One of the scariest things is for the pet to be taken in the back room and their owners not being allowed to be with them. The patient care liaison said it's because the vets can confer with each other, I know that's not true. One used to be able to go back with your family member but not here, it increases the anxiety for the pet 10 fold and is totally unnecessary, its a simple cost cutting measure for the business. My dog is diabetic and had an insulin reaction, his care was ok but the "bedside manner" for both the pets and the humans stink. The only reason they got 2 stars is because they do have a very nice patient care advocate that was helpful, but it doesn't change the structural issue of rotten logistics when it comes to the pet parents and the pets. STOP separating the pets from their families for your own cost saving, this methodology makes going to the ER twice as bad as it should be for both animals and owners! We called 3 different vets with an emergency with our dog while we were traveling. All three got up to the point of telling us to come in and asked for our name and phone number. They asked where that area code was from. Then told us "forget coming in, we aren't taking new patients." THIS WAS AN EMERGENCY NOT LOOKING FOR A NEW VET!!! Then we contacted Emergency Pet Clinic of Spokane and they said bring our dog in asap. They were caring, professional, and thorough. Our girl had a bad case of Pancreatitis and was in very bad shape. After assessment, x-rays, sonogram, meds and special foods... 5-6 hours later we had our dog back and on the mend. On Sunday, May 2nd 2021 at 3:30am we awoke to our Yorkie Annabelle gagging and unable to breath. We rushed her to Pet Emergency Clinic praying for her to be ok. Because of COVID, we were not allowed to even enter the building, and they took her, promising a phone call shortly. We live within 2 miles of the clinic, so we went home anxiously awaiting news. The receptionist called about 5 minutes after we got home asking what kind of vehicle we were in. I told her that we had went home to wait for news. She said we needed to come back and wait in the parking lot for them to call us with an estimate. We drove back, waited in our car for approximately a half hour, at which point they called and said the "estimate" would be $1200-$1800, and they would require a $1400 down payment. They couldn't tell us at this point what was even wrong with her, as they had her in a kennel with oxygen, and haven't even treated her. After the treatment money was all "secured" they would then work on saving our sweet Annie. When they got to her, she had declined rapidly. They tried to intubate her, at which point she went into cardiac arrest. They said they performed CPR to no avail. If I could give this establishment less than 1 star, I would. They are money hungry bastards that absolutely do not care about treating animals. They are out for the money, period. So this happy, loving, playful 3 year old baby lost her life because of their incompetence. I will never forgive them. She was my baby. We were supposed to have a lot of years left together, and I entrusted them to take care of her. Shame on you Pet Emergency. I will make sure I tell everybody I can how heartless you are. I can't say enough about this place! I was referred her by my sons gf and I had to Thank her. I woke up really scared after my little mini Yorkie of 15 yrs. Hadn't eaten or drank in 2 days, she was hanging like a rag doll in her blanket. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a two of their staff members with a smile and great concern. The young lady that helped me check in was the kindest sweetest person. My eyes were full of tears I only wish I had got her name. She quickly got her back to be seen. I was then greeted by the intake gal who was just as sweet, and kind, and companionate. She gave great care to try to ease my mind. Dr. Earnest loves what she does and it shows. She ran labs, and did all she could to help lei lei. With hydration injection, pain meds, and a probiotic to help. Don't trust the other review in my opinion this was a fabulous experience! After two recent failed experiences with this pet emergency clinic, and I use emergency very loosely I cannot in any way recommend them. We went in this morning with our sick dog and it was as if we were bothering them. They acted as though our dog was not sick enough to be seen, but we know our dog. Plus, who would want to pay extra to take their pet to an emergency vet if they could wait until our regular was available. So we were dismissed to leave. Our previous experience was even worse and our dogs was very sick, infection after surgery, dripping blood on the floor. They did see him, prescribed antibiotics that did not work as they sent out a sample to confirm if the antibiotic they prescribed would work and we never got the results. Our dog got worse and we took him to our regular vet to find out the antibiotics that were prescribed were not working. So in short, if you want to get quality care for your pet on an emergency basis, this is not the place to go. read more

If it was not for the horrible treatment that I received at this office I would not have received a second opinion at WSU. I was referred to this office from my vet for a mass on my dog. Before any imaging, diagnostic, labs, the surgeon told me the mass was inoperable there was nothing that could be done. He said at most a CT biopsy just to see what it was, but insinuating there was really no point. I said I would like to do the imaging and the biopsy. When he left the room to order the tests, I could hear him talking to the other employees and he stated very clearly, "yeah, that dog is going to die. She still wants to do the tests but it doesn't matter because she's still going to die.". He then proceeded to go into detail about the size and location of the mass on my dog so I know he was talking about my pet. How horrible to hear. As someone who has been in healthcare, clinical staff, I was appalled. WSU was AMAZING. Zoey is currently in recovery tonight from her "inoperable" surgery. She is doing great. I will pick her up tomorrow. Thank you for the worst bedside manner and horrible treatment because without that, we never would have gone to WSU!!!!!! read more

(MY BOY ANGELO) With tears in my eyes I write this for you. This is my experience. Two weeks ago Angelo had symptoms of a cold. Sneezing and stuffy nose. Our regular Vet said he should have a C/T scan and rhinoscopy. $4000 and 10 days later no word from anyone on results. Last night Angelo seemed to worsen and went into what I call Statue mode. He just put his head in a corner and froze there. Wouldn't move or eat. Last night we returned to Emergency, Doctor says Angelo is dehydrated and should start a steroid regiment and stay in the hospital overnight. Should respond well to meds. $1100. 8am this morning, 6 hours later, different Doctor calls saying Angelo has cancer in brain which is causing neurological disorder and its time to let him go. . We really still have no idea what what was wrong with Angelo but had to let him go this morning. Mainly just wanted to share our experience in hopes you can make better decisions with your loved one. I came here due to emergency and it was first to pop up when searching online. While I was waiting for my dog in the car I was reading over all the bad reviews....and got nervous BUT my experience was not bad and I am happy to say I would come back if I needed to. However I did have to wait a long time which is a downfall, Their online check in was smooth, I called when I arrived and I did get the call from them soon after filling out the online form. Upon arrival I understood instructions for waiting and they gave estimates of wait times and updates and everything was explained by doctor and front desk good. I felt they took great care of my dog and gave good advise too. I appreciate everything they did. My dog had deep cut from trying to dig out of her chain link kennel and needed 7 stitches and her vein stitched too. I feel the prices were fair given emergency situation...I called my regular vet and after hours exam would of been more so I would not hesitate to come back here before my regular vet after hours. read more

I rushed my dog Precious to this hospital after she became disoriented and unable to climb the stairs in my backyard. We arrived at this hospital at 4:30 PM and checked her in. They examined her after about 3 hours, taking her vitals. We waited 3 more hours for a doctor to treat her. Finally at 11:30 , after waiting for 6 hours an attendant informed us that a doctor would not be able to look at the exam information that night. We were told that we should take her to Urgent care the next day, which was a Saturday. So after waiting 6 hours they were unable to treat my dog, even though her vitals had been taken. I would never want to subject any animal to this type of treatment. I gave this business 1 star only because I could not give a lower rating. This type of treatment is Shameful, Shame on you Pet Emergency Clinic. We depended on you and you failed to provide care for Precious. read more

Took pup in there and after 300.00 ultrasound they stated she had to have a scope to remove large pieces from her stomach. 1200.00 more and nothing was found with the scope. When we took our sick pet in they were obviously way more interested in the money than the outcome. She was admitted with a life threatening condition and we were told we could call any time and they would provide regular updates. They didn't call except after we left multiple messages. We called because our cat had a uti infection from lack of moisture in his food. VERY COMMON.....They fear monger you on the phone, they scare you and are not comforting like a good or normal vet would or should do! They give you many conflicting responses and seem to not know anything. They do however say they cannot give you pricing on the phone but when i asked and pressed about certain things letting them know how much money we had the clueless girl said it could cost up to $2500 or more. Office visit plus meds and treatment was not included in this assessment. She jumped right to him having surgery and a blockage...i felt so uneasy about this place and went with my intuition and called the valley pet emergancy instead off Appleway... Lethargic and wholly unprofessional front end staff and techs. They spent their time giggling and gossiping in the midst of multiple pet emergencies, some life threatening. Simple blood draws or prescription fill will take hours. Someone should educate them as to the serious and important work that is supposed to be conducted at a pet hospital. Especially one dedicated to emergency needs. Actual vet staff seemed competent but were spread thin across multiple cases leaving the idiots to run the show. Taking into consideration the level of your emergency I highly recommend driving to the Valley or waiting for the first appointment the next day at a real Veterinarian hospital. read more

This place is horrible and customer service is horrible . My little puppy is 9 weeks old and she was very sick and actually we thought she was going to pass away . We were just heart broken and turned away without medical care for I was told I was abusive for I hurt some young persons feelings who met us at the door. We were never told anything about the rules and regulations when we called and due to security and later told due to Covid we couldn't come even into lobby . Stories kept changing and truth this place is worst place I have ever seen in my life.First we were told about the money they expected up front and that's ok for we were willing to pay to save our pups life. We were told that we couldn't come in and not even in the lobby and it was early morning dark out .My partner wanted to drop me off for he had a very important meeting for work that couldn't be missed and so I was going to have to take a taxi back and with a phone almost dead and no where to pug in and not safe to set outside. I stated that I had my Covid vaccines and a mask that I would set in lobby but that dark and early in morning it wouldn't be safe for me but the person said I'm sorry but thats not my problem and we left with a very sick puppy who was pooping water and puking bile and had very little life in he.I have been sick myself and with PTSD this little pup is my emotional support puppy and I also just lost my dog after almost twelve years and full of sadness and heart break I went into depression and sick with other issues .I called back and begged them to see my pup but I was told no for I'm a horrible person and she told me don't ever bring that pup here again and they would never see our puppy. Of course I was rude and cried and called back but that person found it easy to hurt me at my lowest point in life and I said unkind things sure for she had no compassion and no mercy . And as we were walking to the car I spoke briefly to another lady walking toward that hospital and she said its the worst place ever and she wasn't crying but furious .I was welcomed to the other pet hospital in the Valley and they were nice and so kind to us and our pup , thank you and for the one on Mission , I hope they find some compassion for what if it was their pup? THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG MEDICATION FOR MY SICK DOG. This is not a veterinary office that cares about its patients or anything other than money. I paid $3,500 to get my small dog recovered from congestive heart failure they told me it was VITAL to her stability to give her meds on time. They also told me that I shouldn't go more than an hour without giving her her medication from her scheduled doses. When I called about receiving the wrong medication they told me suddenly, it was okay for her to miss 12 hours a full dose worth of heart medication. They called me every 2 hours while she was in the hospital to ask for me to pay more and more money just for them to not care about her recovery after she was paid for. If you care about your pet I suggest finding a vets office that cares about pets welfare because this location only cares about nickel and diming pet parents and then shoving them out the door without even considering what's best for their longevity. I will be filling a complaint with the veterinary board. read more

The front desk girl had zero compassion, was extremely rude and acted like we were an inconvenience. Wouldn't allow us to speak with the doctor while our dog was in their care. Seemed very eager for payment BOTH times. Any time we asked a question we got vague answers or the run around. It was a holiday so it was our only chance for our dog to survive. I hadn't had good visits here in the past but it's significantly changed since their remodel. My Mastiff/pitbull was seen by another pet emergency and they dismissed his very serious symptoms after a one view X-ray. After a long miserable night we took him to PEC. They immediately knew he had a tumor/internal bleeding/blood clot as they did an ultra sound. I spoke to the imaging side and the tech was very thorough explaining his situation. He gave us hope to fix our poor baby and boy are we glad we did the surgery. It was expensive but I cannot explain the professionalism and courtesy both sides of the clinic gave us. He has a long road ahead but I'm glad we have more time with him. Wouldn't hesitate to take any of my animals here again. read more

I was having an emergency with my dog that required more care than my regular vet so I went to Pet Emergency. They were friendly upon check in but that is where any kind of customer service ended. I was put into a room and told it would be a while because they were quite busy. After that, I was never checked in on again. At one point, someone from the clinic walked into the room and was surprised to see me sitting in there...asked if I was being seen or was waiting for to be checked out. At that point, I had been there for over 3 hours. At 3 1/2 hours, I went to the front desk and asked if my dog had even been seen by the Doctor and they told me no after going back to check. They said it shouldn't be too much longer. At hour 4, I had had enough and told them to go get my dog because we were leaving. I couldn't believe that in 4 hours a Doctor couldn't at least do a preliminary check on my dog and give me some kind of piece of mind. I understand they get busy and might even have surgeries to do but this was the worst customer service I've ever experienced and I will NEVER take my animals back there again!!! I will be telling anyone who will listen to not go there as well. I ended up taking my dog to Animal Emergency Clinic off the Sprague exit from the freeway...we were seen within an hour with a diagnosis and sent home with piece of mind. read more

I can't say enough great things about the PEC. They helped save 2 of my dogs and treated my puppy like she was their own. They took a very stressful situation and made it as stress free as possible, called every evening to see how she was doing and if she was going to need to come back that night for overnight care always hoping for the day we would say "no, she's better now". When that day finally came 5 days later, they were truly happy for us. The doctors at PEC were the ones who said my baby had Leptospirosis and treated her for it (My first vet kept saying it wasn't Lepto)... They saved her life, put her on the right medications and she got better. read more

This place is literally awful. They kept my dog for 7 hours just to run quick tests and didn't even address what I brought her in for. The staff out front is rude. The vet discharged my dog and they forgot to bring her out to me for an hour. Over $1000 dollars for tests and no treatment. The only reason this gets two stars is because Dr. Sarah Fick was very kind and knowledgeable. An emergency came in while I was there that needed to be euthanized and they kept the family member out at the desk to discuss payment and told them "don't worry. We won't charge for the oxygen".
