purchasing a car. The take away... do your research. Don't waste the sales people time. Don't waste your time. Ask questions. And ask more questions. If I would have known about the dealer added options sticker I would have never went to the dealership freeing up Karen and Terrances schedule to help an actual customer. If I would have paid attention to the pictures of the vehicle description I would have noticed they vehicle had crank windows. So after leaving the dealership I got a phone call from Mr. Terrance. Mr. Terrance asked me to come back to the dealership to discuss numbers. Again Mr. Terrance was extremely personable and professional in his approach. The whole process from start to finish felt authentic, and it wouldn't surprise me if he was one of the Top sale people there because his process was smooth. It should be noted if I was ever to buy a car from northwest dodge I would make sure I contacted Terrance!!! I spoke to the wifey and after discussing with her for a few minutes I begrudgingly went back. Terrance's supervisor had me an offer sheet which removed all the cost associated with the Dealer Add Options!! Wow, a dealership that stands by there word. The price advertised is the price they are actually selling the car for. And while I don't recall the managers name, because our interaction was extremely brief, I appreciate your good will in attempt to rectifying what I would consider a horrible company policy. I wish I could remember your name because I would hope that if someone reads this they can at least ask for you when they need helping making "the deal" but with the amount of turn over in

As far as "working something out." I did not find anything of that sort offered. I did find out that the offending salesperson, a Josh..... was NOT fired. He just went back to work the next day, another notch on his unscrupulous salesman's belt. This condoning of his practices certainly points to joe myers toyota as a store that has NO morals, whatever. Who would have thought a used car salesman would have any? Does NOT excuse his behavior and his blatant, eye-to-eye LYING! BUT, he managed to sell me his car, or rather, the car he wanted me to buy instead of the one I wanted to purchase. Fraud! Management right up to the front office of Joe Myers INC. condones it. You decide whether or not you want to show up there to buy any car, used or new. Yesterday I received a refund check from JOe Myers, toyota for....$5. It was a return of an overcharge on the registration procedure. It seemed quite incongruous to me. On the one hand, I was defrauded by a lying salesman of a car costing $35,000+, but on the other, they made sure to return their $5 over charge for the registration papers. The graph above my first remarks stated previously shows the picture. There are some 5's for service done properly, but the bottom of the graph showing those totally unhappy with shopping at Joe Myers Toyota runs right off the graph! I did, finally sell the car I purchased from Joe Myer's stooge and now own the one I first walked into the Joe Myers toyota to buy. I used CARMAX to do it. The buying and selling experiences I have had with them are 180 degrees in pleasant experience from the Joe Myers, gang. I did lose $1500 though. Whenever you sell then buy a car you loose something. With Josh Rios, I lost the $1500.
