Came by here this afternoon with my husband since we were already in this plaza shopping at Target and grabbing a cup of coffee over at Klatch Coffee (There is plenty of parking in the plaza this Petco is located in). Since it is shortly after the holidays, currently all of the Christmas items are 50% off the original price. Also we found out that all of the freshwater fish are 75% off, The guy at the register told us that there is nothing wrong with the fish (they are not sick or anything like that) but that they have to reconstruct the aquatic section, thus needing to get rid of them by January 1st. Honestly that's an excellent price deal, but we upgraded to dogs (3 dogs to be exact) several years ago. The only 2 employees we interacted with in the store were pretty friendly. Pricing at Petco is pretty comparable to Petsmart (although sometimes Petsmart is cheaper and vice versa). Overall, will probably stop by here again if we are in the area and need to get something for our dogs. read more

This review is mainly dedicated to the grooming center and the wonderful and sweet Ellen! After having an extremely horrible experience with a prior groomer I had taken my pet two twice before(they were rude and held my dog in small cages for 3+hours). I checked out reviews for this Petco and was impressed. So I visited to get my dog some treats and as I was checking out at the register, Ellen happened to pass by and my dog took a liking to her! She said hi to him and gave him a few friendly pats and after that, I knew I wanted to bring him here! My first visit was today after making an appointment which was extremely easy and a friendly experience. My dog was nervous when we arrived but when Ellen greeted him he seemed to look less nervous and she was SO helpful and sweet! Because it was my first visit, she fully explained all the services offered and her opinion on what was best for my dog. When we picked him up he smelled and looked great! I left feeling as if he had made a new friend (Ellen) and that we were welcome back for our next visit! I am so happy I decided to take him here because you can tell that the groomers really care about your pet and are extremely patient. I most definitely recommend this place if you're having trouble finding a groomer you can trust leaving your loved pet with! read more

I visited the one in Montclair and San Dimas and both experiences were pleasant. They have a huge inventory, but I think Petco's strength is their staff. The folks are knowledgeable, pleasant, courteous and friendly. My puppy Luna and I are now taking classes in San Dimas. The food here is expensive unless you have a coupon or the food is on sale. Unfortunately, my finicky feline will eat only Neutro Max which is only sold at pet stores. The do have a frequent buyer program, but my cat doesn't eat enough to ever earn that one free bag a year. The store is clean and well organized. There was one time where my bf found a bird that had escaped from a cage walking around the store. It's not too bad of a place to shop, just pricey. read more

I just want to say thank you very much, I am not from the area and I came in for a last minute run to buy a dog kennel, at first I was struggling for a bit because the kennel that I was looking for was at the very top, but the person who was in charge at that moment came as soon as I reached for help, very friendly and the cashier was very friendly too. This review is for Anna, My Dog Trainer. My dog Star, a pitbull mix and I have been attending private lessons for about a year. I reached out for help because after being attacked several times by small dogs in my complex, she had become extremely aggressive towards dogs and even had turned on her dog brother Luke a couple of times. Anna has made all the difference in the world . She helped me learn how I needed to act in certain situations, so that i could diffuse the aggression. Slowly Star has responded. We now have routines we go through when Star starts to have problems. Also Star has learned several tricks like Bang (you are dead,) down, High Five, bye bye, Bow among others behaviors. Anna has been a godsend. If you are having problems with your dog, I highly recommend Anna as a dog behaviorist.. I tell everyone that we go to therapy every week. Love you Anna read more

Made a call to see if I could pay in advance for my pet grooming. ( I am having someone drop her off n picking her up) the nice grooming lady couldn't figure out how to put me on hold so I heard everything (lol) they called a girl name SARAH let's hope that's how it's spelled. They ask what I had just ask and she kept on saying NOPE NOPE NOPE. they figure I was still on the phone and she pick up and ask what was my question again and Sarah just said Nop.. I figure they can just put my card info automatically over the phone. And fail to give me an explain on why. This 1 star review is for their customer service, not the store in general. Yesterday early afternoon I walked in to get a vitamin supplement for my dog that I always get at Petco. The shelf was empty except for 1 lonely bag of vitamins for puppies. I walked to the front of the store where a couple of employees were talking in front of a seasonal display. I asked about the vitamins and the young gentleman said "what we have in the store is all we have, we did not get a shipment this week". I went home (10 min away), got online and ordered one bag of vitamins. With my surprise it was ready for pick up a few minutes later. So with these gas prices I had to again drive back to the store for something that was completely avoidable had the staff done their job keeping the shelves filled, or at least double check the back when a customer asks. When I walked up to pay she just looked at me, and after she rang me up, she just handed me the receipt and walked away, like wtf?!? I brought my puppy to this store for the free puppy playtime. The trainer we worked with (Maggie) was very informative. She provided me with the tools I needed to take my puppy to the dog park with confidence. A couple of things to note about the puppy playtime: 1. This is a FREE service to puppies that are under the age of 6 months 2. You will have to fill out a short form and bring your proof of vaccines every time you attend the playtime 3. The trainers make an effort to match pups with similar personalities in the play pen. If there aren't many puppies at the playtime or, the personalities are conflicting, it is possible that your puppy will not be able to participate in the entire play time. In some cases, you may only get in 5 minutes because the dogs aren't a good match for each other. If you go in to the puppy play time knowing these three things, the experience should be positive for your and your fur baby. Regarding the employees at this location, I can't say that they were particularly enthusiastic or helpful. But, I felt that Maggie was a very good trainer and a lovely person to work with. read more

There were approx 6 decapitated gold fish..... another in a different tank and 1 albino rainbow shark , so sad.... someone needs to do something about that. The grooming team's service has declined in recent years. They look for any excuse to deny service even to established customers who have been loyal for years. He have had a couple appts cancelled prior or when we brought the One particular groomer had never liked our dogs and luckily for us she never worked on them. However this groomer is now a manager and has a say of who gets serviced or not. They don't seem to be fans of dogs that are over 20lbs. It's really a shame because the store as a whole has great employees but we won't be returning. Seems odd to employ someone who hates dogs. read more

We bring our two dogs here once a month for grooming. Bailey usually takes care of the dogs and she is super nice and always does a great job. I think our dogs are used to her because they never fight about getting dropped off here. You can tell Bailey and the others really like dogs and they are all very friendly. We also buy our dog food here (Canidae) and the store is always nice and clean. read more

I like the products offered here at Petco. However, I'm really disappointed with the Grooming Department. I was hoping to switch to Petco and made a first time appointment for my pug. I made sure to read the fine print and came prepared with the needed paperwork. When I arrived, they were not ready. We waited about 15 minutes for our groomer to be ready. As Barbra was helping us check in she kept yelling at the dog in the back to quiet down. She definitely didn't come off as a dog person. You'd think she'd be more kind and sympathetic to the poor dog in the back. Barbra asked if there was anything she should know. I mentioned that my dog was taking prescribed ear medication and Barbra refused to take my dog for his bath. When I asked why she said that if they (the employees) have cuts they can spread germs... this made no sense to me and if she did had an open wound she should not be working. There was no apology for the inconvenience or for wasting my time. She didn't even try to reschedule us for a later time. All I can say is that we will not be returning to the Petco Grooming Department. read more

Grooming service is RUDE. Called them over the phone and while asking a question, immediately interrupted and did not let me finish. On top of that, I was looking for one of the harnesses for my dog that I had a coupon for from their puppy coupon book and I asked a representative and she had no idea of the brand.. Did not offer or make an attempt to help me look around to where it may be. Took literally 2-3 steps from where she was and found what I was looking for. I found this to be a better-than-average Petco. The items were properly organized, the shelves, well-stocked, and the check-out situation was handled very quickly. Not at all like the Petco in my neighborhood in West L.A. I always have to wait 5-10 minutes even if there are only a couple people in the store. Admittedly, that one is a small one. This Petco is much larger, a normal size, I think. I didn't walk through the entire facility since I just needed doggy poop bags and food, but I found what I needed, the items were mostly on sale for some sort of early December pet-store throwdown (I was in another, different, pet store a few days prior that was having a similarly large sale), and I was in and out in 5 minutes. Parking is ample as it is across the lot from Target, so most of the cars gravitate in that direction. read more

Convenient location if I am running errands at this Target, Trader JOe's, or the health food stor (or getting a wine flight). My cat has to eat a pricey Innova brand dry food, and that is not available in the regular super markets. They often have sales on this food, so that makes me happy. If you are looking for generic, simple things, then you are better off finding deals at other places like target or the regular grocery stores. Last time I went in, they started this annoying greeting thing. The working cashier has to greet EVERY single person that walks in. I don't need to be greeted when I just want to get my damn cat food. and its annoying for the person they are ringing up at that moment for them to be constantly yelling out a greeting and directing their attention elsewhere. read more

I'm lucky enough I live in an area where I'm close to both Petco and PetSmart. Otherwise, I'd probably get stuck in going to Petco for all of my lil doggie's needs because it's closer...I only go there when I need something in a hurry or if there is something specific they only sell there. This Petco feels cramped. It is always pretty messy/dirty looking. The majority of the employees are fairly unhelpful and rude. In the grooming salon, I must give props to Sarah. She was nice and really took an interest in how I wanted my dog's hair cut. After his first initial visit, however, my doggie's haircuts became uneven, looked rushed, and choppy. Eventually, I stopped taking him there. It didn't help when I realized how terrified he was going into Petco, but now at his new grooming place, he's nowhere near as nervous when we take him in. In the store, I've encountered more than one rude employee -- from a day where they had a special pets event (holiday pet photography) to just happening to rush in the store near closing (but not closed). Most of the employees do not look or act like they care to be there. I have, however, come upon a couple who were extra nice and helpful -- complete opposite from their coworkers. I wish I had their names so I can compliment them on here. I don't remember seeing them more than once. I think this Petco has a high employee turnover rate. Petco and PetSmart do have different items available on their shelves, but Petco is usually pricier. If you have a choice, I would go to the PetSmart in Glendora instead of this Petco. PetSmart has better groomers that take their time, friendly employees all around and more available if you need help/advice and is generally much bigger and cleaner. They even remember and greet my dog by name when he enters the store! haha :) read more

It wasn't too busy so she was able to help me find a well fitted harness and she used this cute stuffed doggy as an example to buy the harness most comfortable for my dog. Ok so since my last review of this place, I must say things have really improved! I walked into this same store, figuring maybe things might have improved since my last visit and I'm glad I did, I was greeted by a tall dark haired employee of which I cant recall his name, it either started with a J or an M but he greeted me and offered up his help, he located the biggest bag of dog food I was looking for and carried to the check stand, rang me up and then carried it to my car, doesn't get any better than that!! read more

It's never good when the smell of animal funk hits you in the face when the sliding doors open. Enough said. Dirty store. Rat funk. It is sort of like when you are a kid and watch cartoons with the wavy green odor lines...I was getting weak in the knees. Needs a Hazmat clean up team. This is the only petco I can go to and receive top notch service and genuine customer support. Rene is always very helpful and attentive. Tim gives excellent fish advice and will go the extra mile and order quality fish stock. Alicia is a speedy cashier and makes everyones dogs feel special (ugly ones too) just keeping it real. Ria in grooming has a great memory of her customers and does very good work grooming dogs. Can't say enough good things about the crew there! read more

Came here to get my baby kitty some num nums, Petco has some pretty decent sales every now and then; this tie around I bought Furminator for kitty and food. I can't tell you what a godsend the Furminator is because she isn't shedding as much and thank you Petco for making it $10 cheaper. My mom is a usual customer and she has never had problems with their stock or service. I usually have a good time because I go straight to the kitty adoption booth to see who needs a home. read more

Just went there today and met a new groomer there named Barbara! I called to make a appointment and she took me in same day for a full groom and spa package. I can tell she was very gentle and sweet with my dog Scarlett (who is terrified of baths and dryers) normally the groomers take up to 5 hours to groom my dog and Barbara completed everything in 2 hours! She did such a amazing job and talked to me about services and products I was interested in. She listened to my concerns and was very accommodating! I will admit that Petco is not as clean as Petsmart and that they look more outdated and they don't carry cute Martha Stewart toys...but the food selection at Petco is so much better as is their selection of dog tags. And Petco is usually cheaper. My dog is a premium foods kind of dog that, per the vet, should be on grain free. Petco has an amazing selection and even carries Nature's Variety Raw Boost which can be difficult to find. Most of our dog food will be purchased at Friends Fur Ever in Walnut from now on but if the store is closed or we need something quick, Petco is my stop for food. read more

The store has everything and is organized but today, I came in the store with a good attitude and high spirits unnoticed! All I wanted was batteries for my pet safe anti barking collar for my dog. I stood in front of the stand that was locked for 5 minutes, there were 2 customers and I think 5 or 6 staff members in the store, some just chatting. I felt purposely ignored, maybe because I'm "colored" I did make some noise for them to notice my presence and even flagged down someone but that person did some head turning avoiding to look my way. 20 minutes of a wait and no one dared to offer help. I decided to approach the cashier and showed what I was about to post on fb. I posted on Yelp instead so that not only my friends could read it but the entire world!! The cashier helped helped me and tried to apologize by giving me a coupon but I refused yo take it and told them it was mg last time to do business with them. I played it cool though. "SAD!!" And I even drove all the way from Glendora coz I thought I would get an excellent service like last time, I bought the battery anyway. But guys, if you want to be treated professionally and with respect, Like all customers should be, go to "Pet Smart" at Glendora they're friendlier and helpful. read more

At least they called to cancel (same day) but better than others have experienced here- very disappointed! My fur baby gets groomed every 8 weeks and I've never had an appointment cancelled, unfortunately I will not bother with this place again. read more

I recently adopted 2 dogs (one shelter dog/ one from a rescue). When I picked up the shelter dog he was dirty and infested with fleas. I contacted Petco and I was able to get in both dogs for full grooming that afternoon. I was super happy as petsmart would not give me an appointment till the following week. Groomers did a fantastic job and he looked like a whole new dog. I've taken my dogs back since then, the groomers do a great job and have allowed me to take in my dogs on short notice. I also buy most of their food there. They have a really good selection of wellness food. My dogs prefer canned food and their selection is better than most I've seen, even better than other Petco's. read more

My sister just left this store about 15 minutes ago. She went in to buy a fish for a science project to observe what fish do then keep as a pet. This is the second time someone has denied us the purchase of a pet at this store. I don't know what their problem is with their customers but they have just lost 3 customers for life. I usually go the OTHER Big Box pet store in Glendora, needed food for the dogs, it was late and I didn't want to make the extra drive, GLAD we came here instead. Bought what I thought was small step down from our regular Blue Buffalo to save a few bucks. The dog was waking me up a couple times a night to go outside, eating far more than usual and drinking a ton more water. the only change we made was the food. I decided to return it a couple days later, I NEED MY SLEEP, not knowing if they would take it back, pro-rate the amount based on weight or how they would handle it. They said no problem get what you want and we will do the exchange, I got FULL CREDIT BACK towards the Blue Buffalo. The Blue Buffalo went on sale since we bought the Nutro, we only spent 1.57 to get a much better food. I am now back to sleeping without interruption and he is eating less because the new food has more protein and less fillers. read more
