Creamed corn- home made house specialties

Read a review that this is a NorCal steakhouse people drive from all over to come to dine - especially on their prime rib. Fortunately, we are only 30 minutes away and we made the day trip on a Saturday afternoon to visit. First off the drive to Isleton is along Levy roads small towns and throw it back in time. The building of Peter steakhouse is a historic landmark and their decor hasn't changed and that's a good thing. We had the prime rib and the ribeye and both were amazing. Exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend both. I would also highly recommend the cream corn and for dessert the bread pudding with coconut pineapple, ice cream all homemade. Family owned and family run. Are their attention to detail and hospitality and delicious food can't be missed.

I will start by saying I went to this establishment on Valentine's Day. Okay, having said this, I will say the main entree was good. Unfortunately, it was a tad unorganized and a bit chaotic from the start. It seemed that that they were short staffed and so we acknowledged and accepted our wait. But there is a certain amount of wait that seems okay and some that doesn't when you see people that got seated after you getting food. Also when you have to ask for the food advertised every time it takes away from the experience. I will say the few people that were there helping smiled and did their best. The ambiance was good and they were trying to get butts in chairs as fast as they could. Bottom line, we will try one more time and decide then if it's worth the wait. Today I will say not so much but maybe next time...

Where to begin. It was our 35th anniversary and we were craving steak. Peter's was our first choice. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very polite and funny bartender/hostess. We were seated and ordered a couple drinks along with a prawn cocktail. Being a Monday evening, it was pretty quiet which was very nice. The menu had many fabulous options, but we both made our minds up quickly. I had the rib eye medium rare, and my wife had the steak Jessica. The drinks and prawn cocktail were fantastic while we reflected on our marriage. Before long our salads arrived followed by our dinners. Both meals were outstanding and cooked to perfection. After stuffing our faces, dessert was in order. 2 bread puddings please, 1 with coconut pineapple ice cream, and 1 with the whiskey sauce and whipped cream, and dang they both were very good. I have to say the whiskey sauce version was a tad better. I can't say enough about our experience at Peter's. Very mad we waited so long to give them a try. We'll be back very soon (I need to try the prime rib asap)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Peter's RULES. And Peter and his wife rule. We come back every now and then for the crab rangoon and prime rib. Supreme, consistent. Crab rangoon (fried crab cheese wontons): Peter's wife is responsible for these things of such beauty and grace. The best of all cheese crab rangoons in the world. Still a perfect wonton to filling ratio. And the red sauce is served warm, gooey, decadent sweetness (better to not question it). You get 4 each if split between 2 people. Salad with bleu cheese dressing: Still supreme. The salad is your regular old iceberg lettuce, so really just a shovel for the dressing. I still enjoy the carrots, raisins (ya), and tomatoes that are all, with the lettuce, cut to bite size bits. Bread: Thank goodness. They gave us hawaiian rolls this time and it was so good. I used these to make mini prime rib sandwiches with sour cream and au jus. I'm disgusting but it was worthwhile and I'm not ashamed to experience heaven. The sweetness of a hawaiian roll paired with the sour of thick sour cream and the saltiness of the prime rib and the sort of light but deep smokiness of the au jus. What grace, what beauty. Creamed corn: Better than their alfredo for sure. It is simply the perfect side. Starchy fiber with a mild cream topped with pepper. Broccoli: Still cooked to perfection. Soft but still fresh and crunchy. Super buttery. Reminds me of what I grew up with. Prime rib: YES. Soft, salty but not too salty but just on the edge that keeps pulling you back into the void. A little fatty, with fat like spreadable butter and fat you can chew and savor. Dipped in au jus for that extra umami, whatever that even means. Supreme. I think we may split the 8oz dish next time so we can have dessert... one time we each had a 12 oz and I'm not sure what we were thinking because the 8 oz is already more than a serving but no regrets. Only heaven. Ambience: We love this establishment because it's very Americana but also Chinese American. The booths are a little rough to sit having hardly any cushion from years of sitting but I say keep it that way. The stained glass is gorgeous and portrays different Chinese American themes. They play classy jazz most times. And Peter and his wife are super nice. True friendly locals. I salute you.

Found this place on yelp and was excited to try some new prime rib. One of my favorites. I live in Sacramento so this was quite a drive to try some prime rib. Drove up on Thursday and was expecting to arrive at 11:15am. They show they are open at 11am . Arrived at 11:07 and no lights we on and the open signs were off. Parked in the back and went to the doors and they were locked. Ok, went to the front of the building ay the opposite entrance and it was locked too. Decided to call the posted phone number to check and nobody answered. So disappointed and not professional. Would give no stars if I could.

First time here, but every time we came through Isleton we wanted to stop. THE PROS: We all had different combinations of the Prime Rib. Delicious!! House made cream corn was the bomb. Ordered the sandwich with double meat and was not disappointed. Friendly locals at the bar. THE CONS: A bit of a mixed up ambiance. Not bad, but it's an old west building with Asian decor, piano bar music and American steakhouse cuisine. But maybe funky ambiance is really a plus, I mean small town should be unique! BOTTOM LINE: Peter's and Isleton are both on my "Happy To Go Back To" list. The Spam Festival is in February- so that sounds like as fine a reason as any to return.

Horrible, salty Crawdad sandwich fake plastic cheese and dry, over cooked fries.

Went on a Sunday at 3:50 pm, not one person dining in there and that should have been the first sign. The waitress was super pushy, I asked to order either the fish and chips or the crawdad fish sandwich and the waitress was super pushy telling me I should not eat fried food and was trying to get me to order the $52 prime rib. I ordered what I wanted anyway the crawfish sandwich and it was horrible!! Super salty, cheap plastic cheese on top and way over cooked fries. I did not eat it, told the waitress it was saltly she starts yelling in Chinese to her husband and storms off in the back, comes back and tells me "we don't cook with salt, I tried your food in the back and it's not salty, you just didn't like the seasoning". Her husband then came over with a bowl of wrapped butter and said "see even our butter is unsalted" he was trying to explain that they don't cook with salt. Regardless the food was nasty and super overpriced. Don't waste your time or money.

Food and service was excellent. Server super friendly and the food was fresh and steaks super tender and tasty. I had asked for steak sauce and decided not to bother, the steak had great taste on its own. Definitely will be coming back. And that's the aftermath of my husband's prime rib with creamy corn and baked potato, he devoured it. The cream corn is pretty delicious

Perfect Prime Rib I had last night at Peter's steakhouse. Thank you.

We came here for lunch to celebrate my father's birthday and everyone loved it. Each meal was loved by the person who ordered it and by the people who sampled it. My father, sister and niece ordered a steak sandwich. This looked amazing and was the loved by them. My uncle ordered a linguica sandwich and he and my father shared sandwiches. They were smart to do that so they can satisfy their tastebuds with 2 great flavors. My nephew ordered a hamburger. The size of this patty was huge and the meat flavor was fresh and definitely of good quality. My brother in law got a cheesesteak and I got a French dip. The meat on our sandwiches was so tender and melted in our mouth! The meat had no gristle and again of good quality. As a side to our sandwiches some of us chose Portuguese beans which I loved. I want to go back and order this to go one day because I can imagine eating cornbread with it at home while relaxing on a rainy day. Others ordered onion rings which were hand dipped and crispy wonderful rings of pleasure! We also had fried pickles. This isn't something I would ever think about ordering, however from this place I definitely would order again. They must have been hand dipped also. They were so good and addicting. The service here was the best I've experienced in a long time. We all enjoyed our waitress and hope to have her again when we return. (Because we all decided this would be a place we frequent often!) The prices were good. A bit more than a usual sandwich/lunch place but you get what you pay for and we were happy to pay what we did for our meal. I'm not sure what the dinner menu is like. I am looking forward to returning for dinner. It's got to be amazing if our lunch was so good. We will be back for our next family celebration! I will be back before that though. I can't stop thinking about it so I already know I'll be back soon.

We pulled up and parked on the narrow little street and walked into this well-known place with the smell of garlic French bread wafting into the air and locals sitting at the bar. We were taken into a small back dining area and given the menu. I ordered the infamous steak sandwich, while my sister ordered the Al's burger, and my husband ordered the fish tacos. The plates were quickly brought out to us and were very generous portions. The steak sandwich was so tasty and big, I was only able to eat about a fourth of it along with the delicious onion rings that came with it. It houses a private collection of over 300 big game specimens from Africa and North America, making it a great place to see what big game hunting looked like in the 1930s. The moment you walk in, you're surrounded by world-class trophies covering the walls near the ceiling. It's unlike any other dining atmosphere around in the east bay. For me, this place is pure nostalgia. My dad used to bring me here once a year when he had business in Rio Vista. I remember being completely fascinated by all the trophies mounted on the walls. Large game hunting wasn't something my family participated in, but growing up in a farming family, animals raised for food were a normal part of life. Even so, the quality and quantity of the collection always left me in awe. Going back as an adult, I can say that feeling hasn't changed. The collection is still impressive. This visit, we kept it simple with drinks and appetizers. My friend ordered a margarita on the rocks, and I had a pale ale. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. The bar itself is a classic 65-foot bar that feels like it belongs in another era. For food, I had the Caesar salad, and we split the ten-inch pepperoni pizza. The pizza featured roni cups and felt like a solid, classic appetizer-style pizza . The side Caesar salad was a great portion with crisp lettuce, shaved Parmigiana, and crunchy croutons, simple and tasty. Foster's Bighorn offers a Chop House style menu for lunch and dinner, making it a great spot for a quick bite or a full sit down dinner. I'd absolutely go back: first for the nostalgia, second for the drinks, and third for the food. It's a one-of-a-kind place that feels like stepping into history while enjoying a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
