Pete's Chicken is easily the best fried chicken I've found in Corpus Christi, and what really keeps me coming back is how consistent it is. I've been going here for a few years now, and I can't think of a single time they missed. That matters more than anything. The staff is always in a good mood, whether I walk in or hit the drive thru, and that kind of service sticks with you. My go to is the 20 piece family tender meal, and every time I open the box I'm reminded why I keep ordering it. The tenders are massive. Not those small, over breaded pieces you get from the big chains. These are real cuts of chicken, cooked right. The seasoning in the breading is on point and the chicken is always juicy. Never dried out. The bone in chicken deserves just as much credit. I finally tried the spicy breast on my last visit, and even after a 30 minute drive home due to errand stops, it was still crispy. The okra is solid, and the country gravy is my pick every time for dipping. Only downside is I wish there was one closer to me, because I'd probably be there even more. Maybe it's good it's not.... Went here after a doctors visit, bc what better to eat after seeing a doctor than fried food? Got the chicken tenders with fried okra and the burger with fries. The tenders were thick and juicy. And the yellow gravy was delicious! I had low expectations for the burger but it honestly tasted just like a fresh whataburger. Plus they make their own ranch dressing which was a big plus. I don't know what happened to this place. I've never had chicken that was so bland I couldn't finish. I've never felt sad after eating fried chicken before. My dog chose grain-free dog food over what was left. This chicken was marinated in water. This chicken never saw a grain of salt in its life. This chicken's parents didn't allow flavor in the house growing up. You would think the grease it was fried in, would at least garner it some sprinkle of flavor, but no. Rude staff. I went to pick up an online order. Was told to move my car by a worker who came out to delivery food to customers. I parked where she pointed to park. Communication isn't their strong suit because when I walked into the store a young man working there flipped out on where I parked by telling me to "move your car or I'm not giving you any food" lol. First let me start by saying, if you haven't stopped by Pete's Chicken, you're missing out! The moment you walk in, you will be greeted with a friendly staff. My shout out to Mari who was extremely polite. When I told her it was my first time there, she was so ready and genuinely wanting to help. She did a rundown of the menu and what they had to offer. It was a hard decision, but I ended up going with the Family fish meal that came with 2 large sides. I choose the Mac-n-cheese and fried okra. Went for dinner through the drive through on a Wednesday evening. The chicken seemed like it was re-fried. The fries seemed fresh but absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. We asked for the military discount like we usually do and all we heard multiple times is, "no one has the discount card to do it!" 4/26/2023 Haven't been there in months. the fried chicken was not the best at our last visit, it was cold and overcooked, but it is still better than most. Yesterday's visit was very much worth the trip. The fried chicken was as perfect as you can get. The chicken was super crispy, it was hot, and very moist inside the coating. Ordered a dozen gizzards. I received 5 gizzards, 6 half gizzards and a fried pickle. I think everyone knows what a gizzard looks like. It is basically two round pieces usually attached to each other. Sometimes they separate and at that point it is one round piece, not a full gizzard. So my order had a total of 8 gizzards and a fried pickle, clearly not a dozen. They made the order right by adding four gizzards. Upon leaving, I showed the manager a pic of a gizzard, and asked if they would be counting a half gizzard as one. And he told me that,s the way they come now and he was counting each piece as one, regardless if it was a half gizzard or a full gizzard. I am very disappointed as gizzards and tea was the only reason i came to Pete's. I told him I would not be returning. I also pointed out that he buys the product in a box by weight, not per piece. To be fair the gizzards are delicious, but I can not pay for 12 if I'm not gonna get 12. This is the 3rd time I have been to Pete's on Yorktown, and it will be my last. I have never received a correct order. Tonight as in the past, I had to go back to the establishment to get my order correct. While I was waiting for my order to be corrected another patron came in with an incorrect order, stating that this has happened to him in the past also and he won't be coming back. Out of the 5 orders that we had only 2 were correct. We received chicken strips instead of chicken livers. Got hush puppies instead of a roll. The burger did not come as ordered. I had never tried Pete's Chicken-n-More (one of the 4) even though they've been around since the 70s. Where I work, we have to option of ordering their chicken to be delivered to our location so I wanted to give it a shot. Now, understand, getting food delivered (especially fried chicken) is pretty tricky. If you trap ANYthing fried inside of a container for too long, the steam will make make it undesirably soggy. Well, that didn't happen. The chicken that arrived with my lunch was hot, crisp and very tasty! I can only guess that they're using some rice flour in their coating because it has that certain, light crunch texture you get from either rice flour or crushed Panko - and I doubt it would be the latter. But, they're definitely brining their chicken which is why it has so much good flavor! And they cut their chicken into 8's, instead of 10's, so the pieces are a good size; another plus. The cole slaw was very good, the mashed potatoes were alright but they need to be careful with the chicken base in their "golden gravy." This batch came out a little salty (which is what happens when you use too much base). Otherwise, the sides were an excellent compliment to this great chicken. And, it's that standout chicken that shoots my rating to 4 stars. Fried chicken places in Corpus Christi are about as numerous as doctors offices (which makes for an interesting coincidence) and I've (thought I had) tried all the chains, the locals, and the "convenient' ones. But, I have to say, in all sincerity, Pete's Chicken-N-More tops 'em all. Seriously, think about it. If the chicken is this good when it's delivered from what is likely 10+ miles away, can you imagine how much better it is at the restaurant?? read more

Pete's is one of our go to fast food places. Kids love the chicken tender meal. We like the golden gravy and the rolls are great for making mini chicken tender sandwiches. Green beans are very good. Don't bother to go here unless there's no where else to go. They have terrible service. My husband and I went there tonight ordered our food got our drinks sat down and waited. A large party of 5 came in after we did, and the manager, raul, came out to check on the large party of 5 and did not even acknowledge us. Then proceeded to bring the party of 5 their food when we did not receive anything. When I approached the manager to ask why we did not receive our food yet he had no clue we even had an order. Keeanda, who took our order said they were waiting on fried chicken. I asked her if the other party had gotten fried chicken and she said yes. I then expressed concern as to why they were waited on before we were and when he said your order was to go I said no it was for here but I understand how the cashier got it wrong when everything else was wrong as well. A long time customer. On my last visit I promised myself to never ever return to Pete's. I called the young manager and explained that for a long time Pete's has been cutting their breasts in half. There was a time that one breast and their delicious fries was a complete meal. Not any more. I used to ask for their tarter sauce as a condiment. Now, the charge is 69 cents for a tiny cup. Outrageous!! And don't ask for a piece of fish. $1.69 for a half dollar size piece. I refused to accept it. They had me wait another 15 minutes on top of the original 25 minute wait. The next piece was just slightly bigger. So I asked for a wing instead....another 10 minute wait. By the time I arrived home everything was cold and a bit soggy. Shame on you people. Sell the place to someone that will provide good taste, size and fast service. Popeye's gives you better deals for your money. Embarrassing that a national franchise can out do a local outfit. I've been here many times because of the restaurant being close to my house. I haven't gone for quite some time until today and noticed they have a new menu. I got the new chicken bites and they were delicious with the Buffalo sauce. The wait for a drive thru was entirely too long though. It took 20 minutes for 2 meals. Outrageous! Also, they have gone up on their prices and charge a little to much for sauce. A 1 oz portion cup of ranch was $0.69. I really like the food and will probably be back, but it's costly and the service isn't always great (another reason I give 3 stars). The owner really needs to evaluate his thinking about raising the prices and maybe hiring some employees who are thankful for their jobs! read more

I've lived down the street for a year and never been because I'm very picky about fried chicken. However, upon my mother-in-laws request I stopped in to pick some up. It was about 12:15 and there were 4 or 5 groups of people dining in, but no one in line. I placed my order right away and the man who took it was very nice. I asked how long it would take because I've read reviews saying it took upwards of 30 minutes and he replied it would only take a few. So I sat down and started playing a game on my phone.
