We have been wanting to try this place for a while now as we pass it frequently on our way to Sac. A friend had told me that it was a good place and has been traveling from the Bay Area to eat there for years. The owners and staff are welcoming and very attentive. The food is just what you would expect from an old fashioned steak house and the does not disappoint! We had a party of 10 and they were "Johnny on the spot" with their excellent service. Had the Crawdad Cocktail and the Crawdad Sandwich. The cocktail was fantastic -- overflowing with meat and very little lettuce (see photo). The Crawdad Sandwich was somewhat disappointing. While the meat was plentiful, the subtle flavor of the crawdads was overwhelmed by the cheese and onions. The Chef needs to rethink this sandwich along the lines of a Lobster Roll -- bring in a light, acidic sauce that will accent the crawdads and forget the cheese and onions. read more

now, should we have made a reservation somewhere reputable? of course. we knew it would be difficult finding anywhere with walk-in-ready tables because it's mother's day... ...well...that led us to Peter's. i've passed it so many times over the years when driving up the river road and always wanted to go just because the building is pretty cool and old timey... it's funny I say old timey because let's just say they ask you if you want mint sauce with your lamb. it's also the kind of old timey that reminds you of your mother in laws glassware. there's also plenty of boomers wearing button ups with white tube socks and new balances going "ahem" and clearing their throats for all to hear. their walkers are also finely placed next to the high chairs. in fact one thing the frequenters have in common...they have no teeth. pros: wine is cheap and makes everything taste worth it. chicken wings were crunchy and flavorful (cisco did a good job packaging it up) the broccoli that came with my meal was seasoned well the waiter was a nice old man cons: everything needed ALLLL the pinches of old bay, salt or... (salt bae would have his work cut out here) the aesthetic is...a whole ass mood...american scenery juxtaposed with asian decor. it screams "white dude marries an asian lady" and had an argument over how to decorate. food prices are akin to the best steakhouses in the east bay but wine prices are a throwback to when napa used to have free no cost tasting rooms. visit for a fun time; don't stay for food. read more

Visited while hanging out with our friend who owns a houseboat nearby and were not disappointed. Located in the first building built in Isleton in 1880, this legendary restaurant did not disappoint. Went for a late lunch onthe day after thanksgiving and the owner/wife Yee was our waitress and could not be more pleasant. Three of us had the prime rib dip which was super tender on a delicious roll, plus steak fries and fresh horseradish. The ice cream dessert came with 3 scoops and bread pudding with whiskey sauce was scrumptious. Terrible service here!! My boyfriend and I went out for a special occasion dinner one night and we chose this place based on its location being close to where we live. We had heard such good reviews about it so we called and made some reservations. When we arrived we walked in and stood for 5-10 minutes at the counter, being completely ignored by staff members EVEN when they would walk right past us!! Not a single word said to us. This was our first time here! We normally pass Peter's Steakhouse as we drive through Isleton on our way to Lake Tahoe or Sacramento. Each time we would drive by and say, "we need to eat there someday." Well, today was the day! When we walked in, we were immediately greeted with a smile. The waitress sat us at a table and took our drink order. Our waitress was very kind and efficient. We ordered the garlic chicken wings, jalapeno poppers, chicken alfredo, chicken strips, and prime rib melt. The garlic chicken wings were phenomenal. My son absolutely loved his chicken strips and my husband and other son loved the chicken alfredo. My prime rib melt was also quite good. The jalapeno poppers were okay, I personally make mine with cream cheese and bacon. My homemade method seems to be preferred by my family. But that's just us. The portions were decent for dinner. My husband and I had the 8 oz prime rib ($33) and it was prepared perfectly. It's served with au jus and horseradish. The salad is included and it consisted of iceberg lettuce, croutons & cherry tomatoes. They have a nice assortment of dressings to choose from. The other couple that we were with had the NY steak ($43) and filet mignon ($45)and they were happy with how their steaks were prepared. You get plain white rolls and you get 2 sides (steamed broccoli, homemade cream corn, white rice or a baked potato). For the price charged It would have been nice if there were more a couple more sides choices such as other vegetables. Like I mentioned the meat was very good, but the sides weren't very impressive. They have a nice dessert menu and the bread pudding is very good as was the brownie sundae. The service was good and she was very friendly. This restaurant is in a very old building and it has a lot of history. There is easy ADA access and parking up the hill on the back side of the building. There is a small bar also. Dress is casual. It's a little chilly inside on this April evening, so you might want to take a jacket. read more

Tonight, y'all get 5 stars. It has been for ever since we have had a waitress as good as Katie. Although the restaurant only had three tables eating dinner and a few locals at the bar, Katie ran the entire restaurant and made us feel as though we were the only ones there. We split the rib eye, ordered an extra baked potato with prawns and thank God we did. It filled us and the bill only came to $40 including a beer and glass of wine. My in-laws (who live in Stockton) wanted us to join the for dinner here for a belated Mother's Day a couple of months ago. They had wanted to go earlier, but Peter's is a 30 minute drive from Stockton, so you have to plan it out. On a Saturday at 6 PM in June, the place was 3/4 full, and it was almost full by the time we left 90 minutes later. As this place is known for it's prime rib, both of my in-laws ordered that dish, while my wife ordered the New York Steak, and I got the rib eye. All the dinners come with salad, bread, and 2 sides. My father-in-law eschews green vegetables, so he passed on the salad. Our waitress was hilarious and told him she would server him 2 salads on his next visit! But when our entrees came in, we dove right in. My steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare), served with a baked potato and corn. All of us enjoyed our meals, especially my father-in-law, who cleaned up his plate. While I'm not a huge prime rib fan, I was pleased with a single bite. Even though we were stuffed from dinner, we decided to share a brownie sundae. Good thing we shared, as it was huge! The brownie was warm, the ice cream was cold, and it was drizzled with caramel syrup. I think I ate about half of it myself! We had a great time dining here, and it was definitely worth the drive! The service was very friendly, though a little slow since it was busy that night (perhaps there were short-staffed?). If you are not in a hurry (and who is, driving all the way to Isleton?), this is a great place to get a nice all-America meal! read more

I took a few days off of work to unwind, and found myself driving down the winding 160 toward the Delta. There are a few places along the river I usually stop, but I was looking for something new. As I neared Isleton, I realized I was hungry and parked, figuring I could pretty much walk to wherever from there. So many things are closed down in Isleton that it can come off kind of hostile and deserted, even in the sunshine. There were a few restaurants in plain view, but they had closed signs prominently displayed. Intimidated, I brought out my Yelp app and searched for nearby things that were open then. Peter's Steak House popped up, and I realized it was just across the street from where I was parked - perfect. I made my way up the steps and opened the door to find a beautiful but completely empty dining room. Expensive looking burgundy booths, crisp white table cloths, stained glass, and a mixed Asian and nautical theme - but not a soul in sight. A blonde waitress popped her head out of the kitchen, looking surprised to see me, and made her way toward me with a questioning look on her face as if she wasn't sure what I wanted. I wondered if this was some private party place and I was intruding. But she was smiling, so I didn't bolt. She rested her hand hesitantly on the stack of menus, "lunch?" I nodded and she showed me to a sunny booth near the windows and bar. I ordered a Blue Moon, and the Fettuccine with Prawns. After she put in my order, she checked on me one more time, then left. I guess her shift was over. As I waited for my food and sipped my beer, three elderly folks came in clearly drunk and having a good time. They took seats at the bar and carried on laughing and teasing each other until an older Asian man, who I later learned is The Peter of Peter's Steak House, appeared and poured them gin and sprites. My food appeared and it was beautiful, delicious, and perfect. I know it sounds stupid to call a dish perfect, because what does that even mean - but it was. Fettuccine with Prawns isn't a difficult dish, but this one was done well. The prawns tasted very fresh and there was a generous amount of them. Two crusty pieces of garlic bread complimented the dish. As I ate, the folks at the bar noticed me and introduced themselves. They began to play some dice game with Peter, and I could tell they were locals. After a few more minutes they invited me over to join them. I finished my Fettuccine and headed over. They were playing a dice game called Liars that I only halfway caught the rules of. They offered to teach me, and were only gambling with a buck each, but I was too caught up with how charmingly surreal this all was to actually play. I got another beer and watched, bantering back and forth with them between rounds. I had a wonderful time and left happy and fulfilled. It wasn't just a meal (good as it was), it was an experience that made my day fun and special. The owner, Peter, is an absolute delight - very funny and unassuming. Ate dinner here last night with some friends. I have eaten here a few times and the meals were always good. I am a fan of the prime rib but always thought it was a little over seasoned. Last night my King Cut came out perfectly and they had reduced the spices. Yay! I got my prime rib with some fries and broccoli. This is a steakhouse so come here to eat steak! A very nice restaurant in a historic house on the delta in the town of Isleton. The place is very laid back and somewhat informal. Don't have high expectations of this place for what people refer to as "fine dining". There are no fancy linens, high end tableware and tablecloths here and that's ok. The service staff is small but very accommodating. The restaurant itself is very well lighted with a large open dining room. There is a nice bar area for pre-meal cocktails and just to hangout. Now, on to the food...The prime rib is seasoned very well. It is succulent, tasty and comparable to high end establishments. The Au Jus comes in a little cup on the side and you can ask for more if needed. The sides (salad, soup, bread, creamed corn, steamed veggies, baked potato) are all satisfactory. You will leave with a full stomach. This place is great to have a nice meal after delta activities where you can just relax and unwind in peace without being rushed. The owners, Peter and his wife Yee are always there and you can see them often mingling with the regulars. I recommend this place if you are in or near the delta. read more

We stopped at Peter's Steak House on a Saturday for a late lunch. We were the only people in the place at 2 p.m.. Service was slow but very friendly. Food was tolerable but nothing special. We all ordered burgers. The only other items on the menu were fish and chips, steak sandwich and prime rib sandwich (that I recall). I was surprised that they didn't ask us how we wanted it cooked. It seems that they only know one temperature - well done. Our burgers were charcoaled on the outside and very dry inside. I had to smother it in mayo and ketchup to get it down. I would have sent it back but by this point I was starving and it had already taken 15 minutes to get this far. The fries were great. Big, crunchy steak fries, perfectly crispy. However, I literally got like six fries. Very skimpy portion. I don't really feel the need to go back for lunch. The dinner reviews seem much better. read more

I had a steak sandwich and house salad here for dinner with some drinks at the bar. Very nice bar tender and friendly locals. I didn't realize the steak sandwich came "naked" so was a bit surprised to see just the meat in a bread with nothing on it, next time I'll make sure to ask for toppings. The house salad with ranch was interesting as it came with raisins. Raisins and ranch are an interesting flavor together. We went 2 years ago for the Father's Day crawfish festival. They didn't have crawfish. Drove over 100 miles and had to eat lunch down stairs. The food was terrible we had one bite and left it. The waiter didn't listen to our order and brought the wrong stuffIf they can't delete the website that advertises crawfish then they should post on their Peter's steakhouse website. 12 people had to turn around halfway. Let's just say I was disappointed with the 4 star rating, let me explain why The service was top notch, I left my biggest tip in some time to the staff. The restaurant was clean and well kept. Not snobby or to casual, it's perfect for anyone. Best prime rib I can remember having, salad was perfect, bake potato, just as good, cream corn was perfect sweetness to off set the prime rib.
