My dog just got a haircut here and they were nice to take him in that same day. I'm giving them a four star because the hair cut was shorter then what I showed them in the picture. Also his nails were cut pretty short and I was not happy with that. The staff is really friendly and I also like that they are open on Mondays since that's my only day off. I took my dog - great dane mix - in for a "doggie spa treatment," and she came out looking great. She was not in a frenzy to get out of there - which I noticed and appreciated. She is kind of a nervous dog...she smelled and looked fantastic, and I could tell that the gals working there really are dog lovers and enjoyed having her in for a visit. I took my golden retriever here, and although her coat was kind of a mess and they did a good job bathing and brushing her, they only cut the hair on her back (not under her belly, trim up her hind area, clean up her neck and face area, or trim her paws). Also when she returned she had a cut on her nose, and they never mentioned anything about it. She is very very calm and submissive and definitely been groomed before, but even so, they never mentioned it and sent her home barely touched with trimmers. after reading other reviews, I realize this has happened to other people!! I'm definitely a "FAN". The Pet Station has done a terrific job on my 2 dogs except for only once with one of my dogs. That was more a problem with a specific groomer. Lori and Elaina are top notch and as good as they get. Customer service is great, professional and they are always happy to see you walk in the door. Great place, friendly and I hope Newcastle can support this asset to our little city. read more

I wanted to support a new local business, so we decided to take our dog here for grooming. I got an appointment right away, and brought my maltese in. I noticed the next day when I was petting her tummy, she had BAD cuts from the clippers in 2 different spots. I called the store to let them know that my dog has been cut, and I was coming in to the store to discuss what happened. Instead of apologizing, the couple/owners tried to tell me that the cut has been there before. She also tried to tell me after feeling her chest area, that she may have tumors, and that's the reason why my dog may have cuts. What a joke! I wish they would have apologized for their mistake, but I walked out of there feeling angry and disappointed. read more

One of the worst experiences that I have ever had! I took my two shih tzu mixes in several times, they were never cut how we asked but always smelled good and looked decent. I stopped taking my male dog, moose, here after he got very nervous when he would have to go near the place. I continued to take my female dog, muffy, here until last week. That will be our final visit. We took her in and gave them instructions on how we wanted her groomed. 3 hours later we got a call saying it was time to pick her up. We showed up and paid the $65 before we saw our dog. The haircut was AWFUL, she still stunk, and her nails were not cut properly. It looked like someone was drunk and took a weedwacker to her. Some spots hadn't been cut at all and others were extremely short. I really dont know how someone can do that to a dog. We tried to get a refund but we were told the manger was on vacation and to call monday to speak with her. We agreed and left very unhappy. We came in to speak with the manager only to be told we could not get a refund because "they dont do that". They offered to clean up our dog but we don't want them taking her back, she was VERY nervous and didnt want to be near them. I can only assume they are mean to the dogs there. I will never take my dog anywhere else. This is locally pleasing to me, but the service is outstanding! Erica, the groomer, was a huge help, and I feel so lucky I found her. Pet Station is the place to take your pet for a great experience and hair cut! Dogs are not always stuffed in cages and alot of time if they are friendly they get to run around! Also the new groomer Casey is great with dogs! She has excellent skills and will do her best to make your pet look awesome! Try it out for sure! read more

Last summer we took our 9 year old golden retriever to them for a summer "trim." My dog, though, 9 years old, is still very excitable, especially when he sees us come to retrieve him. I made a comment to the groomer about how he is still immature, and the young man sarcastically remarked how my dog would learn to settle down once he got "hip dysplasia." I didn't find the remark amusing in the least, but said nothing. Nor did I say anything about the summer "buzz" cut my dog received. With the exception of his tail, he was shaved which is not what I had asked for. I regret not writing this review then. Other than telling my friends in the area to avoid this place, I remained silent. Even if you've had a good experience there--and we had--this should at least give you something to consider. read more

Very disappointed. I own a giant breed with a long, thick coat and this was obviously too much for the staff at Pet Station to handle. I was charged much more than originally quoted, his feet & feathers were improperly trimmed and he was not even close to dry when I picked him up. My dog has seen a groomer every month for almost two years and no one has ever had difficulty with a basic bath, brush out & trim. Next time we will wait for our normal groomer to have availability. On the plus side, the establishment was very clean & the front desk attendant was sweet, but we will not be returning. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It seemed so nice compared to the local Petco or other local options. The front staff were very nice but I also agree the groomer was very gruff. I brought my very furry Havanese in for a 1" all over clip. But when I picked her up, she was scraped bare in several places, bleeding in a couple spots AND her nails had been clipped so short she was still bleeding there, too. I will never, ever bring my dog back there. read more

My dogs get groomed by Casey at the Pet Station and I wouldn't want anyone else grooming them. She is patient, kind and helpful and the Boys just love her. They get to play in the playroom (since they are friendly guys) when not getting groomed. Give this place another chance. Casey is new as of this fall and it's worth checking her out. ALMOST LOST MY DOG TODAY AT PET STATION NEWCASTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband went to pick up our puppy from Newcastle Pet Station after a grooming. He opened the front door, and out the dog ran into the street! With NO collar on. He asked where the collar was, they said they didn't have it. We then called, and yes, the collar was on the front counter. I went in to retrieve it and voice my concern about letting our puppy escape. They refused to take responsibility, saying they let the dogs roam free in the lobby all the time, and it's never been a problem. They actually blamed our dog (yes, I told them she's a puppy of 5 months, and be careful with her), saying that they had her up on the counter, and when my husband opened the front door, she lept off the counter to him. Yes, it must have been the dog's fault. I tried to ask them why they didn't keep her in the back gated area, and their answer was that my puppy was shy around the other dogs. I wanted to explain that I'd rather have her shy in the back room than out in the streets! read more

I have given Pet Station a chance to do things right at least 5 times.. The first girl they had Elena was great, she did a good job...it has been downhill since then...they don't seem to be able to hang on the groomers for very long.. After Elena the next person cut my dogs faces lopsided....I kept telling them when I took them in that this was happening and to be sure that they did it right.... This last time they had another new groomer and I informed him that the dogs always came home with lopsided facial trims... When I picked the dogs up I didn't notice right away that there was a problem but later I kept looking at my maltese thinking she looked lopsided, I wasn't sure if she was holding her head right or what....turned out one ear was an inch longer than the other....it is like they purposely do this.........how could they not see that... I went ahead and trimmed her ears till they matched... I have given Pet Station more chances than most people would as it is a very convenient location and I was willing to give them a chance seeing that they were a new business. I will not be taking the two dogs in to them again. And now that I have read about some of the dogs being cut, I definitely will not go there. My daughter was taking her dog there also, but won't go back either. What a shame that a new business is giving such bad service to our community, they could have a really good thing if they had tried harder. Mary H read more

We have been taking our dogs here for the past three years and we were regulars, dogs were groomed every 6-8 weeks. Initially Pet Station was very good with the dogs and the services that they provided. In the past year things have really deteriorated when they began to have a high turnover rate for the groomers. Some of the more experienced groomers suddenly left and the newer groomers did not do as good of a job. The cuts were a bit choppy and twice my dogs were cut during their grooming. The staff seems to be more concerned with the volume of service to sustain their business. The young front end staff seem to put customer service on the back burner. For example, after one grooming session, we paid our bill and at the same time scheduled the next visit for 6 weeks out, and even got the appointment card. The day of the next appointment we took the dogs in and the counter girl, said they didn't have our appointment in their books so they couldn't groom the dogs. We showed them the appointment card, but they just said they couldn't do it that day. No apology, or discount for their mess up. More recently, we have been having trouble even getting an appointment. They told us we needed to book at least two weeks out. Great we can do that, can we set an appointment for two weeks out? No, we are booked that day! WTF! This place has really gone down hill. I would not recommend Pet Station for your dogs grooming. We have found another groomer nearby who provides EXCELLENT service and at a much better price. read more

I have been taking my Ragdoll cat here for two years. He went to Brian originally and always had a great experience! The haircut was excellent and Brian treated him like his own. Unfortunately, since Brian left, this place has gone completely downhill. Today was my very last time at Pet Station. I dropped my kitty off for his normal 3 month haircut. The last time I had him in I wasn't happy with the haircut so I told them about it this morning and explained exactly what I wanted done this time (which is exactly what I've had done every time with Brian). The receptionist, who I'd never seen before, said OK and took him back. Now when I used to drop him off, Brian would always come out and greet me and I could talk directly to him about the service. The last couple times, I never even SAW the groomer. So, this morning, I went next door to get some groceries while I waited and had a call from them 10 minutes later. Again, not the groomer, but the receptionist said they couldn't do anything expect shave him because the groomer wasn't comfortable with just brushing out the mats and the only way to do it would be to completely shave him. I said no, absolutely not. I went back and still never saw the groomer. Horrible customer service. Horrible service, period. They said they could talk to another groomer about doing him another time. Another groomer? So this one isn't experienced enough to just do a haircut on a cat? They are in the grooming business yet employ someone who is not experienced? The whole experience was terrible this morning and I can't say enough how this place has changed. Now I have to find another groomer. Do not go here!! read more
