Pet Grooming Salon review: My pup had been going to Petsmart LB Towne Center since he was 6 months old -he is now almost 2! All his groomers in the last visits were wonderful no matter who the groomer was - whether for a BATH and BRUSH or for a BATH and FULL haircut with all the other services such as the nail trimmings, teeth brushing, etc. This salon takes care of the pets. We trust the staff knowing that our pup is in good hands every time. They suggest what needs to be done based on what is best for our pup, may it be the type of shampoo his fur, or the length of the cut, etc. We like seeing the friendly pet groomers and employees there everytime, like Lauren, Tanya, Jenny, Milo and the rest of the team! PetSmart After taking our dog there for about two years, we have decided to stop going due to a loss of trust in how they handle our pet. They mistakenly placed their red leash around his neck instead of his chest, as they usually do. When my dog saw us through the window, he naturally pulled, and because the leash was just a loop, it caused him to have trouble breathing and start wheezing. To make matters worse, when I pointed it out, the employee claimed it must have been his collar, showing a lack of accountability, and then stated that it was not their intention to hurt our dog. I then asked the other employee for the name of the person who put the leash around my dog's neck so I could file a formal complaint, she informed me that it is company policy not to provide employee names. The overall experience was quite unpleasant, and it was disappointing to see them try to make excuses instead of owning up to the mistake. read more

Ordered online and was ready for pick up in less than 2 hrs. I arrived about 10 mins before closing and found close parking near the entrance. I didn't see anyone at the register but there was a young lady who ended up assisting a customer. About 2 mins later another associate approached me asking for f I had been helped yet. She was able to assist me with no problems. I received nothing but good customer service and a great deal on the items I purchased. read more

Stopped by PetSmart this evening to pick up some dog food and visited the groomer to see if I could schedule a pedicure for our puppy, Coco. I talked to Lauren, Salon Lead who was extremely helpful. She ended up seeing Coco (as walk in) Lauren was patient with our squirmy puppy who quickly calm down and allowed Lauren to file down her nails. The entire process took about 10mins. We will definitely be back. THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'd also like to add the cashier and store manager who helped checking out were also extremely friendly. I do love the doggie day camp and salon but never get the treat or the digital picture when I pay extra in the package...

Boarded our puppy here when we had to go out of state. I would call daily to check in and they were very kind. Said to call as often as I needed. The daily pictures of her were the highlight of our day. She was very shy but they worked with her. When we picked her up she was so happy with them that it took her a minute to notice us. I have a Siberian Husky and of course she sheds crazy during the summer. Milo and the staff dealt my dogs barking and wolf like howling great, and recommended some grooming scheduling options to keep my dog's shedding under control as well. First day of doggy day camp for my girl, Chloe. She's completed the basic commands class at PetSmart and passed successfully. I decided to have her do a trial run of the day camp since I wanted to start using their doggie hotel. EASY CHECK-IN. I completed the liability release and contract form on the spot. PetSmart had already gotten her vaccination records on file for her doggie hotel stay the day before. The form is basically 2 areas to initial, contact info, emergency contacts and all the standard fine print of legalise. DOGGIE DAY CAMP is not doggy day care. I found that out over the phone. When you call PetSmart to schedule for day camp, the call operator is not on site at the LB Towne Center location. The doggy day care is when your dog stays in an atrium whereas the day care allows for intermingling and socializing. DOGGY WINDOW for the pooches are to the right if the entrance to the pet hotel check-in. I took photos from the outside looking in. My dog was nervous and a bit emo, but appeared to adjust well after about 20 minutes. A worker was in the play area with the little dogs and played ball with them. I'll be picking up my girl in about an hour, so hopefully no issues. read more

Since I never heard back from the useless team member Mellisa who emailed me acting concerned about my complaint a couple weeks back, I will complain again on here instead. I took my cat Toner here to be groomed in March. First, Patty called me a couple days before to change our appointment time to one hour earlier because it fit her schedule better. Rude to put yourself before your clients, but okay. Whatever. So I took him in earlier than planned, and when we arrived, she asked me if he'd been groomed before. Dozens of times, yes! So she opened the cage and pet him, and he softly hissed at her because DUH, he's in a new place with new smells and barking dogs and YOU ARE A STRANGER reaching into his cage! She immediately told me she couldn't proceed with grooming him because he hissed at her, per company policy. Mind you, it wasn't even a loud or threatening hiss - it was a soft little hiss with no swatting or growling or any other signs of aggression. This is the sweetest cat I've ever had, he is NEVER aggressive. But Patty refused to groom him because he hissed at her, which is a normal cat behavior when they're under stress and should be PART OF HER JOB as a groomer. I looked up the company policy and found out that that is, in fact, NOT their policy. The policy states if the animal is being "truly uncooperative," then they cannot move forward. I truly believe that our appointment inconvenienced Patty, so she used this as an excuse to cancel on us. What a damn waste of my time and great way to stress my cat out for NO REASON! Then Patty said that I need to drug my cat with Gabapentin in order for her to groom him. I am not doing that to my 11-yo good-natured cat. Our regular groomer never has a problem with him! I find it absolutely ridiculous that a pet groomer can't handle a little hissing from an otherwise calm cat. Perhaps Patty should not be working with animals if she can't handle that. Also, I looked up company policy, and it states if a pet is brought in sedated or drugged, they cannot move forward with grooming. Then she told me to take him to a different Petsmart. Why would I waste my time doing that if your fake "company policy" would prohibit him from being groomed? My husband and I were furious about this, so I emailed corporate and received a phone call after I specifically requested no phone communication, only email, due to my schedule. Manager Mellisa sent me an email acting concerned and wanting to follow up, so I answered her. Never got a reply back. Another useless Petsmart employee who can't do her job either! I truly hope this store goes out of business after my experience and reading others' too. read more

I normally don't write reviews, but after two really frustrating experiences at Petsmart grooming, I think it's worth sharing. Most recently, I had a 6:00 PM appointment. I was running a little behind and got there around 6:20. As soon as I arrived, they told me they couldn't take my dog because they "needed 3.5 hours" and they close at 9. That just didn't make any sense--why take the appointment in the first place if you knew it couldn't be done? It really felt like they just didn't want to work that late and were looking for an excuse. What made it worse is that no one called to let me know there was a time cutoff or that they were planning to cancel. A quick heads-up would've been easy and respectful, but instead, I drove over for nothing. This was actually the second time they've refused to groom my dog. The first time, they accepted her, then called me later and told me to come pick her up because they didn't want to groom her. Again, no clear reason. Honestly, the lack of communication and bad customer service at this location is just exhausting. I gave them another chance and got the same careless treatment. There are way better groomers out there who actually want to work with your pet and value your time. I won't be going back. read more

My dog had a great time boarding here for 2 nights while my husband and I went out of town for Halloween weekend. We added the Spooky Special package, which included an adorable nightmare before Christmas themed bandana, a bewitching bat cookie, a coupon book, and a digital photo of our boy in front of a haunted house. The petshotel staff, especially Melissa, went above and beyond to provide an excellent experience. Wheaties is looking forward to more daycare and boarding. read more

I called on Saturday to check up on him per the staff they said he's doing fine, playing and little needy. Eating well. My daughter picked him up at 12:00 noon on Sunday and notice he was panting badly and his tongue was blueish/gray. We rushed him to emergency department and was told he was severely dehydrated, and upon his physical assessment the Vet noticed a punture wound on his upper arm. Left a review about the grooming spa that they got deleted ! So I'll write it again. Do not bring your dogs here. Aside from people dogs coming back hurt or with kennel cough the groomer hurt my dog. Appointment was supposed to be 4 hours but I got a call not even an hour in that she had to stop the appointment because my dog was gushing blood. I don't understand how my dog could be gushing blood from a simple bath, because she hadn't even started the hair cut. Had to pay more than I expected when I picked him up for a half service. When I bought him in the next week he came out with an infected boil, something he had never had before, so I had to take him to the vet. I always wash my dog, but he needed his nails trimmed and a hair cut, not once has he started gushing blood from me washing him. These people will smile in your face while actively ignoring the well being of your animals, and it's very unprofessional to have reviews deleted when they don't paint your incompetent "groomers" in a good light. This was a great Petsmart location. I usually go on Unleashed (by Petco) on Spring St but this was the only location open after 6pm. I purchased wet dog food topper mixes since my pup is having trouble eating all sorts of kibble we've been trying. Their tag machine is currently broken. What I want to highlight are the hamsters, guinea pigs, & reptiles. They had the cutest little hamsters snoozing or running happily on their wheel. We found great delight in watching all sorts of animals that were available here, one being a tarantula...! This place needs to be shut down. My elderly dog has kennel cough and an eye infection from the pet hotel. He also reeked of pee when I picked him up. His back legs are rotating the opposite way of his front legs. Probs from being kept in a cage the whole time. If you love your dog don't let them stay at the pet hotel. They couldn't even be straight up with me when I asked him if he was ok, I literally called every other day to check in. Also he was listed to not be with other dogs so for him to get kennel cough means they aren't cleaning the cages. They could have warned me he was super sick but instead they said he was fine. I took pics of him before and after the stay. He isn't doing well after this visit at all. Zero stars. Shut this place down. read more

To make matters worse, I could tell, my beloved pet was traumatized. Today, was the 3rd scheduled visit on the promotional deal. AND IT WAS A REPEAT DISASTER OF THE PREVIOUS! It is obvious to me, now, policies change to `suit' increased fees without regards to original promotions. The Pet Hotel was awesome! I'm sure my dog missed me and our home, but she was well cared for, they even have a play time every day included in the stay! I knew she was safe, and that was the most important thing! This is the funniest part ... had some friends pick her up for me because my flight didn't get in till late and I didn't want her to spend another night there. They picked her up, no problem... but when they got outside the store she escaped, her collar was loose and she pulled out of it. (They told me this a few days later.) They chased her around a bit in the parking lot, then she headed back to the PetSmart, she ran into the store as someone was going in and ran strait to the treats isle where they were able to pick her up! So funny! She does love her treats! She did get home safe and sound! :) read more

Just left this location 20 minutes ago to exchange a dog harness that my daughter bought yest at the Tustin location in the wrong size,all I need was a even. Exchange in size xsml to small.Luckily they had it in stock.Once we got to the register to exchange we had to pay a 80 cents exchange difference since it was from a diff.store even though they were the same price and the employee even said it was the same price.Won't be coming back.I have never been to a store the charges a exchange fee. read more

I love this location and everyone in it! I've been bringing my dog Winston here since he was about 5 months old. We took beginner, intermediate and advance training classes with Pat. He's amazing, very patient, and great with the dogs... and us pet parents. The sales associates and cashiers are always so friendly and helpful. I started taking Winston to Doggie Daycare because he has bad separation anxiety when I'd leave for work... but he wasn't neutered so he couldn't play with the other dogs. The associates always made sure he was looked after. I didn't plan on it, but eventually took him to Dr. Morris at the PetSmart clinic to be neutered. From Dr. Morris and the assistants to the receptionists, they were all great with Winston, and great at calming my nerves. I take him to Doggie Day Camp now so he can play with the other dogs. The associates always seem to enjoy him and are always so good with him. And don't let me forget about the groomers. Monica and Daniela are great with Winston! He's scared of the dryers and nail grinder, but they are kind, take their time and get it done. I've taken him to the Seal Beach and Huntington Beach PetSmarts for grooming before and they were terrible. They were rude and refused to brush his teeth, do the nail grind, etc. so never again will I go there. I get that he's anxious with certain things but they were just mean about it, gave me dirty looks and all that. That's ok though, I will stick to the LB location, where they actually care and are just all around awesome! 5 stars for everyone here! read more

*DO NOT RISK IT!* Extremely disappointed with the Long Beach Pet Hotel. I checked in daily and was told he was happy and eating. He did not eat. He lost quite a bit of weight in the four days he stayed there. I highly doubt enough water was provided. My bulldog came home and seemed dehydrated and drank for days. My happy healthy bulldog was returned sick, lethargic, and with no appetite. He smelled as is if he sat for four days in his own excrement. I paid extra to have his folds cleaned daily --they absolutely we're not. To say my bulldog came home sick and traumatized is an understatement. I would not recommend this service and have serious reservations about using any of their services. I thought may be the other reviews of this service were harsh, sadly, I am discovering they were not harsh enough. I'm finding if you had a positive experience count yourself lucky. read more

The good: They had a really cool-looking dinosaur shaped hamster home. It was huge and awesome. I'd want to explore that dino if I were a hamster. They also had a black cat costume for dogs. I always buy food/snacks that are on sale for my cats. I liked that they had a lot of sale items to choose from. The store was clean and well organized. I use my phone number to collect reward points. I didn't realize that the reward points actually give you discounts over time. I got over $2 discounted from my total today because of points I collected. The bad: I wish the black cat costume came in a smaller size so I could get my white/black cat dressed up as her sister (a black cat) for Halloween. They don't have a separate shelf/section for clearance item. The interesting: They had adoptable cats here. They have grooming services as well. The cashier told me to say hi to my pets for me. The Doggy Day Camp and Pet Hotel staff are the best, Pat Wilson the trainer is knowledgeable and great to work with. My dogs love them. I had a negative experience with Patty in grooming and ever since, I have taken my dogs elsewhere for their grooming needs. It's too bad because Milo is great with big dogs and Lucy is great with small dogs. read more

Somehow this pet hotel was able to trim my nervous German Shepherd's nails. I've had two vet clinics and one supposedly experienced groomer fail. I even bought my Reyna a muzzle but she doesn't bite, she just manages to get out of any and all restraints. But this petsmart had the magic touch. Hotel-this review is for boarding! DOGS CAME HOME SICK!! We dropped off our dogs because they weren't going to be allowed where we were going:(. I called and was told "the staff said your dogs are very vocal, back whenever we walk by". When we returned I showed up before scheduled pick up to see how our babies were cared for. One was so knotted it took me several sessions with scissors and brushing. The pups smelled so bad, I can't even believe what they looked like. Next the dogs were sneezing & coughing! Our dogs have never been sick, I can't believe it! Not in their entire lives!! The dogs bed was full of poop! They said "sorry we didn't get a chance to wash the bedding"! Why didn't they clean the poop off the bedding, why would you leave several piles on their bedding? These are totally housebroken dogs!!! They go all night without needing to go to the bathroom! You wouldn't believe the conditions of our babies! How can they allow them to be in so much filth!! Please find another place for your furry family! I have been boarding my dogs with petsmart for over a year. Although most experiences have been positive this last one my dog contracted kennel cough. I spoke to a gentleman over the phone, who did not ask my name, or offer to grab a supervisor. I now have two sick dogs two large vet bills and I just felt like no one cared to much about the experience when I had called. It is just unfortunate since we do use petsmart for our boarding needs. One dog does the group play and the other does not, I hope they told all the other pawrents about the outbreak from last week. read more

We usually don't have anything bad to say about this pet hotel but our last time was very concerning. We have two Shih Tzus that are always together so we specifically told them not to separate them but they did. They were there for 5 days. They put my girl dog in the back with other loud dogs barking so she was alone and traumatized. They didn't pay attention to them because when we picked her up, she was covered in pee and throw up and was not herself. Her leg was also messed up from her licking it and came back with ulcers in her mouth which made it painful to eat.They also gave us the wrong blanket back which shows that they didn't pay attention. Their excuse was that they have new workers but that's not an excuse. Never again. read more

Came in for a walk-in to trim my puppy's nails at 10am. Right at the start, one of the ladies had an attitude stating they recommended an appointment. Then she mentioned she would page overhead in 10-15 minutes. When we went back to the salon after 25 minutes, another staff said the lady had paged for 5-10 minutes and thought we had left. We were inside the store waiting, and my husband was even outside their glass door where they could see him. Another lady said to schedule an appointment. I said, walk ins were available online. Another lady responded, "WHEN available" as if they did not want to simply trim my 3 month old puppy's nails. Very rude. I wouldn't come back to these groomers. I'd still visit the store, but not the groomers. read more
