Do not get your dog groomed at this location (La Habra Petco). If you do choose to use this facility do not use the groomer names TAMMY (or Tami). I spent 15-20 minutes describing the cut I would like for my dog. When I picked him up I almost started crying. His cut looked absolutely ridiculous and all of the hair on his ears was shaved off. When I called the store manager he offers to give me 25% off my next grooming appointment!!! Now is the time to laugh if I wasn't so upset about the disappointment about the job done on my dog. I come here mainly to get my dog's nails trimmed and buffed. The team at the grooming counter has always been really helpful. I've seen Gabby the most, and she's always been super friendly and approachable, especially with my nervous wreck of a pooch. Nail service is walk-in with no appointment necessary, so the team here always tries to make sure I can be in and out. I appreciate the groomers telling me of stuff I have to look out for on my dog, such as cracked nails (which have been an issue with my dog). My advice is to come in the morning (esp if it's a weekend), as they can get pretty booked (even if you are a walk-in, appointments may have priority if they don't have enough hands). read more

IMPORTANT TIP: ABOUT THEIR VETCO vaccination clinic ! We had just gotten out of the clinic, and it was a specific brunette fair skinned girl with hair in a bun. I wish I got her name because I just heard some of the most backwards, baffling words come out of her mouth. She should not be working for a place that cares about pets. We usually have a specific place on Saturday we go to for any vaccinations but we were working with a rescue on Saturday. We're fosters, we rescue, we TNR. We're quite involved. The first thing she tells us is "No we can't vaccinate your foster kitten because he has to be 8wks" which is a medical debate but fair enough. Lakewood Pet Vet would argue 6wks is fine. Mary S. Roberts would argue 5wks is fine. Other rescues sometimes even recommend 4wks for orphan kittens because they are so at risk. This lady goes on to say, scripted, "Because they're so young and because they have their maternal antibodies in them it would be ineffective" so we supply her with the info that "He hasn't been with his mom since he was 3 days old, he was an abandoned neonate so there's no maternal antibodies in him which is why he needs his vacs" - instead she starts giving attitude and false information directed at rescues. "We care most about the health of the pets and not making money. I don't know how rescues do it but it's so you have to keep coming back for them to make profit - we aren't here for money." Laughable, a rescue meant to make money when they are non-profit and constantly have depleted funds due to trying to rescue the most at-risk animals? She continued the conversation berating rescue efforts. In the end, it doesn't matter that we were rejected. I should have called to make sure our kitten's age complied with their beliefs but the part that enraged me is that there's someone working closely with animals and their caretakers that have the stupidity to berate rescues & their practices meanwhile she works for flipping vetco, owned by petco, a multimillion dollar enterprise that is DEFINITELY super in it for money. You think your cool see through shatter proof glass aesthetic box room with two LED, tinted mini fridges is paid for - by what? Meanwhile rescues just have a small room they have to double up as an office, and offer services for less than half the price petco offers? Get that attitude checked and maybe try working for a rescue to see how much money they're actually making. To add more detail to my review of what she told us - she told us that rescues make you have to return 3 times for FVRCP shots, "in order to make you pay more" (@ our usual spot 3x would be $45 total). Then contradicts herself and tells us that we would have to return 3x to vetco at 8wks 12wks 16wks (@ vetco it's $105 total). She kept pushing that these "rescue practices" are profit driven while backpedaling and saying that their clinic also does the exact same thing. NEWSFLASH: FVRCP shots always has to be done in 3 separate boosters. This isn't a profit driven mechanism, this is how you administer it, period. PLUS, her own clinic does the same thing so where is this double standard coming from? She doesn't know what she's talking about. She should not be working for a clinic, or she should be sat down and properly educated. I've attached an image containing the price comparisons of MARY S. ROBERTS which has an affordable open clinic every Saturday that is truly non-profit 9:30AM-11:30AM (FVRCP is $15) vs Petco's vetco ($35) as well as other services they both offer. It's blatant which facility is pricing their vaccines for profit. Hint: petco. Please educate your staff & for Pete's sake the least you can do is Not Berate Rescues. read more

TLDR: managers and store employees are rude, disrespectful, and almost seem spiteful. They cancelled my grooming appointment when I arrived for my appointment because of my dogs condition that the groomers have known about for 5 years. I have been coming here for over 5 years, and unfortunately had to delete my previous 5-star review from a few years ago because of the employee experience today and the overall quality of the store going down over the last few years. My dog has ME, which has been well-known by the groomers at this particular store since I've started coming here and it's never been a problem. As a law student with a job, it is difficult to find time to bring my dog in. I scheduled an appointment a week ago. They called me and texted me to try to get me to come in early today, but I couldn't answer. I finally was able to text back, but they said "no I have to go lunch at 2:00 so just come in at 2:30." Which seemed rude to me, but whatever. when I arrived, they seemed to be in a bad mood. I figured they were having a bad day so I tried to be as nice and friendly. The lady at the groomer counter, who did not appear to be a groomer, asked (as they usually do) does your dog have any issues we should know about, so I said yes, she has ME, meaning she basically can't have any treats. The other groomers know about it and it's never been an issue. The lady, almost happy that she gets to cancel the appointment, says she can't take my dog right now, and that my dog needs to come back for a special appointment, because of "many changes in policy." I said I don't have time to come back and I schedule this spot a week ago, and they should've told me this when I scheduled the appointment. she grabbed her manager, who also gave very poor customer service, and just tried to schedule me for an appointment on a different day. Instead of saying there were changes in policy, she told me the truth that one of the groomers took off early and they didn't have anyone to watch my dog. My dogs condition is not so bad that she needs to be watched 24/7, she just can't have any treats, and the other groomers know about her condition and should have it in her file. I said I wouldn't be able to come back for like 3 weeks, and she just shrugged her shoulders, and so I said that's fine I'll just go to pet smart down the street. I would've totally been fine if they had called earlier and asked me to come another day, but they had no right to be so rude and condescending, and I had already drove down there and was ready to drop my dog off. It was so infuriating. I will not be coming back to Petco, that's for sure! read more

5 star experience. We have had Marmelaide for 4 years. We picked her up when she was a tiny less than 1 inch long. It has been 4 years since then. She is a great looking fish about 3 inch long. We have had to move her to a bigger tanks twice. Because we had to travel for a while we wanted her a nice home. Fortunately, this Petco is kind enough to adopt her back. She is now back in an even bigger and better home with so many friends. We feel blessed that Marmelaide would have a bigger and better future. A super nice Store Manager, Spencer told me that she would make sure only customers with a big enough tank (100 gallon tank) would be allowed to bring Marmelaide home. Knowing this, we feel so happy knowing the next 25 years Mermelaide would in better hands. This type of assurance is what has helped us to decide to surrender Marmelaide back. This also gives us much more comfort in the future if we decide to pick up more fish, knowing that if circustances change and we are not able to take care of the fish, a loving home at Petco, with loving staff are always waiting there with wide open and loving arms. Wow I was hesitant to come for nail trim for my puppy seeings all these 1 star reviews but I'm glad I did! We came in as a walk in and they took my dog for a "nail and buff". I'm already a customer at the other petco (which is just ok and always have to schedule a grooming month in advance. Maybe there are more dogs in Snonbb-itos, which explains the demand and wait but thats been my experience for 5 years!) Anyway, the front desk girl was professional and courteous. Asked me all the basic questions and for my dogs documentation and once that was accepted we were good to go! I was nervous because my puppy isn't too jazzed on strangers and vet office. While I don't come here for grooming (I get a better price and super easy appointments in Rowland Heights), this place is great for a bath, brush and dry. Brownie, my shih tzu, came out white and fluffy, like a stuffed animal and he smelled sooooooo good!!! Getting an appointment was easy and easy to change due to an emergency. Checking in took a little long, though: the groomers use ear protection and there's no way to hail one when you're waiting out front, so you wait... and wait... and wait... Same goes for pick up. However, since it was closer to the mid afternoon, pick up was fast compared to drop off. For the $24.00 plus $2.00 donation for homeless pets, it was a fairly good deal. Brownie was pampered and looked great and smelled even better. I don't know what they did to make him so white, but whatever they use, keep it up! read more

We brought Lucky for his monthly grooming. Randie was there to greet us. She went over to Lucky and saw all his needs. Our boy(dog) is a maltipoo he gets matted often. And Randie helped us on how to comb and brush him. She was very Informative. We felt at peace leaving Lucky with Randie. Petco is very lucky to have Randie. I would not recommend the grooming service. It took 3 different associates to come to conclusion they won't groom my dog. First it was I was 10 min late (when there is 15 min grace period) but I guess on a busy day, that's not acceptable and I need to call (although I didn't know beach and imperial had 2 lanes closed). Then associate #1 ran her hands through my dogs fur and said my dog had too much shedding and it was extra cost. No problem that's why she's here to be groomed. Then It was my dog had a flea collar and can't be seen with any collars. She leaves to bring Next associate #2 who now reevaluates my dog again to now say my dog has dirty ears which I said she has allergies and it's a chronic ear infection she's had her whole dog life. Her doctor gives her shots. Associate #2 says if she take meds they won't see her (which I had clear bill of health from her veterinarian, but they didn't want to look at my paperwork). She then proceeds to say I need to speak with my other manager associate #3 to see if we can groom her. Of course comes back to deny service to say now it's a policy. I need to take her to a small groomer. I now speak to associate #3 to ask what happened and says she won't force her groomer (associate #2) to groom my dog if she's not comfortable. So who or why did associate #2 lie to say she needed approval? Really she had already make her decision. My issue is my dog has been here prior with all these same issues with no problem (with a good review on how loving my dog was) but unfortunately the groomer she's seen doesn't work there anymore. All I can say is I've never ever called to file a complaint until this incident. And I hope to never feel the way I felt when I left this establishment. read more

My wife called in to Inquire about kitten adoptions. She was transferred to an adoption representative who mentioned they had no kittens available. However, she began inquiring if we were in a position to foster 5 cats. Confused, my wife replied no, to which the representative proceeds to tell my wife that she is selfish for taking one kitten since it's a traumatic event to separate them. Brought our Dandie Dinmont Terrier for grooming. We just adopted him and he came home a mess (smelly, matted hair accompanied with gum stuck on his face and leg, flea feces, dandruff). Trust me, he needed a cleaning and makeover ASAP but we needed to wait for his neutering wound to heal prior to his first bath and haircut since adoption. Randie was our groomer and she was great. Informative, friendly, and our dog got along with her. The rep I interacted with when picking up was also friendly and professional. Every time I need some pet supplies I come to Petco in La Habra! The service there is always great. We have purchased guinea pigs through this location for a while now. Each one of our little girls have been healthy and strong, with no problems whatsoever. Although the place is small and doesn't have all the accessories some places have, their customer service is excellent and that's why I keep returning! We also have two dogs, so this means we buy a lot every few months. The Perks reward club really helps and you can find great deals online. Thank you PetCo! From 1982-2017 we took our dogs ( 6 dogs through my life) to Art's pet grooming in Whittier. We moved to la habra/brea area 2 years ago and Arts is about 8 miles from us...a little too far. 2 years ago one of my dogs needed a good groom. We went to petco for the first time when it was on Idaho and Whittier. The location and staff were amazing! We were really happy to find people that truly were great. About a year ago, petco moved down to where it is now on imperial. It must have turned over the entire staff, because it was definitely different service. We got our dogs groomed a couple times, but it was not as warm of an atmosphere and it seemed more expensive (and the quality went down). We tried a small place near our new house and it was almost double the price of Art's and of petco and the owner changed the price on us when we showed up. So, we went back to petco for two more sessions. Last week, I took one of my dogs. The price went up, the service was odd, the girl was rude, and my dog had nics on him ;( ;( I didn't want to leave him, but we had a family emergency and I hadn't slept the day before so I was not thinking. I went home and sent my husband to pick him up. They didn't charge us and i could see why. The quality of the cut was kind of bad and my dog was nicked. I'm done. No more petco. I may go to Arts and drive far. We never had a change of price or an injury or anything. I advise that once you find somewhere, keep going there! What can I say...I adore Petco. Compared to PetSmart they are just better organized and easy to get around. This location was not too busy, so that's a plus. The cashier even came to find me to make sure I was finding everything. I've been going to the Whittier location due to travel time. Now that Hacienda Blvd is open this one is just as close. I took my cocker for the first time to this specific location & they're beyond amazing! Gabby groomed my baby and took care of her beyond needs! I explained how my dog doesn't like the hair dryer and she managed to some how get my baby used it with comfort! I also explained how my previous location would leave my baby in the kennel to air dry for 4 hours... gabby explained to me that it isn't allowed! This is a nice Petco compared to my usual Cerritos location. I am only reviewing the store and none of the other services. The store seems more up-to-date from the paintings on the wall to the flooring of the store. All the fixtures including: shelves, carts, and lighting are in newer condition and not falling apart. It is clean and it does not have dog urine smell like other locations. The isles are smaller and barely two carts can fit into one isle. Being this store is smaller, it seems they carry less products of dog food and treats. They seem to only carry the well-known brands that can be found in all dog stores, but if you are looking for a specific brand call ahead to make sure they have it. They have the typical grooming, training, and vet inside the store. They have their own veterinary clinic called Vetco and it was my first time seeing it. It is a small room with one bed and there were no doctors inside - maybe it is by appointment only. The "dog park training area" is clean and well kept, smaller than others but not big enough to train a lot of dogs in one session. They had plenty of 50% off merchandise (toys, clothes, treats) in which none of them were labeled so we had to ask which ones were on sale. Every Petco seems to have this problem and they never do anything to fix the prices on their products (if they actually took the time to label the prices more customers would probably buy their products). As a constant dog mom shopper, this makes me steer away from all Petco. It would be helpful to place stickers on the discounted items instead of asking each individual product if it is on sale. They also had the mini-dog bakery with cookies that you grab and pack yourself. Many of the pricier products are locked up in cases like dog collars and dog monitors. For dog food prices it is clearly labeled and matches when they are scanned in the register. They also sell the usual small animals such as fish and reptiles. If you are looking for cats they have a great selection, they had around 4 cats ready for adoption when we were there. The selections are small and limited though. The employees are okay, you have to flag them if you need assistance (we were there for 20 min and no one came up to ask if we needed help) and we went in the middle of the work week where the store was practically empty. Plenty of parking outside and they have dog thrash bags in the parking lot right by the door incase you need it. read more

Scheduled a online grooming service one week back for my pet and website indicated to bring in up to date vaccination records and nothing else. On day of appointment took my dog and all his vaccination details I got from his doctor's office I was provided. But I was left in total surprise when groomer told me that they don't trust customer bringing records and want to see the actual invoice from doctors office. They told me anyone can mark on vaccination records book and invoice is a must. I told them, no one mentioned about it while booking appointment else I would have got the invoice since now I know they don't trust there customers showing proof of vaccination and only will take pet after they see the invoice. I asked them to give me 15 min and will go back home and get the invoice since I was not informed it is mandatory and they don't trust records from book we got from Doctors office, they didn't allow that and told me they are full and another dog will come in so have to rebook the appointment for some other day. Ended up my pet not getting the grooming service today and have to wait for another week unfortunately. I am closing my account with Petco and moving away to Petsmart and specially I would never go again at Petco La Habra location even for buying other stuffs. Totally not cool and unprofessional as they don't trust there own customers. Not only that if Invoice is required, they should let customers know before hand and not on the day when they show up at store on day of appointment. read more

We just moved to this area and my dog needed a bath and a haircut. We normally go to PetSmart but Petco was a lot closer and I decided to give it a try. While checking my dog in I notified the groomer that she has some growths in her breast area. She's been evaluated by a veterinarian and she's fine but will need surgery for removal in the future. It's never been an issue with her previous groomer. Not even an hour later I get a call saying that she's unable to finish her haircut because my dog will not stand up and she's uncomfortable pushing on her growths. Fine, whatever. I leave to pick her up and the groomer is no where to be found. I had to wait about 20 minutes until the other groomer was done with her client before giving my dog back. Luckily they didn't charge me because services where unable to be completed. First and last time coming here. I should have read the reviews before coming here since it seems like they like to cancel for medical issues. read more

I went to get to get Feline combo test for my cat. This Petco has wellness center which it is like a private room with the veterinarian. Everybody including the registration guy, vet technician and the doctor were extremely helpful and attentive. I went to get feline combo, tapeworm deworming only but the vet took a look of general health of my cat. I even asked the doctor about like a bump in her belly, and she took a closer look and gently touched and told me it is fine. I loved the way these people handled the pets. I asked a question to a staff looking for a special kind of treat and she was dedicated to find what I was looking for. The guy at the cash register loved my cat.... Over all I'm very satisfied with this location. It was the best Petco I ever went to. Everybody seemed happy and warm, including the customers. read more
