I've been eating at Peter Woo's since 1998 and I must say they have the best chinese food around. Being a long term customer i have had the opportunity to speak with the owners and i have seen the same customer base for the past decade. Great customer service from their long term waiters Tony and Gene and old fashioned Chinese conversation back and forth to the kitchen. So as a rebut to some of the erroneous comments below i have to say... The comment about the meat in the soup...Guaranteed never happened. The kitchen does not speak English and the owner/waiters only speak Chinese to the kitchen. She would have never heard him ask in English anything...nevermind receive and English answer from NON-English speaking staff. lol This place is one of the absolute cleanest Chinese food places ive ever been to. The water system has a double filtration system, the silverware is double washed every single time (ive never had dried food stuck to a single fork or spoon) and the bathroom is SPOTLESS all of the time. I go there for the service and food. Tony and Gene are responsive, friendly and always smiling. But just like movie critics, food critics suck...walk in and see for yourself. Judge a place by the cleanliness of the bathroom and enough said! All in all...Great food, large portions, cheap eats (They have raised their prices once in the last 10 years and only by $1.00 at most), clean and nice environment. This place is really great. Recommend it. China Pearl is terrible compared to this place. They work hard to survive out in life. They get paid low but they still work their butts off. They are very pleasant and kind. They will sometimes make you laugh too. It has a great atmosphere. Hei La Moon, China Pearl, etc. Don't go there. They are overcrowded, dirty, filled with rodents. Come to Peter Woo's for cheap Chinese Food. You can also order takeout. The best employee right there at this moment would probably be Tony. He is the best and he works his butt of to support his family too as he told me. Everyone speaks Chinese (mostly Cantonese and Tiashanese dialect there) and English. Drop by anytime to get food. The restaurant closes at 1 AM (after midnight) I believe and opens at 5:00 AM. The food there isn't bad at all. It is great. There are also specials there that aren't on the menu. Ask for Tony's Broccoli or another special. They are amazing. There is a small bar there as well if you want to grab a little drink (but not to much because you might drive home). I've been dining at Peter Woo's for years and although I have tried other Chinese Restaurants locally and in Chinatown in Boston I can't imagine having Chinese food anywhere else. The food is absolutely delicious and it's obvious you're not getting yesterdays leftovers. My favorites is the Peking Ravioli and I've never had Crab Rangoon anywhere that can even come close to Peter's. There lunch and dinner menu's are awesome. Everything is so delicious. The Restaurant itself is welcoming and friendly. Service is excellent and he has a wonderful staff working there. When friends visit from out of town and have wanted to go to Chinatown for Chinese I bring them to Peter's and I often bring my family there for dinner. Everyone loves the food and the atmosphere. It's also a great place to relax and have a couple of drinks and chat with some of the locals who gather. No matter what your plans, this place offers a great option for an enjoyable time out. read more

I dined in at Peter Woo's yesterday. The bartender was a nice, the food wasn't bad. Spicy wings were great! However, the patrons at the bar that appeared to maybe be regulars were absolutely atrocious and racist!!! I was beside myself that the bartender of asian decent and the guy that kept coming out from the back that appeared to be Arabic actually never said a word to "Maureen" and the others sitting in that establishment, discussing how much they hated Marty Walsh, Mass is too liberal of a state. If things don't change they most likely would move to another state. How blacks are lazy and worthless, only good to collect food stamps, martial law can't wait for that to happen. They shoyld take away everyone's masshealth etc, etc, etc...I was so disappointed that the staff would allow this conversation to be so blatant. I am a latina, I am a RN, I am educated. BEST. PLACE. EVER. The service isn't bad at all. The people there are great, service is good, and is active. There is a large bar in it, 8-9 tables and nice meals on the menu. Tony (a.k.a. Huo or Sing) is great. He is pleasant and careful working. Gene is good too. He is the same as Tony. He doesn't make you wait a lot. The food there is cheap. These people are hard working people. They are all Asian. They do speak English and Chinese. I recommend when you are feeling for Chinese food, you better quickly drive to Revere and order some from the actual place. Nice atmosphere (that's why). In conclusion, #1 Chinese place is Massachusetts. #2 would be Crown Royal Bakery in Chinatown. Hei La Moon isn't good like China Pearl. Ordered horrible customer service and delivery after waiting 1 hour and 40 minutes called 3 times 1 person hung up on me second lied third time told it just going out really now it's going to be prone over an 2 hour wait and cold food wouldn't waive the delivery fee or take something off on my bill and where good customers lady guarentees the food will be hot yea ok bc if we called 1 hour and 49 minutes ago and food just going out wonder if it was just sitting there and the lady was rude claims she runs the place and I ask her to have the driver just leave the food and she tells me no I have the right to have no contact delivery horrible service horrible customer service rude jerks read more

I'm happy to say Red Rose gets both of these right! The Peking ravioli and moo shu were exactly what I was hoping for--traditional, old-school American Chinese food the way I remember it. We also ordered the boneless spare ribs, and everything was delicious. This is really more of a takeout spot than a sit-down restaurant, but that's exactly what we were looking for. We picked up our order, and it was ready quickly and packed really well. My only complaint: the large moo shu order was $17.95 and came with only 4 pancakes, even though the menu says 5. I definitely expected more than four for a large order. Overall, though, I was really pleased. It's great to find a place that still does these classic dishes the traditional American Chinese Food way. I'll definitely be back when I'm looking for these items... next to try is their egg foo young. Those are really the only dishes I get at no -traditional Chinese restaurants.
