I love Chinese food and appreciate a good value which I didn't get here at Ho Win Palace. I ordered sweet and sour chicken. The sauce was delicious it was a thick red sauce. The vegetables were scarce it had two very tiny pieces of bell pepper one green and one red and a few onion. The battered chicken was huge but under the mountain of batter was a skimpy little piece of chicken, at least it was white meat. I took one bite and the chicken morsel all came out. We ordered off their brochure at our hotel. The food did not arrive hot. The market price lobster for $34+ was disappointing/ where was the lobster meat? I saw and tasted basically shell. The shrimp came heavily battetef and looked like an overstuffed onion ring. The sauce was tasty, Their white rice and Happy family entree with chicken, beef, shrimp and scallops with vegetables was the best of the main dishes. Unpretentious American-Chinese food in a setting that seemingly hasn't changed since the 90's. Reasonable prices and the dishes we ordered were really garlic-forward (which I looove). Very tasty. They have a full bar and unexpectedly good 'vacation' drinks like Mai Tai and Painkillers. Our bartender was friendly and welcoming - fantastic service all around. Also, great place to watch sports. I can understand being thrown off if you're looking for authenticity. Head a little further into Medford for that. But this is a classic old school regional suburban American Chinese restaurant - which is slowly becoming an endangered cuisine in its own way. These dishes were a huge staple in my childhood and I associate with so many fond memories. Ho Win did a great job and resonated with me. Got their lunch special takeout which was a pretty great deal for only about $12 they gave a generous serving of pork fried rice and kung pao chicken. The food came out quick, only waited about 5-10 minutes after ordering. The inside has a bar with sports playing as well as some small seating tables. The pork in the fried rice was juicy and fatty and the fried rice was not dry. Note that there were some ridges in the takeout container so it may seem like more in the photo, but it was still a generous portion. The crab rangoons were not greasy and felt like they were baked, good amount of stuffing. Will definitely be back to have their lunch special deals! read more

I'm a Chelsea resident who was searching for a nice Chinese take out. And we were disappointed and disgusted to find un clean shrimp in our fried rice! I personally think this is unacceptable and very off putting. I usually don't make reviews but I'm upset at the quality considering how much we spent. We did enjoy the chicken teriyaki which came on skewers and was pretty tasty. I had friend over tonight and they stopped at Ho Win Palace for Chinese food. Usually when they come over, we get food from Mandarin Restaurant as I live in Reading, right next to Mandarin. But that place has raised their prices since Covid and the food has totally gone down hill. This was my first time eating food from Ho Win and I cannot say enough good things about this place. EXCELLENT food. My friends had ordered fried rice which was not in the bag. We called Ho Win and they actually delivered the rice from Everett to Reading AND gave us two huge portions. They were so nice on the phone and in person. I'm not a fan of crab rangoon, but Ho Win's was really good. The prices are reasonable, food is great and service is wonderful. I've been coming to Ho's for about 11 years, when it was owned by the previous owners (when it was a true dive). After it was sold, new owners modernized it a bit, but it was still great. Everyone was so friendly and it was always such a good time. Fast forward to post-covid... I have no idea wtf happened, but every single person who works there are incredibly rude and just pissed off all the time. Maybe they are overworked or kept in chains in the basement... don't know, don't care. All I do care about is that I don't need to be snarled at after paying $150 for 9 tiki drinks. I recently had take out. This is the Chinese restaurant I used to go to as a child. I have fond memories of it. In the 80's the fried rice was a very dark brown due to the flavoring, and had a lot of bean sprouts. I crave it still, but no one makes it like that anymore. I decided to give it a try after so many years. It was really great! Fresh and hot when I picked it up. Order consisted of shrimp fried rice , vegetable fried rice, chicken wings, chicken fingers, and crab rangoons. The price reflected the portions. We had food for about 3 days! Yummy! read more

I am so happy I came across Ho win palace. I have visited this place twice since the new normal with COVID 19 and they have checked my temperature every time. They also provide paper menus and plastic fork ,knives,and plates. The server is always wearing a mask and keeping social distance. The food is always fresh in this place! I even dare to say this is the best Chinese food I've eaten in Massachusetts! On their chicken plates you actually get chicken and not just breading!! Also highly recommend the house fried rice! The crab Rangoon's have just the perfect amount of cream cheese and crab inside and are perfectly fried!! Not only that but service is 5 stars!! I went with my coworkers and just three of us had SIX plates and a full bowl of rice! That's how delicious the food was. It was the best Chinese food we've ever had! (We all agreed) . So... I often go to Chelsea to visit my fiancé's father and I've tried a few Chinese food restaurants in the Chelsea area and they are awful. This place is only a mile away from his house and one day we decided to try this place as a last chance in search of good Chinese food in that area. They are excellent!!! I honestly don't have one complaint besides the fact that the lady who works at the front desk is a bit impersonal and unwelcoming. The FOOD however is so good!! We ordered boneless spareribs, house fried rice, shrimp egg foo young, chicken wings and crab Rangoon... Everyone in the household thought the items were delicious and we've gone back a few times since then for more family night fast food meals. Ordered a pu pu platter for two and pineapple fried rice for a total of $42 after tip. Overall a good experience. Three people each ate a solid plate of food. Pu pu platter for two ($23.50): the items were tasty, just the right amount of greasiness. When it was all spread out on a plate, it was a bit smaller of a portion than I had expected. Pineapple fried rice ($10.95): this was pretty good with a nice variety of flavors with just a very very slight pinch of spice. I would return if I really wanted some good old American Chinese food during quarantine. But it's a bit hard to access in a corner of a busy intersection. Good food, decent value. read more

And the food ...well speaks for itself...when I order well-done spare ribs on the bone well all the guys @ the bar want those ribs too! And the plates served are all so good Love all the times I have hung out there! And delivery in my experience has always been spot on. They were kind to call me back before they delivered my order because of a coupon where I did not spend what was needed to cover it. Finally some good Chinese food. I'm from the area and would go here often but recently bought a house up in lowell and cannot find anything good up there at all. So figured since I'm working around Chelsea today I'll stop by and grab dinner to bring home. Even thou it sat in my truck for 40min and another 30 minutes when I got home and showered food was still fresh and good. Think I'll just do this from now on lol. We are frequent customers of this restaurant, but that ended tonight. We placed an order for delivery which took about an hour to be delivered. That's not the issue, it usually does. I was given the wrong order. I called to let them know and a gentleman answered and said we'll take it back and send you another. I said we just waited an hour and he said oh well you'll have to wait another. I told him we ordered an L14, he said no an L4. I said no an L14. He told me that's not what was said. He pretty much called us liars and was so rude. He didn't offer a discount or anything just another meal that would take yet another hour. I thought the customer was always right, no I guess just a liar. They need to find a better representative for their business and get rid of that rude man.
