The store associates are always helpful and attentive, this is a review only for the grooming side. I have 3 dogs and by far this grooming location provides the worst care for them. They have missed cleaning obvious dirt on my dogs face/neck areas even if I ask them before the grooming. They always forget to do nail trims again even if I ask. I ask for a hygiene clip for one and am assured he will get it, 5 hours later, he still looks dirty and no nail trim OR even the clip done. While making appointments they seem to do it in a hurry and barely take your information and they hang up. I was told I had an appointment at 11 30 and when I arrived, I was told it was at 11... even after I planned my day accordingly just for the 1130 spot, I was rudely told my dogs will not be seen and that one of the groomers had to leave in 1 hour.... Anyways overall I've had a horrible experience I've picked up my dog after 2 hours just to be told, he was too aggressive to even get out of the cage, when he has been getting groomed since a puppy with no problem. These people seem to be too "busy" to even care to do their job right! read more

Personally I always have a good experience! Nikki is awesome! All the staff has been very polite and great with my dogs. I also know that working with dogs, having to get bit, and clean butts sucks that's why I tip good. I'm sure corporate America doesn't pay fair wages there. So unless you want to do it yourself stop crying about everything, just politely talk to a groomer if there is an issue. A lot of petcos have been short staffed but there's a reason I pay to do things I don't want to. Keep up the great work groomers!!! read more

They didn't have anybody who knew Jack shit about fish. We were looking to spend some decent money on a small tank and some fish and accessories etc but nobody knew enough to help us out. We didn't buy a net there so we got one from meijer. Great experience buying fish with nobody to help us. Helped somebody else buy a betta and we probably knew more than any store associate there. read more

If I could give a negative rating I would. DO NOT GO HERE for grooming. We had an appointment and were told from the woman around "2:30 ish" We showed up at 2:36 and were rudely greeted by the woman standing at the counter talking to her friend. She then told us 'we were late' and 'she was behind so I won't be getting to your dog today'. We then reiterated we were told 2:30 ish and that this shouldn't even be an issue, to which she replied "well yeaa...no...". Word of mouth is everything. And you never know who you are servicing. You should remember that. and if you're going to be lazy and don't want to do your job- find another. read more

If you need help with fish, you need to go to this location and ask for Subhan! This young man is so helpful and kind. First time aquarium owners here. Subhan helped us with our first fish, from food to proper water maintenance and answered a million questions with a smile. When the fish did not make it, he helped with trouble shooting and suggestions for making our tank better for our next fish. We will definitely be going back as we grow our fish family. read more

The Petco Groomers are AMAZING. I have taken my dog there ever since I adopted him in January. He is a poodle mix and needs grooming every 6-8 weeks and they are wonderful. Adrian always looks forward to being groomed from Vicki. Even if he needs to be washed in between grooms, they always succeed in making him the most pampered dog in the world. Took my Yorkie to get groomed, I explained to the groomer what I wanted done. When I arrived to pick up my dog she had no hair. Wow what part of only a trim ?? Didn't they understand. They have trainees learning with your dog, on top of that they change you extra for a trainee to practice on your dog. By the time is all said and done your paying almost $90.00 for a cut and bath WILL never go back there again read more

I have a special needs son that my mother brought in to this store to do some shopping. He tend to play with things with his hands as a nervous habit, we think due to Autism. During checkout, my son was poking at the tablecloth (mind you, this table cloth had PLENTY of holes in it that were not from my son) Well, instead of the cashier asking my mother to make him stop, the cashier proceeded to yell at my son to stop doing it..she totally humiliated him. My son has SPECIAL NEEDS... really lady? Your going to yell at him? Thank God I wasn't there. I will never step foot in this store again. I have plenty of animals and this store got good business from us. Ill be taking my business to Petsmart from now on because they don't yell at innocent children who are trying their hardest in counseling to stop their negative behaviors. I am so upset right now. We have many reptiles at home and are frequently at petco. We moved here two months ago and started using this store. A few weeks ago we discovered leeches on my turtles and the only thing that's gone in there tank is pellets and live crickets. Figured the crickets must have a parasite bc we also noticed it in our lizards terrarium. Did a deep clean and sanitize of both tanks.... Last week we got a bag of comets for feeder fish and now all my fish have ICK!!!!## and my turtles are also in there.... I would not recommend getting anything that is living from this store. Upon arriving for our first grooming visit for our dog, the stylist was sitting outside on the phone smoking a cigarette. She then informed us she'd have to go short because our dog was matted which we agreed upon. When we came back to pick her up she was outside again on the phone smoking. She handed us our dog and she herself smelled like smoke. We thought okay maybe a bad day let's bring her back we scheduled an appointment a month in advanced. The Friday before her Monday appointment we got a call and was asked to bring her in 45 minutes earlier than the appointment time. We agreed! The Sunday before we got yet another call asking to bring her in 45 minutes earlier than the new appointment time. When we said we already are having trouble getting here there for her second appointment time because of work we were told "we had a scheduling issue you can still bring her at her normal time but ILL HAVE TO RUSH HER!" It was at this time we canceled the appointment and now bring her to PetSmart where they are so much cleaner, nicer and give her a better cut! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worse enemy! read more

I LOVE Petco in Bloomingdale Illinois. My dog goes to the groomer there and she comes out beautiful. She also LOVES Amanda who is her personal groomer. Horrible experience. Went to get my dogs nails clipped and they were very unprofessional. They all seem to not be trained in handling dogs. My dog is big and he was very scared, but they did nothing to make him comfortable as he was shaking and freaking out. Instead they did two paws and said they could not finish because he was freaking out too bad. Took the dog home and he was bleeding all over the floor due to the fact they cut his actual paw (not nail) very deep. Ended up still having to pay for the poor service. I will be sure to never ever take my dog here, and to make sure I tell every other person with a dog about my horrible experience. read more

Brought my dog in today to be groomed. She's a Shih Tzu/Bichon mix so, of course she had long hair. With long hair comes mats. None on her body though, just some around her legs. When we brought our dog there for the appointment, the groomer did not do the 7-point check in. The groomer did not even realize the severity of the mats on her legs because 3 1/2 hours later she called us saying that after bathing and drying she realized she may need to shave her legs. We went back to Petco after we received the call only to see that the only thing she accomplished in the 3 1/2 hours was a bath. She was still even damp. The groomer then told us that she probably couldn't de-mat her legs and that she would shave them (and part of the tail). Although, when we arrived another hour later, our dog was a complete mess. Her coat was uneven and her legs jaggedly shaved. The tip of her tail was unnecessarily cut. What hurt me the most was that her long beautiful eyelashes were also cut. SHE CUT OFF HER EYELASHES. When we asked her about the eyelashes she responded "Oh I'm sorry I didn't notice the long eyelashes." After 5 hours of torture for our baby at the grooming salon, we would expect it to at least look decent. It wasn't even close to decent. All in all, this was the WORST grooming experience ever. Never coming back here again. read more

I brought my puppy in for a puppy socialization class, which I normally love every other week... today however the puppy trainer was not there.. I waited in the area with other families and their puppies for 10 minutes before an employee told us the trainer had went home sick.. understandable but still was a little let down. all the other families seemed upset too since all the puppies were all already excited interacting with one another. the employee said we could all stay still without the trainer and let the puppies play. I was a little worried for many reasons but went against my better judgement and allowed my dog to play. everything was fine until a few dogs began getting really rough with my dog.. just puppy play i, as well as all the other owners expected. once I decided to pull my dog from the rest of the group when it was getting too rowdy another person in the store noticed my dog was bleeding from her face.. where many of the dogs were biting.. no owners were around at this point for me to talk to. so I called petco and they told me it was 100% up to me to get worked out with the owner.. and he also informed me that the class was canceled, but "we all to stayed anyways" which was untrue because the employee told us to stay.. if they had told me the class was canceled I would have gladly left... I understand I was partly at blame for allowing my dog to stay.. but there was no reason for them to allow us to stay knowing we have a bunch of off lease puppies playing without any sort of supervision besides the supervision of owners.. pretty disappointed with the response I received from who I believe to be the manager of the store. I loved petco but I will never return, for puppy socialization or anything ever again read more

Unprofessional, and rude staff . I wanted to purchase a parakeet . 3 employees walked by me within 20 min . Nobody asked if I could be assisted with help or any questions . Finally I went up front and asked . A young girl came . I asked her to take the parakeet out so I could see it and play with it assuming its wings were clipped . She said she can't and grabbed a net and opened the cage and started grabbing the bird in the net . Another coworker came and was talking with her about what time she will be getting off work and when they are going to hang out and go he's tired . This is as I'm standing there looking at the birds . Very unprofessional . Finally she catches the bird in the net and tells me to look at it through the net . What ??! I'm like sorry but I can't have the bird trapped in a net and have you throw it in a cage and have me purchase . I should be able to meet the bird on my hand to see if it's the bird for me . She shrugged her shoulders and let the bird free in its cage and said sorry this is how we do things here . I laughed at her and walked out. Complete nonsense. If I could leave half a star I would. I don't have a problem with this store. I come here to get my guinea pig food all the time. This review is for the "manager" of the PACT adoption center in this location. She is the RUDEST person I have ever had to deal with. I adopted a cat which I unfortunately had to give back due to our landlord. I have wanted a cat for quite some time now, so giving this cat up was very hard for me. Karen whom is the so called manager of the adoption center is the most unpleasant person. I explained the situation to her over the phone before I brought the cat back just to see what the process was and what I had to do. She was rude to me on the phone about everything and when I went in to bring the cat back she was rude. I had used a credit card to purchase the cat and I wanted a copy of my receipt showing the money I'd get back. She explained they use the square there for their credit cards and they cant print a receipt but she made a copy of the hand written one. Which I understood, no problem there. As I leave the store she had the NERVE to make a nasty comment to me about returning the cat. First of all I understand they don't like when people return animals, I hated doing it. I get it, It was my fault for purchasing the cat before speaking to my landlord. I was torn by it but that does not make it ok to make your customers feel uncomfortable as I already was! My heart was broken that I had to do this. I'm sure she could tell I was crying about it! She didn't ask how the cat was at my house, if he had eaten, if he was doing ok..nothing. She did not really speak to me while I was returning the cat because she was on her cellphone the entire time I was there. Her conversation was clearly more important then her job at that time. I don't understand how you can have a job like the one she does and be as bitter as she was. I would recommend anyone to go to this Petco, but I would never recommend anyone adot a cat or dog from them. If you do, avoid Karen at all costs. She even had a nasty attitude when I went in to just LOOK at the cats! read more

Due to no appointments being available at the vet's office for grooming, my family decided to try Petco's grooming again considering we had tried it several times before with no problems. We called earlier this week to make an appointment with them. Upon arriving, I waited for 5 minutes before someone came to assist me. Once they came to the desk, I stated that I had an appointment scheduled that day for 9:00. The worker said my appointment wasn't in their book at all. While this was taking place, I heard the groomer in the back yelling at the dog it was working on, telling it to "stop moving" in the most despicable tone. The worker then proceeded to go back and ask the same groomer if she was able to take my dog today and she responded "hell no". I was completely disgusted with the customer service, but I was absolutely appalled by the way the groomer was treating the dog. My family and I will never return to this location for grooming, and I would recommend you to do the same for the sake of your pet. read more

Let me start off by saying. Rude dog groomer and the Manager, who stepped in to help the situation did not even look or acknowledge me, let alone help me. I do not trust that groomer girl , with my pet gold fish, let alone my precious babies. As the Assistant Manager arrived ,the groomer who had an attitude got more abusive in her language, I should say. The problem was a mix up on appointment the groomer said. I had my Shih Tzu, for a year and a half now. I had never taken her grooming there before, as the pet clinic did a great job. I wanted to give them a chance , 20% off coupon for grooming. They called my vet clinic ( I am very good friends with the receptionist at the clinic ) she showed me the caller ID, log that petco called and confirmed rabies shot. But the groomer said no appointment was made. She got abusive in her language, all the Manager asked her was you need to quiet down sweet heart. Well she mentioned nothing about her abusive language. I asked another guy, can I have your store Mangers phone number please. He said we don't give personal information. My reply , how is his name and business number a personal information. He then proceeds to give me an 1877 number. Really!! As waking out, I was ready to call a civil rights lawyer. My pride is on the line , even if I had to spend $2500.00 , in lawyer fees, I don't mind. The treatment was horrible and I said I am calling a lawyer. At that time, another Manger stepped in and actually helped the situation. Mind you, I think she was lower in rank than the Assistant Manager, but she had 10 times better Manager skills and acted like a gown up. The male Manager, laughed when I said does the behavior had anything to do with my middle eastern ethnicity or name (Ahmed ). I do not think this store hires quality help or teaches leadership and customer service skills to their floor leaders, except for the one that helped me. I go to pet smart now. read more
