simple happy hour cocktail with great view (Happy Hour M-F 3-6)

The Point has really found its stride lately. The menu still has everything longtime customers know and love, but it's no longer a hard sell to the grandkids (or the plant-based daughter-in-law). Pasta entrées no longer default to meat, which makes them easy wins for plant-based eaters. There's also a hearty veggie burger--without the dreaded upcharge--and even the clam chowder is thoughtfully made without bacon, making it a rare option that works for pescatarians and guests with religious dietary needs. These may seem like small details, but together they make The Point feel welcoming to everyone. The classics are still holding strong--the fish and chips is as fantastic as ever, the fried zucchini is irresistible, and Happy Hour (Mon-Fri, 3-6pm) delivers with balanced cocktails and great value. Service is attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere is relaxed enough for a casual stop yet polished enough for a full dinner out. What's most impressive is the balance The Point has struck: longtime regulars still get their traditional favorites, while plant-based diners finally feel like they have real choices. That makes it the perfect spot for mixed groups--grandparents who want comfort food, families juggling picky eaters, or the vegetarian daughter-in-law who's usually stuck with a side salad. Now, everyone can sit down here and find something they're genuinely excited to eat. And for us personally, it's a game-changer. We're thrilled to finally have a local spot where we can bring company off the boat without feeling like we have to cook and clean for every meal. The Point has quickly become a place we're excited to share with our loved ones--a true gem in the Delta.

Needed a lunch spot to meet a friend from Galt, somewhere 1/2 way between us. Found the Point. We shared some fried Artichoke hearts, I had the fish tacos and a bowl of clam chowder. One friend had the tuna melt, one had the club sandwich. The food was fresh with generous servings and service was excellent! The clam chowder had a good amount of clams (some don't), the fish tacos had a pico that provided a nice level of spice. The artichokes were well prepared, no woody leaves, just tender parts of the hearts. It's right on the Delta so views are nice, even on an overcast day. There is outside seating on the back deck with wide views of the Delta.

What a beautiful restaurant on the river in Rio Vista. Having lived in Isleton for a brief period, we made many stops in Rio Vista but never had the chance to eat here until recently and had a great experience. They were doing a meal special for Valentines day, Prime Rib and Lobster special with sides, 2 for $90, a steal for the meal! I like pretty rare prime rib and that is what I got with a heap of horseradish, fried potatoes, and green beans. The lobster tail was a good size, nicely cooked, and served with warm butter of course. We enjoyed our evening looking out at the stormy weather- too windy and raining to keep the boat out that evening but it does have dock for guests to pull up at if you are traveling along the river. This place is not just for "fancy" evenings out, the locals come here for a good dinner and they serve lots of options so there is something for everyone. They have a full bar and serve bottles of wine. I would love to come back for lunch and try that clam chowder!

Everything needs to be better. I guess there is a new owner. Never canceled a dinner order before. But today is the Day. Horrible experience never needed to chase down a waiter after 45 minutes. I tipped well but will never return. Been going for over a decade.

My schedule opened up and I was dragged to lunch on a beautiful Thursday afternoon with my Dad, Aunt, and Uncle (Not complaining btw) The hour drive from Vallejo reminded me why I love East Solano County! We got there and sat out in the lower dining area and Julie took absolute care of us. The initial Margarita(Not pictured) was a cucumber blueberry margarita. It was alright. I wasn't a huge fan. The food: The Shrimp Louie looked amazing and was set up in a 'mix up as you go' fashion The Mango Halibut also looked amazing and was confirmed by my uncle. The fried Cod and Sidewinder fries while kinda basic hit an absolute chord. Light crispy batter, the fish did tend to get soggy kinda quick but it was still good. The French Dip was good! Nice tender prime rib cut super thin. The onion rings were great! The only issue I had was the au jus was more or less a beef base that had little depth and was lacking. The Cadillac margarita was really good and hit the spot on a warm afternoon! Overall between the food and the view this is a great place to hang out if you're in the area!

Do you like old school restaurants on the river? I do. We went to check out The Point over in Rio Vista. @pointrestaurant has daily specials and won the Best of the Delta runner up award for "Best Food with a View," on the Delta. This was worth visiting in itself. It offers patio, banquet, bar, and dining room seating all with views of the mighty Sacramento River. I ordered the refreshing Point's Punch, the jumbo prawn cocktail, deep fried artichoke hearts, and their popular clam chowdaaa! It tasted homemade but just needed more clams IMO. Satisfaction attained. Friendly, attentive, and quick service here. A return visit will be planned soon. Located between the Sac River and a little marina. I rounded my 3.5 stars to 4 with more menu exploration forthcoming. We also cruised downtown Rio Vista and found a couple more spots to explore. The Point!!! Awesome views!

Came here for a second time and tried out some of their other food items. Clam chowder was good, shrimp scampi was a bit watery and needed more garlic. The chicken pesto linguine was tasty. Good service and very nice view. Will definitely come back

Had lunch on a Friday at the point. We tried outside first, but my height-challenged wife could not see over the railing :). Started with an Orange Dream cocktail and a plate of Fried Calamari which was a great appetizer served with both cocktail (++) & tartar (meh, --) dips. We had the Fish Sandwich and the steak salad. Ordered Rare steak & got it. Steak was great (no nerves, not too much fat). Just a little bit stingy on the blue cheese crumbles. The blue cheese dressing had no crumbles at all, glad I ordered it on the side. Nice ambiance for older folks right on the edge of the river. Waitress Carolina took great care of us and came multiple times during the meal to check on us. Thanks!

    Do I need a reservation?

We didn't need one plenty of seating..

Would you recommend this restaurant for a vegetarian (no fish/meat/seafood)? If you are a vegetarian and ate here, how was your experience?

Yes, I'm vegetarian and I ate there recently. They don't have a large selection for vegetarians however you can find something for dinner. Four of us were in the party, with me being the only vegetarian. Each of us was happy with the food.

Does this restaurant have air conditioning?

    Yes

Is this restaurant upstairs? And If so, is their an elevator?

    Are dogs allowed outside?

I did see people with dogs outside but you may want to call for any restrictions. I doubled checked only service dogs.

Here's what I loved during my visit: Food: * Honey Walnut Shrimp 5/5 - Crispy shrimp with a delicious mayonnaise-based glaze with a hint of orange. This was my favorite dish that we ordered! * General Chicken 5/5 - If you like something crispy and saucy with a slight kick, you'll love this! I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious this was! * Mongolian Beef 3.5/5 - I'm used to this dish being spicier, but whoever's sensitive to spice would enjoy this! * Egg rolls 4/5 - Came out hot and crispy with a side of sweet and sour sauce. The cabbage filling was nicely cooked down and almost creamy in texture. * Shrimp Chow Mein - 4/5 I'm not sure if it's because I got the last of the serving, but I wish there were more noodles than onions and bell peppers. Shout out for West Sacramento…read more.. Did you know that right in West Sacramento there is a seafood stand selling fresh sustainable caught hook n line fish plucked from the Bodega Bay? Well know you do... Ferrari Fisheries has a stand that sells black cod, ling cod, red snapper which all are year round catches; and seasonal Dungeness crab and salmon. When they have a fresh caught batch; they text their customers what is available catch, and time & date. To get their text notifications; you can sign up on their website. I was fortunate enough to get to their stand early enough on a notification day to buy a couple of Dungeness crabs. The crabs were live, priced at $11/pound. Awesome price! When you get to the stand, there are two lines. The first line you want to get into is the one nearest the big containers where the fish on ice or crabs are kept. If you want your fish filleted, let them know. It is a complimentary service. Then you head into the other line to pay. They take cash and card, I'm not sure about other payment types. Keep in mind, the inventory sells quickly especially the seasonal items. Folks queue up earlier than the opening time stated in the texts. The start time was 10am; I got there at 10:20 am. They sold out as I was leaving the stand. Anthony (owner and fishing captain), his wife, and team are terrific. They all were helpful and had the best attitudes. Welcoming. I'm sure they answer the same questions over and over. But when talking with each customer, they were engaged and provided individual attention. Top notch customer service!

The steamed rice was fluffy and paired really well with the seafood, and we enjoyed the hush puppies too. The one thing we didn't care for was the calamari. Unfortunately, it was extremely tough and chewy, which made it hard to eat, so we wouldn't order that again. Upon entry and seeing people dressed very relaxed, my assumption was curved. The inside was relatively small, we sat at small table in the back near the "kitchen" food pick-up area is the best way to describe it. Our waiter was okay, provided us the nightly specials and acknowledged our Anniversary. Nothing beyond the standard greeting. Drinks: very basic in my opinion; subjective I get it. Me and my guests were not wow'd. We had to ask for additional supplements for the Lavender Lemon Drop and Georgia Peach or something Peach with bourbon, peach puree, etc. Appetizers: PrimeRib Sliders, Fried Coconut Prawns and Lobster Bisque. Again taste is subjective, being from the south, flavors and richness is a MUST. I can't say we got that. Our guest throughly enjoyed the prawns and said the sauce was GREAT. I'm use to a VERY rich, cozy Lobster bisque and this missed the mark, and there was barely any lobster. Entrees: 8 oz Filet Mignon, Prime Rib, Crab enchiladas and Scallops. Filet was requested as medium, came out almost done, no pink in sight. While my guest was disappointed, they didn't feel like the battle of waiting for it to be corrected, disappointing. Prime Rib, was okay. The guest barely finished it. Pan Roasted Maine Scallops, were okay, cooked fine. Meal ended once a gnat landed on the crisp crackers. Crab Enchiladas: A very unique dish. Plentiful for sure; taste basic. Essentially a taco with all the fixings with crab sprinkled in minus a shell. No dessert for us; however, we were offered a cupcake with a candle for our anniversary. While this review is my/our experience, the restaurant missed the mark with this basic, dry store bought cupcake. I refuse to believe this was made in house. Perhaps one of the menu dessert options would have been better. We'll never know. My expectations were not met. Hope yours is.

There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside, and the indoor space is beautifully done with vaulted wood ceilings, exposed beams, warm lighting, and comfortable cushioned seating that makes it easy to settle in. The chairs were genuinely comfortable, which is not always a given. From what we could see, the outdoor seating looks equally inviting, especially with the string lights, open views, and waterfront setting. I can imagine it being especially nice at sunset or on a warm evening. We started with potstickers that tasted homemade and were excellent. They came out hot with a flavorful dipping sauce and disappeared quickly. For drinks, my partner ordered a lemon drop that was bright and well balanced. I asked for a whiskey sour, which wasn't on the menu, but they were happy to make one for me. It was decent, though not as memorable as the lemon drop. For dinner, we ordered General Tso's chicken, snow pea chicken, and rice. Both dishes were outstanding. The General Tso's sauce was perfectly executed, flavorful without being overly sweet, and the chicken was tender with a crisp coating. Even the broccoli was cooked just right, still slightly crunchy but fully done. The snow pea chicken had a lighter, savory sauce and was equally well prepared. Service was attentive throughout the evening. Our drinks were refreshed promptly, the food came out in good time, and a woman who appeared to be one of the partners stopped by our table to check on us personally. She was warm and engaging and mentioned they serve the best Chinese food in the Sacramento and Delta region. After the meal we had, that claim felt justified. Even the restrooms were clean and thoughtfully maintained, which is always a good sign. Between the quality of the food, the comfortable setting, and the inviting Delta atmosphere, this is absolutely a place we would return to. We don't give out five stars lightly, but this one earned it.
