The last time I saw my boys. We'll always wonder about you.
    Lynette A.

I liked Petco up until January of this year. I spent over $270 here and brought home two guinea pigs with everything they could ever want. The largest cage in the store (I was charged $100, even though it was available for pick-up at $85 BEFORE the 10% discount, so I was overcharged), hides, hay, chews, food, ect. I had the pigs a week and kept calling Petco after a few days. HUGE hassle getting an employee on the phone. When I did, I told them the pigs were sneezing a lot and had to be sick. The "companion care card" I was given said something to the effect of: if any vet care is needed within the first 30 days, a contracted Petco vet will provide it. The card does NOT mention the whole nonsense of: "we can only treat them if you return them for a refund so they can be under our care and not yours." They're mine. I bought them. You promised vet care. What the hell? Ok, so against my better judgement, I take them in on 2/1 and the manager tells me she'll call me with an update on Monday. She finds us wondering around the store a few minutes later looking for items to buy, because I did tell her. "They're mine and I want them, so call me when they're better." She did a great act of asking me questions like, "Should I call this number? Ok, if no one answers, should I leave a voicemail or keep calling?" She pretended to care. So she sees us in the aisle after I return my boys and she says it's ringworm and that it would explain the issues I was noticing. Ringworm causing excessive sneezing and snot covered noses? Riiiiight. She told us she'd take them to a vet if she noticed they got worse, but here's the thing. You promised a customer vet care, then made me return my pet so I could no longer be a customer, and then didn't call me back to get the boys. She never called us. Took them back on 2/1 and no update as of now. I did call *her* four days after I took them in, but she claimed not to remember me. I had to say quite a bit to "jog" her memory. Which is funny... When I was calling, calling, calling while they were home with me, we'd spoken on the phone. The first time, she gave me a vet's number and immediately hung up. Um, what? So I called back and kindly asked for the number again, since I'd missed the last two numbers. She said, "oh, ok" and repeated it. This vet turned out to only treat cats and dogs. So I called back and no answer for hours. When I finally reach her again the next day, she tried telling me about a vet (Armory Cat & Dog on Kingsbridge). I stopped her right there and said, "Nope, I already called there and they only treat cats and dogs. I bought guinea pigs." She sighed and asked me to repeat the problem I'd been having with them... then sprung that "return them for a refund and see the other pigs we have here" ultimatum on me. But when I walked into the store and requested her, she knew who I was from how much we spoke on the phone... Four days later, you magically forgot? I didn't think it was fair to make me pay at least $240 in vet bills ($120 just to walk in to Avian and Exotics for each pig) when you promised a healthy animal and vet care if they weren't. So yes, I took them back. Yes, I waited a month for a call to come buy them again that never came. Shame on Petco. Shame on this manager. Reprimand and re-train her please. She needs it, especially for the sake of your business. Also, they claim to seek guinea pigs between 4-6 months old. Another lie. They receive them at 8 weeks from breeders. I ended up adopting two last week since I had all this guinea pig stuff and no piggies. One is six months and the other is 3 weeks old... the 3 week old is the same size as the boys were.

VETCO is in town! Messy store but it was the basic needs of any pets.

To cut it short we stopped in today after getting out from work. The store was lock, perhaps for security matters. I proceeded in ringing the doorbell. It looked like there was no one on sight. Out of a corner a Caucasian woman emerged, I assume it right after the events unfolded. This woman seem like she did not one to let us in. First hand she semi open the door and asked us very rudely what did we want? I was very surprise by the attitude and the stern dislike look in her face mind you no good afternoon or any courtesy greeting. I blurted out that I needed products to control fleas for our dog. She decided to let us in, my husband felt offended with her attitude and we decided to leave right after we step in. Why spend money where you are clearly not value as a potential customer? Seriously what was her problem? Obviously anyone that comes to your store is to either purchase something or might have a question. So, why have a business open if you cannot be courteous to your neighbors? She than got upset and blurt something out, I told her plain and simple that she was being a racist, why do you have a business in the Bronx? I mean Kingsbridge is predominantly African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Albanians and Greeks. So if you can't stand Spanish or whatever particular races you have issues with than you should rethink your location. I am rather offended because she than decided to follow us out and stared taking picture of our car. Like seriously what do you think, we wanted to rob your store or what? Did she assume this because I am Hispanic? This is just intolerable; we are in NEW YORK. I really hope that people think twice about doing business with someone with her behavior. I know I am certainly letting everyone know about this incident.

But, at least once every day or two, he'd become extremely aggressive with us due to resource guarding (usually a slipper or sock) or us trying to get his collar on or off. This behavior was not limited to warnings as we got bitten many times in the hands and arms. We tried training at our local pet store but it just wasn't addressing the issues. We finally hit a point where we felt lost. We started to fear for the future, wondering how we'd ever feel safe having children around an unpredictable dog. On the other hand, he was already a member of the family so giving him up just felt impossible for us. We reached out to a nearby trainer who ended up referring Bob to us, especially because he excelled in dog aggression issues. Bob was extremely thorough even before the sessions started. He collected as much information about our particular situation as he could so he could fully understand and create a training plan that would fit our needs. The major focus was not just Bob training our dog, it was Bob teaching US how to be better trainers and owners. The results were simply incredible. We began noticing major differences in the way our puppy would act around us just after a session or two because we were stepping into the leadership role, a role that before was held by our dog. Once all the sessions were through, we really took time to remember the dog he was before and what he has become. And the result of that is simply mindblowing, he really is a different dog. Plus, it's not just us who are happier. Our puppy is so much calmer and trusting than he has ever been while retaining his fun loving and playful side. Thanks Bob! We truly cannot thank you enough!

We took him in, loved him, and still found ourselves in crisis -- biting, aggression, resource guarding. We were scared of our dog and desperate for help. Oliver was our fifth dog and as a family we were seasoned users of positive reinforcement as the primary training method. We turned to Angelo at Art of K9 and made the decision to board Oliver for 8 weeks. He took on Oliver after a thorough consultation. Angelo worked through Oliver's aggression and resource guarding using the e-collar and other training tools. These methods gave us the ability to communicate with and control our dog in a way positive reinforcement couldn't. The transformation is hard to put into words. Oliver is now relaxed, cuddly, and genuinely at peace. He still has his moments -- but now we have the tools to handle them. This has changed everything. If you have a dog with serious aggression or resource guarding and you're at your breaking point, I highly recommend Angelo. He didn't just train Oliver -- he saved his life and we are so thankful.

At first, we second guessed our choice to leave Monsi for 6-weeks because we missed her. Every time we checked in with Angelo, he updated us, but we missed our fur baby so much. Now, afterwards, I can't stop recommending this program to everyone I know. It's a worthwhile investment IF you plan to KEEP UP with it. All of Angelo's work can easily be undone with dog owners that do not upkeep the foundation he creates. Currently our dog listens to each command after one time saying it, she is walking off leash behind us, does not lurk around the table while we eat or cook, stays in place for 2-hours and counting, and more. Overall, she has many service dog qualities. I need to give credit where it is due because our dog was unsure of herself, very anxious, annoying at times because she didn't know what to do during quiet hours at home and needed way too much physical exercise (4+ hours daily). He taught us, and our dog Monsi, that exercise and socialization looks different than we thought. Monsi is the dog we dreamed of and didn't know how to achieve. He tapped into her potential. She does not impede our life in anyway. She adds on to the quality and is stress free now that we know how to maintain and handle her. Not only that, but my parents sent their dog at the same time as our dog. So now we have two dogs that listen to the same command. We can bring our dogs on vacation and have complete calm and fun with them present. This was the greatest gift to a life of joy with a well trained fur family member! Thank you Angelo and Art of K9. I know picking a program at such a cost is nerve recking since there is not enough information or proof online but promise me, this is the place. We put a lot of trust into prior reviews and tiktok/Instagram videos.... We got lucky finding this place. It's a hidden gem of Westchester. If anyone needs more details to convince you this program is worth it, contact me. I'll convince you- haha!
