I used their grooming services for my dog to get a bath and haircut. I asked them to cut her fur down 50% and clean up her face. The lady groomer agreed. You have to pay before you pickup or even see your dog. Paid and got my dog and they shaved almost all of her fur off which is not what I asked for at all. Will not be going back. read more

Shoppers beware of Jeffrey!! (Store mgr) And please keep a close eye on your children while in this store. My children and I visited the store to purchase a fish tank. But while on our way to the back where the fish are located. I stopped and looked at some dog products while my kids who are 12 & 13 carried on to the back. As I was making my way to follow them my kids came out and were making faces at me gesturing that they we're mad and bothered. When I asked them what had happened they told me that this man was extremely rude to them and basically wouldn't help them out. They said that when they approached him they asked him where the 20 gallon tanks were located. He rudely responded are you gonna actually buy one!? And where's your cart!? Go get a cart first then ask!! And do you even have a reward card!? And as they were walking away he said under his breath "ugh...how annoying!" If there's anything I can say is that my children are not disrespectful kids. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying their lil saints because their not. But this man's remarks and rude tone of voice was absolutely out of line. And my darn kids wanted to leave the store because of him! And the funny thing is, is that in the past while shopping there with my mother she had issues with the same guy! I approached Jeffery myself and told him that I didn't appreciate the way he talked and treated my kids. And that if in the future he has an issue with any child he needs to address their parents not the kids!Now when I told him this, I wasn't yelling or causing a scene at all. But when he opened his mouth he had the nerve to start yelling at me saying "all he tried to do was help my kids and that he was going to get them a cart!" Which was a total lie because he was restocking the fish food. And I told him that he was darn liar. Because he surely wasn't moving in the direction of getting a cart which was fine because he was in the middle of something else. But him talking to my kids like that was unacceptable! As I was picking up the fish tank he tried prying it out of my hands "saying here let go and let me take it! At this point it was too late to be "helpful" and I didn't want or need this old buzzards help at this point! Then one of his coworkers stepped in and kept shouting out about 4x's "Jeff stop & walk away!" Jeff then stopped trying to pry the darn tank out of my hands and walked away still talking smack under his breath. I followed the coworker up to the front and asked him if Jeff is always like that? He said that Jeff isn't the best at responding to customers in the right tone of voice and it gets misinterpreted. I asked if I could talk to the manager and he told me that Jeff was the manager. Which is just awful and terrible to have a sorry excuse of an employee like that representing their company! As I was at the register about to pay I saw my son at the corner of one of the end caps near the dog stuff and this guy cornered my son and told him "I wasn't yelling at you or being rude to you guys and what you said is not true!" Omg... I just about lost my cool because even after I told him to leave my kids alone he still took it upon himself to corner and confront them! What the heck!! I called and asked to make an appointment with my groomer Evalinda and they told me she was no longer there so I decided to go ahead and give it a try with a different groomer. When I picked up my dog she wasn't too happy and neither was I with the cut. I asked if they knew where my groomer had gone and Alex rudely rolled her eyes at me and said no she didn't know and giggled about it and walked off to avoid the situation. Took my dog to get his nails trimmed.. I told them the my dog is afraid of strangers and getting his nails trimmed.. Even though it took 2 groomers to cut his nails.. i couldnt Thank them both for being so nice, understanding of my dogs needs and trying to make him feel as comfortable as possible.. I thought that because Petco is a chain, all stores would be more or less the same. Sadly, the Pasadena location on Arroyo Parkway is the only good Petco. This location is sad. Shelves are poorly stocked and there is a paltry selection of merchandise. At least it is clean and the staff are friendly, which is more than I can say about the Rosemead store. read more

I shop here for my two cats. I get them Halo which is an Awesome food that you can only get online or at petco. I use my Pals card for extra discount on their food and even get coupons on Halo's website - one of the managers there told me about it last time I bought their food she asked if I knew I could get coupons online and she told me where to go. That was really nice cus I love my coupons! it's bigger and nicer set-up than the San Dimas store which is actually closer to me but i like the West Covina store better. Don't listen to the other haters on here - I work retaill and can tell that most of the haters just want people to stop whatever their doing to do their shopping for them, yah - life doesn't work that way. The employee here won't sell me fish even after I told them that don't have a heater, but I have constant temperature in the house with a central heating and AC unit. Bad business model. I have fish all my life and I know what my fish need. After answering a zillion questions, they won't sell me fish. The service is terrible!! I came here last night looking for an xx-s sweater for my puppy, and online it said that it was in stock. When I got here, no one seemed to want to help me. When I asked an employee at the register to help me, she leaned out and was no help at all. I asked another employee, and he wouldn't help me either. Neither one of the employees checked the back stock when I asked if they could. If you don't have it in stock, then why would you say that you do online?! That makes no sense to me. The young lady who helped me didn't give me the time of day she rushed through the transaction and when asked if they priced matched which I just did 2 weeks ago she informed me they dont do price match as she just sat there. She was very kind and informative about Blondie's visit and what she needed more/less of along with everything they did during the session. I went to this store in West Covina to look at the cats in the cages and the smell of cat poop was overwhelming. It looked like the cat box had not been changed for a week! It's terrible that the three cats that were in there have to live in this environment. I brought to the attention of the cashier and she said that someone ( a volunteer) would be coming to clean out the box (however it looked like no one had been there for a while to clean it out). I would hope that going forward, management would be more attentive to keeping the cat litter box and surrounding area cleaner for these beautiful cats. read more

Do not book any grooming appointments with "Cassandra" or probably with Petco. Wasted my time. Booked on line 2 weeks before appt. Went on appt time and date, and "Cassandra" the assigned groomer made every excuse why she would not be able to groom my dog. I guess she does not have any confidence in her skills or abilities for grooming a 10 year old dog who has not needed to see a vet other than getting the necessary vaccinations. You want my vet to clear my dog for grooming??? WTF??? Guess what, was able to make same day appointment at Petsmart. Petsmart groomer did a great job and I tipped her big time. I waited a couple of days to calm down before writing this review. Otherwise....Stay away from Petco grooming in West Covina. read more

Puppy Training: Becky is the BEST! I have two small pups(boy and a girl) who just completed puppy training level 1 and this coming Monday they will begin level 2. Becky is very kind and patient in teaching the pups, AND the pup parents! (Often, it's us humans who need the training LOL). Becky is clear and concise in giving directions and makes the training fun. I was a little worried my girl pup was a lost cause, but with Becky's instruction and at home tips, she passed her puppy level 1 test with flying colors! Becky is very friendly and I appreciate that she lets me ask as many questions as I do, all the while with a smile! If you're looking into training, it doesn't get better than Becky! read more

Just came to check out some guinea pigs on 12/31/2018 at 3:10. After asking to see one, we waited 10 minutes in the small animal area and no one ever came. I walked to the cash register to see what the hold up was to see employees Victor, Valerie, and one other female employee just chit-chatting-- no customers in line. There was no reason why we should have not been helped yet. We decide to leave and walk right by them as we do so with no acknowledgement from the staff. Very lazy workers with no customer service. Being unsure of the size,I asked the employee on the floor a few questions about measurements and sizing and he very rudely responded "We don't provide that kind of service of measuring a dog,we don't do that here!" Are you kidding me?!?!?!? That employee must have the IQ of a leaf because he didn't listen to my question and I never in any moment ask him to measure my dog. Grooming department. I called to make an appointment for my 12 year old dog. They took down his info (name, breed, age, medical problems) and scheduled my dog. Day of appointment comes and I bring in my dog. The groomer says she feels uncomfortable grooming my dog and that their policy doesnt allow them to take old dogs. Yes, my dog has arthritis and weak back legs but I told them that when I made the appointment. She calls in her manager for a second opinion and he says the same thing. Ok, I get that there are store policies she has to follow and I respect that but why didn't she tell me when I called to make the appointment? If they don't groom senior dogs, why did they still give me the appointment after I specifically said he is 12 years old and has leg problems? My issue with the staff here is not that they refused to groom my dog. My problem is on top of wasting my time, I had to unnecessarily load and unload my huge dog in and out of the car 4 times. That was definitely stress my dog didn't need and could have easily been avoided had the person on the phone told me what their policy regarding older dogs were. read more

I bring my dogs here to get groomed by the amazing Bridget. She is fantastic with my dogs and it's reasonably priced. My pupps love her and so do I. My bigger dog sheds a lot and she spends a great deal of time getting all of the excess hair out of him. I will continue to bring my dogs to her - I'm a customer for life read more

Aside from the poor pup barking so loud from inside the kennel my little pup was fine. She gets nervous hearing other dogs in distress but the ladies handled it so well. They were so patient with us and I'm so grateful to the groomers at Petco. read more

Terrible. Just terrible. Let me tell you why I think this place is such a terrible place to go. I search on yelp to find a nearby petco to get a 5 gallon tank. I find this place, and think, "oh, it can't be too bad with 3 stars." I enter the store and walk to the fish department and look for 5 gallon tanks. I find it without any trouble, and decide I want to look at some fish while I'm here. I find some beautiful albino koi swordtails, so I ask an employee to help me get some fish. I wait, and nobody comes to help. I go for the second time and ask, and then I hear someone paging another employee to go to the fish department for help. Shortly after, an old man appears and asks what I want. I ask for 1 male and 2 females. He doesn't seem to know which one's a male and which one's a female so he asks me which one. I point out that I want the one with the long tail fin and two of the largest ones in there. This is what's hilarious. He starts trying to coax the fish to get into the net by making some tongue clicking noise. Ok, fishes do not come over and willingly go into a net if you coax them. They know they're getting caught, so they're busy running for their lives. He finally manages to catch all three fishes, and this is when I get upset. He asks what size tank I have, how many fishes I have, etc. He notices that I'm holding a 5 gallon tank and asks if I'm going to put them in there. Obviously, I'm not dumb enough to put three fairly large fish in a puny tank. I tell him that I have many tanks and these fish will go in my 40 gallon tank. He then "allows " me to buy the fish. I feel a little offended, and walk towards the cashier with my fishes and my tank. Then the cashier starts to ask the same exact questions except in a more obnoxious, demanding tone. He asks what size tank I have, and how many fishes I have. I tell him I have 5 fish in my 40 gallon tank. He looks straight at me and tells me that it's way too small. I repeat my words "5 fishes in a 40 gallon tank" in a more articulate and stern tone. He looks straight at me and says that for every 1 inch sized fish, you need 1 gallon. And I look at him confused because I have 5 fishes, each 1 inch, which means they should at least be in a 5 gallon tank. But they are in a 40 gallon tank. After a very long confused and offended look at the cashier, he finally realizes that 40 gallons is way more than enough for 5 fishes. He then looks at the 5 gallon tank I'm buying and asked why I'm buying this tank. I tell him it's and backup tank in case I need it. Now, here's why it was so offensive. First off, the cashier, who should be proficient in math, can't do simple math. Second, not even one employee bothered to ask how many years I've kept fishes. I have been keeping fishes all my life. I know about the basic care and even the advanced care for many of the common tropical fish species. Also, what makes petco employees think that the fishes will do any better in their tank system, which is way less than 5 gallons for 5 fishes, has a ton of chemicals trying to prevent any diseases they may carry, and a majority of the fishes die almost instantly in their care? A lot of the fishes there were already getting some type of fin rot. And another point I want to make is, tank size does not matter. As long as you know what you're doing, tank size does not matter. It's kind of like this: will you put one 1 inch fish in a 1 gallon tank? No, you wont. As long as you keep your water changes constant, there's no problem. A smaller tank will require more water changes to keep it clean. A larger tank requires a smaller amount of water to be changed. I just don't appreciate the method that these employees use. Petco doesn't have the right to ask customers about what they're going to do with their purchased items. That's our privacy. read more

All the groomers are very nice and patient with my dog who is a little wiggle worm. Especially Cassandra, who takes the extra time as not to put even more pressure on my dog, who really doesn't like her nails cuts. I used to have a Mobile Dog Groomer come to my house, which spoiled me and my dog, because it took only about 35 - 40 mins for the whole grooming process. With Cassandra it does take about 2 hours, but again, she is so good with her its so worth the wait, plus I can get my grocery shopping out of the way in time to go pick up my dog. read more

Amazingly, the service here is getting better. This place is not a great pet store, but trying harder. When I used to come in here, there would be puddles, and dead fish, and when I would point them out, the staff would not do anything about it. I always wonder why I can''t get a job in here, I do love animals, but then I realized, I am probably not stupid enough to work here. I went in here yesterday to get some plants for my turtle. The girl that helped me was very nice and thorough, I wish she was there more often. I wanted to get some other stuff for my turtle but it was too pricey for my budget. I will never return here again. I scheduled an appointment Saturday at 9am. I get there at 9am. The groomer tells me that they've tried to reach out to me multiple time through email and calling me. My number has been changed but my email is up to date. She tells me I can reschedule for Thursday. At this point I'm getting upset so I just leave. I call the store and ask to speak to the manager. I tell her the issue she says did they give you a reason on why they had to reschedule I said no. Now She says she is was going to see what happen with the groomer's lead. She said she was sorry and didn't know what happened so so she puts me on hold ...I've been on hold for about 10 minutes already. At this point I'm over it, all I wanted was my dog to get a bath and trimmed. I'm still on hold and the phone disconnected so I called back and was placed on hold again. The manager comes back on the phone and says I can come at 11:30 and any service I want will be 50% off from the groomers but it's not the point. The point is I had an appointment scheduled that's the point Please don't come to this place don't waste your time and gas. read more

Tucked in a small plaza, this place has pretty much all the general stuff I need for my dogs. After work, I go here to get my things. Since I'm trying to go to healthy route with my dogs, this place is my one stop shop for dog food. I find no problems with the shop. Every time I come in, I'm comfortably greeted by at least one of their store employees and I'm asked if I've been helped. Where do I start. We are furious. Brought our 2 dogs to get a wash and groom and the groomer ALEX completely ruined our dogs. We always come here to get our dogs groomed but today they assigned this woman named ALEX to our dogs. Apparently we foiund out afterwards that she's new. If she's new, at least let us know beforehand. We absolutely would not let this trainee groom our dogs. This groomer has an attitude problem. Not only is she unprofessional and unhelpful, but she REALLY sucks at grooming. We showed her a picture of exactly how we want our dogs to look like and she turned our two cute dogs into 2 things looking like rats. Not only that, may I add that she made a mistake and accidentally shaved off an entire chunk of my dogs hair underneath the neck? My dogs neck had a weird chunk of bald hair and skin irritation from this woman's mistake. Good thing we examined our dog, because she wasn't going to disclose it to us. This b*tch said she wouldn't charge us, and said we could take our dogs but one of our dogs was still in the middle of being groomed and she had no intention whatsoever to finish up the shit job that she started. Really? You were gonna let our dog walk out the door being half groomed? Where's your professionalism woman? Not once did she apologize. In fact, she gave us attitude and turned her back on us the whole time. Such immaturity. Petco, why are you hiring such unprofessional people like her to work at and represent your store? Her coworker had to apologize on behalf of her because this woman couldn't even face us. She probably was too ashamed and embarrassed to give us back our dogs looking like that. What a horrible experience. We've been to sooooo many different groomers, and by far this lady is the worst. My dogs look like a five year old gave them a haircut. Anyways, done venting.
