The guys showed up when they were supposed to each day (3 day job), the equipment generated very little dust in the house, and the guys got nearly an exact match on the stain color to match the adjacent wood floor we had done 15 years earlier. My wife new exactly what she wanted, from Pinterest but we couldn't find the exact color on any sample. We had hundreds of samples and not one marched. Ritchie Floors has refreshed our floors and it has made a major difference in both appearance and durability. We had some real wear from chairs and pet scratches that you can't see now. Mike and his team were very flexible with time so we could have this done since it requires moving furniture from room to room. They also installed wide plank oak floors in two bedrooms (one at a time) that were carpeted and the results perfectly match our existing wood flooring. With each installation they brought the wood over a few days in advance, and in one case this rainy spring Mike mentioned it was too humid so we waited a few days before installing it per his advice. The installation team have all been very friendly and agreeable, and they've been to our house about 10 times now between the refinishing and new wood flooring. I've recommended them to a couple of people now. read more

The floors are beautiful- there is no describing the before and after and pictures do not do the floors justice. I highly recommend this business. The WORST of the WORST. The other recent reviews sum it up, and I didn't even read them before this guy was hired!! My contractor hired him to redo our floors. He NEVER showed up on time. EVER. Made excuses. The first was a car accident. The second was that he got sick. The third time he just sent his men. I stuck with him for over 6 months because my contractor told me he would make me happy. He never listened to what I asked. My floor was separating, he said he couldnt fix it but he could make it look better. Ok. So I left him alone. Came back. What did he do? Nothing. When I pointed it out, he said "give him another chance". Ok so I did. What Did I get? NOTHING. I had holes in the floor. What did he do? NOTHING. I asked him to fill it in. He ignored me. What he did was leave the job at 3pm. I turned around and him and his guys disappeared. No telling me anything. If the job was done, when can I walk on it. My contractor called him. He told me "not to step on it until 8pm". Ok, I didnt then when I walked downstairs, I saw a half done job. So I called him back, and told him my displeasure. He said "you know what, forget it" and he walked out the door. He has my money. And now he can have the bad review to go along with it. Along with a BBB complaint and legal action if I have to. read more

Best hardwood flooring refinish ever! Not only is the Ritchie team awesome but they have 20 plus years of experience in what they are doing..our floor looks like satin..can I say AMAZING compared to who did it the first time! We give them 10 stars for the work and ability to works with us as we had to get movers to move furniture and stop our flooring process right in the middle of sanding for some unexpected surgery! I have had three homes serviced by this company. The first one was beautifully done. The second one looked good. However, what Mike said would get done and what actually got done was a different story. There was some pet damage where 4 boards needed replaced. Part of the damage was not repaired. It never was completed. The last job was an install. What a mess. There were broken boards installed. Boards installed over majorly uneven places in the floor, large gaps between boards, damage on trim where installer cut around closets, horrible job cutting around floor vents, laid boards on top of floor trim vs butting up to trim. He has promised to come back many times. He finally came out after a few weeks. I showed him the faults. He promised to send an installer to fix the problems. That was 5 weeks ago. Now, he won't even respond to any of my communication. I would stay away from this company. read more

They did wood floors in our kitchen and front hall last March. About a week ago, a faulty board splintered and caught my sock in the hallway. We called and left a few messages to see if they could fix it but they never return our calls. Very disappointing that this happened less than a year after install and the company has no interest in correcting their work. read more

WARNING! Huge gaps between planks, Some large enough to fit a quarter. vents cut so poorly some of my vent covers fall in. Nose on top of stairs put in wrong, had to pay someone to replace to prevent an injury. Flooring inspected noted nails used only every 20-36 inches (should be 8-10). Did not nail down floor board before putting down the boards, all the floors squeak. Wish I could post pictures of the gaps with a quarter sitting between the planks. If you saw pictures of my floors, you would throw their number in the garbage. FYI, this same complaint has been posted on this site before by me and other people, but it gets pulled. I am going to talk to yelp about that. I will keep checking to make sure this post stays. I saved for ten years to have my floors, and they will need to be pulled. read more

Please read the negative reviews! This is real and you will save money and hassle! I can send you photos of every example below. He was recommended by two independent parties, reasonably priced and had availability. Asked if he would use a dustless system, said yes. Asked if we should remove shoe molding to protect base because the base was in perfect condition. He cockily told my wife "Ma'am we're not in the business of damaging people's homes!" Let me tell you. Door frames mangled. Shoe sanded and nicked. Baseboards gouged. Some baseboards cracked. Some kitchen cabinets nicked. Overall floor was rippled from improper sanding. Undercut two newel posts so there is a 1/2 inch gap above the floor! (It looked like if I tried to do it with a sawzall after a couple cocktails!) Two different nosings installed improperly at top of stairs - separated with barely any pressure from my foot. highly unsafe! thresholds to carpeted rooms installed improperly - cracked on first step. window frames damaged - large chunks knocked out of the pine. Had him sand stair treads - damaged spindles, posts and risers. Ripples like moguls on treads. My wife could feel the bumps and admittedly knows nothing about wood. Most doors damaged and stacked up against each other with no protection - large gouges in previously perfect wood doors from door handles. I have photos of all of this. Base was perfect - very few tiny dings. Now we have to paint the base or replace the entire base and stain to match, which never works out. Pounds of sawdust in ventilation system - froze up air conditioner - solid ice. Need to have ducts professionally cleaned. Inch of sawdust on AC filters. Filled up a small shop vac with whatever I could reach with the hose. (The guy that ended up finishing the job (very nicely) actually used the sawdust on the floor to illustrate his sanding procedure by drawing a picture in the sawdust with his finger. I am not making this up) Also - one of the parties that recommended him had work done AFTER us (and after I told him everything)... HE DID THE SAME THING! - broke wood, under cut newel posts - same exact thing! Please read this - please tell your friends - please don't give this guy any money. I regret paying half up front, cause finishing his job and repairing his damage was way more than half! (If you want a great flooring company, let me know, i got a guy.) read more

terrible customer service. Installed hardwood floors in my house, They never let the wood sit in the house before installation. They delivered it on a rainy morning and imediately jnstalled it even after I had questioned about installing it before it had a chance to dry out.They said that it was not necessary. A month after installation when the floor shrunk the gaps between each piece were wide enough to roll a quarter down. After numerous calls they finally sent someone out who tried to remedy the problem by filling the open gaps with wood filler. It lasted one week when the wood filler cracked and looked even worse than the original gaps in thye floor. That was all they would do and never responded to any more of my calls.This was suppose to be a professional flooring company and I was charged accordingly. read more

Ritchie Floors was highly recommended by neighbors who used him several years ago. They installed wood floors in our family room and kitchen to match our dining room and living room. They broke a toilet in our powder room and didn't seal it properly when they put it back. They left the job as "complete", with the toilet leaking into the crawlspace, didn't putty any nail holes, installed the wrong size trim, installed broken trim, 1/4" gaps and generally shoddy work. They came back to "fix" it and damaged newly installed dry wall, again left it as complete. Owner Michael Ritchie doesn't seem to be bothered by the performance of his installers. 2 weeks later, still waiting for a carpet repairman to fix the base of the stairs. read more
