Amazing selection and (usually) great cust service. I like that this is a family business and I really WANT to shop here. But I knocked two stars off because of my last two or three experiences here. So, there's this guy who works there who acts like a bully around a more junior sales person. The more senior employee claims to be helping because the other sales person "is new". Who cares?!? The newer guy was doing great and really helping me with a great, positive attitude and excellent product knowledge. This more senior employee, grunts, grumbles and points to things he should be saying and doing in the middle of my transaction. This has happened each time I've gone in this year. It's enough to keep me away. I don't want energy like that while I'm dropping a lot of money. For god's sake, its a retail store, he needs to relax. He has never once smiled or come off as anything other than cranky and punitive. He is not a natural salesperson, and may need a back of house job. He sets a very adversarial tone for a place dealing in big ticket items. I hope the owners read this and give him a talking to. read more

I found this place on Yelp because I was on a trip to NYC and my 20 year old suitcase literally fell apart at the hotel. I randomly walked by the store on my way to brunch. I stopped in without having too much time and ended up buying a Briggs & Riley bag, which I love. The owners were lovely to talk to and not pushy at all but very informative. Not wanting to drag my new bag halfway across NY, I asked if I could come back for it and they said no, because they were closing and going out of town for a wedding. They offered to drop it at my hotel. (My friend, when I met him at brunch was like, you did what? You bought a suitcase from some random place and believed them when they said they would deliver it? ). For some weird reason I knew I could absolutely trust them. Not only was my suitcase hand delivered to my hotel but they wrote a cute little note and stuck it inside. Who does that? I am returning home to NYC next week and plan to return and get a carry on to match my suitcase. I bought some Rimowa luggage from Per Tutti when I moved into the neighborhood the from the UWS about 10 years ago. I just visited their shop again to see if they had any Bric's Capri luggage in blue. Lo and behold, the exact luggage I was looking for was on display just inside the entrance. It was meant to be. I purchased two pieces of the Bric's, and was helped by the same gentleman who helped me 10 years ago; so knowledgeable and kind. He and his wife are lovely people. It's rare for local shops to last so long in this city (including surviving as a luggage shop through a pandemic). Per Tutti and the couple that run it help to make NYC feel like home to me. I have been waiting for years to find the right backpack. The one i'm using now is perfect but worn after many years of use. Okay, maybe worn is a nice way of saying "Dang girl, you STILL have that backpack?!" What can I say, I hate creating garbage and the right bag hasn't found me yet. I ordered a Briggs & Riley suitcase online. The pictures on Pertutti's website showed a light gray. The item I received was almost black. After paying for shipping in both directions, Pertutti charged me a 20% restocking fee. I had emailed them and spoken to one of their staff regarding this color difference issue, but they went ahead and charged me the restocking fee. I just spent almost $150 on absolutely nothing. Not pleased with their customer service and how they handle items advertised on their website. read more

Because of their nice site and reviews here, I was expecting a large department style store, but it's actually just a small shop ran by the owner I believe. I came for a Knirps umbrella. It was $15 cheaper on Amazon, but I needed it today since the weather said it was going to rain. Might as well support the local shops. I tried out the umbrellas and opened them in the store. The owner/worker was friendly and gave me tips on how to open and close. Left with a Knirps and happy overall. I'd go here again if I needed anything else. read more

I was on the hunt when I came across this place. I REALLY wanted to try out a Davek mini umbrella and all the major department stores had failed me. I didn't want to invest without trying it and the brand distribution center told me Pertutti had it in stock. They did, but not in the color I wanted. They started an order for a new batch of them while I stood there, including the color I wanted! I left town for a couple weeks right after that and they promised to hold it. I came back and they did! They recognized me right away and got it packaged for me. Davek offers an unconditional guarantee, but you have to mail in the broken umbrella and wait for another to be mailed to you. I don't have a door man so packages can be a nightmare and who wants to part with their umbrella for weeks in the rainy season? Pertutti offered to help out in such an event. I can go to the store with my wrecked umbrella and pay them the cost of shipping and they'll give me an umbrella to leave with and keep the replacement whenever it comes in. That's going above and beyond in service! I could not be more pleased with my experience here and will be coming back if I ever find myself in need of high quality luggage or accessories. read more

I think they have a good selection, but they drive a hard bargain on sales, and when I attempted to return something I didn't like, the two people working there were astonishingly condescending and rude. They wouldn't even let me return the thing without a crazy rigamarole and stories about how I had to come back later when the store manager was around. OMG! OMG! OMG! I love this place! I love you Jackie! I love you! I love you! This place is the very definition of how businesses or at least how customer service should be based on. Whoever heard of a honest business person?! We walked in to stand in awe of the Rimowa luggage series. She quickly came over, but not in a stalky, annoying way to offer help. It was genuine. She explained the whole series that the history of how the pricing and material is. The old lines. The new line. In discussion of sturdiness, she whipped out a plastic casing that resembles the Rimowa luggage and offered us to "beat it down". We first, hesitatingly, stood on it. When we realized that, all though it "flipped in", it flipped back out as soon as we got off w/o any signs of nicks or dings. Then she refers to each luggage size by 'check-in' size blah-blah (26, 29, 32) or 'carry-on' blah blah. Then asked what types of trips or where normally and would recommend the best size (29 by the way - internationally). Very meticulous, but yet enjoyable to learn, about the ins and out of the piece of luggage. Makes me feel confident on plunking down over $500 for a piece of luggage (not that i needed much convincing). There were many other brands carried throughout the store, but I found it funny when she was so honest about each brand and what's worth to buy. Like for instance, Samsonite. It's not a bad piece of luggage, as long as you buy it Europe or Asia. America just churns out shitty suitcases for the brand. Her comparison with Delsy to American Tourister to American Samsonite. The overrated Longchamp. It's a wonder why someone with such opinions would still carry those brands?! Well, because despite her schooling, some people still prefer to buy such brands because they are affordable to it's reputation. Bookbags, laptop bags, handbags, umbrellas, etc. Leather, ballistic nylon, cotton, etc. Great place to start building your travel gear. Pricing is actually decent. If you call them, you can pay with your credit card over the phone and they can deliver the luggage to you or you can pay at the store and they'll send it. The owners MUST behave in a more dignified manner and STOP playing computer board games (I think it was Mah-Jong or GO) during business hours, plainly in front of their customers. In the past several weeks, I already searched online for a 12" messenger bag. So today I went to the store to personally view some selections. Ronald (the African American salesperson) was thoughtful in helping me choose. I came with several textbooks, magazine, and other things I would typically put into the messenger. Through my own inspection, I narrowed the selections to two messengers. What I found to be the most helpful from Ronald was his suggestion that one of the bags could carry things that I didn't bring, such as a netbook computer. This turned out to be the tie breaker.
