Olives and cheese tray next to uneatable salad

My wife and I made the trip to Pete's Place Italian Restaurant in Krebs Ok. The last time we ate there was more than 20 years ago. The restaurant was pretty much the same as I remembered. My wife and I both ordered Chicken Parmigiana. The complimentary bread was good. However the salad was chopped up lettuce drowned in vinegar. And not eatable. The chicken parmigiana was good, but nothing outstanding. The meatballs and Ravioli were ok. But needed more flavor. Overall our server was excellent. However based on our past experiences, Our food/ prices did not meet our expectations. expectations.

The food was good, but nothing like it was years ago when Bill Pritcher opened the place and Betty was the main waitress at the time that retired after many years. Years ago, the food was amazing all handmade. Our family had been coming here from years ago. Bill preacher gave my uncle his rosary and told him I am not giving this to you. You were to bring it back and that's one of the first things My uncle did when he came back from World War II . Bill and Betty are no longer there and things have changed, of course because time has changed. However, it was wonderful coming back to reminisce with one of my dearest friends that remembers all the old times before the big remodel. As a matter of fact, my uncle was privileged to get to Cook spaghetti with Bill and my uncle taught us how to do it like they did years ago. As far as our visit today there the waitress was very friendly, but she knew nothing about the history of Petes. When we were checked out, it was the same thing. They were very friendly, but they knew nothing about the history of the place, which is a little sad to me. They have a lot of the memorabilia on the walls, but none of their staff we met knew anything about the history. We did have some food we wanted to take to go. They brought us to go containers however, again back in the day they would have packaged it up for us. I wish this new Petes lots of luck and lots of business. I do wish it was back like it was : same old recipes and learn the history because there was great people years ago that founded this place.

Lunch with friends at Petes last Friday. Living in OKC means we don't get to Petes often but it's on our must do list when we can make it happen. This time we were on our way to Queen Wilhemena lodge which made it easy. If you're not familiar with Petes it's an iconic restrauant rich in history and tradition. They're in a relatively new building with individual dining rooms that provide for a private, intimate dining experience Each of us ordered the Italian Lunch, an ample plate of spaghetti with two meat balls, and ravoli. The menu indicated that two ravoli came with the dish, but each our plates had five ravoli. The sauce is delectable. The complimentary bread is very good. The service was excellent. The prices moderate.

We were traveling and hadn't been to Pete's in probably over 10 years so we just had to stop. Service was sweet and attentive. We were placed in our own little private dinning room. The Garlic bread arrived first and it was so warm and delicious!! Then the salad. I know some don't understand the hype about iceberg lettuce with vinegar and oil, but it is so delicious and refreshing. Especially with the cheese and olives and peppers. I ate my ravioli and meatballs first, and then tried the steak and spaghetti. It's just like going Home for a Home cooked meal. I just can't explain it. It "feels" just as good as it tastes! That's Amore!!

I love the atmosphere. We were in a private room alone. The steak was average, not at all bad, but not the best that I had ever tasted. It was the same with the spaghetti. The steak finger appetizer was really good and the garlic bread was amazing. The service was great. It was both friendly and efficient. We were well taken care of

Of course the minute I realized the hotel didn't have a restaurant... my retirement road trip survival instincts kicked in: "Find closest pet-friendly patio immediately!" And WOW... what a find! Uncork'd Wine Bar absolutely delivered! This locally loved Fort Smith spot is known for its huge wine selection, cozy upscale vibe, incredible patio, craft cocktails, and surprisingly amazing food menu. Spot on. But honestly? The service may have stolen the show.
