Great service and good products, but *DO NOT BUY YOUR PETS HERE*. I purchased my juvenile gecko here during the Reptile Rally, and upon my FIRST visit to the vet with her, despite looking like the healthiest out of the store's geckos and being promised that she was healthy, it was found that she had multiple parasites and diseases, including Cryptosporidium (a *very* deadly parasite). After $500 in vet bills and specialized medicine, she passed away. Never buying an animal here again. read more

On numerous occasions I have purchased spoiled dog food from this location that has made my dogs sick.. at first I thought it was the brand (Wellness), so we switched to Blue Buffalo... same issue. We were able to return our bag the first time it happened, but after the second time is when we decided to switch brands only to find the same issue. I purchased the same Blue Buffalo food from the Target in the same shopping center and no problem. In comparison to the bag bought from Target, the one purchased from Petco smelled very sour and old. I hope they fix whatever the problem is to prevent more animals getting sick. read more

I bring my dog here for grooming, great job those groomers do, indeed, my dog is always clean and happy when he gets out of there. -my problem is with the store, by cause when I go to pay for my dog's grooming services to the cash register, I use debit and I ask for cash back, they refuse to give me that service, then I point that I need money to go and tip my groomers, the store clerk says that the tips can be done with a PETCO GIFT CARD, ha haaa, so that means that ultimately the store is trying to get the benefit and that is not correct and is not fair, I want my groomers to be able to spend the money of the tip on whatever they want, and not only in the store. Went in for a simple return from a website order and neither the cashier or manager were willing to help me with a return. I have the packing slip with the order number and the email from the website from my order. They would not look anything up with my pals account or by my order number. The cashier and manager both smelled like marijuana. It was so strong that I could actually smell it the second I walked in the door. I honestly think that they were both high on the job. Do not buy salt water fish from this corrupt company . They will sell you sick fish and when you bring them back within 12 hours they just cite their policy on return of saltwater fish: NO RETURNS ON SALTWATER FISH!!!! This store has good service 95% of the time there are a few people there that I constantly go back to ( like Tim). The first time I went in he was very knowledgeable and helpful when I was trying to get started on taking care of my new puppy which is a malshi aka Maltese/shih tzu. He didn't try to push me into buying anything over the top crazy. I will keep coming back to this store since it has all my necessities for my new pup and its right next door to me. A couple of weeks ago it was the kid in the fish department and today it was the kid that patiently stood there and let me pet ALL of the cats I had no intention in buying. They have made at least one error when ringing up my purchases (I don't buy any special orders or services, just dog and cat food) EVERY SINGLE TIME I have shopped there in the past several months. I only have gone back to this store because it is only a few minutes away and I figure "really, I'm only picking up two things, could they really mess that up???" And the answer is yes. Always always yes. 100% of the time the cashiers (and managers-- three separate ones to be exact) make SEVERAL errors. I spent TWENTY-FIVE minutes checking out today because the manager had to figure out why the register was not accepting Petco-issued coupons on the items I was purchasing. Then two of their in-store promos didn't give me the discount advertised. He claimed to have fixed them but I showed him on two separate occasions that he did not. I had to repeat myself over and over explaining THEIR promotion and he just did not understand what to do (here is the impossible mystery of their promotion: buy 1 bag of N cat food, get 3 free cans of N cat food. How is that hard to grasp??). He said he fixed coupons that weren't accepted as they should have been, and I had to point out that he missed a couple of those too. I have NEVER had this experience, or even a small portion of it, at the Petco on Warm Springs or Tropicana. How is that even possible that the Petco on Blue Diamond is so discombobulated and incompetent??? I will never shop here again, the aggrevation of having to carefully keep tabs on their mistakes and correcting the manager when he doesn't know what he is doing, or claims to have given you what they owe you when multiple times he CLEARLY did not, is just too exhausting. I will drive quite out of my way to go to another Petco. Save yourself the anguish and do not shop here. read more

Oh why oh why can't this Petco be near me? It's big, it's fully stocked and it doesn't smell! The outside seems far plainer than a few other Petco stores I have visited it but it is made up for in the inside by the fabulous selection of grain and gluten free cat food. The layout is a bit strange, all of the food seems to be against the wall and the aisles go in "U" shape. But no matter, they had almost every single brand of cat food I was looking for, Merrick, Natural Balance, Nature's Variety, Blue Basics etc. and they had bunches of canned food selections. Isaac in the aquarium department was the most helpful person I've ever met. He helped me pick out everything I needed for my new husky and gave me very detailed information and good tips. To the manager that wouldn't price match a bark collar which was selling in store for $70 and was online for $30... Hey? guess what... I wasn't trying to get one over on you, I told you wasn't a big deal you wouldn't price match it... It was from an online retailer that you wouldn't price match. No big deal but don't ask me to look at my phone and then proceed to tell me that it wasn't the same collar. I know that it was, I'm not stupid I don't need any further excuses or reasons why you won't do it. I feel bad not doing a price match was warranted as you'd said it was a online retailer that you don't price match. I know Walmart going to have better prices, but not this much lower. The mark up on pet beds at Petco is ridiculous. I found the some of the very same doggy beds (basically a couch pillow) at Walmart for $16-$22 that Petco sells for $45 and up!! Their dog crates can be found online for less than half the Petco price on Amazon as well and I also found the same dry dog food at just about every grocery store I checked at lower prices (in most cases) than at Petco..even with a Petco card...the only reason to shop here would be for the wider variety of items and the grooming service, but I would definitely compare prices before buying anything here..especaily the doggy beds...ripoff! read more

Seems to be new employees every time I come in except the overweight one, which I don't understand. She has zero customer service skills and is exceedingly rude. The cages at this place are always filthy. Their stock of cat litter and the small animal section in general is abysmal. Their prices are way too high compared to competitors. My experience with all the workers was great until i was interrupted by a man named Steven. Another worker, Jake was quiet helpful during my business until Steven rudely pulled him away from me. Jake was helping me start up my first turtle tank and he was telling me a bunch of things that i never knew about turtles. I was shocked when steven looked at jake and said "get over here" while he was in the middle of helping me. Helping customers should always be a priority. I used to shop here because of it's proximity to other stores I frequent in the area, and I used to bring my dog in for nail trims/grinding, but apparently nobody works here anymore. The last time I came in about a month ago there was nobody in the salon, and again today - the groomer wasn't going to be in until noon... I wish I could pick and choose my hours like that. Can I give it a zero? I bought a new chew toy for my 11 month old puppy at Petco. It is a "chew" toy - made for chewers and designed to be chewed called the Multi Texture Chew Ring by Petstages. Unfortunately, within mere minutes, my puppy chewed apart all 4 of the rubber balls attached to the rope, and pulled the rope to shreds in one part of the rope ring. I was shocked that he did that so quickly. Most of his toys last at least a couple weeks, some much longer, and he chews them all. I brought the chewed up bits and the rope ring, along with my receipt, back to Petco later that same afternoon. The clerk would not get a manager because supposedly she was "on break." The clerk told me that there was nothing that Petco would do as far as exchange it, because nothing was wrong with the toy - it was "my dog's fault for chewing it so quickly." Another clerk showed up to the register and agreed with the first clerk. I explained that I understood my dog chewed it up - I did not deny that - but to chew it to pieces within minutes is not my dog's fault - the "chew" toy is obviously not durable. They refused to do anything at all for me even though I shop there often, I live within a couple miles of the store, and I am a pet lover and would end up buying much more than that $12 chew toy over the years to come. I explained that PetSmart has told me that if a dog chews apart a toy immediately, to bring it back for a full refund so I thought Petco would have the same policy. Neither clerk bothered to contact the manager or to exchange it. An 11 month old puppy has many years of food, grooming, toys, clothes, leashes, and accessories to acquire and I will not be purchasing any of them at Petco ever again. They lost my plentiful business over a $12 chew toy and their poor customer service. read more

The manager (Krista) at this location is an absolutely miserable human being. My wife and I approached her a few times in the store with questions and each time she was terrible. When my wife asked about hypoallergenic shampoos for our dog, she told us to just get a new dog. Then at checkout she refused to match the price for the same item on the Petco website.
