Petco has a big selection of items. For example they have a great selection of cat products - I recently bought a huge pad for underneath the litter box, and this Petco had it. Great selection of cat toys too. This Petco in Studio City, has a small parking lot in the back with some street parking. There is an underground parking area, but I have not tried that. But there never seems to be enough people around this store to help you. If you buy a large item sometimes the staff will offer to carry it out. And sometimes they won't. Its very hit and miss. Sometimes I have received great service, sometimes no service. It all depends if you happen to get there at a busy time or not. I do have the Petco Club card, which helps you save money on some items. So I recommend that you get that so you can receive special deals. read more

I went here last min because I cannot find any other stores locally that carry this specific brand of food for my puppy. Zoe is my 5 mo old Puggle and pretty much will only eat the Castor and Pollux organic food. Weird dog i know. So i go to this location because the other 2 i have been too have been horrifying experiences. I give this 3 stars simply because the staff was friendly and went out of their way to help me unlike the other 2 locations i went to. What is it with these large chain stores? You would think they would be much nicer and have some of the coolest stuff. This is one of the smaller Petco's in the area so logically they have a smaller selection but still carry the essential items. I have a puppy so I only go to the doggie section and usually just to pick up his food, they do however, seem to have more of a pet clothing section (this must be influenced by the location). For the most part the staff there is helpful but they don't seem approachable. I asked where they kept a few items I was looking for (bully stick, Natural Balance Dog Food etc.) and the response I get is something like "Oh, it's in the back" pretty broad statement. I've never seen more than 2-3 people working at any given time and they tend to offer better customer service from what I've observed to those who come in with their pets. read more

I use online ordering and pick up for litter, and it's always a breeze! Any time I've gone in to shop or look around, I've been asked if I need help with anything. Love this Petco. They're super accommodating and helpful. My cream Shiba pup chewed and ate through a nylabone double pack I bought at another Petco store. I brought the gnarled nylabones to the store and the associate was like wow, he did that?! Anyway, he made the suggestion of moving him to antlers, which was a perfect call and they exchanged the nylabone for the antler piece. Great customer service! Another reason, I love this Petco is because they groom my Shiba fantastically. He always comes back looking clean and on point, you can't tell this dog nothing after he's been groomed there--he's handsome and he knows it. Ashley is the one who usually works on him but Damien is great too. And whatever oatmeal shampoo they use (it's an additional cost but good for his skin) works great, he never itches after a bath there. Pay for the full grooming suite (nails, ears, teeth, bath) it's worth it and I get a report card from Ashley on his visit. Even a cute note that he's a drama queen (which he is) when they spray water on him, lol. They know him and he knows them, and if I can help it, I don't take him anywhere else. Got a automatic food dispenser, great idea. Got it back in January so have had it for about four months. I've noticed lately that it will let out random amounts of food at different times during the day. It's a programmable one so I have it set for breakfast and dinner only. It is supposed to help with overeating. At this point it is making my dog gain weight with the extra food it's letting out. Went to try and return it or get store credit to try a different one and because it's been four months the receipt is no longer in the system (threw out the paper copy because I was planning on keeping it) I understand company's have policy's but to sell an item that then does not do what it is supposed to is ridiculous. I am now out about $80 because they sell a bad product. read more

This is the worst experience I ever had in my lifetime with my animals. I come in to return the dog food that there sales representative recommended from the purchase before. Due to that my dogs have diarrhea. I never leave my dogs in the car I bring them in the store with me. I have to Presa Canario that come from the Canary Islands.That way about 150 pounds each and shopping cart. The temperature is about 100°outside. So leaving them in the car was no option. So as I approach the store I asked one of the representatives to help my purchase. I needed two bags of the Merrick dog food and about 24 cans of the wet food. As well as a couple bones and a training collar. She took me back to the back the store. This location is very tight and narrow. Takes her about 20 minutes to find what I need what I was looking for mind I have two dogs in my hand and shopping cart. In the beginning I gave her a list of things I needed To shop for. Two out of four got addressed. Is This sales representative knew how to do math. She would know I have two more remaining items I'm looking for. As I turn my back for a second to look at some dog food that she didn't understand anything about. She disappeared and started helping another customer. So I got left with the dogs in my hand the shopping cart and 2# 50 pound bags of dog food. I ask another representative where the training collars were he pointed some direction. While noticing I'm having trouble with the animals and caring the items. He pointed in a large area and had me look for it. So At this point I'm very frustrated for the lack of customer service in the store. So I go to my truck I turn on the AC the full blast and I leave my dogs which I never do in the truck unintended .While I'm putting them in the car I noticed I only have a quarter of a gas tank. So I walked back in store and remain shopping and looking for what I asked the gentleman to help me find. At this point I'm searching for something myself finally I locate in a small area the training collar. I proceed to the counter for check out. After paying about $300 on dog food and items I walk to my vehicle to notice my dog is locked her self in the car. I rushed back in to ask the manager Christian for some help I told him it is emergency and my animals are in a very hot car. and they are very large breed. He tells me sir I am with a customer you have to give me a minute After I told this is a emergencyI has to represent him in front what was the city the store was in. Having a real hard time finding science diet cat food and litter at this location. The science diet cat food section has moved three times in a six month period it's almost like you don't want me to find it. When I finally did find the science diet cat food there were only three flavors on the shelf. I come back to this location every couple of months to see if they have gotten their act together, as of late still no good science diet I went back a few months later still not carrying the science diet brand cat food. The shelfs are consistently empty. What a shame, losing a customer since u can't stock the shelfs. #failingagain read more

Steven and Parker are two of the nicest and most professional employees I've interacted with in a long time. I came in to Petco to return some breath supplements that didn't agree with my pug's stomach, and I had accidentally thrown away the receipt. The manager, Steven, remembered me from the day before and was so nice. He generated a new receipt from the computer, refunded me with cash, and offered me a free bag of treats for my pug. How generous is that? Really pleasant fellow. Parker, the woman ringing people up at the cash register, was pleasant and sweet to each and every customer. She offered a nine dollar Petco Membership discount to a customer buying a carry-kennel. I think a lot of employees would not have thought to mention that discount, and she really promoted Petco's excellent savings. Steven gave me some very good suggestions on how to manage my pug's heinous breath, and I intend to use his tips and go back with a full report! I dont want to sh*t on who ever groomed my dog and give names out because he was very nice, but there has to be some further training done with all the groomers. I took my corgi there for a regular bath and deshedding. when i brought her back she was acting very strange for 2 days and wouldn't let us touch her. You can tell she was in a lot of pain. I took her to the vet and spent hundreds of dollars on a vet bill and they couldn't figure out what it was. When she finally let me touch her i felt a scab. So i started parting her fur and what I found make me cry - she had multiple scabs everywhere on her back. They must have been sooo rough with her while they were deshedding her that they cut her everywhere. My poor pup was probably in the worst pain during and after grooming and I had no idea. Never again! My advice is when it comes to grooming take them somewhere else. And advice to the groomers - please be gentle!! read more

I take my pup Harry Potter here for grooming and Damien always hooks him up with a great cut and bath. Damien is super nice and always remembers him, even though I'm sure they see hundreds of dogs in there every week. Harry has terrible anxiety and doesn't like many people but he goes to Damien willingly and happily which gives me relief that he's in good hands. Nice front office service. Grooming not so good. It seemed too extreme They took too much off our Maltipoo & did not check to see how much to trim her whiskers ( on line it states this is unnecessary as whiskers act as a navigational system for dogs ) - she was withdrawn when she came home and cried a lot in the car. Normally she is a very outgoing little one year old. I think it should have been made more clear at the onset just how drastic the change was going to be- it was a shock. I really want to give this store five stars, I shop there all of the time. I purchased 6 sweatshirts online went to the store two days ago to pick them up. Unfortunately they were too large for the dogs. I attempted to make an even exchange, exactly the same six just for a smaller size. I proceeded to show my receipt with my Pals number to the red haired sales clerk. She's extremely rude and said " the items are NOT the same price as online" I asked why? She said because you received a 20% off for picking them up in the store. I said"Well I'm in the store again picking them up again so why would they be more expensive? I'm showing her everything on my phone the receipts everything. She said " well No, we aren't supposed to look things up on our phone" I said this is my phone and Im showing you. Damien in grooming is fantastic. We have a small dog that is scared to death when we leave her, but he did a really great job of making her feel calm and really went above and beyond. It's obvious he really cares about the animals and this is a passion for him. We'll definitely be back. read more

This Petco is where I most frequently shop for pet supplies (2 dogs and fish). The store is always clean and we'll stocked. Parking is sufficient that I nearly always get a close spot and can get in and out quickly. Today I had probably the best service experience I've ever had at this store when I came in looking to buy a few fish. Normally when I am looking to buy fish I have learned to expect to go looking for help and to wait for service. When I walked in there was another shopper already in the fish section so I prepared myself to wait. That is not what happened. With in seconds one of the staff members swung by and asked the customer in front of me if she needed help...this was in spite of the fact it was clear he was on a mission with his hands full of stock he was taking to the back of the store. The other customer asked a question and this Petco employee escorted her to the section of the store she needed. I expected that the employee would then go on his way with his original plan...taking the goods he was carrying to the back of the store. But that isn't what happened either. He remembered me and came back to ask if I needed help. I said I was looking to buy fish. He promptly found a counter and laid his stock down and then took my order. He kindly asked whether I had an established tank ready before collecting the fish. When he was done and handed me the fish, he finished by telling me his name and suggesting I should feel free to call him if I had any questions later on. He then went on back to stocking, singing to himself. I was in and out within 5 minutes. I was wowed by one employee who was quick and effective, who paid attention to what was going on in the store, who showed he cared about his customers and his store, and delivered a great customer experience. Great petco location friendly staff, however product I bought is horrible. I bought the petco so phresh washable male dog diaper for my aging dog. It's holding up well however when I went to wash them, EVERYTHING IN MY LAUNDRY ROOM STAINED BLACK! The fabric bled literally every where. I layed them on top of my white washing machine and now it's all streaked black and it doesn't come out. One ended up in my dryer and it too turned my brand new dryer ALL black ! And nothing is getting it out ! read more

This review is for the grooming. They charged me $68 for a horrendous haircut for my poodle mix. They cut his hair so uneven, his nails are still long, and they didn't even trim his face. This could be the WORST pet store ever!!!! I went in to buy calming collars for my dogs, which they had advertised as on sale. I asked the first employee where I would find them, he had no idea what I was talking about. So, he had to go find out (but felt the need to remind me that they were closing in 15 min). Someone then directed me to the collars. I still had 13 min till they closed and decided to look around, I had my two small dogs in tow, and they usually love to hang out at pet stores. As we were browsing another dog growled at mine (not the store's fault and it happens and is no big deal), as we were walking away from the barking situation I realized that one of my dogs had had an "accident" but the only clean up station I could see was in the direction of the dog we were trying to avoid. I used one of my own doo doo bags and asked another associate where I could dispose of the bag. She pointed in the direction of the dog we were trying to avoid. I explained, that we were trying to avoid him and she rolled her eyes, and said there are paper towels over there too so you can really clean it up. Uh thanks, that was in no way helpful. So after another announcement that they were closing in 5 I decided, this super fun adventure was over, but I was wrong. My 5 pound Yorkie got stung by a bee in the store!!!!! No joke, he was fussing and whimpering I look down and there is a bee doing the drunken walk across the floor next to him. I get down on the ground to check him out and he is panting and having a hard standing up . I start to freak out. I asked the people at the check out if they had any benadryl, because my dog is having an allergic reaction to a bee sting. They hardly look up from counting their money to say no, but did remind me that they were closing and I needed to pay right now for the collars in my hand. I repeated myself a little louder about my dog's condition. To which they replied "there's a Ralph's next door". I scooped up my dog and got him some benadryl on the fly from Ralph's, (they were super helpful and directed me and got me checked out in under 2 min). My Puppy is fine, but I will NEVER darken the doorstep of this Petco again. The lack of caring or compassion or even interest in my situation was alarming. I mean I understand wanting to do your stuff and get home, but this was an emergency, I honestly thought my dog was going to die!!! What the heck was a bee doing in that store anyway???? read more

I just wanted to give a shout out to Colby, the manager on duty on Saturday, October 29th. He was gracious, friendly, and helpful when I called. Later, when I stopped in, it was super busy, and there was a long line of customers. Colby jumped in to assist on the registers. Despite it being so busy, he noticed me standing in line holding a heavy bag of cat food, and took it from me and put it aside until it was my turn to check out. I am always happy with the customer service at this location, but Colby went above and beyond on October 29th and I really appreciated it. I also contacted headquarters to let them know. On a previous October visit, I'd gotten very efficient help from Michael (I think that was his name) when in a rush to buy a cat carrier and other supplies on my way to rescue a kitten from the shelter. And, most recently, when needing to choose a new cat food for my senior kitty whose old Science Diet food (and every other variety of Science Diet I tried) was making him sick, I would have been completely overwhelmed had I not received amazingly comprehensive, knowledgeable, patient, excellent help from Krista. Petco Studio City is doing it right. Thank you all for your terrific customer service and great help. I am a grateful and loyal customer. read more

I'm saddened by the lack of kindness and the incredibly rude attitude of the grooming manager, J.R. I would implore you all to please look elsewhere for grooming. Especially if you own a senior dog. They take special care and extra loving and understanding. Some take medication, some get nervous when you take them to get groomed. What can I say, i came in with one of my friends yesterday to do some shopping for my family's new puppy, and you can say I was clueless. Had no idea what to get , hell i was standing in the kittens section until i was approached by the coolest worker ive ever met. Thank God an employee by the name of Aliza works at this joint. She helped me from beginning to end, helped me choose the best treats, and recommended the ones she was certain my puppy would like the most. She was patient, informative, and very honest! This specific Petco location has A very limited supply for reptiles. I usually go to the location on Supulveda but I had an emergency one day and this location is closer to my house so I decided to make a quick trip for my reptiles and needs but was very upset to find out that they really didn't have much. They do have a lot of supplies want to comes to dogs and cats but what about the not so fuzzy animals. For such a big location you would think they would have more that enough room for supplies to accommodate any type of animal. read more

The employees at this location are friendly and seem to be better than most locations. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because had an awful experience earlier this evening. I stepped in a giant pile of mushy dog feces. It's understandable that they can't control irresponsible dog owners. The problem was that they just shrugged their shoulders and did nothing. I explained that the feces embedded into the mesh of my shoes and I'll have to throw them away. I asked the process to report this and request compensation for the damaged shoes and they looked at me like I was crazy. They're lucky that I didn't slip and get injured. read more

(Scheduled my meetings for the week around this appointment-that I scheduled two weeks prior) and when I got there they told me the groomer called out sick. Totally understandable. What is not understandable is their attitude re the cancellation. No apology. No trying to make it better. When I asked if I could get some kind of compensation, the man was annoyed with me and said "we can give you a little discount, but that's it" His attitude was ridiculously rude and unprofessional. Shocked that that was their reaction to something that was their fault. I understand people call out and get sick, but to not get an apology, and to be talked to in such a rude and unprofessional manner in unacceptable.
