Why are so many take out paces closed on Monday? Maybe it's to get me to try restaurants I wouldn't normally give a chance. I REALLY needed the comfort of Americanize Chinese food. One of those cravings that lasts for days. And, of course, I decided I couldn't hang on any longer on a Monday, which is when my currently-top favorite Chinese place is closed. Ordered on GrubHub, but for pick up. I've read too many reviews where delivery services make a much-looked-forward-to meal into a tremendous disappointment. I won't even roll those dice. A Chinese place has to serve Shrimp Toast or I won't even consider it. I've traveled to so many states where you can't find shrimp toast. Jeremy's dad lives in North Dakota, and loves shrimp toast but hasn't been able to find it in a decade, so when we went on vacation with him to Orlando, Jeremy packed all his cooking supplies, and wok so he could MAKE shrimp toast for his dad. It was so funny because Jeremy's step-mom insisted that she didn't like shrimp toast because she hadn't known until that very day that her husband LOVED it. The shrimp toast at Oriental Wok is very tasty, though remarkably rotund. I'm used to shrimp toast that looks like toast, not like a samosa. They're DELICIOUS though. Slightly greasy, but that's to expect from something that is dunked in the deep fry. We also had fried dumplings - really good, but nothing unique. I'd get them again, but that's because most dumplings are mid-level and I am satisfied with that. And crab rangoon that was THICCC. I've never seen such over-stuffed crab rangoons. However, the dipping sauce is absolute trash, heavy on the ketchup. I had some pretty great General Tso's chicken, that remained tender even after microwaving the leftovers the next day. You know how a lot of General Tso's becomes incredibly stringy the next day? Not here. But the broccoli was SO HARD. I microwaved them at least three times and it still hurt to chew, which was a disappointment because I love take out Chinese steamed broccoli. Jeremy had a Szechuan dish and a double pork dish, but neither were memorable. He eats all the meat and leaves me to the veg, which I will eat for lunch for days afterward, usually with mashed potatoes (hey, seriously, try it). One dish had a gazillion rock-hard pieces of carrots that hurt my teeth, the other had those lightening bolt carrot slices that I wish I could like, but never hold any sauce flavor. One had cabbage, the other did not. The thing that caused us the most excitement was their choice of Chinese mustard suppliers, though. THEY HAVE DEATH STAR MUSTARD!!! Yes, I know you probably don't know what I'm talking about, but there's this specific brand and their logo is a sphere that sorta-kinda looks like the Death Star. Don't believe me, consult my photos. All other Chinese mustard packets takes like a rubber hose. Death Star mustard actually has a bit of a kick from something that hits like wasabi or horseradish. It is a joy to find it once again! I applaud Oriental Wok for hitting so many of my requirements. read more

This is my go to Chinese restaurant, as they offer free delivery. The delivery is *extremely* slow (talking like an hour plus everytime), so make sure to order in advance. I'm my opinion, they have some of the best price vs portion of any chinese restaurant in the area. The combo platters are a MASSIVE portion of your main choice, as well as a huge side of pork rice or lo mein and one pork egg roll. They also are always very accommodating when I special request to have a veggie egg roll, as I do not eat meat. All in all, the food is delicious, the portions are huge, and the price is great. Legit the best Chinese food in Baltimore if not the DMV. I rarely rush to type reviews after one meal, especially right afterwards. I had to do this because it has that special Cantonese touch that is virtually nonexistent these days. First of all, the ingredients are super fresh that the vegetables alone in my shrimp with mixed vegetables is worthy of being an entree alone without protein - the veg was perfectly cooked, not raw or slimy, nor was it swimming in gelatinous or watery sauce. The seasoning was beyond perfect. I definitely taste the msg but msg tastes good and the allergy thing is a myth (glutamate is a natural neurotransmitter and sodium is an essential nutrient.) There was a good amount of shrimp and they still use jumbo shrimp in lunch specials. The fried rice is actually properly seasoned and not too greasy - I asked for no pork and they fulfilled the request. Lo mein is not too salty and drowning in grease and there is a good amount of shrimp. The egg roll was nice and crisp and well seasoned. They didn't throw excessive amounts of condiment packets, cookies, and napkins I'll only throw out. Above all the food came hot and is well priced. I am super duper pleased and I know oriental wok will be my go to carryout joint. read more

I called the restaurant and complained about it the person that answer the phone basically argue with me and said that I was lying. And I told them that I don't like my food no need to argue with me I would like my money back or something for the same value. The man on the phone basically said no, I will give you your money but you have to bring the food up here. Which is bullcrap because they were the ones who delivered my food to me. I did not make sense for me to bring the food to them to get my money back when they could have just had the driver when he was in the area bring me my money back. The Pros: Solid Price Point, Pork Fried Rice, Decent portions. The Cons: Everything else. I will start on a positive note and say I usually really enjoy their pork fried rice and their egg rolls. But I have ordered from them 3-4 times now and am noticing a trend. The General Tsos is 90% breading. The Pepper Steak with onions is 90% peppers and onions with essence of steak. I thought it was maybe because I ordered a combination platter, so when I ordered the full dish and noticed the same trend, I knew it was the restaurant just cutting corners for profit. I've ordered delivery from here about half a dozen times and every time, I've been impressed with the taste, quality, and quantity. Add the online menu for easy no-mistakes ordering and you have a winner. This is the best Chinese carryout that I've had since I've moved to Baltimore. It seems that good authentic Chinese food is not in high demand in good ol B'more. A nice selection of dishes. Not quite a 5-star but close...minus small points for inconsistent delivery times. A lot of Chinese Food Restaurants boast about a dish or have #1 in their title, this is legit the best Chinese food you are going to get in Baltimore. North, East, South or West side O-Wok (as I like to call it) takes the cake. Only dish I've ever had that wasn't phenomenal is the Egg Foo Young. It taste great but, sometimes the patties are a little burned. Now this isn't the spot you want to take your lady and have an intimate meal, I highly advise carry out. The if you are a fan of General Tso's Or Orange Chicken you will be in heaven. I lived on the East & West side worked in Sourh Baltimore, went to school Downtown and Uptown and this is hands down the best Chinese food you can find. The pricrs are low as well. We tried this for the first time. It took over an hour and 15 minutes to come and I had to call twice because the delivery was supposed to come between 9:35-9:45 but didn't come till 10:15. Thankfully they answered the phone so that's better than being completely left hanging. When the food arrived I got sesame chicken instead of beef. It was still hot despite the delay. In general the food was good, not great but it was good. And for that reason we're not completely crossing them from our list. On 5/5 I ordered $47 in food from here. I ordered late and it got to me around 11:30 p.m. Having just moved I didn't get to eating until after midnight. I was eating and enjoying my beef with snow peas. As I was getting to the bottom of the container (read "After I'd eaten 99% of the dish"), I saw something wrapped around a piece of beef. At first I thought it was maybe the stem of an herb or some such. As I looked closer, and pulled it out, it was a ribbon of steel from a cleaning pad. I'm not talking about a strand of steel wool (which would have been bad enough). But a ribbon of steel that could have gashed my gums, sliced my tongue open, or worse had I swallowed it. It was too late to call. But I had errands the next day so I decided I would stop there and talk to them in person. I went in and explained what happened, showing them my OrderUp email receipt. The man I was talking to goes in the back and holds up the scrubber saying that it had come from that and that the pan had been scrubbed right before making my food. Then he said, "I'm sorry." And that's all he said. To his credit, he said it 3 or 4 times. But that's all he said. He made no attempt to make it right. He didn't offer to refund that dish. He didn't so much as offer a free spring roll to make up for the fact that it's pure luck I didn't eat it and end up with a law suit against them. A cut mouth is the mildest injury that could have resulted. Had I swallowed it, it could have perforated my intestines significantly endangering my life. Clearly they make so much money from everyone else they can afford to not care about endangering customers from time to time. read more

I usually order on Eat 24, and they are here within in 30-45 minutes, so I just give myself time. This is the worst China food I've had in Baltimore to date. The food simply tastes terrible. The chicken has a weird gamey taste to it, which is mind blowing because its fucking chicken. The sauces they use for seasoning are miserable. The egg rolls are dry. The baby corn bursts with a strange, watery, bad tasting fluid when you bit into it. I will say that its good for satisfying hunger, because it completely takes away your appetite as soon as you begin to eat. Avoid at all costs, there is no saving this food. They take credit cards over the phone, they'll tell you 45 minutes but it's usually faster than that (we've gotten as quick as 15 minutes before, and the only time it took longer than 45 was during a snow storm so who can blame them). Let's face it, the only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars from me is that in the end it's Chinese delivery food. But that said, it's always hot, good, and fast so what more can you say.
