We were with a group of eight people, all relative strangers who had gathered for a Datsun Fun Run. We were seated in a side room. Service was prompt and friendly. They were happy to split the checks, which made what could have been an uncomfortable splitting of the bill easy peasy. My husband order the River Burger, a standard hamburger. I had the Tuna Melt. I was very disappointed with my sandwich, there was not much tuna inside and for the price ($3 higher than the burger) it was expensive for what I got. The Sidewinder Fries were swimming in oil. My husbands Garlic Fries were likewise much too oily. The views of the water are wonderful and the bar and restaurant seem to be very popular with the locals. There were a few birthday parties going on during our visit. Next time in Rio Vista, I'll probably be trying a different restaurant. read more

The 3 star is for the food. The food is not spectacular. But the location is in a very nice location with a water view. I ordered the coconut shrimp I wish they were crispy and crunchy. Needed a lunch spot to meet a friend from Galt, somewhere 1/2 way between us. Found the Point. We shared some fried Artichoke hearts, I had the fish tacos and a bowl of clam chowder. One friend had the tuna melt, one had the club sandwich. The food was fresh with generous servings and service was excellent! The clam chowder had a good amount of clams (some don't), the fish tacos had a pico that provided a nice level of spice. The artichokes were well prepared, no woody leaves, just tender parts of the hearts. It's right on the Delta so views are nice, even on an overcast day. What a beautiful restaurant on the river in Rio Vista. Having lived in Isleton for a brief period, we made many stops in Rio Vista but never had the chance to eat here until recently and had a great experience. They were doing a meal special for Valentines day, Prime Rib and Lobster special with sides, 2 for $90, a steal for the meal! I like pretty rare prime rib and that is what I got with a heap of horseradish, fried potatoes, and green beans. The lobster tail was a good size, nicely cooked, and served with warm butter of course. We enjoyed our evening looking out at the stormy weather- too windy and raining to keep the boat out that evening but it does have dock for guests to pull up at if you are traveling along the river. This place is not just for "fancy" evenings out, the locals come here for a good dinner and they serve lots of options so there is something for everyone. They have a full bar and serve bottles of wine. I would love to come back for lunch and try that clam chowder! read more

We stopped by on what was supposed to be the last Sunday of bridge closure, so we had no need for a reservation. Although this is an aging establishment, our booth had been recently re-upholstered and the view of the waterfront and river was great. I think we loved everything. Our specialty drinks were delicious and had been prepared with an artistic touch. Fried prawns and a New York strip steak with sides. We even had carrot cake and bread pudding for dessert. My schedule opened up and I was dragged to lunch on a beautiful Thursday afternoon with my Dad, Aunt, and Uncle (Not complaining btw) The hour drive from Vallejo reminded me why I love East Solano County! We got there and sat out in the lower dining area and Julie took absolute care of us. The initial Margarita(Not pictured) was a cucumber blueberry margarita. It was alright. I wasn't a huge fan. The food: The Shrimp Louie looked amazing and was set up in a 'mix up as you go' fashion The Mango Halibut also looked amazing and was confirmed by my uncle. The fried Cod and Sidewinder fries while kinda basic hit an absolute chord. Light crispy batter, the fish did tend to get soggy kinda quick but it was still good. The French Dip was good! Nice tender prime rib cut super thin. The onion rings were great! The only issue I had was the au jus was more or less a beef base that had little depth and was lacking. The Cadillac margarita was really good and hit the spot on a warm afternoon! Overall between the food and the view this is a great place to hang out if you're in the area! read more

Do you like old school restaurants on the river? I do. We went to check out The Point over in Rio Vista. @pointrestaurant has daily specials and won the Best of the Delta runner up award for "Best Food with a View," on the Delta. This was worth visiting in itself. It offers patio, banquet, bar, and dining room seating all with views of the mighty Sacramento River. I ordered the refreshing Point's Punch, the jumbo prawn cocktail, deep fried artichoke hearts, and their popular clam chowdaaa! It tasted homemade but just needed more clams IMO. Satisfaction attained. Friendly, attentive, and quick service here. A return visit will be planned soon. Located between the Sac River and a little marina. I rounded my 3.5 stars to 4 with more menu exploration forthcoming. We also cruised downtown Rio Vista and found a couple more spots to explore. The Point!!! Awesome views! read more

Bartender Jill always does a fantastic job recalling names at the bar and details. My 92 yr old friend Alex loves going there for your yummy Clam Chowder and he tolerates your excellent side salad. We have eaten many times here and almost every time was great! Except Valentine's Day. They offered 2 steak n lobster dinners for a fairly good price. I sent back the lobster two times. TWICE sent it back and still not cooked. It was blubbery and no firmness at all. The color was off too. Idk if the cook didn't know how they should be. I left it all there n we came home. Had lunch on a Friday at the point. We tried outside first, but my height-challenged wife could not see over the railing :). Started with an Orange Dream cocktail and a plate of Fried Calamari which was a great appetizer served with both cocktail (++) & tartar (meh, --) dips. We had the Fish Sandwich and the steak salad. Ordered Rare steak & got it. Steak was great (no nerves, not too much fat). Just a little bit stingy on the blue cheese crumbles. The blue cheese dressing had no crumbles at all, glad I ordered it on the side. Nice ambiance for older folks right on the edge of the river. The food here is good and satisfying. The wait staff are always great with super fast and friendly service. Depending on the bartender, I've had my first and favorite Lemondrop martini here at The Point. It's a very pleasant ambience watching the river roll by and fun when they blow the horn for incoming and outgoing boats from the docks. They do have outdoor seating if you prefer to sit closer to the water. read more

We've been coming to The Point for years, but I have to say our visit yesterday was disappointing. The place is really looking run down. The women's restroom was filthy and the soap dispensers (both) were empty. (Where and how are the food handlers washing?) Our food was very good, as always, and the views are beautiful. The new york steak sandwich at the Point is huge. They put a whole steak on top of the bread. I asked to add blue cheese on mine and it definitely changes the taste profile for the better for me. Their fries were delicious with the ranch. I enjoyed my food with a bottled Negra Modelo. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and must have missed the lunch rush because it wasn't crazy busy. We've been to this spot a few times. We like that it's on the water. It's perfect ambiance when you sit outside. This time it was too hot for outdoor seating, so we stayed inside. And it was very cool too. We had a group of 6 and kids and everyone enjoyed their food. Our server was very attentive. The price was right for the food that we got. So we'll be back again. read more

The Point restaurant, located in Rio Vista's Delta Marina Yacht Harbor, is definitely on point. I met some friends for lunch and decided to try the fish sandwich. This scrumptious sandwich was made with fresh grilled bass, leaf lettuce, a large slice of tomato, red onion and it was served open faced on top of two sides of a remoulade drizzled brioche bun. For my side order I selected seasoned sweet potato fries and it came with a house salad, which was crisp and delicious as well. My friends and I sat on the Point's back deck overlooking the picturesque bend of the Sacramento River where we enjoyed the view of the tugboats pulling enormous barge ships carrying boulders and concrete for ongoing levee updates and repairs. Service at The Point was excellent and deserving of 5-stars as the drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and food were all delivered timely and in the appropriate order with a smile. I love the riverfront location. I love the general layout of the restaurant. I love the potential that it holds. The menu, however, leaves much to be desired and is the reason I give The Point 3 stars. The menu needs some improvement, in terms of breadth of offerings and the tendency to price even salads with the meat in them, even if meat is omitted. Short of a major menu revision, please consider expanding options that can more easily have a plant-based substitution or a price without a meat option and offer the shrimp, chicken, etc. as an add-on cost for even an entree sized salad or simple pasta dish. If The Point changes its offerings and expands its menu, it has the potential to be a great place. Until then...there's not much else I can say. read more

Nice location with a view of the river and shore across from Rio Vista Marina. The food was very good. I especially liked the chowder, which was very creamy and rich. The entree of sea bass was cooked well, leaving the fish moist. Green beans were very fresh and served al dente. The waitress was attentive and the entire experience was enjoyable.
