Wife just showed up for an oral exam that was scheduled 3 months ago. After the surgeon looks at my wife's mouth (no x rays, etc.) She returns to the waiting room to retrieve her purse. She tells me they are asking for $150. I asked why? She felt uncomfortable and asked me to come with her to ask. I asked why no charges were talked about before the exam. A woman behind the desk claimed it was explained in a "welcome packet". My wife says she never received a packet. I asked for a copy of this so called letter. While this woman was looking for the paper. Another woman came in to the conversation. She says it is a cost they were not sure insurance would cover or not. And would refund our money if they did. I asked why they did not do a pre-approval before our visit. They had 3 months. I got no response. She then goes on to explain how she was going to send partial pre-approvals for the whole job, because she was unsure if we would max out or not. So even after the $150 we are still not going to know the total out of pocket cost. Still no explanation of the no pre-approval for the visit. Still waiting for this welcome packet... I tell my wife this looks like a scam. They never authorized a charge the and now require payment?!? The surgeon my wife was seeing now comes to the counter. Aggressive and confrontave, saying what a reputable business they were. Seeming offended I dare question their sketchy practices. Now I have 3 people confronting me at once and frankly feeling attacked. I told him I did not need his interjection. Just the supposed copy of the paper we were suppose to get before we came. He continues to be belligerent and the first lady hands me the copy of the supposed letter. I didn't even read it. I told him it didn't matter at this point. The way he was talking and acting torwards me, he would not be getting my business anyway. After I walk out I ask my wife about the letter. She had never seen it before. And it was dated with today's date! In one part it reads "we will be happy to answer any questions you have concerning financial arrangements". Yeah, with a team of pissed off triggered people outraged you dare to question anything! I read on more and see the charge is $105 not $150. Never got to ask Dr Scam what the extra $45 was for. And frankly do not care. I did not authorize any charge. If insurance doesn't pay. They won't be getting it from me. We will find a reputable surgeon. And will be advising (our Dentist) to no longer refer to this place. BEWARE OF THIS ONE! I think another post from two weeks ago calls this place a "cash grab". Sounds appropriate..... read more

After a year of good periodontal care at Periodontal Concepts (root planing & regular cleanings) I agreed to a recommended bone graft surgery that I later cancelled due to my aversion to opioid pain medication that Dr Derhalli had prescribed. I had expected that there would be further consultation (we had discussed a simple extraction as a reasonable alternative), but instead I received a perfunctory formal letter from Dr Derhalli berating me for having "very little desire/motivation to work towards healthy dentition", and cancelling my future cleaning appointments. Dr Derhalli's disregard for my capacity to make informed decisions regarding my own health care was very disappointing, but good to know about before I became further involved with Periodontal Concepts. As a retired health care provider myself, I could only regard Dr Derhalli's behavior as very unprofessional and insensitive to client concerns. read more

Beware of this cancel culture practice. I needed medical treatment and they denied me available appointment because I don't have a vaccine and because I traveled out of state (Oregon and Idaho). I have no Covid symptoms, I have immunity and literally traveled over 10 days ago to neighboring state Idaho. People who live on the border of two states always travel to different state for work or leisure, but only i....ts would not apply their brains to make proper judgment. They are brainwashed, and you can see it. I asked them why would they allow me to take appointment if I would be vaccinated, even though both vaccinated and unvaccinated can transmit Covid, they gave me no answer. If you value common sense and value medical professionals who treat you indiscriminately, stay away from this practice. They had 3.5 stars reviews before my review, so I guess they are not that good anyways. 3.5 stars for periodontal clinic is below most local coffee shops.I canceled appointment and scheduled with another reputable practice. read more

Dr. Derhalli is fantastic!! Simple as that. A man of character and good morals, extremely professional as well very friendly and helpful. Made me feel at easy, from the time I got there to the time I left my dental implant procedure. When I first went there about 2 months ago to my first visit, I knew Dr. Derhalli would be the one I was gonna have my implant done with. His staff was very clear on the price, how much my dental insurance was gonna cost and how much my part would be. They were very accommodating and very helpful. I really enjoyed that office from day one. Today was my dental implant day,and I couldn't be any more pleased, Dr. Derhalli was not any less fantastic than any other time, there's only one down side about him, he's a rams fan ;) Dr. Thank you so much for the great dental procedure, I'll be seeing you in a couple weeks for my post-op visit. I don't recommend bringing kids here. The staff was very nice but we had an awful experience with the surgeon. Went in for a simple gum growth surgery and they didn't allow the numbing gel time to work (maybe 30 seconds) before they brought out the needle. My daughter panicked when she felt the sting and pulled away, putting up her hands. She was too afraid to go ahead with the procedure. The doctor got really angry and ended up storming out of the room and throwing the tools on the table. No compassion or kindness. Just made a bad situation ten times worse. Really unprofessional. Again, the rest staff was very kind and professional--the doctor was not. read more

This is a review that I I've been putting off for a few reasons it's a very split review and it's mostly because the care really is exemplary. I hate to give such a low star score to somebody that works so hard. We had to get a special treatment and deep cleaning for my spouse and the people that administered this care were incredibly courteous and extremely knowledgeable and taught us things about dental care we had never heard before which was really cool. They impacted my spouse so much I have never seen him take such good care of his gums and teeth ever since. The worst part about this is the expense and it's not the offices fault our dental insurance did not cover as much as we would have hoped but what ended up happening was the worst part we ended up paying $650 in cash for these two treatments only to find out that actually our insurance was Not going to cover anything for this visit because they were out of area . I'm so disappointed because both my husband and I spoke with the dental office to make sure that they were authorized to honor the insurance plan that we had because we didn't want to run into this very problem that we ended up having. So not that they didn't earn it because they certainly did but it was really a disappointment to have to Fork out more money than we had planned it's hard enough to get Medical Treatments paid for but to have surprises is really awful in this day in age our income is not increasing and these Dental treatments were vital and necessary so we really didn't have a choice and since the treatments were already done getting a bill after the fact there's not much we can do about it. It would have been nice to know ahead of time that the dental office did not qualify to be covered under Insurance before we got the treatment started we could have gone Elsewhere for the remaining treatments and paid a lot less. read more

I had 3 teeth extracted and 2 implants placed at Periodontal Concepts in Vancouver. Dr. Derhalli and his team simply fantastic! Everything thing they the do is first rate. Dr. Derhalli 1. Excellent skills quick and easy with no pain 2. He has the best tolls and technology 3. Reassuring on the cost, ensuring there would be no extra charges. The previous dentist wanted almost double and said it could be additional l costs depending on what we find. 4. Everything is done with your best interests in mind. He used widest and longest implants suited to by bone structure. 5. He is the Doctor that Dentist send their family to. The staff and practice 1. Every Staff member I meant very knowable and efficient but also friendly. 2. They text and email with appoint and reminders for me that is very important He may have a longer waiting list than most, but Dr. Derhalli and his team are worth the wait. read more

Caution! Dr. Derhalli has charged me $1500 for a missed appointment. I had been a patient for about a year.

Dr. Derhalli is the most professional and knowledgeable periodontist I have ever known. His level of expertise and patient care surpasses anything I have seen. His clinical staff is also extremely thorough, and able to educate patients on their treatment, follow up and home care. The ladies in the front assist patients with everything from billing to scheduling, and are extremely helpful. I can't recommend Dr. Derhalli highly enough. I was warned by others that the gum graft that I needed was going to be incredibly horrible/painful. I went in for my consult and Dr Derhalli was knowledgeable, kind, and very good at educating me. He has a very calming demeanor. His support staff were also incredibly friendly. They were willing to talk with me a bit about the procedure and were very kind over the phone. I had the procedure done. The doctor was very gentle and finished the procedure before I knew it! It seems to be healing okay. I would definitely recommend him! read more

This office billing is very dishonest. They quote fees and bill way higher. I will never have treatment there again.

I was referred to Dr. Derhalli's office, by my Dentist, for an evaluation to see if I needed to have root planing done. The first visit was an evaluation for which I was charged $125.00. I was told that the root planing needed to be done and they gave me an estimate of what the cost would be; what portion would likely be paid by my insurance and what amount would be my responsibility. Based on their estimate I went ahead and scheduled an apppointment to have the work done. Before the appointment, I checked with my insurance company and discovered the amount I would be responsible for was considerably more than I had been told by Dr. Derhalli's office (the insurance company paid almost nothing) However, since I had been told by Dr. Derhalli that it was very necessary that I have the planing done, and since I already had the appointment scheduled (and had already paid the $125.00 for the evaluation at his office) I went ahead and had the work done there. The hygenist that did the work was pleasant enough and seemed thorough. I returned to the office after after a few weeks to have the second part of the work done; at which time I mentioned that the upper right quadrant of my teeth/gums were extremely sensitive/painful. They sold me some flouride paste and suggested I use it to see if it would help. I returned again several weeks later for a final evaluation with Dr. Derhalli. During the evaluation I told Dr. Derhalli that I had been using the flouride paste but was still experiencing considerable sensitivityand pain in the upper right area, which had not been there before the root planing. He didn't seem at all concerned and said well sometimes that happens and that it would probably improve eventually. At that time I requested a copy of the perio charting that had been done during the evaluation as I had also requested a copy of the charting that was done at the initial evaluation and I wanted to compare the two. When I finally had a chance to compare the perio charts I noticed that although there was moderate improvement in some areas of my mouth, due to the root planing, other areas had actually been made worse and one of my teeth had actually loosend! He then suggested a treatment plan for me which included having cleanings at his office in between the 2x per year cleanings at my regular dentist's office. When I told him I wouldn't likely be having that done, since my insurance wouldn't pay for it, I was treated very rudely. I later asked his office assistant, just out of curiousity, if there was a referral fee paid to my dentist. This was apparently relayed to Dr. Derhalli, sometime later, who became very incensed that I would ask such a thing. A month later I received a very offensive letter from him implying that it was impertinent of me to ask such a thing. (I think I have every right to ask). The remainder of the letter was equally as rude as he was apparently offended that I wasn't going to go along with his recommendations. Since his treatment actually made some areas of my gums worse and caused one of my teeth to loosen (based on his charting) and since more than 3 months later I am still experiencing pain and sensitivity in the upper right portion of my mouth, that was not there prior to his treatment, you can be sure that I will not be returning to his office. Also, the person that does his scheduling messed up my appointments on 2 occasions.
