Don't book online I booked an appt for my dog to get groomed online it showed openings and times I booked it then I showed up doors were open.....NOONE ATTENDED ME FOR 30 minutes until I had to walk out and ask one of the workers where she the groomer and they said " oh it's closed today" really? WTF why are they having open bookings online with times ?! I wish I could give 0 stars for the grooming department. Although I am sure they try their best, the results have been unsatisfactory every time I have visited this location. Quite honestly, results have gotten worse. I had a horrible experience prior to this last visit and they offered a feee groom. When I came back a couple months later, they told me I had never been to the location. After explaining the situation multiple times and asking for a manager, they discovered I had two profiles. Why would I lie about visiting such a horrible place? This last groom, I had my boyfriend drop off my dog. He mentioned her nails were long and they needed to be trimmed (which are always included in the full groom). They charged me extra for a "nail buff" that we never asked for. In the 2 and a half years I've been at Petco I've never added a service. Rather than argue I just paid and went to grab my pup. She looks absolutely miserable. She came in super fluffy and I asked that she get a teddy bear face with a slight trim. It looks as though they completely shaved her snout and cut her with scissors. Looks like she has a mullet. The store redesign is horrible. Over half the story is dedicated to dogs and all other pets are an after thought. The new cat "section" is tiny, all the isles are narrow and hard to navigate and the multiple times I have been there the cat section has been filled with stock carts of food and other supplies so it's impossible to get at the cat food and other items. It feels like the cat section is also in the stock room. As a cat owner it is offensive. Cats can live up to 20 years, yet Petco does not think they are worthy pets to have a real section in the store. I am expected to climb over stock carts to get them food and supplies. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Hopefully to a company that respects all pets not just dogs. read more

This store will never change and I mean that in a bad way. Let's start with the good. This location is in the same shopping center as a Target, Kohl's, World Market, and other common stores. The parking lot is huge and easy to access. The inside of the store is clean and well organized. I usually found the items that I needed were well stocked. On my most recent visit I was able to find water and food dishes for my cat that are dishwasher safe. Most stores carry hand wash only so this is huge for me. For some time I would come here on my lunch break because the location was convenient for me. The thing that ended my trips were the long check out lines. Either there was a long line or there would be an issue that would make the line take too long. Consistently, there was only one cashier. This past weekend I decided to forgive and forget and run in since I was in the shopping center running other errands. Big mistake, nothing has changed. Even in the middle of the day on a Saturday there was one cashier. Eventually, a second was called, but neither line was going anywhere. The consistently long check out times will keep me away for good. read more

This was a quick stop to search for some cat beds and we ended up walking through the entire store looking at all kinds of different things. The staff was constantly attempting to help us but we did not require assistance. I was watching a dog getting groomed at the time and the dog seemed to really enjoy it. Liking this store more and more. All of the staff is super nice and always make a fuss over our pooch. We just started dog training classes with Tim, so far they're great. The store seems tidier. Having the Petco rewards card has its benefits too, I'm always getting coupons on my receipts or in my emails. The only bummer is they no longer carry the big bag of the dog food we feed our puppy, so we have to go elsewhere to get it. Otherwise this has become our go to pet store. read more

I'm really finding it hard to believe that this location "Just sold" their last bag all four times I've come in there. I was out of town and my roommate brought my dog here for a wash and only trim around eyes and paws. I've had a bad experience here before but thought it would be ok since it wasn't a full cut just a trim. I mean how bad can you mess up? I am very unsatisfied with my dog's grooming. He came home looking like they didn't even brush his head or ears. And his cut makes him look like his head is way smaller than his body:/ ( although I specifically said no cut .. only trim around eyes ) he also smelled like really strong old cologne. Third time is a strike out! I don't care how close this place is to my house or how convenient. I'm sorry but they need to have the groomers practice more on haircutting. Not to mention the second time I took him they cut too close to the skin and left a little cut on my dog's belly. -__- read more

By far one of my most favorite Petco location ever. Every single one of the staff is friendly and super helpful. I normally come to this location to get my crickets and occasionally get some waxworms for my lizards after work they always have what I'm looking for. The aquatic section is pretty nice too and the staff members are always helpful with any questions I may have about a particular fish. read more

NEVER ANY CARTS! It's so bad that the staff are using the neighboring store Big Lots carts to do their stocking inside the store. If you're buying pet food or cat littler be prepared to carry your 25 - 50lb bags from the back of the store to the cashier and then to your car. If you ask for help they roll their eyes and keep you waiting so you eventually give up and muscle it out yourself. As a woman with limited upper body strength this is ridiculous. For months I've asked them if there any carts and I'm told "the homeless stole them". Wonder if Big Lots has the same problem but tells their customers "Petco" stole them!! read more

5 stars for CHERYL! I called ahead tonight to see if this location carried a certain calming collar as I am flying across the country tomorrow. Cheryl answered and was SO helpful! She checked and it was in stock and she recommended a few other things which I was so thankful she did and she set aside for me. I arrived and it seemed as though she was the only one working. I waited in line and finally when it was my turn I saw my items set aside. I said that those were mine and she knew right away! She knew I was flying however so she showed me some chewables instead that she recommended over the collar. I went along with her recommendation and am hoping for a smooth flight tomorrow! Cheryl is an asset to Petco. Working in customer service, it's hard to find genuine warm employees these days who provide that level of service.. I'm lucky to have been assisted by the best! This review is for my grooming experience and Leslie is an absolute dream! My dog looks amazing and she did exactly what I asked for but the biggest miracle is that she gave my dog the BEST nail trim ever. I still can't believe how short and even and smooth she got his nails. Quick visit to find one of those things with fake grass that dogs can pee on. MMhhmmm, cause every dog needs their own patch of fake grass! Upon first look we saw no fake grass. Asked a sales associate and she also came up empty handed. She got her manager who is magical and she found us the fake grass tray pee thing. I used to take my dog in for grooming here all of the time, but I've literally called 8 times in a row to try and book an appt. with no answer and will never book online because it's never accurate. The girls there have done a great job in the past, but the last time I took my dog in, the guy working there (who was talking like an auctioneer and was very dismissive) literally choked my dog in from of me with their leash TWICE and I said something and he didn't seem to give a crap. He also lied and said he called me (once my call finally was answered) and lied and said he left a vm after I told them it's been 4 hours and no answer multiple times. I've gone there for years but now I can't justify paying the $83 for TERRIBLE service. Good luck getting ahold of anyone, looks like the mobile groomers got my business now. read more

Had my 2 small dogs groomed today by Leslie. She did such an amazing job with 2 scared doggies! Grinded down their nails and they smell better than they ever had before! She was calm and gentle with my furbabies and I will definitely be going back and requesting her. Pricing was reasonable at $23 (they don't raise rates on weekends like PetSmart) and $10 grinding so $33 each dog before tip. read more

Love this petco compared to other petco locations/petsmart stores. The store is super clean and I love their vast options when it comes to clean, healthy dog food/treats. Sometimes they get busy and can be understaffed when there are large rushes but I don't see why people think that means they should leave a bad review. I went into Petco (Blue Diamond Store 01153) on Sunday night and wanted to purchase an angelfish to go into my 40 gallon tank. I have 2 german blue rams, sword tail, dalmatian molly and a goldfish so figured an angel would be fine. After waiting I finally found an employee named Tyler to help get the fish for me but he said he wouldn't let me purchase the angle fish because they use Aqueon Pure Live Beneficial bacteria in their tanks and I had to buy it and use it monthly or the fish wouldn't survive. I told him I use the stress zyme when adding new fish and when doing water changes and that my tank has been up and running for over 8 months now but he said it didn't matter because it is not the same and still refused to let me get the fish. I can only assume he is just trying to upsell people on products. I left the store very disappointed. I spend a lot of time keeping my tank in great shape by staying up on the water changes and cleaning out the canister filter. I even purchased the water from the local water store instead of using tap water. Can not say if I would ever consider shopping at this particular location again due to Tyler wanting to upsell people. read more

I ran in to get some food for my dogs...first of all, there were NO CARTS...how can you get a big bag of dog food and a case of cans without a cart??? There was absolutely no one around to offer any assistance. So, I opted for a small bag to hold me over. I went up to the registers...where there were two guys; neither of which greeted me, altho, while I was the only one at the register, one indicated that he would help me, but I came in the exit! He literally wanted me to go all the way around so I was coming in the correct side...really??? ZERO customer service, and rude staff! Pick another pet supplier...there are tons out there. I sure won't be back...not to mention, they were out of stock on the brand my kids typically eat! No wonder these businesses go out of business. read more

Love this store. The staff is fantastic. We did the training with Shawna for our maltipoo, she was great to work with and helped us train our dog and learn to keep up with it. She also taught us how to work with some of his behavioral issues. She does amazing work. Leslie in the grooming department is also the best. I'm a huge fish lover, both saltwater and fresh. I've successfully kept both for years. I know how to properly care for them learning though mistakes, research and helpful guidance of other enthusiasts. A PET STORE, SELLING PETS, should know how to take care of pets already. So when I see multiple dead fish throughout their fish system in both the saltwater and fresh water tanks I know that 1) they aren't being cleaned daily, or there wouldn't be ROTTING fish stuck to the filter or floating around 2) saltwater fish that "flash" with scars on their body are usually sick with ich clownfish are some of the hardiest saltwater fish and to see them in the shape they were was sad. The Niger trigger they had was in terrible shape as well. fish die I get that but to have rotting fish in a tank, it's been there for a LONG time. It's obvious to see the disease and infections in these fish, they should be ashamed and the fish department drained and shut down until they can properly train staff to care for these pets, unknowing customers could contaminate or infect their entire tank because of these untrained employees. read more

Made an appointment this past Sunday at 8:30am for my dog to get groomed. We knocked on the door for about 10 minutes, a lady finally came (who obviously looked like she hates her job). We were told the guy who does the pet grooming will not arrive for another hour or so. Would of been nice if someone picked up the phone to let us know. We are very disappointed with the customer service and the communication at Petco. We will not be returning to Petco for any of our pet needs. read more

So I inherited my friend's goldfish due to his moving out of state. He had him in a fish bowl that looks like a really big cognac glass. But I read that a larger tank is healthier for the fish and easier to maintain. So off I went to the big pet stores. Comparing Petco and Petsmart, I think the former has a nicer layout. I like how the aquariums are at the store center and everything radiates out from that. Unfortunately, this doesn't necessarily translate into an easier shopping experience (for me anyway). Petsmart's more pedestrian aisles are easier to navigate and find things. Also, Petsmart seems to have a better selection. I ended up buying some items at Petsmart, but I liked a couple of aquarium decorations that were available at Petco. In any case, Petco works for me. It has all of your basic pet needs and it's on the way home for me. I've even seen dog training occur in the store. read more

Used to shop here weekly when they first opened but due to all the growth & moving across town I haven't shopped here in years...recently I visited this store twice, before & after Halloween. While I live closer to this location I think I'll drive the extra mileage and go to the GVR location in Anthem. This Blue Diamond store never has what I need. When I've asked twice for a stock check on dog food they carry & have tagged on the shelf, don't question me if I know what I need and if I'm sure I purchased it at Petco. That's just rude & condescending. If you have a dog food guarantee don't question me if I know how to switch food and proceed to tell me something I ALREADY KNOW!! When the $14 8lb bag of Science Diet Senior for 11+ years food gives all 2 of my 3 dogs the trots for 5 days straight & there's not much left in the bag, and I drop $400 in vet bills to cure it...unless you're reimbursing me for the vet bill, I'm not interested in anything coming out of your 19 year old "manager" mouth. Obviously there is a problem with this food...just give me the $14 & we'll be even. Needless to say I found the employees to be jerks. That coupled with not carrying anything and not being able to find an item or help...I'll give my time & $$ to another location in Anthem where the shelves are stocked & the employees are friendly & helpful. read more

Second time going to Petco at this location and let's say it really all depends on the employees. The first time everyone was friendly, trying to help us etc. Second time, we couldn't even find one person to help us with the guinea pigs, so instead I just went to the "No Kill Animal Shelter" on Decatur, Got to the cashier to ring up guinea pig food and the guy didn't even say hello after I said hello to him, He just ringed us up and done. Took my 2 dogs in for a nail trimming and grinding. The groomers were very attentive to the dogs and asked questions about both dogs. They did a great job with the nails. We will definitely be back for future services. Ferret display was awesome also. read more

The old lady Beth was knowledgeable and looked after the welfare of the budgies. She gave you all the information you need to become a responsible, educated bird owner. Caring is an amazing quality she had that is lacking in most other pet store employees. She wanted to be confident that you were a suitable owner, that you were well equipped (good size cage, supplies, toys, etc.) and educated in taking care of a budgie (proper food, treats, vitamins, taming) The pet store was not my first choice in getting a budgie...since most of these stores get their birds from bird mills. However, I couldn't find any breeders selling hand-tame budgies in the area, for the longest time. The budgies in this store are clipped, so flying away won't be too much of a problem. They aren't overcrowded, and most appear healthy. I do wish that Petco in general treats their bigger cockatiels and GCCs better. This Petco has a cockatiel named Summer, who has been stuffed in a small glass box -since May - with nothing but a food bowl and a toy. Didn't look as playful as her sign makes her out to be. She looked much much worse when I visited. Overall a decent experience if you get someone like Beth, although places like these should be your very last resort for getting a bird. read more

Petco is normally one of my favorite places to go when I've got my boxer with me. She loves to sniff every single item in the store while picking out a new treat. My husband and I stopped in to pick up some food for Miss Delilah and we couldn't find what we normally get her. There was some sort of food-expert there and walked me through the organic brands. I was VERY specific when telling her that we needed something sans-chicken and red food coloring. She sent us on our way with a new bag of food, and wouldn't you know it - we had an allergic reaction due to there being chicken meal in it. Poor Delilah is on a round of allergy meds as we speak, and we headed off to PetSmart, where they carry Simply Nourish. I'm not blaming it all on the food-expert lady. I should have only trusted my own eyes when buying food for my dog-ter. Other than that the store was just like your typical Petco. :) read more

This is our usual spot to drop off the pooch. He knows this place and loves everyone who takes care of him. It's kept very clean and doesn't smell at all like animals! Rocky is always well taken care of and they know exactly who he is. Right when we walk through the door.. Rocky's little booty and stub of a tail is shakin and bakin'... he's pulling back but moving foward. He's always not so sure if he's happy or not to be there to be bathed... but he loves running up to the employees to say hi! We usually only come here for grooming services, so this is mostly regarding the grooming salon. Our favorite lady is no longer working there... but she was the best. Rocky comes out clean, pristine, and ready to nap! It was very cool of them to tell us that he's great at cutting nails and suggested we petty paw him since they've trained him to get used to it and be still. They didn't have to tell us that but they did. The store is huge... it's categorized efficiently and they offer a LOT! Toys, food.... beds- lizards, fish! Cool store in a cool plaza. I'm not sure about the store, but I love the grooming department! My babies love love looooove Victoria (I am totes bad with names...but I'm pretty sure that's her name!). The prices are worth it.
