This store seems to be a bit understaffed or whatever the case. I didn't see any associates around minus the one that was at the door talking to a couple about their dog. The store was undergoing some construction of sorts. This Petco in particular seems to be lacking in variety of products. Compared to many other Petco's I have been, there honestly doesn't seem to be an array of dog products. I was in the back a good 20 minutes looking for this harness for my dog I saw online. I finally found it and made my way to the front. There was no cashier at first but then I saw this associate talking to some kids about some dogs toy. We made eye contact and she made her way to the register. She was very friendly and the reason for my 3 stars. If it weren't for her, I probably would have given a 2. This place isn't the greatest of Petco's.. but I would still come here over it's competitor (Petsmart).. read more

I found this Petco hidden in the corner of a strip mall. I decided to pull over and pick up some bearded dragon food. I was surprise to find out that this store has very limited supplies for reptiles and amphibians compared to Petsmart. They had plenty of cat food and dog food choices along with pet toys. Their aquarium selection and tropical fish selection is also very limited compared to Petsmart. This Petco is very convenient for cat and dog owners but when it comes to reptiles and fish, you may want to look elsewhere. The store is very clean and well organized. They have pet grooming/dog spa services. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. Again, this is a very large pet store that has a lot of dog and cat supplies which is understandable but for the size of the store I expect more supplies and selection for other types of pets. If your a dog or cat owner, this Petco is perfect...other pet owners will need to lower their expectations a bit but may find what their looking for. read more

The employees here are so friendly. I called about dog training and the lady who answered was very knowledgeable. The price was reasonable as well. I instantly felt comfortable and wanted to take my dog to this location. My puppy Sierra is a 8m mini schnauzer and I wanted her to have some basic training. Niya was our trainer for the next 6 weeks, for 1 hour a week. She is very sweet, respectful, and knowledgeable. She answered all my questions and was helpful with other concerns I had. We were the only one in the class so it was a bonus I got a private for a group price. I highly recommend this Petco for all your pets needs. read more

I stopped here after my momentary horrible experience at PetSmart in Santee. At PETCO, and their vet services THRIVE, very single person I came in contact with, was, kind, personable, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, sweet to my dog. and more They helped me out of an urgent need and never once made me feel like they were inconvenienced by my presence or annoyed by my urgent need, even though I know, they all had something they needed to get done. They not only acknowledged my presence right away, but waited until they were sure I didn't need anything else. I would have to say they went out of their way to assist a customer that they had no idea, was never a customer before. I popped in with little expectations and walked away a happy new customer. read more

Usually would give five stars but today I took my dog in for a bath and clipping and they shaved her back legs and haunches left the rest of her long They didn't even blend anything in looks like crap. Usually when you do a sanitary clip they clipp the private area pretty close and blend the rest in this looks like they started to shave her and then change their mind read more

I feel so comfortable leaving her for a few hours to get a bath, her coat is always shinny and soft until we get home and she starts rolling in the grass/dirt. HaHa! I would NEVER take my dog to get groomed here!!! As I was getting cat food I noticed some cute dogs getting groomed so I went closer to the window to take a look. It was then that I noticed a young employee brushing a three legged miniature Collie with way too much force. So much force that the dogs back end kept going downward, touching the table each time she yanked the brush through its fur. The dog was beginning to have enough of this treatment and started to turn it's head and bite at her out of frustration. The groomer apparently noticed my appalled face as I was staring and watching at this point and it was not until then that she started brushing the dog correctly without all that force. I should have took a video at the way she was handling this dog as it was NOT okay in any way, shape or form. Also have seen a Petsmart employee smoking a cigarette ( Yuck) while taking a dog out to walk. Poor dog shouldn't have to inhale cig smoke while in the care of an employee , not to mention the dog probably smelled like smoke after. Not the best care here of other people's animals, from what I've seen and experienced. Oh and Banfield, don't waste your time here unless you have a free first visit. They will hand you estimates that cost thousands of dollars- ridiculous. read more

I normally bring my furbabies to Lindsay, but Lindsay has been out for medical. I've been holding out until she returns cause my furbabies love her and she's such a great woman/groomer all around. I took my babes to petco and was surprised to see all new groomers. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and left my babies with them. My puppy only a year old and my kitty 3yrs old-only needed a simple nail trim, bath for cat and groom for dog. 3.5 hrs later, I get a call saying my cat is ready but puppy is bad.. bad wtf bad? "She bit me and drew blood, & I can't cut her hair" basically told me to come get her. I hurry over worried about this poor girl and worried about my baby.. I see my puppy and she looks exactly the way I dropped her off. 4 hrs and they did nothing. I refuse to pay for her putting my puppy in a kennel for 4hrs!! I asked Vivanna (the groomer) where my dog bit her and her response was- "oh it healed" how does a bite where u say my puppy drew blood heal in less than 20 mins?? She had no scratches and couldnt show me any bites. I'm callin B.S.. I bring my cat and dog home and my cat is acting weird. I check her paws and they clipped her claws all the way to the nub. I am livid! My puppy sat in a kennel for 4 hrs. I will never take my babes back to these unprofessional & uneducated people. read more

Gave it a one star coz their customer service is terrible. I scheduled an appointment with them to groom my cat and when I got there for my pet's appointment, the groomers were closed. Talked to one of the staff there and only told me that their computers were down for the day so they sent their groomers home. It would've been great to have them give me a heads up before i came all the way for nothing. I will not recommend this place. read more

I took my 4 month Yorkie in for his first grooming. He needed to be trimmed down due to several small matted spots of hair. The groomer called and said she really tried to finish him but he would to stressed. She kept apologizing.. She also said he bit her. She trimmed all his hair except for his face and one leg, she litterally stopped mid-cut. I do understand that he was stressed and it was to much for him. But she basically told me I had to take him to vet to have them finish. Which I did and it only took them less then a minute and he didn't give them a hard time at all. They were shocked it was so easy. I really felt like the person who groomed him was not experienced enough to do it, she knew how much she had to cut before she even started. I felt like they should have had someone else try it, But they didn't we picked him up and he looked like a crackhead. read more

I know the few times I've been to Petco it has been okay. The groomers are professional and kind. I know they would take care of my dog while he was getting his nails cut. One problem I would have to point out is the sales clerks walking throughout the store. The last few times I was there the female workers were very rude to me. I would ask them questions (regarding shampoo or other items) and I was treated as if I should have known the product already. read more

Another 5 stars for Niya the dog trainer at petco. I took charger for a refresher course and charger thinks the world of Niya and I do too. She knows a lot about dogs behaviors and I realize that it is really me she is teaching. Charger is a very good student and does everything right when she's in control. First review because I'm still grossed out. Stop by for convenient to pick up 2 bags of dog food for my 2 small dogs. Full of bugs and contaminated. They blamed the brand but they were different. I asked them to clear the whole shelf. Well hope they do it so no other dogs could get sick. read more

I scheduled an appointment for my dog to be groomed as we do every few months. He has been in the store several times for a grooming. About a year ago, a new groomer had trouble getting him to calm down enough to cut his hair and wound up turning him away, which was understandable. He went back several times after that and other groomers did not seem to have any issues with him. Then today, Petco turned us away on arrival based on him "displaying aggressive behavior last time." I discussed this with my wife and she confirmed that there was only one incident a year ago and there have been no issues since then. I scheduled this appointment a month ago, took time off of work to take him in, and feel that we were turned away for a non-issue (he has had his hair cut every 3 months for 7 years and has only had the one issue). Unless they simply didn't tell us that there was another issue, I find turning us away to be unreasonable. In addition, if he is flagged in the system as "aggressive," that is up to Petco, but they could have at least told us that they wouldn't take him in advance or prevented me from booking an appointment in the first place. read more

Pretty sad when a customer informs you that memorial day signs are still posted. How do you not see that big sign in your window as you walk up to open store and as you lock store up for closing. Do not buy fish or plants from this petco. Every single tetra I purchased had fin rot. Also purchased a yellow guppy that ended up dying the very next day. The minimal stock of live plants they have are all browning leaves... probably the worst part of the entire experience was the service I received from the employee working over there. He was standing at the sink for 10 mins while I waited by the tanks to be helped. Wouldn't even look at me or acknowledge me. Eventually I went over to him and said "excuse me, we are ready to get some fish when you get a chance" this gentlemen didn't even turn around and acknowledge me. He just pulled off his gloves dramatically and threw them down and went over to my husband (didn't even look at me) and asked him what he wanted.... I was so shocked by his weird behavior. Too bad because this store is the closest pet store to me but I will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!! Do not EVER adopt a cat from a rescue organization in front of this Petco store. We adopted a cat from in front of this store thinking that it was somehow endorsed or checked out by Petco and it turned out to be very sickly and costly. Turns out that the animals up for adoption in front of the store are not endorsed or approved of by any way by Petco. Within three months we had vet bills of over $1200.00. Turns out the cat has a genetic defect and constant eye/nasal infections. Along with a severe ear infection. Calls to Petco corporate told us they are in no way responsible or liable for anything to do with these adoptions. They will let anyone put animals up for adoption out front of their stores. So think twice when you see an animal up for adoption outside of these stores. They may be ill and there is no legal recourse for you in addition to the fact that you are heartbroken and the animal is suffering. Adopt from an organization like the animal shelter where you have some type of recourse. We still have the cat but she has constant infection issues whcih require vet visits but we love her and do not want to put her down. Don't let this happen to you. read more

I bought a baby beardie from here and not only did he have worms and parasites he was also very sick from the minute i got him, my sister over heard the managers talking about a sick beardie that was not only put it back in the tank he was also bought and that beardie also had a broken back leg and that's exactly what my beardie had. Him being so sick lead to me having to put him down on wednesday because there was nothing we could do. When you go keep an eye out about the non-active ones and/or ask lots of questions. He was about 2 months on Wednesday the 29th of may and he was still the size of when i got him. read more

We buy all of our animal needs here and decided to get our German Sheppard Puppy groomed here. Needless to say Kim did a wonderful job, our pup came back clean and fresh smelling. We have also done the puppy courses with one of our other dogs and by the end of the course was a completely different pup. We bought 2 fancy goldfish for our nieces here. Within a few days they were both dead. We took them back along with a water sample which tested perfect. They gave us new fish but before we left I noticed a strange growth on one. Turns out their tanks had an anchor worm infestation and had to be quarantined! Now our whole tank is contaminated along with our 3 previously perfectly healthy fish that we've had for 4 months, one of which is now about to go belly-up as well! It ended being very late and they couldn't call me to let me know or when my dog would be finished. Blonde haired girl gave me attitude and acted like I was stupid. This is for the dog training and grooming department. Our puppy has attended classes and puppy play with Naomi. The pup has grown into a happy, well socialized and playful dog who knows her basic commands. Naomi is a good trainer and she does what she can to make your dog a good canine citizen. The groomers are very sweet with the dogs and took amazing care of my puppy who was 13 weeks old on her first visit. Every time we walk into the store, the groomers greet her very sweetly. If you are looking for dog training and grooming for your dog, this might be the place. Make sure you have enough time to train with your dog at home though. DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE. TOTAL DISCRIMINATION. I get its not petco, but when i called the customer service rep was horrid. Anyways, we went into petco to look for a cat/kitten. My husband and i fell in love with this beautiful cat with one green eye and one blue. We immediatley found the person to adopt from, her name was Margaret. She seemed to be excited about us adopting, but when we pointed out the cat her face dropped. "Oh shes my favorite". Automatically my husband and I thought she didnt want to give her up. She says we have to adopt another cat in order to adopt her too. We say of course. Then she walks away while we pick out another. We come back and she immediatley tells us she thinks we wont be able to adopt her because we have a baby. After saying that ive seen friends who have babies adopt she FINALLY gives me the paperwork. Then she tells me i have to wait and hear back from them. I say ok and leave with my husband and baby. Next day i call petco to figure out how long it takes to get word back. The customer service rep tells me she normally does same day adoptions, and that its wierd that she made me wait. Im thinking wtf, so i call the actual adoption agency, and this lady tells me its petco that i need to call. So then i call petco AGAIN and they tell me Margaret is there and put me on the phone with her. I ask her how long it will take and then she tells me the kitten got ADOPTED with her sister. Are you serious? Then later she tells me she prefers her to go with her sister. Well shit if you would have told me that after we asked who she gets along with best then that would have happened. Total waste of time. Horrible customer service. Whats funny is that we would have spoiled the crap out of both those cats. But its okay, im pretty sure there are other society's that dont discriminate and actually want their animals to go to a good home. Im going to make it my goal to make sure my shipmates (navy coworkers) and civilians i know and work with and know dont go there. read more

Larry answered every question I had with knowledge and professionalism. He helped me pick up a new cat food for my cat that is now considered a senior.
