My dog has been getting groomed at Petco in Southaven for a year. The manager/groomer does great work; however, the lack of customer service is overwhelming. For example, I had a 1:00 appointment for grooming, however, I arrived at 12:50, Madison, the manager informed me that I needed to wait in my car until the appointment time because I was too early. I never understood why the manager/groomer would behave in this manner. My inference was that Madison was on a supreme power trip. The absolute last time I brought my dog to this groomer; I was checking my dog in at the counter and usually the groomer will consult with the owner about the grooming needs. Another groomer asked Madison to come and consult with my dog and I. Madison turned around and stated. "I need to finish this dog, you do it". I was perplexed because Madison was the groomer scheduled for service. The check-in process is no longer than 3 minutes. The lack of professionalism. I called the store to express my dissatisfaction, and Madison told me she could not groom my dog because he was too anxious. Oh! how ironic. I asked her could anyone else in the grooming department groom him and she gave me a hard no and continued with I need to come and get my dog. If my dog was being anxious, he was definitely feeding off Madison's energy. read more

As the name applies. This is a Pet Store. They sell everything you can think of related to pets. Especially dogs and cats. They even sell dog and cat food here too. But, it is quite expensive compared to discount stores. I had to stop by here to get a dog leash- tie down for an ATV. It had to be just the right length. I found it here. This ATV to dog leash tie down will be used to tie down my German Shepherd to my 4 wheeler so he can ride. He lives to love to ride my 4 wheeler around out in the country. But, in doing so. I have to have a safety leash to keep him on the 4 wheeler in case he sees another dog or cat while riding him around. Otherwise, he could unexpectedly jump off and run after them causing neighbor problems or unwanted fights (between animals). Also I don't want go running after him causing me to trespass and or get hurt. So, this way we can both enjoy the ATV ride without the drama. Anyway, the cashier was really nice and friendly. She even smiled and talked to me while I was there. There's several other stores nearby that I like to shop at such as Books A Million, Sams Club, Sportsmans Warehouse and etc. read more

I was not satisfied with my baby's appearance. Though it was no fault of the groomer(Mary). I told her to use her judgement. It was just a matter of preference. I did not have an appointment and they graciously fit us in. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I will take CoCo back. read more

My friend and I had appointments for our 5-month-old puppies (brother & sister) to get baths and nail trims. The appointments were both for 12:45pm, and we were told to expect it to take 3-4 hours. After 5:30pm, I was called and told my friend's puppy was having issues, only to learn that the puppies were being mixed up with one another. My puppy was actually the one who was having trouble with the groomers. They waited nearly 5 hours to call and let me know there was a problem, and when I came to pick her up, I was given a damp puppy with sharp nails. The groomers completed all of the services on my friend's puppy, but did not complete even one on mine. We were charged the same amount for two very different services. The groomer who was working with my puppy left before I finished paying at the register. read more

I took My poodle to get a haircut for his upcoming birthday I dropped him off and left 30 minutes of me being gone the groomer calls and says I needed to come back because he was so severely matted he needed to be shaved at a vet which was a complete LIE I went back to pick him up and he had one long streak down his back and his tail was half way hanging off I called the vet she recommended they couldn't cut his hair til August 5th I took him to Pet Smart they didn't have a problem at all with grooming him petco totally ruined his confidence and his birthday I definitely will not be going back read more

Terrible Customer Service!!! I have never been to a place that refuses to get you a product that is in plain sight! I just moved back to Memphis and needed to get a few items for the cat. I bought a $159 kitty condo and 20 cans of wet food to get him started. The last thing on my list was a Litter Genie. There was one on the shelf, but it had been opened and there was no packaging on it at all. I saw a brand new one on a palette that was out on the sales floor. I asked one of the sales associates if she could retrieve the new one for me. She acted extremely annoyed that I would ask her to do such a thing! The Litter Genie was near the top of the palette and was completely accessible. All she needed to do was cut through the plastic. She flat out refused and told me to take the opened product. I told her that I would prefer the unopened one and she refused again. I was shocked! Here I am with close to $200 worth of products in my cart and she was refusing to take 5 minutes out of her day to help me and increase the amount of the sale. Instead of arguing with her, I just politely took the items I already had and paid for them at the register. I also made a vow that I would NEVER patronize this location again. As I am a loyal Petco customer, I will gladly go across town to get my monthly supply of cat food and other items at another location that will take the time to appreciate and assist a customer. read more

One cashier with 9 Customers waiting. Back up cashier comes up doesn't take the next Customer in line but instead announces " I'm open" as if that is going to turn out good. Yep the last jack ass in line jumped in front of everyone who had been waiting. Second back up cashier comes up and shows the same horrible Customer Service skills by announcing they are open. Gee thanks for coming up to help but how about you walk up to the next person in line and take them to your now open register. MOD was literally standing in the check out area and did nothing to correct the horrible Customer Service. With the age of on line ordering I fully understand why Customers avoid box retailers with horrible Customer Service! read more

The dog trainer named April is simply amazing!!! She is among the best trainers around. Her training knowledge is incredible. Wow!

Only go into the store occasionally if it is absolutely necessary. Have yet to have an employee approach and ask if they could be of help. Always have to chase someone down. I have some small toads that require very small live food and Petco is the only place I can get it. However, every time I have checked or called it has been out of stock. Speaking of calling, my calls were disconnected 3 times before someone answered. To my daughters chagrin I think we better release the toads and hope for the best since we cannot get a reliable food source. read more

I'm not sure why, but I never have great experiences in Petco. I wouldn't call them bad, except for one occasion at a different store. I don't care for their selections, dog or cat. The small animal section is usually dirty and stinks, and I've pointed out injuries before (like.. a missing foot). I do like the treat bar, and no one else has one of those around here. I like their 2 for $5 toy selection up at the front registers. I think maybe 1 time, someone ever acknowledged my dog, and I'm pretty sure he was knew. Only petco employee who has ever petted her or even said hi to her. That's kind of sad. I take her to PetSmart or Hollywood Feed, and they're all over her. I could deal with high prices and low choices if they would at least say hello to my dog. read more
