We have made it an annual tradition to drive to Petes at Christmas time then go to Muskogee and look at Christmas lights. We have never been disappointed in Petes, and this time was no exception! The restaurant is set up differently than your typical restaurant. There are several hallways with individual rooms with a table in them. Which personally our family loves the privacy of an individual room, almost has a quiet home feel to it. You definitely do not leave this place hungry! All of the entrees are served with salad, garlic bread, cheese/pepper plate, spaghetti/meatballs, and ravioli. They have different options for entrees from lamb fries and fried chicken, to steaks and Italian food. The entree prices are mostly around $20-30. Which I think is reasonable for the amount of food you receive. On this visit I ordered the sirloin topped with mushrooms and my husband ordered the ribeye with a side of lamb fries. We would both order them again! Overall, we will be returning again in the future! *FYI, they do take reservations. Which I would highly recommend especially on the weekends! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Traveling from Chicago in mid-May, a friend and I happened upon this place while staying in nearby MacAlester. It seemed innocent enough. What could possibly go wrong in Krebs, OK? We had chosen to avoid Rib Crib and the musty smelling Giacomo's restaurant on U.S. 69, closer to our accommodations. So, innocently, and upon recommendation from a third party, we scampered off to Pete's Place. The parking is great, and the place, including bathrooms, is very clean. The overall setting is cute, and I am sure that that's what continues to draw people in, not the food. If you're claustrophobic AND are a tightwad, then this place is not for you! Run for your dear life! There are many small rooms. It's very tight. Once seated, we were greeted immediately by our young, dumb bunny server. This poor guy could not hold a friendly, informal conversation to save his life. I really tried to make it easy for him. To Pete's credit, there are some gluten free options, including meatballs. In addition to their being expensive, entrées CANNOT BE SHARED. Every person has to order something...expensive. It adds up quickly, even for only two people. So, we ordered in such a way that we could have some variety. Our table was tiny and it was a bit cramped. The food came quickly. The pasta and the accompanying red sauce was insipid and undistinguished. The gluten free meatballs that I ordered were rubbery, and sat upon a huge mound of the previously described pasta. The meatballs reminded me of the Superballs that I played with as a child in the 1970s. The salad was okay, but nothing to brag about. Olive Garden does a better job in that department. There were two olives and maybe a banana pepper. So, we ate. Not being able to share, and traveling to Dallas the next day, there was a LOT of wasted food when we were finished. I hate to not be able to take food home when I can't consume my restaurant portion. Do not let this venue become a family tradition. It's fake Italian on a good day. Much like Cold Stone Ice Cream, the proprietors base their sense of hospitality on volume, rather than genuine quality. However, they are not shy about charging alpine prices. It would seem that Olive Garden puts more effort into making their selections "Italian" than this place does. Sorry, Pete's Place. It looks like your day has come and gone. If, indeed, Krebs, Oklahoma did have a strong Italian heritage at one time, it did not come through in the cuisine of Pete's Place. read more

Good customer service but the food was extremely underwhelming. I'd eaten at Pete's several years ago and was excited to take my boyfriend here for Father's Day. But besides the good customer service and impressive amounts of food it was not a great experience. The spaghetti sauce tasted like it came straight from a can and then was watered down. The bread, salad and antipasti were great though. I had the chicken Alfredo and was super disappointed, it came out barely warm and I've had frozen dinners that had more flavor. That's harsh but true. The price would be fine if all of the huge amounts of food they bring you are excellent, but it was all just kind of "ok". We drove 2 hours to have lunch and was extremely disappointed. The limited menu was understandable and we had no problem with that. The quality of food was the issue. The food was bland at best and we left all of our spaghetti...we always get a to go box....because it just wasn't good. The waitress didn't really care that we were there and when we left didn't even get a thank you. The ladies at the door didn't acknowledge us as we left. Needless to say we will not return. I went there yesterday 6-19-2019.I don't plan to go there again. This place is very expensive. The cheapest meal was $17 per person and they didn't allow you to share. The food was average at best. The bread was good, they served a salad with no tomatoes and already made with their dressing. The spaghetti was ok, but overall not worth it at all. When we went to leave a friend wanted a cup to go for her drink. They brought her a small cup and no lid. They said they didn't have any lids. Strange place. Those with children they do not serve pizza. We stopped there for dinner. When you walk in it seems like a normal Italian eatery with checkered floors and casually dressed hostesses. You are then led back to a private literal, dining room with pocket door. Our formal waitress was kind and informative. Menu was odd with most items being served with lamb fries. The equivalent of calf fries. (I asked). High end steak house prices, every person has to order an entree, and no sweet tea. The food is good - have had lasagna, chicken parmesan, sausage and sirloin. Of course, the all you can eat spaghetti and raviolis are part of the meal. The only dish that I was not wowed was the sirloin. For alcoholic beverage, I highly recommend Choc Beer. Have had a couple of the other made there beers but not as impressed as the Choc Beer. Ate here in August '21 and Feb '22 for probably the first time in 20 years. I figured they had lost their fastball and wouldn't be as good as I remembered but honestly it was great. I don't know if it's the nostalgia of eating there when I was younger, the celebrity pics on the wall or the uniqueness of the place but definitely met my expectations. Is it five star food? Nah, but it's good, homey and plenty of it. My favorite thing there is the meatballs. I could eat a lot of them. A most in relaxing and rushed dinner. Sadly disappointed. No Don't start breaking down tables and have a bunch of staff all around you making noise by talking loudly about how to rearrange for some party or gathering the next day and rearranging tables & chairs and closing off parts of the room while we were trying to eat. Then 25 minutes or so after being seated and we had ordered, we were told the kitchen was "now closed" and our waitress said she did not know they were closing the kitchen early. We felt rushed with all of the break down of furniture and such all around us and it was not a relaxing or nice Mothers Day dinner at all. It was just 100% rude. Not only did we get there prior to our reservation time, we didn't get called back until nearly 30 minutes later after being asked if all of our party of 6 "is here Now.?" Our entire party was there from the beginning! We all arrived in the same vehicle. Nobody ever told the owner/hostess people checking us in that we were waiting on people to arrive. This has been one our families favorite restaurants to go to for at least 22 years. We drive over 75 miles to go there. Our waitress was great. She is the only thing that met our usual expectations. We tipped her well. Food was basic. I did not ask to speak to the manager because clearly the owner/manager was fully aware of the crappy service all around. I know this because we know her face, eve with the mask since we have Bering going to Pete's Place for so long. This is the second time I've eaten here at Pete's and enjoy the food. The whole restaurant is separate private rooms for dining, whether you are dining alone or dining with family and friends, you're in a private room which gives it homey feeling. Family-owned, their wait staff is friendly, the restaurant is very clean with a welcoming atmosphere. Great for families with small children. The private dining rooms have doors that slide open and close. I ordered the lunch Chicken Parmesan, it was served with Spaghetti, 1 meatball, 1 meat ravioli and a basket of fresh hot garlic bread. The chicken was lightly breaded and fried a golden brown, topped with delicious marinara, mozzarella grated parmesan - very tasty. The meatball was tender and flavorful. The meat ravioli dough was dense, not to my liking. The garlic bread was very good, I really enjoyed the marinara, very fresh and light, that was a 4 star on its own. Very generous and on their portions, I could not finish the spaghetti or garlic bread, for $10 very inexpensive delicious lunch. read more

The original Pete's Place, with Pete or his son in the kitchen, was part of my childhood. The sauce and the ravioli were made from scratch by first or second-generation Italians, the bread baked in brick ovens in nearby Bache. Small wonder the restaurant drew diners from near and far. Fast forward to June 1, 2022. There were three of us at the table and our meals bore little resemblance to the food the restaurant used to serve. The spaghetti was cold and too overcooked to absorb any sauce. The sauce had a peculiar flavor overtone that was hard to identify. Rumor is that the sauce is canned, which would account for the odd, processed taste. The meatballs were dry, hard and over salted. The lamb fries were almost inedibly salty. If that wasn't bad enough, rap and country music were blaring incongruously through this "Italian" restaurant, which seemed to be run by teenagers. In contrast, another Italian immigrant descendant. Mike Lovera took Lovera's Grocery in Krebs to a higher level by producing hand-crafted cheeses that have won national awards. In addition to having a quaint physical presence, the store is now an online source for mail-order gourmet Italian products. At Pete's Place, the food and atmosphere have gone into decline, which is a real discredit to the founder. read more

Husband and I decided to take a road trip and stopped here for lunch. Landscaping and appearance was very nice. Dining area was nice. They have designated area for each party your put into a small room that you have all to yourself. Staff was nice Food was bland. The flavor was off. We had the lasagna and the spaghetti. First thing was I was dining alone and had to wait ten minutes to be seated in a very small room with no people , at a table in the corner, facing a wall . Drink order was wrong. Not everybody can tolerate oil and vinegar ... bread ends were burnt. First entree item , Spaghetti: bland and the sauce was either that nasty canned Hunts or Ragu from a jar. Watery and terrible. No taste. Lasagna: no ricotta or any cheeses . Bland pasta with dog food ( finely ground beef, tasteless)for meat with , again, terrible and a darker red almost burnt sauce. No lid for my to go drink. Sat there for almost 20 minutes with no server, had to ask someone else for my check. And before you ask, I was having a great day not a bad day at all until I was charged $30 for an absolutely something that resembled Italian food. Oh dear. This is not tasty Italian food. We came for the beer event next door, and excepted this place to be good. It's family style, but only comes one meat ball per order. The sauce basically taste like watered down Ragu. The salad is heavy on the vinegar. The raviolis do not have flavor, which is so disappointing. However I will say the Italian sausage has wonderful flavor, & they place you in personal rooms, which is nice. Our waitress was very kind, the front hostess' not so much. I suppose if you have been eating here your entire life, you really enjoy Pete's Place. But if you are traveling and are looking for some really good food (other than fast food), just keep traveling. I had been driving for four hours and needed a late lunch. Pete's Place has many dining rooms, several rooms have one table. The menu is very limited! The house salad is cut Iceberg lettuce with lots of an oil/vinegar dressing that has some Italian seasoning added. The bread basket is excellent. The food is bland. The Alfredo sauce is served with large penne pasta--the sauce just pools in the bottom of the bowl. The grilled chicken breast included, had great grill marks but was very dry and tough. The meal reminded me of cheap cafeteria food. But, I was very irritated with the lack of service. Twice, I had to walk out of my room (single table) to request tea refills. It was around 3:00 pm and I believe I was the only customer. A group of four employees were huddled around the hostess station talking. CON: lots of bland and uninteresting ingredients, salad was iceberg lettuce with vegetable oil and white vinegar, pasta was way overcooked and not fresh, expensive entrees $25 - $30, pasta dishes or breaded deep fried meats. My husband has raved about the unique taste of Pete's Place for years! It's quite a distance from where we live so we haven't made the trip until now. But, but after a long weekend at Beavers Bend we made it a point to stop in. Let me just say, it definitely lived up to all his hipe. I got the Toasted Ravioli, and he got the Italian Dinner. Travelers beware. Spare your wallets and your stomachs. Many reviewers said the food was that of an elementary school cafeteria. I would have to agree. However, I have never spent $85 at any school cafeteria. They advertise family style food but everyone has to order an entree to take advantage of the refillable Italian dinner "deal." Went to the bar so that we could order ala carte but it's the same flavorless food in smaller portions. Red sauce managed to have no flavor at all, same thing with the Alfredo sauce. I travel through the McAlester/Krebs area a lot for work and on June 4th I ate at Pete's Place for the first time for a business lunch. We ended up with a private room and this worked out perfect since I was meeting with a client. Now the food itself was very good. I are the chicken parmigiana and it was very good. I also substituted the fettuccine Alfredo instead of the spaghetti that normally comes with that dish and it was wonderful. Also, great garlic bread. The dough was too dense with not enough filling and it was undercooked. My sister's was the same so I think that's just how they make them. The bread was great. I feel discriminated against. We had a reservation for Valentine's Day and we waited for about 30 minutes for a table. Cool, have done that before. Another group of people came in about 15 minutes later than us, and they gave them the next open table. I overheard them tell the hostess their reservation time was the same as ours! When I protested, the hostess said, "Well, the next table will be open in a minute." Somehow that answer is not adequate and no apology given! I'll give 2 stars since the food is wonderful, but I won't be back since I can get insulted for free! Don't need to pay a large bill for it!! read more
