Always excited when more Chinese restaurants pop up in Baltimore city. I believe Peter Chang also owns NiHao, so there are a lot of overlapping menu items. I've never dined inside of NiHao, but I've gotten takeout many times and the interior is modern, similar to Peter Chang Baltimore. Typically speaking, Chinese restaurants don't put much effort in their decor and ambiance, but I can appreciate that it matters to PC. They don't have waiters working here, so you order with the cashier, and they have people bring out the food for you. They also clean up after you (so make sure to tip!). We've been here a couple of times now, trying a myriad of things. One of my favorite items is the vegan Szechuan Cold Noodles. It has the perfect amount of spice and the cold temperature is perfect on a hot summer's day. The sliced carrot, cucumber and scallions gives the dish a nice refreshing color. I'm also a huge fan of lo mein in general, so their take on it was very enjoyable. Big pieces of chicken, beef and shrimp. The spicy beef noodle soup was too spicy for me. It numbed my taste buds and I was just sweating and couldn't really enjoy the dish. For those of you who love spicy foods, I think you'll enjoy this dish. My family is from Taiwan, so whenever I'm there and eat it, it's never really spicy, but more flavorful. To finish off your meal, try the Sweet Black Sesame Egg Yolk Bao. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very good food, friendly staff, open/clean space. It's near Hopkins so the location isn't the greatest, but it's near other surrounding businesses. read more

We've been visiting this location of Peter Chang since the week they opened, and it's consistently great. The pan fried chive shrimp dumplings are my favorite, I think - but still working our way through the menu (with a try one new thing each time rule). Good soup dumplings, wonderfully fluffy bao, and truly spicy Szechuan offerings. Bring a handful of people and split lots of dishes - the service is quick, the decorations are cute. read more

Another Peter Chang triumph! It's pretty hard to find good dim sum in Baltimore, so this is a welcome addition to our city. And the fact that it is a Peter Chang restaurant makes it incredible. But you can also get his famous Peking Duck and other dishes here. Even something simple like dry fried green beans were elevated because of the unique seasonings. The service is unparalleled. It's really convenient that you can order at the counter and then sit down to have your food delivered. You can also order at a kiosk for carryout or at a kiosk for dine-in. Amazing place close to Hopkins! We stopped here for a work lunch today, Peter Chang just opened a new branch. We had a great time! We ate delicious pork soup, dumpling, eggplant with garlic, and spicy beef marble with oyster mushroom. Everything was prepared well and served beautifully.... The spice levels were perfect. Being a new restaurant near the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus I was eager to try them. It was a bit disappointing that the self-service style required a counter-top order from a cashier that would barely look up at you from her cell phone to take your order. What drinks do you have I asked, we only have tea, water and coffee? and then I found a drink menu was abruptly tossed on the counter in front of me, the cashier not feeling me to be valued enough to look at. This theme of customer disinterest persisted during my food order. However, the food itself was good and was enough to counter the complete lack of service. I have not had an opportunity to swing by in person yet, so this review is just for the food - and specifically the DanDan noodles. They are a dish that I love, and generally tricky to find around here. They had great flavor, a healthy amount of spice, nailed the sauce to noodle ratio, and were far less expensive than other options on the menu. I will absolutely be ordering from here again, and while I will update this review once I try other things, I know for the foreseeable future I'll be back to scarfing down the DanDan noodles exclusively. read more

Solid dimsum place right by the Hopkins hospital. Came by with some friends for lunch on Sunday and left with a full, content stomach. Between the five of us we ordered seven dishes (a mix of dimsum, entrees, and veggies) and it was plenty! Each bite was flavorful without being too overwhelming. The menu is very similar to that of Nihao (owned by the same owners) in Canton but thought the dishes somehow tasted better here at Peter Chang. For example, the chili fish filet dish here had the extra tarty flavor that the one at Nihao missed out on. It is a sit down restaurant but with a casual vibe as you find your own seats and order at the counter. You also need to get your own water, utensils, serving utensils, napkins etc which I can see could be a hassle if coming with a bigger crowd but it was no big deal for us. Finally got to try Peter Chang's newest restaurant in Baltimore and it did not disappoint! When you walk in, it has the feel of a fast food joint. There are cute whimsical little paintings and signs hanging on the walls. You order at the counter and grab your own plates and utensils, and even get a number for your table. But the food, although it comes out very fast, is nothing short of excellent. The menu is similar to Ni Hao but with a focus on bubble tea instead of booze. I've never seen a fast food dim sum place before, but not only does this work, it works well! We tried the honey pork BAO, soup dumplings, bok choy, cold noodles, dan Dan noodles, black egg buns, and sticky rice and everything was delicious! The bok choy and the black egg buns in particular stood out to me. It is super close to Hopkins and with how fast their service is, I will definitely be coming back on my lunch break! read more

We made reservations for a special occasion, and were seated a half hour late; the waiter basically shrugged and told us not to bother with ordering drinks - 'too much backup at the bar'. The servers brought our food - entrees first, appetizers at the end of the meal. We were told 'you get what you get when you get it' when we protested. and were basically being rushed out of the place. poor planning for a crowded evening, and abject disregard for the customer. Came here Sunday with my fiancé. The food was pretty good. We got the honey bbq pork bao bun, pork soup dumplings, black sesame egg yolk bun and cumin beef skewers. The beef cumin skewers were very fatty and a little difficult to chew. Everything else, we would get again, especially the black sesame egg yolk bun. Really incredible food. We ordered the veggie dumpling, pork soup dumplings, Szechuan popcorn chicken, scallion egg fried rice, chili oil braised flounder, and the dry fried green beans. The Szechuan popcorn chicken was definitely the best. A little hint of sweetness, but good spice to balance it out. I just had their osmanthus honey pork ribs with rice as takeout and added my own leftover vegetables after I brought it home. The ribs were great, and I liked the sauce it came with too. Went here with my friend on a whim for dinner and we were blown away. Every dish was so flavorful and delicious. We went back and kept ordering more after we'd finish. This is more of a cafe than a restaurant, and the flavors were a disappointment. The food has been milded down, I guess for American tastes. Dan Dan noodles, a favorite of mine, was really noodles in gravy with a sprinkling of overcooked pork. Jianghu pepper numbing chicken, while spicy, had no Szechuan peppercorns that I could taste. Excellent food! The main entree portions are large enough for sharing. Recommend the hot sour soup, honey pork bao, mapo tofu and the chili oil braised flounder. A word of caution, the Chili flounder is quite spicy. They have vegetarian options, but so far we've only tried the hot sour soup and the mapo tofu which were both really really good. For dessert, a special treat would be the black sesame egg yolk bao. It is a warm dessert and you have to be careful not to bite into it too quickly as it is served fresh and steaming hot.
