Grooming services are somewhat expensive. Make sure you make an appointment at least a week in advance. It's uncommon to get an appointment in the day of or week of, especially on weekends. For my chihuahua dachshund mix, a full service groom is $67 (includes shampoo/bath, haircut, nail trim, ear cleaning, and a spritz). I had to come back over four hours later to pick up my dog though, because they had so many dogs to take care of, even though I had made a 10AM appointment. All the employees are very helpful! This store is huge and has a large selection of basically everything. This is definitely my go-to place--I buy 99.9% of all my cat related needs from this store. They have a large selection of food, ranging from low to high end--Friskies, Eukaneuba, Royal Canin and Science Diet to name a few. When I decided to change up my cats' diets, I was a bit overwhelmed with the choices and did my own research for what I thought would be best since there were no employees in sight?? Petco is a RIP. They charge twice the amount of what their products should really cost. Affordable? No way. I'm pretty inexperienced with dog care... I just started taking care of a pom mix we found on the street, but their prices are ridiculous! I bought five items (stain and odor remover, slicker brush, loofa toy, housebreaking spray, puppy pads) and everything turned out to be $45 bucks! I compared the prices to Target, and the deodorizer at Petco was $11.99 while the one at Target was $5.24. Don't get puppy pads there either. Apparently, their Petco brand puppy pads were on sale (7 pads for $5.07, originally $5.99) but 10 pads were $3.99 at Target, the Arm & Hammer brand. Insane. From the looks of the other reviews, I don't think I'm taking my baby to get groomed here either. =/ read more

Just got a new kitten for Christmas and came in to Petco. Was greeted by the person at the register. I was then approached by a young lady named Jenn. I let her know I got a kitten for Christmas and she got me booklet with different coupons and information. Jenn walked with me through the store and helped me get all the stuff I needed for my new kitten. Jenn let me know about the vaccination clinic they have every weekend. What a great experience I had and all the staff there was super helpful. This will definitely be my go to store for all my pet needs. Love all the great coupons that Petco has to offer as of late! Recently, I was able to snag a free 6lb bag of Purina ProPlan dry dog food (retail $14.99) for my rescue dog, Yuko, and a can of Friskies for my cat, Lulu! Every now and then Petco posts up coupons on their website and all you need to do is print it out and bring it into the store with your petco card. They even gave out a $10 off coupon recently for the same bag of dog food and I was able to grab that one for just $2 because it was on sale for $11.99. Score! Pet food can get really expensive so I was more than happy to have found these coupons. They also take manufacturers coupons and coupons from PetSmart which makes for some awesome deals when combined together and with sales! Service here is very friendly and helpful. I just got a membership here in January, so when I forgot my card at home, the staff here happily helped me out as my number was not inputted into the system just yet (they say it takes about a month). I haven't tried any of the other services here like grooming and such, but shopping here has always been a pleasant experience for me so far! I was pleasantly surprised by this Petco. First off, I am a Petsmart/Pet Food Express shopper and had always heard things about Petco's low quality. However, I was bringing my dog back from the vet and felt like rewarding her. This Petco was on the way home so we stopped by. This was my second visit to this Petco and I encountered friendly workers just as before. I was really surprised that they carry some of the better quality food brands (Blue Buffalo, AvoDerm, and others that I recognized but don't remember right now). I was shopping for toys and noticed that their prices a bit high and that their selection of basic food dispenser toys (great for doggy boredom) is practically non-existent (only had a couple by Kong and 1 other I didn't recognize). *awful grooming service* Took my year and a half old puppy to petco for a grooming. I have been going for years-- the employees are extremely rude however the haircuts were good. They're never friendly when we walk in and don't pay much attention to customers. This particular time we picked him up and he came out very depressed which was already a red flag because my dog is always happy. When we got home I noticed he was licking himself excessively, come to notice there is a huge cute on his tummy. The employees neglected to mention anything. As they are certified groomers I would have expected to be notified as I was completely unaware of the cut and was handling him from the tummy. The cut is one inch wide and three inches long. This is one of my favorite places to go to buy dog food and dog toys! Initially I came here to return a harness that a worker suggest my little brother.. It was a pain to out on and I couldn't believe someone suggested that! I came in to return it and it wasn't a problem. They have a lot of workers that tell you difference things but I feel like you just have I ask the right one. They have the best and cutest dog toys though they are a little pricy.. They have a lot of options. I especially like their vegetable and smart puzzle dog toys for dogs. And their harness and leash sections gots for two rows. I bought the best adjustable harness here.. It's really durable. They also have a good amount of food containers. A lol of other pet shops only have a few. They have cute reflective vests and a great bar too! One of the best thing about this place is the amount of inventory they have and their leniency on returns. If you're not happy with a product they'll take it back. They also have a 5% reared a program when you spend 100 ! A lot of other places also don't have this. And taken that a big bag of dog food is already around 70$ it can be beneficial in the long run. read more

Came here this afternoon to get some top swimmers for my 55 gallon. I had already been to King Aquarium on story and I didn't find what I was looking for. I said ah what the heck I'll try Petco. I get in the and as j was walking by I stopped to check out the mice and rats and stuff. They all seemed in good health and were super cute =^.^= but my goal today was fish so I moseyed back to the store. I checked out every single tank and I saw hardly any dead fish. You gotta understand that fish get shipped and that can take a toll on them so its understandable to see a couple. And I had just come from King where there were a couple tanks with visible ich and lots of dead fish. Plus the tanks at Petco are not as crowded. All petcos fish seemed healthy I didn't see any diseased fishes. I looked around till I found some giant gold danios for 2.49, not bad! I got helped in a few minutes by a Hispanic guy with tattoos. I didn't catch his name, but he was very nice and helpful. He was gentle when netting out the fish. When I got up from and tried entering my phone number for the petperks card I couldn't remember which one I had used. The girl didn't get irritated she just helped and looked up my name and boom there it was. She figured out there was no number attached so she fixed that for me too. In my opinion you can't judge each store just because it is called Petco. Go in and see for yourself. I'm sure locations vary a lot with the quality of their animals but I thought this one was in good shape with nice people. I had to take off one star because I HATE driving Tully road. Hate hate hate it. Its always crowded and a stressful drive. And because they dont have a large assortment of live fish. They had empty tanks so maybe they're remodeling. There was one lady doing paperwork, an assistant and a doctor. I only take one star off for there being a lack of staff but other than that, I was very satisfied with how smooth the clinic was ran. wait in line, lady fills out the paper work and tells you what your puppy needs, wait in another line (much faster), see the doctor and leave. For my puppy, one shot and two oral meds costed $64 flat. No fuss or confusion, this clinic is straight to the point and it is as simple as advertised. Went back to this place. Noticed they have carts but probably a maximum of 5 carts. Stood I line outside to get it to buy 2 big bags of dog food. Ask the employee if they have any cart, and she said all carts are being used. So I go in. Big mistake. No carts. Saw 2 customers with cart. The rest are probably outside. If you plan to buy a big bag of dog food, don't come here. Or even if you plan to buy something you can't carry without a cart, don't come here. Waste of time. I don't know if the groomers are new but whoever's there now is awesome.They did my little dog was a stray that was abused and was difficult to groom but they still made him look flawless. and I heard he was a little snippy but for them to still groom him is unbelievable. you guys rock I don't care what anybody else says but if they take their dog to the grooming section maybe they'll have a better experience with Petco. I have been bringing my chorkie to Victor the grooming salon manager for some time. He always takes the absolute best care of my baby girl. She had a terrible experience at another groomer and was scared to death of returning. When I started bringing her to Victor at first she was not having it. Putting on the brakes the second she realized where we were. Can you imagine a full grown adult struggling with a 9 pound dog? Comedy ensued. But the more we went the more relaxed she became and now she even looks forward to her pampering days. He even pointed out to me she had a few hot spots I didn't realize she had. He suggested a few items including a food change and she was good as new. The service I've received has been nothing but amazing. They are quick, courteous, respectful and love what they do. This review is based on only my grooming experience. Took our Pomeranian here last year. Told the groomer to "trim" her, and they ended up chopping off all her hair and justified it by saying that it was "the summer cut" When did we ever say we wanted a "summer cut"? She looked like a chihuahua for months. Now, almost a year later, her fur isn't even growing back the same. If you go here, make sure you are VERY specific about what you want, also ask what kind of drying system they use. I heard about some Petcos that have kennel dryers that use very high heat on dogs which is very harmful for them, almost like an oven. read more

He's constantly scared and whining, he won't walk anymore without stopping and sitting down. He does this weird little jump as if his back paw is injured when there is no injury. And his haircut is TRASH. My gut instinct told me leave no tip but I'm a tipper. I should have followed my gut. Had I seen his haircut prior to paying I wouldn't have left one. I came to this location close to closing on October 16th to look for styptic powder. One of my dogs broke his nail and was bleeding pretty bad. I had trouble finding what I needed because the shelves looked pretty empty so I asked an employee for help. He searched the shelves no to avail and went in the stock room to check to no luck either. It was late and I gave up and thanked him and was almost out the door when he chased me down to give me the only one styptic powder left he found hidden behind some other things. This awesome employee to which I am grateful for is named Mario. I went to this location after calling and waiting on hold for what seemed like forever while they tried to look for what I wanted. They said they had it in stock. I went to the store, couldn't find it. I asked the only person working, the cashier. He called someone who came out to get an exact description of what I was looking for. He said, well, today we stocked the dog section, so maybe tomorrow we will stock that section. I said that I called and was told it was in stock. I hate to give a bad review.... This is for the grooming department. I never take my dogs to any groomers because I'm scare they might hurt them. Our pet can't talk so they can't tell us what's wrong. I normally groom them myself but my maltipoo is a bit tough for me because she move around that's why I decided to leave it to the professional. We took her here twice, first time was fine. She came home unhappy but we assumed she was mad at us for leaving her there for 4 hours. Second time, which is today.. ********Horrible incident that I have to share, boyfriend and I came to pick her up, we went inside but there was no one around, while a gal (the groomer) standing outside talking with a friend that looks like a visitor. She saw us waiting inside but ignored us. Then she finally came in and told us to go pay while she bring out molly (my maltipoo). Molly came out with no energy on her face, sad and depressed. The groomer went back to chatting with her friend. Who cares, I picked up molly and we decided to walk around to buy her some treats. Just minutes later my boyfriend yelled out "there's blood all over your shirt!!!" I looked down and freaked out. There was a deep cut on Molly's leg (that looks like she got poked by a sharp scissor blade). Really deep it won't stop bleeding. we walked back to the groomer and had to interrupted her convo with her friend. We questioned and she seemed like she had no idea what's going on. She said "let me take her back to invest" and brought molly to the back. we waited at the front desk, at this point I couldn't take it anymore.. Invest what?! A cut? I just want molly back. So I walked back where I saw her and another girl just discussing how to handle the situation instead of caring to see what's wrong with molly! They told me I'm not allow back there! Well I just want my dog back! ***long story short*** they obviously don't give a f**. The manager which is a young man came out and said " it might not be from the scissor that cut her" like as if I cut my own dog to cause a drama! I got angry and said "then what? We never left the building, where do u think she got the cut?" And he said " the clipper, you'll be surprise what clipper can do" wtttf?! They offered a spray to help her bleeding because it wouldn't stop bleeding. And have the need to say "don't worry about paying". Serisouly? Paying? You're lucky I didn't ask for a $65 refund or sue you!! Idiots. Bunch of young idiots running this place. Boyfriend and I aren't the type to cause a scene. And the cut was on her leg... It will heal. Heart broken, we just took her home and never again step foot in this place. People make mistakes and accident happens. I understand.. but they have no better way to handle this situation. I frequent here to buy my crickets for my bearded dragon there's only two employees who are helpful here, Santana and the guy with the gauges. The other employees here are rude and make you feel like they don't want to help. One in particular Carina or Korina brought out 5 small crickets totaling 76 cents. She then asked if I paid for them which I responded "yes" . She gave me a look of "yeah right" to which I pointed to the girl who rang me up and then I showed her my receipt. After she "inspected" it she said "ok" "I'm just making sure" I understand the importance of making sure an item is purchased but for 76 Fin cents and to investigate the receipt the way she did is slightly annoying. i'm really shocked to read such bad reviews of this petco as i have always had great experiences in my dealings with them. i go on the regular to pick up supplies for our black bitch of a cat and our little gay yorkie. the customer service people i've dealt with have always been informative and extremely helpful. i was actually just there yesterday to pick up some new tartar control bones for my dog and the salesgirl took about 10 minutes going over the merits of rawhide treats, greenies, and milkbones with me. (for anyone looking for an inexpensive alternative to greenies, peep out the nutro tartar control bones. i just bought them and my dog loves them.) as mentioned in a previous review, this location does offer a full service grooming salon. while it's a little on the pricey side compared to other places ($45 for a full service groom), they do a really great job on my dog. she loves going in and the girls that work there are always excited to see her. hopefully other pet lovers will find this petco as awesome as i do. read more

Bringing your pet to a grooming facility can be very nerve-racking at times, especially when your pet is like your child. First impressions are everything, and when I first met Jackie in the grooming area, I knew that my baby Leo (4 pound Yorkie) would be in good hands. My first visit was back in April 2017, and I recently just took him again yesterday to get groomed.
