(2 Stars) I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Wagmor was concerning enough that I feel it's worth sharing. Initially, I had a great conversation with Melissa. We spoke for about 20 minutes about a Shih Tzu I was interested in adopting, and I genuinely felt like we connected. The conversation was friendly, informative, and left me excited about the possibility of bringing one of the dogs home. During our conversation, I told Melissa that I absolutely wanted to move forward. I provided extensive information about myself, including my home address, and even sent a video of my home as part of the screening process. I was clearly serious about adopting and was actively participating in the process. At the time, the dogs were still being transported from the Midwest and had not yet arrived. I explained that I was happy to move forward, but I wanted a FaceTime call or some form of confirmation once the dog was actually in her custody before sending a deposit. To me, that seemed like a reasonable request. Adopting a pet is a major commitment, and I wanted to verify the dog had arrived safely and make sure it was the right fit before sending money. Shortly afterward, I was asked to send a $500 deposit and received an invoice reflecting a $1,000 adoption fee. When I didn't send the deposit that day, I was blocked on Instagram within a matter of hours. What bothered me most was the pressure. I wasn't refusing to adopt, nor was I wasting anyone's time. I had already spent time on the phone, provided personal information, and sent a video of my home because I fully intended to move forward once I could confirm the dog had arrived and everything checked out. I simply wanted to exercise reasonable due diligence before sending money. That's why I was so surprised by what happened next. The tone of the communication changed dramatically, and the entire experience left me feeling uncomfortable. One additional note: I previously posted a review describing this experience, but it no longer appears on the page. I'm not sure why, but I wanted to share my experience again. She just knows how amazing and pure all dogs are, and how much of a need there is to adopt them out to people who will love and take care of them. The puppies and dogs looked happy and healthy, and Melissa was friendly and transparent throughout the adoption process, and has been prompt to answer questions and acknowledge any picture updates of my sweet puppy. Like many others, I regret not doing more research before adopting my dog from Wagmor. Unfortunately, my experience closely mirrors many of the reviews already posted. I first found my puppy through an Instagram post claiming the puppies were in a "bad situation" and desperately needed homes. Looking back, my first red flag should have been the perfectly styled, professional photos that looked more like breeder photos than a rescue. The second red flag was the $2,000 adoption fee and being told I had only one hour to pay before they would move on to the next adopter. I convinced myself the money was supporting dogs in need. I couldn't have been more wrong. I paid on March 21, 2025. By March 27, I still hadn't received updates, so after reading the negative reviews, I asked Melissa where my puppy came from. She said she didn't know but thought the puppies may have come from a breeder that had been shut down or from someone who no longer wanted them. Transport began on April 3, and to Wagmor's credit, I did receive daily travel updates and photos. The puppies arrived April 5, were examined April 6, and we picked ours up that afternoon. After paying, I performed a reverse Google image search and found my puppy listed on several breeder websites, with an asking price lower than Wagmor's adoption fee. When I received my puppy's veterinary records, it was clear she had come from a breeder who had provided routine veterinary care. However, the previous owner's information had been blacked out with Sharpie, making it impossible to trace her history. Although Wagmor's records stated my puppy was healthy, she was lethargic almost immediately after coming home. We assumed it was stress from transport until she continued getting worse. Our veterinarian diagnosed a double ear infection, Giardia, and canine coronavirus on April 10. Despite treatment, she deteriorated, stopped eating, and was hospitalized on April 14 for IV fluids and additional care. We were told she could require a feeding tube if she didn't improve. Thankfully, she recovered. I kept Melissa updated throughout. She expressed sympathy and suggested seeing Wagmor's veterinarian, but we live two hours away and our puppy was too sick for a four-hour round trip. Other than suggesting we use her vet or return the puppy, I was never offered financial assistance. Melissa later told me the other puppies from the litter were healthy. I'm glad they didn't experience what we did, but our puppy still required more than $3,500 in emergency veterinary care within days of adoption. Even the complimentary pet insurance denied my claim because it concluded the illnesses were likely pre-existing. Nearly a year later, I also had to repeatedly text and message Wagmor before finally receiving the promised $180 spay reimbursement. It wasn't sent until after I referenced other reviews describing the same issue. My issue is not that rescue dogs can become sick. My concern is paying a premium "rescue" adoption fee for a puppy that appears to have come directly from a breeder, arrived with multiple serious illnesses within days of adoption, and ultimately cost me approximately $5,500 between the adoption fee and emergency veterinary care. I struggle to understand how an organization can charge thousands of dollars while doing so little to ensure the puppies being placed into homes are healthy. We were fortunate enough to keep our puppy, but many families couldn't absorb that kind of unexpected expense. I've included as much detail as possible because I've seen Melissa dispute other negative reviews. This is simply my experience. We adopted a puppy from WagmorPets for $1,800 and wanted to share our experience for transparency. The adoption process did not include a formal application or thorough screening, which was surprising compared to most rescues that I previously applied for with other dogs I was interested in. The interaction felt more like being encouraged to adopt quickly rather than being evaluated for fit. We were told our puppy had an initial vet visit prior to adoption, but this occurred just one day before we picked him up along with their many other puppies from transport. The very next day after bringing him home, our vet diagnosed him with Cystoisospora, then later Giardia. Three days later, he was also diagnosed with pneumonia. He required multiple vet visits, including the ER (recommended by the vet at the regular clinic), within the first week alone. These conditions were not clearly disclosed to us at the time of adoption. There is a free 30-day Trupanion insurance provided that covers 90% of costs, but with ER visits and multiple vet appointments, even the remaining 10% adds up quickly. Now that the 30-day coverage period has ended, we are still dealing with ongoing Giardia infection and a residual cough from pneumonia, which continues to require care. Additionally, obtaining new pet insurance becomes complicated, as some conditions may be considered pre-existing after diagnosis. We were offered the option to return him to be seen by their vet, but given how sick he was, we chose to seek immediate care ourselves and took him to the ER. We want to be clear that we love our puppy so much and do not regret getting him (naturally). However, the past 5 weeks have been extremely difficult -- not just adjusting to a new puppy, but managing a very sick one. We are still struggling with sleep, largely due to his ongoing recovery. Because of his illnesses and incomplete vaccinations, he has not been able to go outside, properly potty train, or go on walks, which is especially challenging living in an apartment and trying to avoid exposing other dogs. We are sharing this so future adopters can do their research first (unlike us) and ask all the questions they need for their future pet. Before doing business with Wagmor, be sure to read the LA Times expose on the criminal practices taking place here. Also, ask yourself why a company masquerading as a rescue program mainly only sells cute puppies who would have little trouble being adopted from any shelter in SoCal? This isn't a rescue, it's a cold hard profiteering scheme that endangers dogs and exploits potential owners by setting everyone up for failure and charging exorbitant fees in the process. There are countless negative reviews about this company. Many experiences are far worse than mine was. The short of it is I got a dog several years ago as a naive first time owner. They reached out on a Thursday evening and made a polite offer to take a puppy I had applied for, but they claimed I had to get him within the next 24-48 hours. No trial phase, no time to deliberate. In hindsight they were most likely pulling a bait and switch. They listed my puppy and his siblings as being "chihuahua mixed with Great Dane". They claimed my guy had a very calm relaxed temperament and would max out between 20 and 25 lbs. What I got was a 1/2 pitbull DNA super mutt who had a high amount of working dog in his 17 breeds. He now weighs 41 pounds of pure muscle. He is also literally inbred. His parents are siblings. The whole chihuahua/Dane thing was such an obvious ploy to throw everyone off the scent there. Even if Wagmor was unaware, they had no problem echoing bogus information on their social media posts. In other areas, the lies were more blatant. His temperament was the polar opposite of what had been described. He was a very hyperactive and destructive puppy. From the very first moment I took him inside he was howling at the top of his lungs as soon as I stepped outside to get food from the car. He was clearly afflicted by severe isolation distress and separation anxiety that would be obvious to anyone caring for him. I was in danger of eviction from my building for having a pit breed but thankfully a doctor wrote me note qualifying him as an emotional support dog. People who handle dogs all day long clearly could tell these puppies were pitty breeds. But they happily posted misinformation, setting me up to potentially have to abandon my puppy. I clearly was the sucker, but you don't expect this sort of blatant fraud from a famous "pet rescue". I've poured thousands of dollars a year into treating his isolation issues not to mention high monthly daycare costs that the average dog owner does not face. I do this because I love him and I don't want to pawn him off to someone else (the way Wagmor does in the name of profit). I was scammed and I continue paying the price for trusting an insanely unethical business. I consider myself lucky that I wasn't one of the many clients who suffered through the death of a dog under Wagmor's negligence and deception. Save the $1000+ adoption fees and go to a pound or at least a real rescue that operates out of charity and not greedy profiteering. Unless you want to subsidize some con artist's high class life, schmoozing with clueless celebrities. I'm sure the highly stable genius owner of this operation will come in hot with a passive aggressive deflection here. Surely this is all a witch hunt propagated by felonious bad actors and this was my failure. The LA Times said it all. I'm just one of hundreds or thousands of spurned clients. I used to support this adoption center, but unfortunately I don't anymore. I adopted an adult dog from them and, to be honest, there was no follow-up at all after the adoption. The adoption fee was $650 for an adult dog, which was explained as including spaying, so at the time I felt okay with the cost. However, I wasn't able to use their vet because it was nearly impossible to get an appointment, so I ended up going to my own veterinarian anyway. Later, I was interested in adopting a puppy because I truly don't support breeders. That's when I was really surprised to see puppy adoption fees ranging from $1,250 to $1,800. At that point, it made me question whether this is an adoption center or if dogs are essentially being sold. Many shelters have a flat adoption rate, so this pricing felt unusual and discouraging. While I understand rescues have expenses, the lack of follow-up and the extremely high adoption fees made the experience disappointing. I was asked to write a review right away, but I waited purposely until my after my dog was neutered as I was supposed to be paid back & never heard back from them again. At first, you get attention when it benefits them financially, but once the adoption is complete, communication disappears. Support after adoption was extremely disappointing. Rose kept telling me "Melissa is not responding" when I sent my receipts & docs in. One major issue was being pushed to handle the neuter process on my own expense and time. When I called a local clinic Wagmor recommended to me, to schedule the procedure, they immediately recognized Wagmor and told me they would not service any dogs coming from there. They shared serious concerns about Wagmor's reputation, which was shocking and upsetting to hear after already adopting. After 7+ emails and no word back, it looks like I will not be refunded for the neuter, despite expectations set during the process. All in my dog adoption + Neuter cost $1000+. I have a chihuahua LOL. Usually a few hundred bucks from a real animal shelter. My overall experience was that this organization seemed far more focused on collecting fees than caring for adopters or the long-term wellbeing of the dogs. We saw this precious one eyed pup a few weeks ago while leaving LALAs and decided to go take a better look at him with our pup we currently have to see if they'd get along. The interaction went well and I was happy to meet protector, he was an angel. When we heard the cost of $650 i expressed it was out of our price range right now. As you can see, Melissa has an answer for every negative but doesn't address the issues. She still has not contacted us and, yes, we did follow protocol. I even requested information on proper procedure to be reimbursed and was again ignored. She told me, when I discussed the Giardia issue, that it could have been taken care of by her vet easily, but obviously it wasn't. We are talking $300 for testing, office visit and medication, each time it occurs, in this case twice. If you research Wagmor you will see several court cases have been filed. read more

I've followed Wagmor for a few years on IG, watched them grow their love and care for so many dogs & praise their successful efforts toward finding forever loving homes for all their rescues. Their application to adopt is long & thoughtful, followed by FaceTime interviews with three of their employees followed by video interaction with the puppy we were interested in adopting & observation of the pup's environment at the rescue. They were promptly responsive to any questions we had before, during and after we adopted our puppy from them. The fosters they work with are too notch! By the way our puppy seemed so well adjusted, secure & healthy (especially for being a 1.5 lb runt when weighed at 6.5 weeks) it was obvious to us that our pup's fosters were excellent puppy parents to the dogs during the couple of weeks they cared for and loved them. She was sick when you gave her to me you said she was checked by a vet, even on the chat you said the same thing. From the time I signed paper work I had the puppy within 48 hrs and when I went to get her I didn't even sign the final paper work you hand me the dog which she was covered in urine and stunk so bad. You rushed me out. Wagmor told me the puppy was from a puppy mill shut down. The Puppy Mill was never shut down it's still open. The puppy which I thought I was rescuing with an $800 adoption fee was in fact listed on the breeders website for sale for only $150. We can keep on going back and forth and I can post all the text on here for proof And urgent care records. I have no need to bash anyone I am simply stating facts.
