However, you must try the salt and pepper chicken wings and the Singapore mai-fun. Both dishes are really special. Also try getting the ham fried rice rather than your go-to pork fried rice. The meat is a little softer and can easily turned into dirty rice for left overs. The portions are on the large side so I alway have left overs. Quick order Chinese in Chelsea. I got the small Shrimp Lo Mein and for $7.50, it was a decent portion. A little on the bland side and I'm not sure that all of the shrimps were completely cooked (they shouldn't be even a little transparent) but I risked it and was fine. I didn't love the texture of the beef (beef with broccoli and beef teriyaki sticks) and the rice and lo mein didn't have that much flavor to them despite seeming to have plenty of ingredients. The Kung Po chicken was alright but was not spicy (as implied by the menu) and had a lot of veggies, not a lot of chicken. Also the new lunch special info on the website is misleading; the options are much more limited (as of Aug and Sept '22). So I was caught off guard when I arrived and realized that there wasn't really a lunch special that I wanted. As others have mentioned, the guy at the counter is very difficult to understand but I have been able to order successfully. Beef with broccoli - good flavor but somehow still not that enjoyable to eat; probably wouldn't get again. This is what I've been looking for since moving from my hometown 5 years ago. The chinese food here feels like it has a latin fusion to it with the rice. It's perfect in my opinion. Being relatively new to Chelsea we were looking for some great takeout to fuel our cravings for more-than-you-can-eat Chinese night. And we are so glad we found Chung Wah. We keep getting the same order with a few variations, but I would definitely recommend their chicken wings - so delicious and crispy! Boyfriend always gets the Wonton and while he wishes they had hot chili oil it's still amazing and we add our own. The dinner combo plates are enough for two with an appetizer, and their Hunan chicken is fresh, has a great sauce and an awesome selection of vegetables with some of the BEST pork fried rice. It also comes with your choice of a small side appetizer, and you HAVE to get the pork egg roll. It is HUGE, and the shredded pork inside is incredible. Chung Wah is that place you go to because of three things: 1. Good food 2. Entertainment (both customers and the guy taking the orders) 3. Convenience First off, the food here is pretty good for what it is. Cheap neighborhood Chinese food. The rice is different here though. Instead of the brown soy sauce infused rice you get a spanish style looking yellow rice. It still tastes pretty good. There are tons of different options to get and specials all over the place. I'm a sucker for the half chicken and fries. The soups here are also damn good. I get the wonton soup for the wife whenever she is sick. Always works for her. The customers here are some of the best you'll find around. From the hipsters that are gentrifying the area to the crack head trying to score a $2 special. The guy who takes the orders is also a trip. He can't speak or understand English that well which is fine but most of the clientele can't either. So watching them go back and forth on the ordering is non-stop hilarity. This place is right in the center of Bellingham Sq. so basically in the heart of Chelsea. Please do not waste your time or money. Just moved to Chelsea and this was our first stop because we needed some quick food. Ordered the lunch special chicken and broccoli, which is supposed to come with beef fried rice and soup. First off, no side of soup. Second, the fried rice was actually white rice. Third, the main dish was not edible. Two of us took a bite and thought it was gross. We didn't eat it. The white rice turned out to be the only thing edible. most of their dishes are average, I even doubt that they were actually cooking stuffs in same way, for example, I ordered garlic chicken and kang pao chicken, I cannot tell the difference. What's more, their pork fried rice is way too sweet. But the reason I gave them 4 stars is that they really have some good food, something that must try: their fried chicken was extremely good, I never had such juicy and delicious fried chicken. Their spare ribs were also good, and am I forget the lobster sauce? In a word, try their side dishes instead of entrees. Worst service ever! One of the guys who answers the phone always puts you on hold and doesn't speak English, it's a nightmare trying to understand him and you have to repeat your order so many times and sometimes in slow motion.
