I had to seek help and saw her trying to ignore me and run to the back of the store. It was my daughter birthday and I wanted to get her a hamster this manager/ employee was rude and talked down to me when I had an inquired about what to purchase for the hamster. This was by far one of the worst experiences I have had. We left this store disappointed But the good thing is I didn't waste my money at this location. UPDATE ON MY CAT: My cat is alive and well now. 2 days ago he had his surgery to get his kidney crystals removed and the surgery was successful and stayed hospitalized for a few days. He was discharged yesterday and is doing very well and we took him for a check up at our local small vet and he was perfectly healthy unlike Petco being a lying bitch about everything almost killing my cat. Those guys are charging for bringing pet to them...The lady "Lucia", with colorful mask, wanted me to buy a carrier to vaccinate a kitten. Meanwhile she could not find this policy itself. Their vaccine prices are tricky. They add extra useless staff, that your pet actually do not need, like a blood test or deworming, that you could do yourself. I'd just gotten my dog a few days before coming in (unfortunate side effect of loving in NYC - my friend had to give up his dog due to building rules) and my little Bailey was super freaked out. She desperately needed a proper cut because of the matting, otherwise I would not have put her through that. Juneka understood and tried every possible trick she knew to try and calm my little fur hurricane. Unfortunately nothing worked, but she persisted with a smile and a great sense of humor. My two Maltese were in need of a haircut for summer, so I took them here - first time! I'll definitely be back. I worked with two male associates who were great. Even though my dogs were barking like crazy with separation anxiety when I dropped them off, they were handled very well and calmed down once I left. Took about 90 minutes for both dogs. Cut is exactly what I wanted - short all over (it's too hot outside for them to have a thick coat!) but longer tail and ears. How can you tell me you don't carry an item that is sitting on the shelf behind you? How can you tell me the wrong total when the cash register is ringing up for you? Why do I have to keep taking pictures of the prices on the shelf because it is wrong in your system? Why are there only two person and the other person keeps disappearing in the back? Who is the manager and why can you never speak to one? The mom and pop's pet stores in the are should really give Petco an award since they are keeping them in business by being so incompetent. And do not get me started about Jane LaRosa , the groomer. She smells like an ashtray everytime even though we tell her our dog is on medication for allergies especially cigarette smoke. She complains about a whining dog (part of your job, really I can't sympathize too much.) She is very rude and main reason I never tip her. The day I learn to groom my dog besides wash and blow dry is the last time I bring them back. The last time I was there the cashier rang me up wrong. The line was long I didn't notice so I was a bit shocked when Jane takes my receipt and starts to walk back to the cashier. All subsequent request for her, the manager and the cashier to tell me what was wrong was basically ignored until they then tell me to swipe my card for an additional $32. When I refuse the cashier gave me some half-assed story. When I checked the math (based on the initial grooming receipt) I only had to pay 16. I can't deal with this place and I won't! read more

The young man was very knowledgeable about food for adult turtles and we discussed vitamins and nutrients which are very necessary for a long and healthy life for turtles. I've had two cats for over 5 years. Not until I got a puppy two years ago, that I made my way to this Petco. I always find myself just walking around- trying to find anything that I really need for my pets. After about 3-4 trips out there, I don't feel the real need to go there. It has things for all my babies, but I can easily get them at the Petland discount in my neighborhood. I generally don't buy their cat or dog food- too overpriced. Maybe I'll get them treats that I don't typically find at PD. but that's about it. Toys are overpriced too. It's okay for large selections and showing off your pooch...but that's it for me. This specific Petco is ok...and I mean just OK. I wanted to go to Petsmart but I didn't want to drive all the way to Staten Island. The parking is weird. They are right next to a Burger King. Do they share the same parking lot? I don't know. There were only 5 meters out in front.
