Indian food is our one of the favorites. Give it a try after reading very good reviews in yelp. And...we are not disappointed at all! We really like their food! I had very bad bloating problems after eating Indian food depending which Indian restaurant I went to. So I have been trying different one to see which one that won't give me that problem. It was our 10th wedding anniversay.my wife choose persys Indian grill.it's BYOB. The food here is excellent, and not heavy for Indian (which can get a bit heavy, what with the cream sauces, etc). Pretty much everything I've tried is top notch, and there are a lot of vegetarian options. The dinner buffet is terrific, and very reasonably priced. There are always at least 6 vegetarian options, and the meat also looks very good. Their dal is about the best I've every had, and the battered boccoli is always excellent (it doesn't have that texture problem that poorly prepared broccoli can have). Even their flavored rice pulao is great - cooked with cinnamon and other aromatic spices, but on days when they have a veggie biryani rice, well, I go for that (too). If you get the dinner buffet, it comes with naan - try the chili garlic naan, but know that it's very hot most of the time. Persis delivered to the hotel where we are staying. I'm a huge Biriyani fan. The boneless chicken Biriyani is amazing. We went to have Saturday lunch buffet after hearing good reviews. The place did not score high in my view. Was neat and clean with good staff. However, had a strange smell in the food area. The word Indian grill attracted me but none of the items kept in buffet was grilled. Each very deep or mildly fried items so keep your health agenda far away. The food was just about ok - nothing was striking enough to command a great review. When we asked for breads (nan and roti specifically) we were told would serve nan's being part being of buffet and would charge for roti. Firstly, this is the first indian restaurant who said to me that they will charge for roti during buffet. Secondly, if there was a charge, they could have still served and charged for it ! There are better places for having Indian food around with lot more variety. Not worth the keeping aside of health agenda (oily). Good Luck ! read more

Amazing place! Came here on a Wednesday night & didn't know they had a buffet only option but absolutely loved it. There were so many different types of apps and entrees and all were very well cooked. Even the dessert was great. And to top it off, the total came out to only $60 for 4 people. After seeing Persis open following the closing of Ouzo we decided to give it a try this past weekend. We were happy to see that there were quite a number of tables occupied, although as one of the larger Indian restaurants I've seen there was still plenty of room We had 2 appetizers and 2 entrees and they were all delicious. They have most of the "standard" dishes you see in other Indian restaurants and some I had not seen before. Our entrees were of the former variety so I can say they compared favorably to others. The appetizers were both ones we'd never had and they were really good - I might come here sometime and only order appetizers. Service was friendly but a little spotty - it could sometimes take a bit to find a server for water, condiments, the check, etc... The prices are a bit high for this cuisine - probably owing to the large location and lack of a liquor license as a profit center. The appetizers are priced at prices similar to the entrees - I would suggest that they either reduce them a bit or make them "family sized" or perhaps offer a "sampler" that could justify the higher price but be suitable for serving several people. We'll go back but it won't move to the top of our list for Indian food. read more

Persis is a newer Indian restaurant in Monroe. Used to be a Greek Restaurant under previous ownership. The good: place looked clean and inviting. No lingering odors typical for Indian Restaurants. We were early but the place filled up quickly. Staff were warm and courteous. Even the manager stopped by to check on us a couple of times. Food was 50/50 about half the dishes we ordered were good. The others, not so much. In my opinion Chilli baby corn was the best. Paneer lababdar (house specialty,) was the worst. The Bad: Service can be improved. Possibly newer crew. Naan bread is used to scoop up the food. No point serving the curry by itself and bring out the bread 10 mins later. Reorder of the Naan took another 10-15 mins. We were told there are 6 chefs to cook diffrent cusines. However, the time it took to get food out suggests otherwise. The Ugly: When we asked to get the check. The person who brought it over said ' I will appreciate it if you can give me a cash tip!' This is so wrong, in so many ways. read more

We decided to stop in today for the lunch buffet which was very reasonably priced at about $15/person. The food was fresh and tasty especially the butter chicken. The service was courteous, prompt and accommodating. The desserts were delicious too. Not too sweet and I was pleasantly surprised to see whole pistachios and cashews in the kheer. Oh and the naan!
