First timer here. Service by Janet (or was it Janice?) was good. She served our party of 12 on a slightly busy Sunday morning. I decided to get the Belgium waffle combo but I was slightly disappointed because it didn't have whipped cream and strawberries like the regular Belgium waffle did. So it felt like a plain breakfast for a combo plate. But I will say, the bacon made up for it! Perfectly crispy and not oily at all. All in all, it was a nice little old diner on Main Street, where everyone knows everyone and it seems like a nice place to dine for your typical breakfast and lunch diner cravings. read more

Back again on our way up to Sacramento and had to stop in for breakfast. The friendliness of the staff really stands out here. While we considered having grits with our breakfast, the allure of the fried rice hooked us. We had a couple of omelettes (an amazing array for a small place) but the fried rice was really the deal. It is not overly salty and has a great just made (or least just freshened up) quality. I would definitely come back just for the fried rice. read more

Despite its odd name, this old school diner has a solid breakfast. Located in downtown Rio Vista, it's a two room restaurant with booths on the right and tables on the left. Husband got chicken fried steak covered with gravy, said meat was tender and really enjoyed it and ate it all. I ordered chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and green sauce, which was delicious and filling. The chips were like Fritos without the extra salt, topped with queso cheese. Coffee was tasty and served in cute branded coffee cups. Decor included a ""stuffed" striped bass and stingray among photos of Marilyn Monroe. Service was pleasant but a little slow, no seconds on coffee until we asked, and table wasn't cleared when we arrived, so one star off. I would definitely come back if we were in the area again or coming back from the Delta. read more

My sister came to visit me and I thought I would bring her to a place in town I haven't tried for breakfast on our day out. We got our breakfast, I had French toast, she had a Belgian waffle. She said her waffle was rubbery, while picking at her waffle she said the bottom was stringy. I said: what? . What the heck? Also, the coffee had a chemical taste. We had a bad experience unfortunately. I really try to support local businesses. We have been trying to bat a thousand but unfortunately striking out. So we told the gal that served us about the problems with the waffle and the coffees but she didn't seem concerned about it. Didn't offer to maybe switch it out.. nothing. We paid and left. This unpretentious, somewhat faded diner obviously has a core clientele of enthusiastic regulars. Service is really nice even if you're not one. Their approach to an omelet is my favorite ever: they treat the egg part like a taco shell, keeping it thin, neatly folded over so, so much filling! The result is the most generous "meat lovers" type omelet I've ever seen. And it includes both linguica and actual ham. Hashbrowns are well-intentioned. Biscuit is a really nice biscuit. Someone in the kitchen seems to take pride in making a fairly standard diner menu come out good. This is not a destination in itself, but if you're in the Rio Vista area, it's a very good bet for a casual sitdown spot. read more

Oil soaked hash browns, mediocre coffee using straight tap water (water quality and taste in Rio Vista is horrendous). Luckily most of their regular supporting patrons are well over 70 so have lost their sense of taste and smell, while still having money to waste. Two people for breakfast and coffee well over $30 with tax tip--if there were room they'd probably put in an ATM machine to get the fees. Go to McDonald's for a better quality, better value, or hit up a good truck maybe. read more

It was our first time there. A cozy place with a 50's coffee shop look, wonderful, friendly service and a massive breakfast menu. I ordered a chili cheese omelet that contained house made chili that was delicious and my friend ordered a veggie omelet. One of the accompaniments is a side of fried rice instead of potatoes. Crispy diced chicken filet on an iceberg lettuce salad has chopped up tomato, bell pepper, hard boiled egg quarters and a sprinkling of fresh cheddar cheese. Last dish was huevos rancheros with refried beans and rice. Eater of that said "oooh, you can taste the pork lard, Yummy!" This food is not going to wow a sophisticated city diner. It's way too simple and unpretentious. Diner food just like what was served in the early 1960's. The dining rooms and furniture are old and beat to $#!+. Everything needs repainting and a thorough scrubbing. None the less if you arrive hungry there are plenty of items on the large & varied menu that will catch your fancy. Visited this breakfast Cafe in Rio Vista after weekend of camping at Sandy Beach. Service is great, friendly, and cheerful. Food was amazing, had the chicken fried steak and over easy eggs, with country potatoes and sourdough toast. Definitely coming back again when in town. I've been to this joint several times and it's predictably average. And that's the remarkable thing about this place, at least it's consistent. The service is pretty good and the menu is your standard American diner breakfast/lunch selection. I find it pretty unique that among the selection is fried rice and spam, which hits a soft spot with me having grown up in Guam where those are standard fares. Since the original place my significant other and I were initially going to dine at was full, we decided to search on Yelp for another restaurant to try. After briefly searching on Yelp, we stumbled upon Raul's Striper Café, which had good reviews and great pictures of appetizing food, so we decided to give it a try. The location of the restaurant isn't in the best location. There were a couple of sketchy people lingering around in the parking lot and some even came into the restaurant. Luckily, no problems occurred during our dining experience here. The customer service was about average. Our waitress was relatively friendly, but didn't really interact with us too much. We also had to flag her down a couple of times, when the restaurant was not busy, to refill our drinks. The food was also average. I ordered their eggs benedict, which was the special of the day. The eggs benedict wasn't flavorful and the rice was also on the greasy side. I tried my boyfriend's dish, which was also underwhelming. Overall, I'm not impressed with Raul's Striper Café. I really wanted to like this restaurant, since it's a local owned restaurant, but other dishes were not that great. Two out of five stars. read more

Raul's is a lovely little gem of a restaurant on Rio Vista's Main Street. You can identify a well run restaurant when you see the owner is always there. Unpretentious and friendly, the service is quick and the food is always good. My breakfast burrito was perfection: I requested they make the pieces uniform and not too saucy because I was eating it in the car. Done and delicious. read more

This place was alright for a small diner. The food was nothing special. I ordered the pigs in a blanket and there was more blanket than pig. My friends ordered the seafood platter. It did not taste good at all and the fish tasted really mushy. There is no AC here too so it was super hot in there. They have to leave the doors open because of the heat and flys were all over the place. I came, I saw, I tried the food but I won't be coming back. read more
