I found these guys about a year ago for a smog check, their shop is super clean and they always get me in and out quick. I recently had them do the brakes on my wife's 2012 VW GTI, they used quality parts and did the fix quick and perfect, stopped the squeaking and fixed the pulling to one side. I am a mechanic and usually work on my own vehicles, but some stuff I would just rather pay someone to do, like the other day when the starter went out on my 04 Toyota Tundra.. I took a quick look online and realized that the whole intake manifold has to come off before you can even access the starter, plus it's been raining and I've been busy with work, so I called Pete, had it towed to them and the next day, today, I picked it up. By the way they charged me a whole lot less than Toyota Glendale wanted! I've had allot of bad experiences with mechanics and trust myself over anyone else, so it's nice to have finally found a shop full of honest, fair, talented mechanics I can trust. I'm very impressed with the work and the professionalism at this shop. I had many problems with my car that couldn't be diagnosed correctly when I took it to few places before coming to Pete's Shop . He diagnost it right away it only took a day to fix it.. they're very responsible with the cost of ordering parts . When all said and done it ran like a new car . The next day my air conditioner went out it needed more freon .. he quoted me a price to refill it but as my car needed a lot of work when I first took the car in I said I would have to wait because I'm in debt now from repairs ..and he said don't worry about it and filled it right up for me..that's was very nice of him . Crook!!! I took my SUV in 2 weeks ago because the a/c system had a considerable leak. Pete told me to leave it there, he would call me. Four hours later I CALLED HIM. He says he's not done checking it. Seriously?? I went back immediately. He looked me square in the eyes and told me, cool as ice, "Your a/c compressor has leaks everywhere" ...Really? Can you fix it, I asked.. He tells me no but I can replace it for $715... Thankfully, I wanted a second opinion, so I took my car elsewhere. They found the REAL problem in 5 minutes, showed me, and had it fixed in 10 minutes, charged me $100 and sent me on my way! Before I left I told them about Pete's diagnosis.. They seemed more aggrevated about it than I was and went on a rant about rip-off mechanics like Pete. So here we are 2 weeks later and my a/c system works great no thanks to Pete's Cocky Auto Repair! Oh, and he charged me $45, apparently for his acting skills! read more

Disgusted!! I went in to get a smog check and was told my EGR needed to be replaced, and he quoted me $165 for the part and $65 for labor. I went back two days later and was told my car would be ready around 1pm. I called around 1pm to see approximately how much longer it would take, and was told "I will call you when i am done." At 3pm i went in and told the part was not even in yet, it should be here in 10 minutes. At 4pm the part arrived. While waiting for the part Peter told me he broke a part, it was his fault so he replaced it. When time to discuss payment Peter asked me "How much money do you have? I need to charge you something for that part." My total should have been $230, But he charged for the part he broke, and some other charges we never discussed totaling $366. Also there was never a phone call or my permission to replace or even tell me he broke it. The next day after being advised to go speak to Peter i went in to discuss this issue. Peter immediately got defensive, started telling me "the person you spoke to does not know what they are talking about, I did a favor for you by replacing a part that could have broken soon, i gave you coolant (um which you should have considering my coolant sprayed all over my engine) etc etc." I told Peter "I am so sorry you needed to take it this direction, i came to speak to you, and your angry." Peter then shouts " I will just eat it then ok. Its free happy now." I started to walk away as Peter starts hitting a tool box and saying stuff to me. I tried to email Peter, but no response. This is not how one does business or treats a first time customer. The way he acted was unethical and very unprofessional. I was referred to this shop by a friend, and does not mean you can treat me as if you know me, or ask me how much money i have to nickle and dime me on your mishap. I as a customer have rights to be informed prior to any work being done, or any further charges other than what we discussed bottom line here! I was truly hoping you would do the right thing, but after the way you acted i guess not. The reason i am warning others is get that quote in writing, and make sure to check in to see the are no surprise parts, broken parts, or whatever you will be paying extra for. Hey Peter since you could not speak to me in person as a professional should, not answer my emails,Can you explain why would their be tape wrapped around another hose that was not there before, and why is there pieces of tape with exposed wires hanging off the egr you replaced? I think i deserve an answer considering the way you thought you could speak to me and act like a child hitting your tool box in a rage of anger when confronted about overcharging me in the first place, and not abiding by laws that are provided for a reason to give a customer rights against shady, dishonest, mechanics such as yourself. Also why was there a call placed to the person who recommended you to me? How bout you leave her out of this, it will not help in any way, and this issue does not and should not involve anyone. It is between you and i. I was hoping you could do the right thing. read more

I finally found an honest auto repair shop. I took my truck to the chevrolet dealer for noisy front end and the tried telling me i needed new upper control arms, gave an outrageous price if $2200.00 . I declined the work and picked up my truck. I got referred to petes auto. I took it in and told him i had front end noise. I left the truck their and pete called me an hour later telling me my upper control arm bushings where bad. He gave me an estimate for 395.00 for both sides. WOW! What a deference. I run a very busy local automotive business and have always outsourced smog checks for our loyal customers. Very happy to have a new place to send our customers to. I used to go to two different guys for the last 4 years, and both had their major downsides. One opened up his smog station late since he most always slept in, which of course meant he always left early. HUGE inconvenience for us as we respect our schedule and that of our customers as well. The other guy ended up misdiagnosing three different vehicles for emission repairs, and we lost so much money and most importantly disappointed all three customers, so I had to stop using them both all together. As of three months ago, I started sending all of my customers to Pete's Complete Auto for smog checks, very easily 20 customers by now including a personal friend of mine. Not only have they all passed, but at least half of those customers called to thank me for the referral. They've told me they were honest, professional, and very quick. As a female, I am always concerned about being exploited by mechanics. I have been with my regular mechanic 30 years but he doesn't do transmission work, and said I have a leaking transmission seal that needs to be looked at, so we've been monitoring the transmission fluid leakage for the last 3 weeks. Then, I noticed a huge amount of fluid on the ground the night before and assumed it was the transmission. The next day I called 4 transmission shops in my area, and Pete's was the only one that could start work on the car that day. We discussed repair price, and Pete's was competitive. I noticed right away how clean everything was and how nice the mechanics were, and Pete met me personally upon arrival. He immediately put the car up on the jack, and quickly diagnosed it was not my transmission (points for honesty!), which he said is leaking just a little at this point, but it was 2 worn power steering hoses and a possible leak in the power steering pump. Since he also does transmissions, I decided to try his work. He gave me a ride home and back to pick up the car which he fixed that day. He power-washed the engine to see where any future leaks are coming from, flushed the power steering system, and replaced the 2 hoses, all for under $300. He told me his work is guaranteed for 10,000 miles or 30 days. I felt very good about the entire encounter and would like to recommend this shop highly. He also works on Saturday and my mechanic does not. When it's time to do the transmission, I feel confident he will do a great job. Sharie in Tujunga, CA read more
