She even called another store to check if they had it in stock and arranged to have it delivered to her store for me to pick up. It's been an exhausting week with my little sick furball, and Candace made things so much easier for me! I really appreciated her kindness and willingness to go above and beyond. No one was around in the fish are to even help but i was concerned as a sign on one tank said not selling quaratined. Plus the tank with all the gold fish had dead fish and the other fish were eating them... Large Petco across from Arden Fair Mall and next to Kohl's and Five Below. Right when you walk in, there's a massive Christmas pickle display full of what I believed to be dog toys - it made us laugh. They also have an adoption center where I saw 3 cats available. They have hamsters, mice, Guinea pigs, birds, a plethora of fishes, snakes, Bearded Dragons and even tarantulas! Every animal enclosure you could need, every pet food you can imagine - just all of your pet needs and so much more! The place was also pretty clean and they had lots of staff running around and busting their butts from stocking items to checking out customers to helping everyone with their questions. For a big box pet store, this location is pretty nice. I've been here a few times for various items for my cats and dogs and they generally alway have hard to find stuff if I need it in a pinch, even if it's a little pricier than, say, Amazon. I started keeping betta fish and honestly they take much better care of their bettas than any of the LFSs I checked out. My bettas are all from this store and they are lovely and healthy. The staff really try to be helpful and seem to know a good amount. Their aquatic plant selection is pretty decent, and I haven't gotten any snails from any plants I've gotten from them. They don't have some of the higher end aquarium items, but they definitely have all the basics. When I order online for pickup, my order is always ready to go when I get there. read more

I've been bringing my senior Chihuahua Dachshund mix here for grooming for years. Each groomer is wonderful and seem to truly care for the dogs. I love to shop at pet stores. Petco is one of the pet stores I shop at the most. But maybe not this one in Arden-Arcade because of the smell in the store! I am in the shopping center and finished shopping at another store. I decided to check out Petco in the same shopping center because I have extra time. I hope I will find something for my furry babies too. The minutes I walked into the front door. It already doesn't smell good. It smells like a sweaty dog or pee. The deeper into the store. The more pungent the smell! I still try to keep my focus and hope to find something for my dogs. Then I saw so many boxes, cardboard, and packing materials all over the store. I don't think I want to keep shopping there anymore. I get out without buying anything! Sorry! This is not a good shopping experience! I hope this store is not usually this way! I've been coming to this Petco for several months now, and the staff has always been kind and helpful. I originally started visiting for dog training, and I've since brought three dogs through Nick's classes. Nick has been fantastic! I had a 7-month-old dog whose previous owners left him alone a lot, causing him to pull, bark, and even chew through walls. He once ate through a wall at his previous owner's house. I was worried he might knock over me or my elderly parents. During our first session, my dog barked so much that it probably seemed scary to anyone in the store. However, Nick's calm demeanor and practical instruction made a world of difference. By the next class, my dog had stopped barking at others, and now he can even handle other dogs barking at him without reacting. I'm currently working with my dog to prepare for the Canine Good Citizen test--something I never thought would be possible. I've since recommended Nick to anyone who needs help with their dog. His training techniques are practical and effective. When you see new training sessions happening at the store, please keep in mind that many of us are bringing reactive dogs that need help. The first day of class with a reactive dog can be overwhelming, but Nick does an amazing job addressing the different needs of every dog he works with. If you come back after a few classes, you'll see a noticeable improvement. If you saw my dog today, you'd never guess he was reactive just a few months ago. read more

I used to love brining my golden doodle for trims as they offer value prices for great cuts. I've been coming here for two years with my dog and as of lately it feels like management has only gone down hill. I came in for a walk-in trim like usual, they were busy so I agreed to schedule an appointment the next day at 9am. I come in at 9am the next day and the available groomer tells me she can't trim him because she hasn't graduated yet. I'm left to wait another week because I'm busy on the weekdays. Rudeness was exchanged during the rescheduling process; both me and the new groomer were visibly upset. I feel that this is a management problem that should be addressed ASAP. Communication between shifts should be improved. Aside from this, I love their grooming expertise as it's fast and convenient for me. This employee was chatting with a customer about the taste of the realistic dog cookies in the case in the front holding up the line. I have been going here for the past year to get my dog washed and get his hair cut but it wasn't till this last cut that I was really SO happy with it. Kinga M. Was my dog's groomer and she took such great care of him. She was thorough in explaining the difference in just a nail trip and getting them buffed, and gave him the best haircut. Every time I look at him I think of how pleased I am with the way his haircut turned out. I came here a year ago and I said I was not gonna come here again, but I decided to stop here today and give it another try but after today I will stick to my other store location on Watt and Arden! The most annoying thing about the store is that there is never any cards for the customers to use! The employees take every single cart in the store and use them to move around the items in the store that need to go on the shelves! When I come to Petco, I'm shopping for my four dogs so I always spend over $200 with a bunch of stuff food treats, bedding toys it is impossible to carry everything I need in my two arms. On top of this the store is a mess. Everything is so unorganized and just crap everywhere with carts all over the store with boxes in them and it's just terrible. I came today and there was a lot of more things I needed, but I just grabbed one bag of dog food and I left now I'm driving to the other location where they always have carts available so I can grab the other 20 things I needed to get! This is the most frustrating thing. This is why I stopped coming here in the first place because there was no carts available last time and it looks like nothing has changed!! We tried to get clarity on an issue/note put into their computer by a new employee to that location... the manager did call back, but was extremely rude, hostile and unprofessional from the second the call started. We went into this Petco yesterday to purchase some female guppies and the associate was so rude and condescending. We had to go looking for help and the first thing he did was ask questions about our complete setup (40 gal tank with 2 goldfish and 10 small guppies). When I told him I was getting the fish for my husband while he looked for other stuff to buy, he said "I'll speak to him about it then." Then he turned his back to me to speak to my husband who had just walked up.....the tank also belongs to me but the associate didn't seem to care that I also take care of our fish. He just gave us the third degree like we were going to immediately dump these guppies into the trash as we left....like I've seen videos of petco doing with its live inventory...anyways, after we explained our ENTIRE setup for 10 minutes before he would do anything, I asked if he was going to sell us the fish, and he said condescendingly "I'll go ahead and sell them to you this time." What? Where in the petco policy does it say that this guy gets to make the rules on who treats fish the best and gets to buy one? he was shaming us for having 2 midsized goldfish in our tank because they would eat the hypothetical guppy babies (that guppies themselves also eat BTW)...meanwhile there was a tank FILLED with feeder goldfish for sale and every tank in that place was over crowded. Make it make sense. What made us leave was when he wouldn't sell us the SINGLE molly in a tank "because they are a schooling fish and need more than one of them to feel safe." He really said that we couldn't have it because it needed friends of its own species when it was BY ITSELF in the tank with guppies...the same setup we would have. We left and went down the street to PETSMART to get the same exact fish without the 10 minute inquisition and shaming session. I understand that petco wants to ensure the safety of their fish but this WAS NOT THE PERSON TO DO IT. I was double-charged for a dog grooming brush. The employee didn't put the item on my PALS rewards so I had to "return" and repurchase the item and get credit for the return. I noticed the 2 repeat transactions on my bank statement with no credit. I called a manager and was told to come in and bring my receipt to sort it out. I drove back there--over 20 miles away. The manager (Katrine) conveniently took her lunch break when I arrived. I drove all the way back for another employee to tell me that it takes 3-4 days to get the refund. It's not my first choice, but it's convenient. I was also able to find a dog food my dog likes as her food is no longer being made and sold everywhere. There is a good selection on minty treats and other good chew treats. I really like the hedgehogs. I think there so adorable, but they are a little large so we settle for the alligators. They are good for 2 sittings. It's nice that they sell some treats individually as I only want a single treat at times. They have an adorable parakeet display. I love watching them. They all have friends and seem like they are having a good time. To them life couldn't get better. The small dog collar selection is lacking. In addition I didn't see those tags you etch and that tack onto the collar so they don't jingle. Bathroom hygiene is lacking and makes this store 1 star. Sorry store, but you have to clean your restrooms on a more regular basis. I can tell they aren't cleaned often by the amount of ants that collected on a dropped lollypop stick. That was a big gross factor. Next there was drops of blood on the floor. Lastly they were totally out of toilet paper. The awesome thing about buying food here is if it doesn't work out for your pet then you can bring the food back for a refund or exchange, it has to be at least half full to do so. Skipped services, vet visits and poor scheduling. The first time I took my dog here they cut the inside of his leg and he had to go to the vet to get stitches and antibiotics. Poor thing had a cone for 2 weeks. I took him back again when he healed and asked for a different groomer. They knew it was "technically" our first time actually getting anything done so they did a really good job! I was impressed and he was in and out within an hour. He got a blueberry facial with his bath and they groomed him and brushed his teeth and all that. This last time was TERRIBLE. We scheduled it ahead of time and got there a few minutes early. About 2 hours later we called to see if he was done and they said they hadn't even started on him yet! They said it was because they had a lot of dogs today. That's no excuse, why would they schedule more than one dog for a specific time slot? After another hour I called again and they had just finally started. When I finally got to pick him up it had been 4 hours. His groom was so bad, even i could have done a better job and they didn't even clean his face or brush his teeth. I paid for the same exact service as last time including the blueberry facial. They skipped his paws and his nail trim too. Will never go back. read more

Even the next day, I am pretty irritated writing this review. I went to this Petco, which is out of the way, specifically to visit another store to see their fish. It was time to pick up my dog's heartworm medicine and since my older dog is working on weight loss we are picking up monthly to make sure she is getting the right dose. We got there early looked at the fish a bit. The fish and the aquatic plant selection is nicer than my regular store. We went to check for our appointment for Vetco around 4p. That was right around the time a training class was starting. My older pup has completed all the training classes and my youngest is on her second class. The store became very chaotic when the class started. It sounded as if there was a dog fight in the store. When we do our and our previous classes it has never sounded like that. My dogs both became uncomfortable at this point. I even took a video with audio of my dogs reaction. It was clear that trainer had no control over that class and it did not seem like they were trying to get a hold of it either. At no point did I hear any offer of advice or instructions on how to calm the dogs down. The dogs came out to walk the store and were crazy, one even lunged at my dog, trainer wasn't observing the dogs behavior as they exited the class of course. After we were seen by the vet and waiting on some test results we went back to purchase some plants and a fish. The woman working in the fish department was helping someone else in the reptile department so we waited there over ten minutes. The entire time we waited the class of larger dogs paced, especially one paced back and forth in front of my dogs. My older dog is a sweetheart but my 7 month old (both small pugs) has anxiety around other dogs. She was scared, she was barking and had to be picked up every time they walked by. Finally, the woman in the class (same one who's dog lunged at mine) told me that they were using my dogs as a distraction. Are you freaking kidding me? Whether or not this was the trainers idea or not I blame the trainer. If it was his idea, shame on him for not seeing the distress this was causing my dog and not asking me first. If he was unaware, shame on you for not being aware of what your class is doing. We stood in aquatics for over ten minutes while this happened, why were you not aware of what your class was doing? My trainer never leaves us alone for more than a few minutes so she give us pointers and check on our progress. As soon as the woman told me they were using my dogs as a distraction I left without the fish I wanted and the plants my store never has in stock and went back to get my test results and headed to the cashier. I briefly told the cashier of the incident and he did not seem very empathetic of my situation. I will not be returning to this location ever again for any reason. What an absolutely horrible experience all around. This is a freaking pet store with a bunch of people who seem to not know wtf they are doing or even like pets. The only person who worked for the store that seemed to know anything and was kind was the woman in aquatics. Other than that the staff at this store are trash. read more

I usually go to the IKEA location because it's close to my house, but this location is always my next go-to! Rhett loves his baths here! We always do the pick three special. It's a great price for all the things we should be up keeping and maintaining on our pets (although the blueberry facial is just a bonus!) They clean his ears, brush his teeth, brush him for 15 minutes, and they have a whitening shampoo for his coat. The customer service is always great to! I've noticed they've been booking up weeks in advance though, so procrastinators like me can't get a walk-in anymore, but if they don't have anything available, they're usually happy to call other locations that might be able to get Rhett in.
