After someone took my order,had to wait for the manager (or owner) to count the entire till, change and all, to pay for my order. He then proceeded to take someone else's order behind me and allow them to pay. While I stood right there and waited. So although I had a family waiting on a meal, the people behind me had their order placed first. I can safely assume he is either blissfully unaware of such inconveniences or doesn't care. This is my favorite burger joint in the Kingwood area- hands down. Thin, juicy patty with super a soft bun. Did I mention their delicious onion rings? Greasy, but not too greasy. Seating is kind of limited because it's small inside. Parking can be a challenge at times too. It's a pretty popular place. Pete's is easy to miss due to it's size. Just remember: look for the gravel parking lot between miles of nothing and miles of nothing along loop 494 (you know, across from wooded area along the the train tracks). I always leave this family owned restaurant with a smile on my face. I don't hand out 5 stars left and right- this place deserves it. read more

This is one of those places that Yelp is all about. Even though I've lived in the area for over a decade I've never heard of this place before reading Heidi's review. I had to try it out. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot I was thinking this place had 5 star yelp written all over it (Tip: GPS use reccomended or you might drive right by). I'm surprised Guy Fieri missed this place last time he was in town. The place was packed for lunch hour... order first then hope you find a seat (though plenty of seats available outside... Too hot out for that today) The burger was a large portion... Not huge but not small.... The flavor was very good, but still not as good as Bill's Cafe down the road. I'd still give the burger and the atmosphere 5 stars but Pete's loses a star because they screwed up my order. Asked for onion rings, paid for onion rings but got fries. Then they had to go back and check the order to make sure (the same person who delivered the wrong order is the person who rang me up for said order) The onion rings, once they arrived were delicious. read more

A friend/neighbor mentioned this place to me months ago. When we are in the Porter area, I keep mentioning to my hubby about the place, but just never seem to find it (guess I should have looked at Yelp, this was prior to me using Yelp more often). Anyways we were driving by when I finally saw it. So we decided on our way back to stop by. When you enter there are tables on one side and a counter where you can order. My husband ordered the Cheeseburger with everything on it and onion rings. I ordered the Pete's Jr Hamburger and fries (also with everything on it). They ask you your name so that they can bring your food over when ready. They brought it over after several minutes (not to long of a wait). The burgers were delish. Not greasy at all. The onion rings were tasty and fries too were not greasy. We will be returning along with the kids. This may be a new burger joint!! :-) Thanks!!! read more

Obviously, Porter isn't exactly a bumpin' area (it's definitely growing, though), and Pete's has been slinging up great burgers for a while now - last time I was here was in high school, which was almost 10 years ago. Yikes. Came back recently, and it's way bigger than it used to be, which is awesome to see them successful. Finally got to check out this place. I have to admit I would of never heard of this place if it wasn't for word of mouth... or if I had yelp for it. It's not on a main road or shopping center, like H.B. said in a earlier review "you pass and say damn..." Once I pulled into the parking lot I noticed a couple of tables and chairs, walked in. There's a counter to the left as soon a you walk in, a soda fountain straight across the door and a bunch of tables/chairs to the right. Not chick or stylish, but for some reason very familiar and comfortable. Reminded me of a place my parent would take us for burgers in L.A. good memories. Now for the best part the food. I ordered the burger basket which included a good portion burger, fries and a drink for under $7 bucks. The service was very good, friendly and the guy tending the counter remembered my friend by name. We got our drinks sat outside... soon our food came out. The burger was delicious: juicy and flavorful. Fresh lettuce, onions and tomatoes. The fries were pretty tasty as well. With great food, service and laid back atmosphere... I can see my self making the 30 mile trip when I crave a really good burger! Worth every mile. Great mom and pop! Stopped in on our way back from Lake Houston Wilderness Park. Quaint and cozy inside. You order at the counter then take a number and grab a seat. We ordered the cheese burger and the philly, both with grill jalapeños. So so good. The portions were not enormous so we left feeling satisfied without feeling stuffed. Juicy, handmade patty that was far from dry even though I asked for well done. Tasted like actual beef; nothing close to overly processed 'beef' being served from fast food joints. Bun was fresh. Soft, yet able to hold a burger and toppings. I ordered cheese, jalapeños, lettuce, and grilled onions. Came with mustard. I forgot to mention I wanted mayo, but great nonetheless. Fries were disappointing though. I like them a little fattier and mushier. These were left too long in the grease. Got a side of onion rings. They almost looked burnt, but tasted awesome.
