Decided to stop by for lunch, and super glad we did. It was so great to sit outside and enjoy the sun and nice weather. Pete's has a really nice patio space and it was full today: everyone wanted some sun. My wife and I both got the all you can eat fish... it was well prepared and great flavor; but my wife didn't even finish her first plate lol. It was really great but our only regret was forgetting to ask if she could've gotten the normal plate price. My son got the grilled cheese. Everything was good and solid portion sizes. It's a little bit longer wait for food and noticed that on my last visit too but didn't mind as much with being outside. Great service too, our gal outside was busy and we had some requests especially with our son but she was fairly quick and always friendly. I've never been at a restaurant with so many flies before. Between bites we were busy swatting away flies from the rest of our food. The meat in my burrito didn't have much flavor and the beef was dry. The fork I was given was dirty so I asked for another one but had to ask again when my food arrived. Stopped in with my husband, parents and brothers family on Saturday. My husband got the turkey sandwich on the pretzel bun - he is obsessed with this sandwich. I got the chicken ranch wrap, it was very saugy. He kept ordering a large beer but the server was brining him a small one each time. My dad got the french dip with fries. However you step inside and it transforms into what feels like the inside of a large log cabin that someone has then transformed into a bar and dinning room. I loved the atmosphere. I ordered the Whiskey Tavern Burger ($15.50). This has bacon, haystack onions, Jack Daniels BBQ, and chipotle jack cheese. This burger was phenomenal. Melts in your mouth goodness. I devoured the burger and seriously considered ordering another. This burger has just cracked my Top 3 burgers in Grand Rapids. Perfectly cooked with the perfect toppings. I love Pete's. We either go here or get takeout 2-3 times a month. The food is always fresh and you can tell it is homemade. Service is always great and super friendly too. We love sitting on the covered patio in the summer. Picked out this place for girls night based on the reviews and it did not disappoint! I had the 84th Street Burger and it was delicious and cooked to perfection! I wanted to try a local bar and this showed up on my Google search. It seemed to be a very homey spot in a good way. The staff was very nice and attentive. We got the tavern pickles with are fried pickles in egg roll wrap with ham and Swiss and they were really good! I would recommend trying them. We also got the Bleu cheese burger which was really really good and one of the best burgers my partner has ever had. The chicken tenders were amazing! If you are looking for the typical dry chicken tenders this is not the place to go. The chicken was so juicy and perfectly cooked. Probably one of the best chicken tenders I have ever had. Half-pound patties sourced from a local beef supplier and grilled to your juicy liking. Pick one of Pete's menu combos or construct your own. I chose the hangover burger because I do adore a fried egg atop any burger of mine. Also came with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and--here's the namesake--bloody Mary flavored sauce. Flavors were great. I swapped out the fries for Pete's hand breaded onion rings; it was worth the extra $2. Washed it all down with a craft brew. Pete's has a dozen or so on tap--and a strong selection at that. First time here and it was wonderfully tasty! Staff was really nice too. I got the chicken sandwich. The chicken piece was SO big! The mayo sauce was really great too. Super messy, but definitely worth it. We also tried the pickle wrap appetizer and they were great, but very warm when they came out- be careful not to burn yourself. Pretty good bar food! Came here for the first time recently. The inside was rather dated and smelled like an old bar, but we came for the food! I got the cheesesteak and it was really cheesy and had a lot of beef. I wish there was more veggies, but can't complain. The fries were really average with no seasoning and little taste. My girlfriend got the Whiskey Tavern Burger. She thought it was really good as the burger meat is from the local butcher. Also, the barbecue sauce had good flavor. We tried the cheese curds, but they didn't impress me at all. Again, no flavor. They need to dress it up a bit. However, their ranch and marinara sauce ARE BOMB! Order a taco salad to go and I received a taco shell so the rest of my party got to finish their lunch while I was waiting for my taco salad to get filled up in the shell. We've had good experience at your location for quite a few years and we're looking forward to visiting since we have moved out of state not sure we're gonna make a trip back. What a great little spot in Byron Center! I have always had great food when eating here. I have been coming to Pete's Tavern for a long time; since the 90's! The food is always great! I honestly cannot think of a single bad meal I have had from them. You can't go wrong with their burgers, which come from Byron Meats; or their wet burrito's! Our service has always been great! I suspect the pizza sat for sometime to be delivered. it was just warm not hot. the waitress was supposed to bring cheese to shake on the pizza. she never returned to the table. this was 03:00 pm and they were not busy. Pete's Grill & Tavern is part of the 4GR8Foods family, which includes Grand Coney, Rockwell/Republic, Omelette Shoppe, Sundance, Bagel Beanery, Red Geranium, Beltline Bar, and Noble, among a couple others. My personal favorites in this restaurant group are Grand Coney on Michigan, which I frequent at least 2x per month, and Rockwell. Each year they do a promotion where you can buy $50 in gift cards and you get five $10 off coupons for most of the restaurants in the group. We had one left over from last year, for Pete's Tavern. This place is not close to our house at all, but my boyfriend and I decided to make the drive on a Sunday to watch part of the Lions game and use our coupon. Pete's Grill & Tavern is a cozy, local, old-timey feeling sports bar in downtown Byron Center. The decor is really interesting with some very unique features built in to the walls (look up at the team lights). We snagged one of the last booths in the center of the room and were greeted right away. We decided to split an order of nachos to start - well, it ended up being our entire meal because the portion is huge! It definitely would be a good starter for a larger group. I am usually not a fan of nachos because there tends to be a large pile of "naked" chips without toppings towards the end... not these nachos! Every single chip had toppings - taco beef, shredded lettuce, tons of cheese, jalapeno, and taco sauce. So delicious! Certainly not health food, but nice for a treat. Our total for 2 pops and this massive plate of nachos was about $16. Would I come back again? Probably not regularly, just due to the location.
