Great dive bar with food that you would expect to be at a dive bar (sandwiches, burgers, beer). Baseball game was playing when I went -- my friend and I sat at the bar. When I asked if I could get a sandwich without cheese, the bartender replied "I don't care. get whatever you want." Pretty much sums this place up. read more

Alcohol is alcohol. Very divey. Maybe it's not the perfect place to hang out on Cinco de Mayo, but it's still a cool place.

Great service and foods amazing in this little nook bar restaurant. Irish bars usually have good food but this ones worth the wait. Tons of locals having a pint and eating. Don't walk by this place. Family friendly and your glass is never empty. Not a fancy white glove place, a bit run down, but it all fits perfectly in place. This place seemed very chill, and had a nice seating area in the back. A good selection of beers on tap. Was a bit disappointed with the food though; the chicken fingers were very average, and the cheese fries were a bit bland (really they just serve steak fries with square slices of melted cheese on top). read more

The food is whatevers. but I dig the atmosphere of a divey pub full of down to earth people. during this business trip, me and my partner in crime actually found our own time on a friday night to sit down and rewind and have some fun amongst ourselves. coming here was a good idea because it was close to where we were staying and we got to walk around chelsea a bit afterward. read more

It is you typical Irish bar. Strangely, my first time here was on Cinco de Mayo looking for margaritas. The bartenders are nice but I did find one interaction to be a little aggressive when I misunderstood what he was saying. Other than that it was all good. The drinks were a bit pricey for the type of bar I thought. The decor was pretty cool though with old time phone boxes. read more

Went here last night with a few friends for Happy Hour and had a great time! It's a cute old bar that isn't "touristy" The bartender was very friendly....and Smithwicks was doing a promotion and was giving away tons of free beer...how could it get and better? BUT IT DID....I ordered a cheeseburger (safe bet in a bar) and WOW....it was probably the best burger I've had in awhile...I will be back.... read more

An unapologetic small town atmosphere with great cheese fries! It's a nice spot if you want to sit down to have a conversation and some Diner food with your drink. The service is fantastic. It is an old corner bar located in Chelsea that has that old Irish pub feel. I tried the chilli and it was great.

After a long day of Christmas shopping my sibling and I decided to look for Amy place near by to satisfy our grumbling stomachs . We fell a upon this Irish bar restaurant. I enjoyed the cheerful atmosphere of the people and good service. Fresh pot of coffee and delicious chicken fingers and steak fries. The burgers were ok ,but the chicken fingers are exactly what I believe a chicken finger should be.. Not frozen breaded fast food . Prices are reasonable . I really would like to try a steak next time or one of the delightful specials .. Since it's a bar maybe 1 drink . read more

Comfy bar with folks of all ages. Just the way bars used to be in a now long gone NYC. The jukebox was playing Black Sabbath when I walked in, so I knew I was going to love this place. My favorite bar in the city. Random celebrity sightings, old crazy people (who were probably regulars when they were YOUR age), and cops and firemen! I'd stick to the shot-and-a-beer type ordering, and don't order at the bar and bring your drink into the dining room (or risk being humiliated). Some of the bartenders are pretty good-looking too. If you're relaxed and friendly, you may just have a good time. read more

The perfect "go fuck yourself" New York bar. The beer and food is perfect and cheap ($10 pitchers of Bud Light). It draws a cool crowd, lots of improv actors, former streetwalkers, and good old tough guys. The waitstaff just loves to hate you/life. Accepting makes it funny but if you are caught off guard you'll get grumpy. Don't take beers from the bar to the tables or you will get yelled at. Don't wave down a waitress if she is "already fucking busy." And don't sit at a table with used glasses and plates on it or you can "get the fuck out." But seriously, they are the only unhappy people at the bar, so go for the fun times, cheap beer, and light abuse. read more

The hamburger is really great and comes with bacon, a thick slice of tomato, pickles, lettuce and steak fries. There's a nice, thick patty and it's usually cooked perfectly and a toasted brioche bun. And it all goes well with a chilled pint of Guinness. read more

if i lived in new york, i'd be here always. it's not the six dollar bottled blue moon that does it, though. it's the friggin awesome atmosphere. everyone was so chill. i'm a huge "eff these snots" type of person, as i'm someone that doesn't really have a stereotype and don't appreciate people that TRY to be a stereotype, and i didn't get that feeling here. does this make any sense? i guess what i'm trying to say is that this place isn't a place only for hipsters or only for ya doods or something like that. it's for everybody, YAY! the chicken fingers are good, especially when it's been a long ass day and you're food deprived and drunk. the tater tots are excellent. i don't know if my friend (who is a semi-regular) had to say anything special to get them this way, but they definitely brought her crispy crowns as opposed to the traditional tot. crispy crowns are the shit. i didn't feel under- or over-dressed. there were a ton of people but i didn't feel cramped. the bathroom was a bit small and therefore seemed slightly dirty, but it's hard to keep a small bathroom clean, especially on a friday night with a bunch o' drunks. the drinks are strong, though a bit small, but i don't know how much my rum and diet cost because i didn't pay for it (yessssss). i'd say it was pretty comparable to any drink in any major city, although i've had larger. that is, in fact, what she said. this is rather disjointed and i don't think i was in the mood to write today. regardless, this place was pretty awesome. read more

Went here last night to try out the fish and chips. All out! So I had a cheese burger. I was pleasantly surprised at the great burger! It was a thick, crumbly burger with lots of juice, but not grease. Oh, and the onion rings were really great too! A great place to grab a beer and some decent pub food! My local pub. Not good for groups, often filled with hordes of NYU or club kids from next door, a SNL cast member sighting here and there, not great food but great french fries...you get the point. It's not the greatest place in the world, but it's home. read more

It's so close to my house I'm willing to venture there even on the coldest nights, a dive with an ever changing cast of characters and the always present regulars, I've heard the cheese fries are good, they always look good and I always want to try them, but oh I try to be healthy, and sucking down smithwicks is probably not the best way to do it! I won't go over territory covered in other reviews other than to say this is a great dive bar, in fact it's the very model of what a New York dive bar should be. And when I say dive I mean it with the highest of compliments. Feel free to substitute the term "neighborhood bar" if that helps. Definitely seems more like they keep recommending it to seem edgy and like they're in the know with an untraditional choice, but service was friendly enough. read more

Great neighborhood establishment! I love the food, the service and the new flat screen TVs in the dining area. They have the best Grilled Cheese in Manhattan and the atmosphere is one of comfort and recognition. I live across the street, so perhaps I'm biased. Definitely stop in and have a bite to eat or a pitcher of beer! read more
