I will dream of it on future trips. I also got a banana split latte. It was huge and served in a big ceramic cup. Of course I had to try the blueberry cake, having grown up a town over from the blueberry capital of the world. It was very good. I make mine sweeter. But I'd never say no to this version :) The couple working are so sweet. She greets some customers by name! They are both on it in terms of cleaning a table the millisecond someone leaves. We come here every time we visit our parents in Fort Myers! The German couple that owns it is the absolute cutest and kindest. Support this awesome local business! When you walk in, you'll be greeted by their bright and airy space - and big smiles! The woman owner and her team are always an absolute joy and radiating energy. It's contagious! Very nice, sweet lady took my order. I ordered the Lye Triangle and a decaf Americano. The coffee was hot and tasted great. The triangle was sort of a cross between a pretzel and scone with no sweetness. The coffee shop was like a diner very clean and bright. I will definitely come back especially to try more pastries. Service was exceptional, I believe it was one of the owners the lady was very sweet and you could tell really cares about her store, customers, and her craft. She had a fresh German cheesecake and said she couldn't sell it just yet because it would mess it up. It needed time to sit, she wasn't willing to make a quick sale because the item wouldn't be as she saw fit. I tried the Tiramisu/caramel iced coffee mix which was good and just sweet enough with barely any cream added. Their base coffee taste was good. Every time I'm in town this place is a must! It's run by the sweetest German couple who are always so welcoming and kind when we come in. They have incredible pretzels that can be used as buns on the breakfast sandwiches and some amazing pastries. The coffee is delicious and I tried the pistachio one this time because I love anything pistachio and it did not disappoint. Decided to try all the coffee shops in downtown Ft.Myers so was excited to come across Peter's German Cafe, as I had no idea it was there. It's just around the corner from the new Bruno's of Brooklyn restaurant. Good space with handful of tables inside & quite a bit of outside seating in the attached courtyard. Inside is pretty loud so if u have trouble hearing, might opt for the outdoor option. Bonus - they offer a couple gluten-free options! Staff is so very lovely. I'm assuming the gal who brought r items out was the owner, as she definitely showed an extra effort to ensure guests were treated well. I'm sure the staff is part of the reason so many people love coming to Peter's. Bummed they didn't have iced tea as a hot tea like English Breakfast put over ice just isn't the same, but did have a hot tea & coffee, which were both fine. The apple cinnamon muffin (not gf) was very good - not sure if this is one of their homemade items. Their gf bread was ok & I'm really thankful they offer it, but nothing I'd specifically return to order unless I wanted a breakfast sandwich. They also offered gf banana bread mini loaf & gf German cheesecake the day I went. Draws quite a crowd as the entire time we were there, they were crowded. One kind of off-putting item....they allowed someone to have their dog indoors. I obviously have no issue w/service dogs & who knows, perhaps this was a service dog & I'm incorrect, but no vest/identifier and most service dogs aren't pushed around in strollers. There's even an outdoor patio where the pup could b and it wasn't an intolerable day weather wise. Regardless, I would give Peter's a try again. The desserts are definitely on point- shared the tiramisu with my mom and it was a huge slice. Super light and fluffy. The coffee was just okay- I could hardly taste the coffee and there was very little lavender flavor. The owner is super nice and brought the cake out to us though! It is a cute little cafe located in downtown Fort Myers. We met up with friends for coffee on a Sunday morning. The place was decorated for Christmas and festive. We got a table in the courtyard. This was so refreshing and the owners were so much fun to talk with. One person in our family was an exchange from Germany and she just gushed over them and the baked goods. (So if you miss bakery items from Germany, this is a good place to stop by.) This is now a must stop location for us when we travel. read more

In response to a recent Yelp review of this restaurant, by Lesli S., dated February 18, 2025, we'd like to clarify regarding our dog, as we believe Peter's German Cafe deserved a 5-star review and we feel badly that a 4-star review was given due to our dog. Our dog is in fact a service dog, and trained and certified to perform a very specific task. She is a PSD (Psychiatric Service Dog), and as such is able to perform her duties in a stroller (she's in a stroller due to Intervertebral disc disease, and needs the assistance of a stroller after walking for a period of time). She was not wearing her identifying patches because under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), they are not required to wear vests, ID tags, or specific harnesses. We want to thank the wonderful owners and employees at Peter's German Cafe for the consistently great food and service, and for always being so accomodating to us and our dog. We were on our way back to Cape Coral when I suggested we try Peter's German Ice Cream and bakery! The shop is located on Hendry Street and is totally adorable. There's lots of outside seating with a doggie bowl and and an overhang. Inside are little silver tables with red chairs that remind me of when I grew up in New York. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Dave ordered the scrambled egg breakfast sandwich with bacon and tomato on a everything bagel. I had the chicken and spinach empanada and we both had fresh ground delicious dark roast coffees! I spotted a German Cheesecake that looked just like the kind my mother's best friend baked! So I forced Dave to buy a piece lol! It was light and totally delicious! We haven't tried the homemade ice cream, but one customer was raving about it, They make everything from scratch! Next time we will bring Daisy and try the ice cream and get her some! They actually have vet approved ice cream for doggies!
