I started with the garlic grits, which were thick, creamy, and perfectly seasoned, with crispy bacon on top that added just the right amount of salt and texture. The crab Benedict was exceptional, featuring well-seasoned crab cakes paired with perfectly poached eggs and a light, flavorful hollandaise. Each bite was rich without being overwhelming. The Baja omelette was packed with savory chicken and complemented by fresh avocado that kept the dish bright and balanced. The lemon blueberry pancakes were a real standout. My family and I tried this place when they first opened and if it could go wrong, it did. Unfortunately, we tried again this morning and it was a big flop. They served me burnt toast, I sent it back and they fixed it. The potatoes are disgusting. The aftertaste is similiar to old frying oil. The pancakes were plain and tasteless, they needed vanilla in the mix or a better tasting mix. You have to open many of these tiny butter packets to get enough for the pancakes, which were barely warm. The worst is the bacon tastes terrible. But, I got it very crispy and I asked for no crispy on the bacon and I received it all in bits and pieces. See pix below. My spouse says that the grits are not as creamy as other restaurants, but not bad. Lastly, the coffee is so bad and at $3.89 a cup, it would have been great if it's worth the overpriced taste. The wait staff was rude and got impatient with me when I showed her the burnt toast. Her attitude needs a more positive approach. She made me uncomfortable whenever she spoke to me. We have unanimously decided that this place has no friendly vibes while you're there. Their metal chairs are very uncomfortable and very low for taller people. Decided to try this little place out and it did not disappoint for brunch. Service was good and attentive and we got sat pretty quickly for a Sunday morning. Inside is very open and lots of tables, and a couple tables outside. Now on to the food....i started out with the iced French vanilla latte and it was good. I have been looking for a top notch Benedict and this one came close. The hash had great flavor and the egg cook perfectly. The only down side was the English muffin was not all that thick and got lost and the sauce was not enough. Potato fries cooked well to my liking. A single diner is not offered a table or a booth but taken directly to the service counter for a seat. Server was friendly enough but absolutely took her time bringing a check. I watched her prepare coffee drinks for ten minutes after she said she'd be bringing the check over right away. Table had wipe and water marks leaving me thinking it was still dirty. My order was brought out in parts, they forgot the chorizo on the side and the lime creama didn't make it out at all. When I requested the quesadilla with the chorizo on the side, the kitchen forgot they put eggs in the quesadilla and told me I was just going to get cheese and onions. I asked what about the eggs? The ambiance is great here. It is a modern breakfast diner. Cute decor on the walls and the wait staff is friendly and efficient. We tried the s'mores cold brew which was good, the Hershey syrup makes it a little sweeter than I wanted, but good flavor overall. I tried the Chorizo Scramble, from their fall menu. And it was delicious! Love the heat from the chorizo. The Texas farmhouse omelette was very hearty. Great flavors and heat from the jalapeño. Overall, very good food. This has always been one of my favorite breakfast places so it pains me to give this review. When I was seated, i immediately noticed a terrible odor. I picked up the menu and sniffed it. It smelled like a rancid kitchen garbage can. I gave it to a server and asked for a different table since the menu had made the table smell too. After washing my hands I came back to order. I got the avocado toast with eggs for the first time. The eggs were perfect as usual but the avocado was mid. I wouldn't order it again. I was also surprised that a cup of coffee is over $3.50! When we walked in the restaurant was so clean and bright. There was plenty of seats and the hostess(s) were very friendly and greeted and sat us quickly. The menu had so many deliciously described items it was hard to choose what to order. Every employee we encountered was happy to be at work and made the atmosphere so welcoming. Cute side note was the little library that the kids can use while they wait. My son wants to add to the collection and donate some of his gently used books now. We will definitely be back. This place is a small hole in the wall Gem. I was looking for a home style breakfast family oriented. Was greatest at the door with a smile. Ended up sitting at the bar which was a different experience for myself. While there Kristen E. my waiter greeted me as well. Gave me a few recommendations and ordered the food. While waiting was greeted by the chef and the sous chef. Other waiters also greeted and asked how day was going. The ambiance in the place was friendly. Felt like everyone knew each other and would hear laughter and everyone having a good time. I ordered the Baja Chicken Omelette, half side of grits and home style fries, and rye as bread with a bold style cup of coffee. I will be returning back to try different items on the menu. Worthy of an update on previous visits. In the past, we only stopped by on certain weekdays because of the service. Let it be known that ANY day is a great time to visit for some tasty food and excellent service. Biscuits and gravy were awesome according to my husband who has had them at several places and if he says, it's delicious, trust, it's delicious. I thought about this review for a while but still overall we were disappointed with our experience. We went on a Sunday morning (so prime time) and only waited about 20 minutes or so! Definitely be prepared that there might be a slight wait but they have a pretty big area so I would not think it would be too long. Our service was not that great. I wasn't expecting spectacular service, but our waiter seemed distracted and did not really listen to us. We ended up having to repeat our order a bit later. We also thought it was odd that our check was brought out very soon after receiving our food and we had only taken a bite or two. Not the biggest deal and they are probably just trying to make the meals as efficient as possible, but did not really see our waiter much after the check was brought out. The food was okay. I got the Chicken and Waffles and the waffles were very tasty and fluffy! However the chicken was overcooked as the breading was very very crunchy and burnt tasting. It took a lot of effort to cut it up. The sauce was tasty however, I just really wish the chicken was better cooked. My boyfriend got the S'mores Cold Brew Latte and the southwestern bowl. The s'mores cold brew was incredibly syrup heavy and sweet, and he had a hard time finishing it. He said the southwestern bowl was good. Nothing incredible but he enjoyed it. When I entered I was promptly greeted and told them I have a to go order. I picked up my food but decided to sit and eat. There's a communal table so I sat there. My husband got grits and he said they seemed like instant grits, which were fine but not his favorite. My kids loved their Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes, and the eggs are super cheesy just like they like them. It came with really big cups of milk, which they liked and helped me because the coffee was super hot. They did not have non-dairy creamer for folks who need that. We gave this restaurant a five star review about a year ago and decided to come back yesterday, Sunday, 7/14/2024. I have to say, the second visit wasn't as good as the first. We walked in and waited a solid 5-10 minutes before the hostess even acknowledged us. It was busy, but not where we should have waited that long. The hostess greeted us and we watched as she cleaned off the table with a crumpled up paper towel from underneath the hostess stand. We commented about the wait and the lady explained how they were always too busy on a Sunday and "it's the management's fault." We watched her and the attitude was apparent, she didn't want to be there. Also interesting was the lack of hustle from a majority of the staff. A lot of joking and talking near the kitchen area. Staff looking at cell phones and some were even dancing while standing around. Even with people waiting to be seated, employees were oblivious and having long conversations with each other and customers.
