I chose this auto shop because of the good reviews, and the entire process from drop off, quotes, customer service and communication was superb. They followed up very often and were upfront with the repair cost and the inspections. I paid close to $300 for an 02 sensor replacement that i was told would fix the p0172 error code that gave me a check engine light. I even got to pick up my car the same day since it was a quick fix. I get home and drove not even 2 miles and boom, the check engine light comes on. When i use my OBD scanner to see why, it WAS THE SAME ERROR CODE i went into their auto shop to get fixed. My worst assumption is that they just unplugged my car battery and said they fixed it. ( doing that will reset codes and they wont get picked up for a while from obd scans ) Very sad thanksgiving surprise. read more

So on Christmas Day, my car started making these funny sounds. I had just dropped off my parents and was now freaked because it's funny how dependent we are on our cars. When I got home, I popped the hood and restarted the car...now the sounds were wobbly sounding. Great! So I called Pete's and left a message that I was going to drop my car off in the morning. I knew I didn't have an appointment so I wasn't even sure he could work on it. When I brought it in, Lori explained what I knew, my car was at the end of the list to be worked on. I told her Pete's was the only place I trust! I didn't care how long it took, which was about a week. Part of it was my fault, I put in too much oil which exacerbated an earlier problem. But she survived....and it's been 6 years since I first wrote and it looks like she's gonna go even further! read more

About a year ago I scheduled an appointment to have my vehicle (don't remember exactly which one since I own multiple cars) serviced there; was told to drop-off car in the morning and to pick up and end of day. Upon arriving at end of day I was told that due to excessive workload mechanic did not have time to service my vehicle. hah?...basically wasted a whole day even though appointment was scheduled per shop protocol...OK, so I wanted to give them a second chance and today I scheduled another appointment to bring my honda in for a diagnostic. I have had shady people work on my cars in the past and have always seemed to have a recurring problem. I am pretty loyal to Hondas and Toyotas and it seemed like a natural progression to patronize Pete's. I am always late to my appointments and I don't get chastised too much. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, especially Lori at the front. Pete's got the George Clooney look going, of course that doesn't influence his skill with the cars he works on, but they know their craft backwards and forwards. And because of that I will shout from the mountain tops that if you own a HONDA/ACURA, TOYOTA/SCION/LEX to go to Pete's because they are legit. They also have K - cups. Although, don't go when I do because I have a tendency of hogging the desk as my little makeshift office. The good: very reliable mechanics, do not expect to be led astray. Pete, Lori and the rest of the gang are very knowledgeable, helpful, honest, and have very reasonable fees. I have only been there once but I know now that this is the place to go. I am so tired of dealing with Kearny Mesa Toyota dealership. I want my Prius to be in excellent condition so I've been taking it to the dealership for routine checks since I got it, 9 months ago. They constantly recommend that I replace parts that are still in good condition or hassle me to have the most expensive oil change performed. Dropped off my car here after experiencing stalling issues. They kept my car all day testing it on the road to duplicate the issue but were unable to get it to stall out to figure out what was wrong so I got my car back with no charge. I think most shops would try to find a reason to charge you for something in this situation but Pete's did not. Something about them seems honest and that they wouldn't charge you for something you don't need. Their prices seem fair enough. Don't think they're the cheapest place but as others say you get what you pay for. If and when my car stalls out again I am most likely taking it here. Growing up in paradise hills, I had heard good things about this shop over the years. I've lived in Chula Vista for the past ~2 years now and decided to bring my car in for two maintenance services. I was really impressed. Both services were completed in about an hour. The shop was clean and I really enjoyed the fact that the waiting room had wifi. Lori at the front counter is a very pleasant person and their prices are pretty competitive especially when compared against prices at the dealership. They were very personable and knowledgeable, listened to my problem, and fixed my problem immediately.
