I don't have one bad thing to say about this location. They're more outgoing and converse more than the employees at the sepulveda store in van nuys. I've been able to find better doggie clothes, in stock food, and treats here than in VN. When I first adopted my dog a couple years back, I took him to two different Petco locations a number of times and between the "I couldn't do this because he was snippy" "I didn't know if this was what you were wanting length wise and some areas I couldn't get to" I had no other choice but to find a pricier more experienced groomer that would get it done perfectly every time. The price became too much for a dog that needs to be regularly groomed, so I thought I would give Petco one last shot. I was welcomed by the groomer J.R, and he was extremely welcoming and understanding about my past experiences and right off the bat I could tell he has a great heart for animals- my dog warmed right up to JR which made me less worried about the care. My dog gets nervous around strangers and aside from the normal nervousness he took to JR easier than I've ever seen him at a grooming salon! When it was time for pick-up, Ashley assisted me and she was a doll, extremely sweet, and had all good things to say- very genuine. The cut came out exactly the way I wanted, and out of every groom (even the expensive ones) between the employees/ groomers at this location, I honestly believe this was Dewey's best experience yet. She wasn't pushy, she told me how I could sav money and she explained the food in a way I didn't understand before from their stand alone store. I work at a Vet and a client referred me to this Petco and told me to ask for Myra specifically. She showed me pictures of how her dog ended up and I liked it a lot. So I decided to take my dog Monster there. Myra was super friendly. She explained everything really good. Definitely bringing Monster back when he needs a trim. This location is exceptional. I had amazing experience with every team member. I love the work of Grooming department . I used to take my dog to Ashley and she was so patient and kind that my dog learned how to be cooperative (after being traumatized & scared by groomers at Pet Smart during a 6 hour of grooming appointment - being tortured). Ashley's gentle approach brought my dog back to trusting the groomer. I was going to follow Ashley to her new location (Unleash Petco) but I gave another try & got Danny to work on my dog. He is truly amazing. I love working with people like Ashley, Danny, Parker, &... other team members at this location because we are not just $ to them, ..., they deeply care about my dog and treat us at a personal caring level. The trainers and groomers we worked with are knowledgeable, professional, and caring. I highly recommend the Studio City location because the people working there go above and beyond to make your pet feel pampered with a 5 star service. I've tried the 5 star boutiques too but my vote goes to this Petco! They are champions & winners in my book. read more

This location has a pretty decent selection of everything you need for your pet cat and dog. Easy parking and friendly staff. My only reason for the 3 stars... I dropped in looking for a dog DNA test which is promoted on the Petco web site as being available in store. They had absolutely no idea what I was talking about and then advised that I could find it at Unleashed by Petco on Vineland. went there this evening and they too had no idea what I was asking for. When I returned home this evening I checked their site again and sure enough it states the tests are available in the stores. Not wanting to waste anymore of my time I ordered a test from Amazon and will have it tomorrow to find out what mix our new cute as can be rescue dog is so we can provide him the best care possible. read more

Zero customer service the assistant manager didn't try to help me with my issue. I bought a leash for my dog of the brand I always get but this time so how cut my dog. I was disappointed about this already and I went to the store to returned with my receipt and this manager with a huge tattoo on get chest didn't want to return it because I didn't have the credit card with me. Parker is truly amazing!! She is a gifted and compassionate trainer who helped us to transform our 2 adult dogs. Took our wild Jack Russell and timid chihuahua to her adult level 1 classes and she did such a wonderful job training our pups and giving us the tools to continue their training at home. Our girls and my husband and I looked forward to our sessions every week. She has such a gift and knowledge of dog and human psychology!! We all learned so much and in a friendly and fun environment. This is probably one of the smallest Petco's I have been too, almost missed it as I was driving by searching for it in fact. However the staff is pretty nice and helpful and they really seem like they love and care about animals. However like most Petco's the prices are abit high. I mean I saw Cat foods and Dog foods here for 2 times what I pay at places like Ralphs and Target. Of course this is a specialty store devoted soley to animals so it's to be expected I guess. Overall this is a nice store clean and if your in the area don't have too many hesitations about going here. Only the parking can be a hassel. read more

I like this location: it is clean and usually the parking is easy. That is sort of my barometer for places in LA since I am still kinda new here. It is not my favorite dog place but the price for dog food is a bit cheaper for the good stuff here. I buy Natural Balance and I have priced it elsewhere and it is a few dollars cheaper here, so there you go. Ran out of kitten vaccine, and gave us a 'were sorry' to make up for the hour of time wasted.. sort of like a few weeks ago, when I called the Glendale Petco and asked how old does my kitten need to be before bringing him in for vaccinations, they told me 4 weeks old.. we rushed in, fell in line, and waited, only to be told by the Veterinarian that he needs to be 8 weeks old..our kitten was only 6 weeks old and we had to leave.. Thanks for the 'were sorry' x2. but it sure didn't make up for the wasted 2 hours of our precious time.. We will look for another company to handle our needs in the future. read more

I walked in and spoke with the cashier who informed me that they don't "do dog adoptions at this location anymore" but the Burbank store still does. I mentioned that I was here and not in Burbank and that seemed odd to me that this is a corp chain and it should be consistent through-out? So he mentioned that a phone call would be best to ensure that procedure! I said, "yes it would be!" PAUSE! So I said are you going to give me the number or what? (Thinking that he has a store directory etc...) Oh, oh, oh well duh, yes, I can do that for you. Meanwhile, I ask about - where do you have Dick Van Patten's dog food "Natural Balance" he proceeded to point and give me directions instead of walking me to it (I absolutely hate that in every fashion and form from anybody - don't point and don't give directions if you expect me to purchase from your store!) So while he gave me the number to the Burbank store, he inquired if I was going to get the products and I said NO! Perplexed, he said..."I told where they were, I said "I know" and you also gave me the Burbank phone number. So if I go there I'd rather give them the business or buy it online. The store was empty and I heard employees chatting in the back from up front, so clearly he could have called someone to help me. Meanwhile, in my car, I called Burbank. No they don't dog adoptions but they do CAT adoptions but the CAT lady was sick this past Saturday, July 14th and will back on the 15th! WTF! So I took my two dogs this Saturday for grooming but Jr, the manager said that because one of them had her hair to tangled they could not trim her when originally the first time I took her she was worst but when I asked if they can at least do my other dog, the manager try getting close to him and he bark and almost snapped on him so like a little bitch, the manager said I cant see him, he might bite us??!! like really? don't other dogs bark at them too and they calm them down? by the way, that's what they are there for, to calm the pets down and do their job! the first time around same thing happen and I believe Steve was able to calm him down and boom job was done! . Called to inquire politely on the size and brands of fish tanks available. The man answering the call was rude and unprofessional and claimed that one of the brands I saw on the website was Petsmart. He responded rudely when I clarified on the brands from websites. He should not be on the customer service and needs anger management. I half wish I should have told him off. Definitely not shopping there anymore and will not be doing any purchases. This employee just sent all his sales from Petco to Petsmart or to Amazon. read more

Scammers. A parakeet flew onto our school grounds, we captured it, and I decided to take it home. So of course, I had to get all of the bird stuff. Since I've never owned a bird, I needed some help. The guy that helped me was very nice and knowledgeable. He gave me 50% off of the bird cage and some great advice. Cool. I went home to assemble my birdcage. As I began to work on the birdcage, I got this strange feeling. Something didn't seem right. My bill was kind of high. You know that feeling that you get when you think that you've paid too much. Yeah. So, I checked my receipt. Sure enough, I had paid full price for the birdcage. I immediately called the store for a price adjustment. The manager, via the grooming associate, says that I can come in for a price adjustment; I just need to bring the receipt and birdcage back. Wait? What? Why would I need to bring the birdcage back? This huge cage that I struggled to get in my house. I asked if I could just bring in the receipt since it's a price adjustment. They tell me no because they have to scan the box. I asked if I could just bring in the box. They tell me no. So, I asked to speak directly to the manager. While speaking to the manager of the bird department, Roger, he tells me that he cannot give me a price adjustment. That I can return the cage, but an adjustment cannot be made. What? Five minutes ago this same person said that I could get the adjustment, and now I can't? So, I asked to speak to the store manager. Mike, the assistant manager, told me that their register would not allow a discount of 50%. That doesn't sounds right either. I asked Mike how much of a discount would I be able to get. Mike puts me on hold. Mike and Rodger have a little back and forth about what my discount should be. I can hear Rodger in the back arguing against giving me a discount. They decide that 20% is sufficient, and explain to me that 20% is all that the register will allow. I know this to be completely untrue. They could've given me the 50% discount. They simply didn't want to. I feel totally cheated. read more

I've been taking my 8 month old pup to the Studio City Petco for dog training with KRISTA and I'm beyond thrilled. My pup has learned to sit, stay, heel, come, lie down, leave it - all in a few short weeks. KRISTA IS AMAZING!!! She is a young girl with a gift for training dogs! Do yourself a favor and check out her classes. I lucked out when my class wasn't full and ended up with 6 private lessons. It doesn't get better than this, folks. Plus, the classes are held inside the store in the cool air conditioning and even with the private classes there is plenty of time for dog socialization since so many people shop in the store with their dogs. I don't know about other teachers but Krista really is the best. My dog adores her and I think thats why he is doing so well. Check her out - you won't be disappointed. read more

I would give this Petco a zero if I could. I spend a good deal of time and money at Petco but have decided that despite the fact that it is in a convenient location for me, I am no longer going to shop there. The customer service is dreadful! A few weeks ago an incredibly rude young woman named Hope insulted me upon check out because I asked her to apply my "rewards discount". She told me it was too late because they were not loaded on my card and that was my problem not hers. In a very snarky voice she said she was not able to load the card and I would have to remember to do it next time before I shopped. I was completely taken back by her tone and her response. My bill was around $130 as it is every week and I was merely asking that she apply the discount that my purchases has allotted me. I told her that I would not make the purchase without the discount and suddenly she was able to figure out how to apply the points after the fact. Magic. Today against my better judgement I went back and had some questions about fish tank filters. I approached Steven in the fish department. He told me what filter I should get. I picked up the Petco filter which was the same kind but had more filters in the bag and was cheaper than the one he recommended. He told me to stop touching everything and get the name brand one he suggested or he was going to leave. He proceeded to walk away. Perhaps these two people are good with animals (I have no way of knowing that) but the are horrendous with people and unfortunately for them they have to deal with people in their jobs. I am a huge animal person but I'm not rude and obnoxious with people. I won't shop here any longer. The people at Kriser's are lovely, I'll go there instead. Anything else I can get on Amazon and save myself the drive not to mention the grief of having to deal with such inconsiderate people. read more

I bought a hamster three weeks ago from Petco Studio City, and my son was not capable of taking care of it so I had to take it back. I had the hamster in my hand I asked the person at the front if they sell hamsters here to make sure that this is the same petco I bought it from and he looked at me like I was a complete idiot. Then he said in a very condescending way that you have to wait your turn and I was amazed on how he said what he said to me so I grab the hamster and walked outside and then I went back in and placed hamster on the counter. Then the manager proceeded to follow me out and said with my son crying are you a banding in the animal and then I turned around and I was very upset and I said I am leaving it here and I can't believe that I am being treated this way. The funny thing is when I called to complain to the manager he was the manager how funny. So I hope that everyone stays away from Petco Studio City. read more

Sadly, this is a terrible petco. It's horribly disorganized and the staff has no idea if they carry something. I've gone there twice since I moved to the valley, once for food and once for a spray med and both times, I was told that they don't carry it. Both times they did and I eventually found it, but I don't know if the staff just doesn't give a S--- or if they just have no idea. Either way, I won't come back unless I'm completely desperate. BTW, there's a pet store across the street by the coffee bean that's 100% better. I noticed it one day when I was at the CB and when in and they were really nice. Still need to take the doggie in one day and see what he thinks but I'm pretty sure he will be thrilled. No idea about the name but I guarantee it will be a better experience that this particular petco. It's sad, they really need to renovate this store and train their staff a lot better or hire people that actually care. read more

I've shopped at both this Petco and the Burbank location for live insects for my reptile and I've been constantly frustrated with the lack of attention or care that is put into keeping an eye on their bugs. Every time I shop for mealworms that come in sizes (small, med, and large) and multiple counts between like 25 and 100 theres such an inconsistency in what I actually get. The wrong size worms and almost always less than how many there should be. The worst part is that I'm constantly weeding through cups of dead bugs, one instance I got all the way home and realized every worm was dead. Another time I opened a container of silkworms or some other kind of worm and it was full of black flies that the worms had turned into. I really wish I could shop somewhere else but my bearded dragon is too young to eat the large insects at the reptile store near me. This seems like a problem that could be easily taken care of. Neglect for these little guys should be taken just as seriously as neglect for any other creatures they sell. read more

The employs are always asking if you need help but their selection for cats is terrible. They only have one option of crystal liter as well as wipes. Target has a better selection. Also I was here a few weeks ago and I asked if they had a liter box filter, one of the employees told me no, then another found a filter but it was the wrong one.
