This review has nothing to do what the service or the food but values. My staff and I meet at perkins twice a month for a lunch meeting. My family and I eat there often after sunday service. It was sad to find out that Perkins in Newark, will not hire you if you request to have off Sunday mornings for church. Do you know how many christians support your business? This is sad. My daughter was told even after she said shake it work afternoon in the evening that if she could not give all day on sunday to work that she could not even be considered. That should have been told upfront so that she would not have to waste her time and gas for the interview. This may not mean anything to some people, but to others it may. read more

We went for a late breakfast on a weekday and there were just a few other customers. The food came within a few minutes. The waitress left the check and disappeared with a promise to return to check on us which she didn't. The food was not good. The bacon was burned, the creamed chip beef was watery, and the potato pancakes tasted bland. All of this could have been fixed if our waitress had bothered to pay us a visit. We complained to our waitress and the cashier before we left and neither seemed to care. I've never experienced such utter disregard for customer satisfaction. As a small business owner I wouldn't dream of letting a customer leave thinking I just didn't care about their satisfaction. We won't be back. read more

(Honestly it's a first for a dining experience in general). The apparent assistant manager shrugged his shoulders in response to us asking for something different. My boyfriend doesn't like too much meat, and he ordered a dish with A LOT of meat. (He didn't read the menu smh). We alerted this assistant manager after having taken only one bite. I can't get over how Perkins nails delivery every time. NAILED IT. Since March and the beginning of the apocalypse, we've ordered at least five times. We've not jumped around the menu too much. I will give props to the chicken and biscuit breakfast. I'm not a biscuit nor a gravy person, but that dish is pretty darn tasty. Love the waffles, brioche french toast and the hot cakes. We've tried the corned beef hash, and omelettes and have yet to have a bad meal. Even the orange juice is so addictive I've started buying it for home again. We tend to over order and have leftovers the next day. Even their eggs are absolutely delicious on day two. I went to Perkins today with some friends from work and we had a middling to negative experience. Yes, the restaurant was busy, and perhaps it wasn't our waitress's fault that she had a lot of tables to attend to. Sure, blame poor management, I don't care. We did not get the best service and that can be chalked up to whatever you wish. I ordered the Smokehouse Barbeque Smasher, and was immediately disappointed to note that the tots around the edges were not smashed. The waitress explained that the tots under the eggs, cheese sauce and pulled pork were, in fact, smashed, but while consuming this item I could hardly notice the presence of anyone potato products on the bottom, smashed or otherwise. The cheese sauce had an overpowering and disgusting flavor, and the pulled pork just tasted like Slim Jims. Gross. One of my dining companions had biscuits with his omelette, and the biscuits were rock hard. Some guests at our table asked for coffee early in our meal and waited fifteen minutes for it to arrive. A few of my friends said that they liked their food, but whether or not they were just saying so to be polite, I could not discern. This place was honestly kinda ratchet and I wasn't digging the scene. I ate here because my colleagues invited me to join, and the experience was unpleasant and I shall not return. read more

Perkins is a gem. I've never had an entree I didn't enjoy. As one review put it, it's ihop on steroids, And unlike IHOP the food always tastes fresh. It's the closest thing to grandmas cooking you'll get as far as breakfast goes. I highly recommend trying their muffins, my favorite is the lemon poppyseed. This Perkins is in Liberty Plaza / Possum Park Mall on Kirkwood Highway. This restaurant is insanely busy on weekend mornings and the restaurant staff do get a bit harried and start making mistakes, but I found that they'll try their best to correct any slip-ups. If you don't like a crowd and if you don't want to drive all over the strip mall looking for a parking space, you'll do a lot better visiting this restaurant on a weekday evening. For the most part, their breakfast food is acceptable in quality and reasonably priced. I prefer to order from their breakfast menu, even at dinner time, but that's mostly a matter of taste. I had a really great brunch at Perkins. Tristian our waiter was amazing and he handled all of his tables equally. Tristian was very polite, and our food came prompt and hot. I ordered the hearty healthy omelet with a side of avocado, while my bff ordered grits hash browns and pancakes. We both loved our food and will return for my next visit to Delaware. I am really surprised when I saw this all-day-crowded restaurant has a very low number of reviews and decided to write something. This restaurant is a great diner to eat any time. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, whenever I was there, what I ate was great. Even if 50 person waiting in front of the restaurant, it does not take more than 10 minutes to get in. I did not counted but I think there are nearly 80 tables served at a time all day. I can assure you will be getting up full and happy. PS the prices are also decent. read more

I have been to this Perkins location several times for breakfast and I have always been impressed with the service and food. Tonight my wife and I stopped in at 6:45 PM and the place that they were going to seat us at was a table that the waitress just cleaned. The floor underneath the table was filled with food and papers from previous customers; extremely dirty. Additionally the table they were going to sit us on was all wet from the quick cleaning. I've been here a few times and I can tell you it's in my top 10. My partner and I each grabbed a huge breakfast here this morning for only $20 -- commodities included pancakes, meats, eggs, and hashbrowns for both. Such variety, and the bakery menu is ever-changing... the strawberry rhubarb pie they offer during the spring and summer is so good! The food is great, and I love the sausage links -- crispy and salty on the outside, moist on the inside. I always look forward to them, and I always love coming here... I leave happy every time! One of my favorite breakfast places around! I have loved this place for years and years but recently they have really stepped their menu game up. Special menus and themes add more food for me to fall in love with . I have tried something new the last 2 times I went in - when before I always had a go-to (potato pancakes). First I had an omelet with tater tots inside of it - so amazingly delicious that I am hungry now just writing this ! This place is crazy busy every morning because it is so cheap and they have everything you want. I didn't believe that I would have trouble at 10.30 on a Tuesday morning getting a seat here but I did. The average age of the customer is 70. I imagine there is really no point in saying anything should be different about this place as it is obviously 100% doing fine. But that being said wouldn't it be nice if they replaced the carpet, painted the walls and maybe considered new furniture. The pancakes were pretty excellent. I like that I got three eggs. Based on my experience I came to the conclusion that time works differently in this restaurant in comparison to the rest of the universe. The hostess said 20-25 minutes wait but I think we waited for nearly 40 minutes. I think this building should be donated to science to help better understand the relationship of time and space. I just went to this location for breakfast and it was terrible. Ordered eggs over medium, they came out with egg whites mostly liquid. Asked for crispy bacon and had to send that back with the eggs. The hash browns were also undercooked. The new eggs came back with the whites fried hard. My meal came with a "smoked sausage" that was literally a grilled hot dog. Which my wife cannot have on her diet so she gets it on rye toast it comes on one slice of bread. So she has to order another bread for $1.79 for the life of me I know not why. Guestion the waiter and he says it has to be open Face yet other times my wife orders it and gets a whole sandwich. There are many things about Newark, Delaware that made me miss good ol' NYC. And although the University of Delaware is super fun, you can't find a slice of pizza at 3am, there are no cabs for you to take once it starts raining, and the streets are empty and silent after midnight. But alas, Newark did something right, and that something is Perkins Restaurant. Yes, it is diner-esque, but much more family-oriented and upscale. For a late breakfast one weekend while visiting a dear friend, I was able to get an omelet with a side of three pancakes for only 7 bucks. Also, my meal came with the most INCREDIBLE breakfast potatoes I have ever had. Seriously, they were divine and alone are worth three stars. I had to knock of a star for the sub-par coffee and the waitress was a little unavailable, but Perkins was fabulous otherwise. I would definitely make my way over there again whenever I was back in DE. P.S. Order the peanut butter pie, because it's just too good for words. read more
