Let me start by saying if I could give a less than 1 star rating I would. Not only will I never be patronizing Petco Collierville, I will never be patronizing ANY Petco location in 48 contiguous states. On two different occasions within the last 2 months, my family has had to take my dog to receive emergency care at the vet after being groomed at this location; both times being a viral infection. The first time we thought it was a one off situation as we had been getting him groomed at this location since we got him 2 years ago. The second time it happened created a trend and our concern was that there was something happening behind the scenes. Of course when you're not there it's really hard to tell. We reached out to the store directly and cooperate about the matter. Our ask was simply to cover the doctor bills since what happened was a result of getting groomed at the location. PETCO was helpful to a degree although the attitude my parents received from the store manager was less than stellar. The district manager for this store at first was helpful. Against better judgement we even decided to set another appointment for grooming which was supposed to be tomorrow 08/14. On yesterday PETCO decided to reimburse us for 1 of the doctor bills which we thought was going to be no strings attached. We were sadly mistaken. This morning we received a call, NOT FROM THE STORE MANAGER NOR THE DISTRICT MANAGER (Whom we just spoke to on yesterday and never mentioned any of what will follow) but from the groomer to let us know not only would our dog no longer be welcomed to be groomed by PETCO but that he was no longer welcomed to be groomed by her. After speaking with the district manager, my parents were told that they were doing "What's in the best interest of the company". They were also made to feel as if they had been dishonest about the situation given that they only received a copy of 1 of the doctors bills when we stated there were 2 instances. Something that could have easily been rectified had they reached out to us to let us know they never received the other copy. The district manager also had a VERY NASTY disposition with them during today's interaction. To say I am livid is an understatement. This level of disrespect is unacceptable. Where my parents are being a class act about the situation, I am not. Not only will I not patronize this store, I fully intend to de-influence ANY AND EVERY body I come in contact with to not do patronize this store. I have friends who are content creators with very large followings who I will also be reaching out to as well to use their platform. As much as we have patronized this business over the last 10-15 years (as we had another dog before this one) it is disheartening to be treated such a way. But PETCO will never get another dime from me. AND if I can help it I will make it my mission to make sure they don't get another dime from anyone else I know...or don't know for that matter. read more

On 7/3/23 we took our Great Pyrenees to Petco 1670 in Collierville, TN, for grooming. He was scheduled for a bath with the Essentials Plus package (full coat brushing, nail trim, and teeth brushing). We did not order a haircut. He had recently been brushed out there were no matted clumps we knew of. We dropped him off for his 12:00pm appointment and was told it would take 2-3 hours to complete it. We were told that they would call when he was ready. More than two hours later, we receive a call from the groomer who states that our dog has matted patches of fur and needs those areas trimmed (not shaved). We agreed to this. By 6:00pm, Petco had yet to call. We called the store grooming line multiple times but nobody ever answered. Finally around 6:00pm, Petco called saying he was ready for pickup. We were told we had to pay before they would bring him out for us to see him. We felt this was deceptive since we have never been asked this before but did anyways to expedite the pickup. We added a $30 tip when the clerk asked for one. This brought our total to nearly $150 with tax, at least $50 more than expected. When we arrived at the store, we were shocked to see our Great Pyrenees had been shaved completely bald from neck to tail. A Great Pyrenees has a double layer coat that helps them radiate heat off them similar to a heat sink. Their coat protects their skin from the sun. These dogs can never be shaved bald. Having been shaved bald, our dog now has zero protection from the heat and sun in the Tennessee summer. Additionally, he was returned to us with numerous raw spots on his skin that appear to be cuts and scrapes from the fur clippers. By shaving his entire body bald, they have put my dog in grave danger. He now cannot go outside in the daylight due to risk of heat stroke and sunburn. He is at risk for infection from the raw spots. They have also put him at risk for not having a full coat this winter. He is in pain and has been traumatized. read more

i was very anxious about finding a groomer for my rescue dog. she is over 100 pounds and very anxious around other people and other dogs, but the time came and we started with just a nail buff. my brother was a groomer at this location years ago and he recommended Micah because i wanted a guy that could handle such a large dog. we called ahead just in case and Micah was fantastic with my dog. her nails looked great and he said she was really good for him. ever since then, we make the drive from midtown to collierville just to see Micah for nails and grooming. we love him! read more

Five stars are not enough for the staff at the Collierville Petco! With an emergency for a neighbor's pet turtle that I was caring for, I dashed to this store because it was close. What I found was an "Aquatic Specialist", Kristen was a wealth of knowledge and together we corrected the hostile environment that had happened since the owners were away! She was calm, loving and very careful with Mr. Turtle who was 38 years old. Her history and knowledge in that department is truly amazing and should anyone need help with an aquarium, fish, reptile or amphibian, Kristen and Petco should be first on your list! This store is lousy. The shelves and aisles are a mess, with products on the floor, and, God forbid you should interrupt the staff who are stood around chatting, when they could be helping customers and tidying the aisles. I asked where I could find a training collar and leash and one woman pointed in the general direction of dog stuff, before turning her back on me, and continuing her non-work-related conversation. I got hubby a new 55 gallon fish tank off Collierville Resale because he had one years ago and loved it. We really couldn't remember what to do so we decided to try to check Petco out for advice. If you're buying fish you want to talk to Ms. Darlene for any questions. She is the aquatics expert and thus actually knows what she is talking about. There are other people who may help you a little bit but they just don't know as much and may accidentally misguide you. Darlene helped us figure out that we needed to get a different filter and heater for our new 55 gallon tank. She also helped us figure out what kind of rocks we wanted to use with our glow light. She also helped us figure out what we needed to do to get our tank ready for our fish. This store will also meet in-store deals at other places, such as Pet Smart, which is pretty neat. read more

OR you have 2 working with people to figure out what kinda fish they think is pretty. The reason why it costs so much to have aquariums and participate in fishkeeping is because of stores like Petco. Have you seen their prices? Everything is grossly over-priced. In addition, the fish in this store are pathetic! Whoever is in charge of managing the aquariums needs to be replaced. In fact, this store needs new management. I have been in several times and found the store personnel to be far less than friendly, and completely unhelpful. Don't bother asking them any questions that require knowledge of dealing with fish and such. Petco is basically the mal-wart of pet stores - they run the mom 'n pop stores out of business then raise their prices, all while providing lackluster-at-best products and services. read more

I Took my little dog to Petco to get grooming. First time they did a great job said she did good. Second time different groomer they cut or too short I call back and complain. I called today to get an appointment and they said they had a note that my dog was aggressive. I guess that's what they do when you complain about their work! I always had problems whenever the shop their store to get anybody to help me. I thought I would give the groomers a chance. But I will never go there again. read more

The little dog I rescued was totally full of matted hair everywhere. Jennifer took her in her arms and loved on her. When I picked her up, she was a brand new little puppy. Jennifer worked out all the matts so she can start over with a new coat of fur! Jennifer was awesome!! read more

They have everything we need. The prices are generally fair, and they do send worthwhile coupons by mail. My children love to look at ALL the animals every time they are with me, so I have to plan for an hour if I have the littles. Otherwise, it's easy in, easy out. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and easy to find. We've had our dog's nails trimmed and buffed here many times. It is much less expensive than at the vet, and the groomer's spoil him with treats and love. read more

Took my 5 month old puppy here for his for his first grooming appointment. They said they could only do "face, feet, and fanny" for the first appointment since he's not used to being groomed, which is totally understandable. However, all they really did was his face and a very poor job on the other two areas. I had to take him to another groomer the next day, and they managed to do an excellent job. I still had to pay over $60 for the subpar service at Petco. read more

Do not use these groomers! I just took my 14 year old dog there for a nail trim and explicitly told them at desk to be cautious of his extremely long quicks. 3 of his nails were bleeding when we left and his paw pads are raw from trimming the hair on his feet! So disappointed! read more

Petco is awesome!!! Just got my baby back from the groomer/stylist and (Jennifer) is amazing!!! My puppy looks so cute right now. He looks so clean and polished. He was severely matted around the ears and mouth area and she was able to fix him up and he even has the most adorable mo-hawk. read more

First and last visit. Took my Great Pyrenees to be groomed. I talked with the groomer. Showed her exactly what I was hoping for. Discussed that GP's have an undercoat, wanted to make sure it's brushed out along with his top coat. I discussed blending the long hair on my dogs "pantaloons & mane" At one point in looking at my dog, the groomer said " Oh he's matted up" I explained that NO he isn't matted. I brush him out every other day. He's a double coated dog, which I showed her at this point bc I had mentioned it to her while I was showing her about what I needed trimmed and blended. Asked for bath & the de shedding treatment. When I went to pick up my dog, I paid 175.00 for services. Then they brought my dog out. OMG! He was completely shaved. All the way down. His top coat....GONE! His undercoat was even shorn. His tail is the only part of him not shaved. Even the bottom of his paws were shaved & his paw pads were red & seemed to bother him since he kept licking at them. The only positive was that he smelled really nice. What is the point of having a discussion with a groomer if they're going to do what's easiest for them or perhaps the only thing they know how to do? If the groomer couldn't do what I was asking, why wouldn't she just tell me. I still would have had him bathed! . I will NEVER EVER use petco for grooming again!!!! read more

We recently bought a bearded dragon... our very first reptile pet, from Petco. The store not only has most of what we need, but the staff have been very helpful. We come in often for new items or refills, and Kane, a Petco employee and reptile owner, has been really helpful in answering the many questions we have. Before our reptile, we've brought our dogs, big and small, to be bathed. They've been wonderful and dealt with our stubborn lab, who rolled around on the ground WITH the groomer.
